Just want to share some photos of the yummy lunch we had at the Brimsham Park pub yesterday, as we celebrated the first day of the Chinese New Year of Rabbit. Happy New Year! Food is good, just needed to wait for more than 30min.

When we arrived there were only 2 other customers seated so it was very quiet which we thought was great as it would mean the service would be good. The lady behind the bar taking our orders was very kind and friendly. However, it all went down hill from there. The waiting staff were sat at a table with their family and young children so no one was around to seat us, after waiting 35 minutes for our food I approached the waitress and asked if she worked here as we had been waiting a long time for the food. She got up from the table and said she would go and check where it was, it then came out immediately stone cold! By this point we have 5 unhappy and hungry children who are the food begrudgingly because we refused to wait any longer to eat. The portions were ridiculously small to the point that one child’s bbq piece was literally 2 mouthfuls! There was no follow up from the waitress to see how the meals were and we left soon after. I used to work at the restaurant 15 years ago and it was always a lovely, lively place where the waiting staff did everything possible to make their customers have an enjoyable experience. It’s safe to say it’s not the same anymore. I wonder know if that’s why it was empty. We will not be returning.

Nothing great but lots of room for improvements. The food was what was expected although some of the food was below par. The biggest problem was the length of time it took to serve the meals, this was very poor and if we had know it would have taken this long we would have gone else where. We were advised of a 45min wait due to staff shortages and this was fine. The actual time we waited for food was 1 1/2 hours. With other customers who ordered after us having their meal well before us, to one point one couple who ordered after us had eaten and left before ours had even arrived. No warning of a longer delay until we enquired at the 60 min+ mark when we would be eating. Fully understand the staff shortages although it was not a busy night but no feedback to us that the wait would be longer, no genuine apology, no offer of anything as an apology for the inconvenience. No check back that the food was OK once it was served. We were a party of 6 with young children who by this time where getting very tired and hungry. The children's meals arrived first with another 10 minutes wait before ours arrived. And to cap it all we were over charged on the bill when the childrens meals should have been £1 we were charged full price. Although this was corrected when we quired this it should have been correct to start with.

Sat in here on a Sunday afternoon when it was quiet. After an hour we still didn’t have our food. Asked for a refund, they were very good about refunding us in fairness. Found out food was sent to the wrong table, then sent back to the kitchen and no one thought to find the right customer. I’d avoid personally.

A modern-ish estate pub on the Cask Marque Ale Trail. Quite spacious inside with plenty of parking. The ale Tribute (St Austell brewery- 4.2%abv) was in excellent condition and were it not for a long-ish drive afterwards, the temptation to prove 'quae in tribus est perfectum' would have been strong. Park of the Sizzling Pubs chain, there are more than a few interesting items on the menu. For a light bite, the breaded boneless chicken and Beer Battered Salt&Pepper Mushrooms were superb. A pleasant visit.

Haven't been here for a while so decided to go for my Daughter's birthday tea as she loves their curly fries. Food was fast and very nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. Also if you are a thatchers person, the pint I had was lively and none of the horrible tang when pubs don't clean their lines enough. Nice work. Prices pretty good for the portions given.

Haven’t been in there for years as the food was bad and they never had staff. To my surprise there were 3 staff behind the bar and the food coming out looked good. We all ended up staying and eating. Such an improvement. 17 of us in total! Great food and drink. Defo will return now it has improved so much.

Food was absolutely banging. Chef came to the table to check on us and take order and was very funny with great service. We ordered steak, and 2 burgers and 2 desserts. All was excellent. Steak served on a hot plate and was very very cheap! Service was great. Waiters/waitresses very nice and accommodating. Would definitely recommend

Took 1 hour 35 minutes for our food to arrive. Eventually arrived after I chased it. Burgers were dry and had no cheese as per menu. Chicken curry was very watery and had very hot peppers in. Not what you expect from a mild curry. Dryer in ladies loo wasn't working and the urinals in the men's loos overflowed when flushed. Absolutely horrendous

Absolutely shocking experience in this pub. They had no working ice machine so after changing our drinks they then attempted to scam us for more money even tho the drinks were cheaper. Manager came out and refunded the difference but no apology and no cares in the world, this new management won’t last long.

The bar staff were appalling! 4 members of staff working the bar & for the first time in 48 years of life, I saw people, literally queuing to the door! to be served! We only ordered a starter & it took 35 minutes to come out & were then charged £8 for 2 Budweisers! It's cheaper than that in London! When the food did arrive, it was appalling!

Mum booked a table for a party of 12 around lunchtime. She received a confirmation email that it had been booked for 5:30pm. On arrival, our party of 12 was told that they were short staffed and could not serve us food. When the manager was asked for, we were told that he was busy in the kitchen and could not speak with us. We ended up booking last minute at the Winterstream Farm, who were fantastic (check them out!). On our return home, it was discovered through a Facebook post, that the restaurant had refused service to other customers, citing that they were busy due to a party of 12 arriving. Presuming that party was us, and we didn’t receive ANY service, just excuses, it appears they were lying to other customers and blaming us for it. Don‘t go here- it’s no wonder they are short staffed if they treat their staff anything like their customers.

Came here for a birthday meal with the family, they had no ice for drinks, rice, lasagna or mixed vegetables. Took around 1 hour 30 min for the food to arrive, chicken burger came straight up outside. Been before a few times with the old management and was spot on, wouldn't think about coming again.

Having arrived for an evening meal, we ordered drinks at the bar. A double G&T and a San Miguel. We paid our money. The gin was served without ice. I asked for ice, bar staff informed us, they had no ice. Not fancying a G&T without the rocks I asked if I could change to a bottle cider. I wasn’t really concerned about the difference in price. We took our drinks to the garden to enjoy the late night sun. Then a member of staff asked if we could go back in and pay 80p for the difference. I said we will add it to our next round. Then he was sent out by the manager with the credit card terminal to charge us. Most embarrassing. I said again I will pay when we go in. Then it dawned on me that a bottled cider is actually cheaper than a double G&T and after checking the menu the pub owed me £1.75. Asked to speak to the manager who first blamed the bar lady who served us, then blamed us for not having a table, he eventually refunded the difference. No apology, clearly couldn’t care less. We asked for an apology which came with a very sarcastic tone. We then walked to the next pub where we were greeted with a smile and a meal. The Brimsham is currently under new management. Sadly bad management.

Highly recommend, food was amazing and the staff were lovely and friendly. The new manager was so nice and couldn’t do any more for us. What a lovely pub. Definitely coming back. Fantastic with the children.

OK pub food chain. Can be slow service at busy times. The steaks are of poor quality (very grisly) served on a bed of onions, with half a tomato and small chips on side. Table was cleaned for us, however the carpet floor had loads of food debris over it. My order of mac cheese was fine.

Got to pub dead on twelve, but staff were slow to get organised behind the bar. Some of our menu choices were not found on the till causing further delay. Then girl serving us couldn't put my gift card through the till and another male member of staff was called to assist. Quite a queue behind us and only one member of staff serving! We finally placed our order and sat down with drinks by 12.20. The pub appeared clean and tables well spaced out. The food arrived promptly and was good value for the price. But the two adult meals arrived first, meaning my 3 yr old grand daughter had to wait for her's to arrive! I never understand why establishments don't serve the children first? Toddlers always need time to let their meals cool a bit before eating! (as they nearly always choose chips that are naturally freshly fried and very hot!) Then parents and adults can dine with more ease! Adult puddings were adequate, but I'd probably not bother if l visited again. However, l was impressed with the children's build a sundae! It's a good budget meal and l would revisit and hope the service a little quicker next time if hungry children in tow!

This pub has massively gone downhill... went there tonight to 'try' to have some food. Ordered a drink no problem, then went up to the bar to order some food to be asked if I had booked a table?...to then be told we can only cook food for people who have a table booked... what's all that about for a so say well known local pub who have quoted on their website 'the people of Yate deserve more from their local pub'... you are absolutely correct we do... I for a fact won't be returning and and be taking my custom elsewhere.

Fantastic food and lovely friendly staff couldn’t be for happier. The manger came over to our table to see if all ok. Children were given colourings on arrival. It was lovely to see the pub full under the new manger. Highly recommended. Will be coming back with the family.

The music was too loud. The food was really hard to change to accommodate preferences. We were overcharged. The fish for the fish and chips was greasy and the chips were under cooked on both of our meals. Overall it was one of the worst nights out my partner and I have had in a long time. Will not be coming back and would not recommend. Staff were polite though.

Spoken to jay after a recent experience.. I always come here at least once a week for a take away. They always accommodate my order even though it's not on the take away menu. Sarah behind the bar is fab!

Visited today, Possibly the worst steak I’ve ever had. Both me and my partner sent our first meals back as everything was over cooked. Onion rings rock hard and visibly burnt. The couple on the table next to us even mentioned how the food smelt burnt. Staff were nice and offered to re cook which we accepted and when the food came back out the steak was literally the same. Overcooked, chef did manage to not burn the other parts of the meal. Won’t be returning.

It's a nice place to eat. It's a place to take the family. The main thing there didn't seem to have enough front of house staff serving customers. But would recommend the food.

I don’t know where to start with this review… we visited a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon, we didn’t fancy cooking so thought we’d go out for some pub grub. We arrived and got a drink straight away with good service behind the bar, it was downhill after that. Although the food menu looked good and the prices were cheap it still wasn’t worth the money! I ordered a lasagne which came in a mug which was so small!! I’m not a big eater but it was like a child’s size… obviously ordered in like this and put in the microwave! I couldn’t eat it, it tasted horrible! And it came with 2 garlic bread slices dripping in fat. My husbands wasn’t much better and my sons was served cold and the baked beans I sent back, they were dried and looked like they had been sat on the side for a while. We overheard other people complaining about their food, and we noticed the waitress didn’t clear the tables until after everyone had left, probably to avoid any difficult conversations… It’s a shame as I think this pub could do so much better given its location in yate. It’s cheap but still not worth eating there, only worth a drink. We won’t ever be returning again for food, there are so many other places in the area that are so much better, don’t waste your money.

This was our second visit to The Brimsham. The first was dreadful, so dreadful we made a complaint. But the manager assured us that this was not the service he would expect and asked us to visit again. What can I say...this time the food was perfect, presented expertly, sizzling hot and delicious. The service from the female staff was 5*, friendly and polite. So glad we gave the Brimsham a second chance...we will be back

Well done and thank you to Jay and team. We were a bit apprehensive about coming to a pub. We should not of been worried as the social distanceing you have in place is amazing. We felt comfortable throughout our visit with you and the atmosphere was relaxed and jovial. It was also good to see your team sticking to the guidelines and refusing bookings of over six people. I will highly recommend your establishment to my friends and colleagues.

Just popped in for a drink and was amazed with the great service. Met at the door and were asked if we had booked. Explained that we were just having a drink and were then taken around to the seating area by the the bar after giving our details. We used the sizzler app for ordering and were amazed at how quickly the order came out. Even in this area social distance was kept. When people left their table it was then thoughrily sanitised. Great job guys
