I echo other reviews. Only stay here if you want a cheap backpacking experience. They arrange events and have a common area. The rooms however are less than ideal. We booked a private room and it did not match the photos. It appeared to have some water damage on the ceiling, the bathroom mirror was broken with jagged sharp edges, there were exposed wires, the curtain was falling in certain places, and a bad meaty smell coming from the shower. We ended up not staying here because of this. We were not given a refund of any kind. Very disappointing.

The vibe is weird and stuff not so friendly ... I stayed in the dorms where the beds was so bad they broke . I didnt like it THAT much that i got an early check out with no refunds. Its close to the old city attractions but actually really far from the young cool areas and the night life .

Well ,it was nice hostel ,because of the guests mainly. Too many stairs. I stayed in female 6beds dorm, Bed was comfortable ,but door handle and the key were broken and they tried to fix it but no success , for us was more easy to just keep the door open whole time!! There was an BBQ event and me and some other guests joined that for 15€ , food was delicious plus one free drink ,but it doesn't worth it . But the main reason I won't go back here is, you are not allowed to drink other drinks ,alcoholic or not there. bar is in common area ,so when I was drinking a beer on terrace , bar tender came and told me I'm not allowed to drink things they serve at their bar , and if I wanna drink them I have to do it in my room! Nothing to say ! So unreasonable , rude ,...

Only stay at this hostel if you’re expecting a cheap backpacking experience. The bar is a fun time with cool people coming through, though the private room I stayed in (the first one shown in the picture) was dirty and falling apart. Not to mention the power went off several different times, including during the middle of the night which shut the air conditioning off and made the room extremely hot/uncomfortable. The sheets had stains, the shower and bathroom were dirty, and overall while the pictures depicted a luxurious private room (I will say the view is as good as what’s shown), it definitely did not live up to that.

Room and bathroom is very small. No closet, no where to leave or hang your stuff. The water from the shower cannot drain properly, because floor is not leveled. Location is good, but I would not come back to this hotel again.

My friends and I stayed at Cheers Lighthouse for a wee over a week and had the best time ever! this is one of the hostels with best atmosphere I ever been at, everyone, from the staff to the other guests felt like family and it was so sad to say bye at the end, you got everything you could hope for at this hostel, awesome location (just a few minutes walking from the Tram line T1 and the bus to catch the ferry by the Galata bridge) located just a few metres from the main Mosques Santa Sofia and the Blue Mosque and with all the commodities of a hostel but with the vibrant and fun feeling of a hostel, the views are to die for, they offer food and a cozy common space/bar/chill-out area with a balcony. The hostel offers daily events with an awesome variety, from belly dancer shows, to BBQ and pub crawl nights. Honestly, this is coming from a person who works at a hostel too and I can't recomend this enough. We stayed in a private room, which is perfect for any solo traveller looking for that extra luxurious privacy, and for couples! the beds are big and comfy and come with comp towels, mini fridge and a shower with the best water pressure ;) much needed after a long day/night exploring the city and partying at the hostel bar. I can only say, stay here, if you are a solo traveller you will make memories for life, and for an extra tip, start practicing your fab karaoke songs, you can thank me later ;)! Cheers, mates! come visit to Scotland (Special thanks to Jack, Max and the rest of the reception/bar team for making us feel like at home, miss you already all!) :D

Very rude stuff, very low service, the pictures and reality are wayyyyyy different, the only beautiful thing is the view from the bar, everything else is just so bad, the mattress was catastrophic, they don't allow you to bring food or drink to the reception (which they call it bar) they ask you to buy from there, and there's no other place where you can stay and bring your snacks and eat with your friends, even if on the platforms they mentioned that they have a reception, but when we was there they said we mentioned on the platforms that we don't have a reception. And at the end they said to booking that we didn't show up, while we were staying there, a big scam this hostel.

One of the best hostels I have stayed at. Excellent staff, especially Jay, the bar manager. Murat and his team go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. Lovely breakfast, good views from verandah. Well done guys!

Good: + This hotel is what you want when you are looking for a good value for money relationship. The location is quite good, only 7 minutes away from Theodosius Dikilitaşi (Obelisk of Theodosius) on foot and the way there is quite entertaining (there is even an interesting Mosaic museum on the way, albeit overpriced). + Breakfast is good, neither variety nor quality are to be highlighted, but it is quite good. The view is astonishing. The staff is lovely, very attentive and they do theme nights. +The triple rooms are big; the beds are comfortable. + The heater works perfectly. Improvable: - The sink in the bathroom is just awful, the water pressure is too high. - The lamps do not have all the light bulbs in them, which is kind of weird. - They did not clean the room at all on the first day, - They did not change the towels in any of the days. - Payments with card has a fee of +10% which is abusive and makes no sensw nowadays.

We stayed at Bucoleon Palace House. The room had enough space as a hostel room. But the cleanliness was what was missing. Especially in bathroom. There is also no possibility to air bathroom, so you have to open windows of the room itself. Not good if the weather is cold. Air conditioner was broken. There is really no place to put your clothes. Breakfast was good, not many choices but still good. The Staff was friendly. And the Location of Hostel has ideal distance from Hagia Sophia/Blue Mosque etc.

Stayed here for 4 nights. A great place in a great location, breakfast included! What made it especially impressive however was Jay Styler, essentially the resident concierge. He makes you feel very welcome, introduces you to the other guests and makes sure you never feel alone whilst creating a warm and friendly atmosphere, would highly recommend.

This hostel is totally a great place if you want to economise your money, but want to chill out fully. Because through the window, it is possible to see the blue Mediterranean and ships. Life in Cheers Lighthouse is funny and songs played by admins are great. I will remember this stay for the rest of my life even though I will encounter more excellent places, the Cheers Lighthouse will remain peculiar and intrinsic. Nature of Istanbul is gorgeous and esoteric, magical. Astute sceneries and service. Thanks for all, Staff of Cheers Lighthouse.

10 over 10 Best place in Istanbul, the best sunset and sunrise views i ever witnessed from an open terrace with open sea views. The stuff energy it's beyond great, Murat, emir and of course Sinan. Variety of breakfast from pancakes, fruits to multiple options of cheese. The vibes in cheers are beyond magical. Clean bed sheets, brands new bathrooms, the living room with open sea views. Magical. Beat place price, quality and energy

sub-standard accomodation. Got a basement room with The door that opened to balcony didn't work. No tea/coffee or drinking water in the room. Final day when checked out , no hot water so had to shower in freezing cold water. Light rain and bathroom ceiling started leaking. TV didn't work, a dead phone in the room , why ? Breakfast was below average. Overall a stay I want to forget !! I don't know why it's rated as a 3 star.

The room has a stunning view from the window, but sleeping with the open window is a bit noisy: the entrance to the Eurasia tunnel is right under the windows. The hotel staff is quite polite. All the sights of the old town can be reached on foot. The room was clean and tidy enough, but bed linen… It’s high time to throw it out! It remains a big mystery to me how the cleanliness rating 8.6 has been obtained. Holes, huge yellow spots (hopefully, coffee / tea) that might not be washed away. The mattress cover is my separate pain... Why did I look there? There were plenty of male and female hair. The whole history of the hotel is on bedding! Better to go to Ibis Budget, but sleep on clean white and crisp bed linen.

Fun stay at this hostel! Location is decently close to many sights and right near the water (nice view from the common area terrace)! Atmosphere was pretty good and they hosted events each night in the bar area. Only complaint is lack of communal kitchen to use and limited places to shower.

Stayed here multiple times, cheap and friendly. It was a great entry level place for me to stay upon my first visit to Istanbul. I’ve consequently loved visiting since, met some amazing people both staff and customers, joined the bar crawls, joined the other social events and never had a dull moment!

Stayed in this hostel for 8 days for a study trip and it has been the best vacation I ever had. The location is great for visiting historical monuments and the balcony view on the water is amazing. The very friendly staff (Jay & Murat) organized multiple fun activities for us, e.g. BBQ and a pub crawl. I would definitely recommend this place if you ever want to visit Istanbul!

The place is just perfect! I reserved myself one night at this hostel, and could easily chat with them over the phone through WhatsApp, in the confirmation email they sent it stated airport transport. In comparens to the rest of Istanbul it's quite expensive, you'll pay 50 euros for the taxi, but it takes out all the mess figuring out the public transport. But the good part starts when you arrive at the Hostel, or Jay (runs the bar) or Murat (runs the hostel) will meet you, and tell you all about the place! I read some reviews about Jay running the bar, so I had high expectations. After a night I booked one more at their hostel because it was such a good place with even better people. Just a must go when your going to Istanbul. You can meet all kinds of international people and it's a cheap hostel with even a sea view when you're having the perfectly fine breakfast! Next time I'm coming back I'll make sure to be there on Saturday because they do a pub crawl which I missed out on this time! Thanks you Jay and thanks Murat for the great time

Absolutely legendary hostel experience for anyone looking to have a great time in Istanbul, don’t bother with anywhere else. Central location, and Jay and Murat pull out all the stops to give everyone a hell of a time. Every night there’s a hosted event like Shisha, beer pong, happy hour night, or pub crawl tours where Jay gets everyone totalled. Great location and pricing, 10 out of 10 would get liver damage here again. And now, a haiku: perfectly poured beers Jay and Murat, true sickcunts Stay at cheers lighthouse.

Rooms are terrible quality: no place to put items in shower. Bed sheets don't fit the bed. Blanket is too short to cover feet. Closet door cannot open because bed is in the way. Toilet roll is not in a holder because holder does not exist. Tv volume is squeaky and does not work. Window does not have a mosquito net. Balcony is shared. This is the "deluxe" room

I stayed there for 3 nights. The rooms are spacious with comfortable and clean beds. The staff is very kind and helpful. The bar has a wonderful view on the ocean with the sailing ships. Breakfast is nutritious and healthy. I would definitely recommend it.

Very basic room in hotel opposite where we thought we were going to be. Poor condition with curtain half hanging off and wires sticking out from wall. People sitting outside shop opposite talking late into night and early morning making sleep quite difficult. Great location but expensive for what it is.

Cheers lighthouse was easily one of my top 5 hostel experiences ever. The place was neat, well kept and the views were incredible. The guys managing the hostel will go above and beyond to ensure that your experience here will be unforgettable. Namely: Sinan, Murat and Jay who arranged daily events and created such a lively atmosphere amongst the people staying at the hostel. They had a theme every night, bbq, belly dancer, karaoke, free shisha and the famous pub crawl hosted by Jay. Do yourself a favor and book your stay in Istanbul at Cheers lighthouse.

my stay at cheers lighthouse hostel was amazing, the staff was very helpful, gentle and always smiling. the room were clean and equipped with every necessity. it's location is perfect to visit the city or to go to the airport. the staff were very helpful when i needed a lift from the airport when i first arrived to istanbul providing me with a lift that was ready at the exit of the airport waiting for me. i really don't have anything to say more about the place than i had the best week and i hope my comment will be helpful for other people to have the same experience that i had

Excellent place to socialise specially when you are traveling solo. They arrange lot of activities like pub crawl and sightseeing tours. The breakfast in the morning was really delicious and there is bar inside for you to catch up. Rooms were really clean and the view of sea from the terrace is incredible. Team was really cooperative specially Murad and Sinan. !!Highly recommended!!!

This hostel is amazing. The beds are comfortable, the showers are nice and warm, the rooms are clean, and most of all, the people really add to the atmosphere of this place. The Cheers Lighthouse team are extremely fun, caring, and polite. There are activities at the hostel everyday. (I think I might have done all of them) There is karaoke, delicious bbq nights, pub crawls, belly dances, and shisha nights. (I might have missed something) You will never be bored here and if you want a quiet night, the rooms remain quiet even when there are parties going on. Stay here. I am sure you'll love it as much as I did.

This was a very good hostel experience in Istanbul. The room was great and the nightly events were fun. Shoutout to J the bartender. He's awesome and I was taken care of within my whole stay. When I come back to istanbul I will return here again. Great for couples too as the rooms are roomy. It is close to places but the area isn't the greatest for local foods. You'd have to do some walking to get better food. But overall the hostel itself is safe and they really accommodate you. Best drinks in town.

Excelent experience in historical Istanbul just a few minutes by walk to the Sultanahmet mosque and Hagia Sophia. Good view for the sunset. Super good breakfast and all the people of the staff are super worried about the confort of the guests. Many activities everyday organized by the staff so be prepared for have a lot of fun in this awesome place. Totally recomended.

Staff were amazing and beyond helpful - top vibes. There are hostel run events ran every evening, guaranteeing you will always have an evening plan if you want it. The rooms are clean, and some have nice balcony views over the ocean - depending what side of the building you are on. The breakfast is very good and there is plenty of it. Watermelon being one of my favorites for some sweet sweet hydration (especially if you had a couple of 'blue Jay' cocktails the night before!). Location is amazing for quick access to the Hagia Sophia, blue mosque, tram stops and food/drink. Had a great time, twas absolutely smashing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My best friend and I stayed at Cheers Lighthouse for 5 nights in late July 2022 and we had the absolute best experience! The location was perfect - Great views and close to many tourist attractions. But what made this Hostel truly amazing were the staff. Jay, the bartender, Murat, and Tumay made our stay so much fun! We played games and enjoyed the events they had every night. The atmosphere was always positive and fun, and the food and drinks were great. For two female travelers, they made us feel comfortable and made our stay in Istanbul truly amazing. We will be back! ❤

This was my best experience. Highly recommended to be at here. They organise different parties everyday. Specifically on Saturday, the belly dance with barbecue and games. Host are really great and cooperative. Breakfast is also good. Location wise close to prime tourist destination (Hague Sophie).

This is the best place if you are thinking to go to istambul! The location is great, with a really good price relation. The place is so beautiful and clean, but the best I can praise is the atmosphere. Is the best place to go if you are a solo traveler to meet other travelers. Jay, Sinan and Murat were great, they even let me to keep my bag without check in. So nice to meet this kind people.

  • 5/5 Alex R. 1 year ago on Google
Its in a great location close to the sites you’ll most likely want to see. The staff are absolutely incredible and made the trip even better. If you have the chance go on one of Jay’s pub crawls, you won’t regret it.

This hostel delivers exactly what is promised. Clean rooms, a big healthy breakfast and a beautiful view of the ocean. (Better than most hotels in Istanbul) The real assets though are the team running the show, Murat , Sinan and Jay provide a warm, welcoming place to relax, drink a beer and hang out. I spent 7 days here and wouldn't consider anywhere else if i go back to Istanbul. Thankyou guys, see you soon. #4balls1cup

For the price you pay, there is absolutely nothing to fault Cheers Lighthouse. The rooms are comfortable enough, the area is safe and really close to the sights, and the facilities clean. But it's the staff and people who make this place as great as it is; everyone who works here is lovely, welcoming mostly solo travelers like family. Every night there are social events, beer is flowing, and music is playing. The Saturday night BBQ and bar crawl is especially worth it-- fantastic value and really helps you meet other travelers. Do yourself a favor-- stay here when you visit Istanbul.

  • 5/5 Ashley F. 1 year ago on Google
It's a good hostel in a great location to be able to see the historical sites and explore the old town. The rooms were decent, but to be honest we didn't spend much time in them because we were either exploring the site or enjoying the atmosphere of the Hostel. Jay the bartender runs an awesome place. There are always fun activities on, and the music, drinks and chat is flowing. Jay was fantastic at creating a cool culture the Hostel owners should be proud of.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hostel. The staff was the greatest (especially the barkeeper:) and they always came up with ideas for events in the evening. The breakfast was quite nice and the view from the terrace is to die for. It is in a district with many sights, that people who come to visit istanbul will surely want to see, so it’s perfect for the first arrival:)
