To say I'm not a knitter would be an understatement, but my wife is, and some how I now know the difference between a pearl and a purl! 🤪 While visiting Amsterdam from Victoria BC Canada to cheer on Max Verstappen to yet another victory, I was informed of the opportunity to score major husband points by stopping by Stephen & Penelope. Being in need of as many husband points as I can get, of course I went. Armed with a photo shopping list texted by my wife I was assisted by Nina to find exactly what was requested. 5 Stars 🌟 to Nina. With such a great selection and help available, I can highly recommend this store to all husband's of knitwits! Please note: to protect my identity, I used a picture of another knitwits husband!

Beautiful upscale yarn. Definitely good to come with a project in mind. Ended up only buying some lovely wooden buttons but still happy with my visit. The shawls and samples on display are stunning.

First let me start with saying that the staff is EXTREMELY friendly and helpful! Everyone was very willing to show me (a beginner) the many options the store has to offer. I went in to look for 1 specific type of yarn and left with a bag full, that's how wonderful it was! Yes, it's more pricey but it's 100% worth it: for a fair price you will get some really nice quality fibres, hours of fun and something special to wear! 10/10 would recommend :)

I have been to this store before, just to buy a gift to my Mother, after many years I came back to Amsterdam last month, and now I'm kniting too, so it was another experience. The staff are lovely, fun and they helped me to choose my Amsterdam souvineir wool =) For sure, you need to visit it!!

Beautiful selection of yarn and notions with so many samples! Staff was friendly and helpful without being pushy. The store is small in size but stocks a lot more than you might think was possible.

Wonderful little shop! I've been to all yarn shops in Amsterdam and this one is certainly the most welcoming. The employees are extremely nice, especially Nina did an amazing job assisting me and helping make the right choice for my project.

Made a little pilgrimage to this legendary yarnivore’s palace in March, did not disappoint! So much to choose from and great quality wool. Quite pricey but worth it for making something special for someone special ;-)

Yesterday evening I come by with my boyfriend and was really exited to buy yarn for several new projects. Close friends and a few Youtubers I watch recommended this store. But my expierience wasn‘t as good as I expected. When we came in only a few customers where there, maybe 2-3 people. No one greated us, we spent a good amount of time there but no one asked if we need some help or anything. I don‘t know why, maybe because I don‘t look like I‘m interested in knitting and didn‘t wear anything knit. But I felt uncomfortable the whole time we were in the store and left with no new yarn, because that‘s not the kind of service I prefer, even though they had a great choice of yarn.

Friendly staff and huge selection of yarn and accessories. Staff speaks mainly English, limited Dutch. When we bought a book, they offered us a signed one instead, which we found thoughtful.

Beauriful range of yarn in a sweet, helpful store. The examples of yarn knitted up and produced designs are really helpful to get you thinking about the feel and look of what you plan to make. Really cute additional products, pins and stickers etc.

I have always always wanted to come to S&P, and I had a truly great shopping experience! The yarn selection is insane and the staff were unbelievably nice and helpful. I felt very welcome and my baby was too (even though he wanted to drool on everything) and I will be coming back soon. Thank you!

Awesome discovery of this shop. Selection great, in fact so good I will have to return before leaving. If possible give yourself time for return visit as your brain needs time to process and decide. Visiting this shop in Amsterdam is truly a delightful experience in a city full of delightful experiences. I have been here several times over the last few years and it never fails to bring me joy. The beautifully displayed yarn is a visual feast and the staff are friendly and helpful. The first time I visited it was an *extremely* hot summer day, and the air conditioned, beautiful store, with a friendly chat with the shop keeper to pass some time, made it seem like a magical oasis. I have sent several friends here who have had similar experiences.

Gorgeous and beautiful shop. Very well kept.
