Great Hostel, stayed in the private twin room for 2 nights and it was perfect, room was comfortable, apart from shouting outside at 2AM. Breakfast was good and continental. The lounge area was lovely also. 100% recommend!!

The location is great, right in the center, close to transport and you can do a lot on foot. The hostel's facilities are very nice and modern, as the photos, and their bedding is very good and clean too. The beds at the top are very close to the ceiling (not comfy), the closets are very thin, it doesn't fit a handbag and you have to rent the hairdryer to use it. In addition, at my check out, one of the employees at the reception was very curt and unhelpful when I asked for information.

Amazing stay! I had never stayed in a hostel before, but three friends and I found Stayokay after a very bad experience in a different hotel and it was fantastic. The front desk workers were very kind and helpful and the lobby had a great atmosphere. We got a room with four bunks and it had a separate shower/sink/toilet which was very helpful when getting ready in the mornings. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfy. Downstairs, they had a great buffet style breakfast for 9 euros and had a ton of options. The first night we got there, we were able to order snacks and warm drinks, so it was very comforting after the hotel we had just come from. There were always people wandering around or sitting enjoying drinks and chatting with friends. I loved the traveling atmosphere and the food and the rooms and overall it was a great experience!! I would love to stay here again.

I really liked this accommodation! The rooms were very clean and the dorms had lots of locker space. The pillows were a-bit average but that is somewhat expected! It was lovely being so close to the park and it didn’t take long to walk to the centre of town. It had the potential to be a really social place, however it wasn’t. Overall if I was to visit Amsterdam again I would happily return to StayOkay :)

This was ideal for my group and I. It was pretty central for the price. It was so clean, the staff was amazing. I loved the vibe of the common spaces—there was so much room to hang out. They had board games, food, and a bar! Theres an area to donate products and borrow some. You can also rent a towel. It was fantastic. The breakfast was not very exciting but you don't have to opt in for that. Overall, great!

The people working there are nice and professional. They let us check in earlier. I would thank them again. The location is good. You can leave your bags in the lockers, for free, and they are big, but when you put your pin code its very uncomfortable because the other people waiting behind you are also looking!! The dining area/bar looks nice. Beds are clean we checked them, no bed bugs. The negative points: The party kids! When we wanted to sleep we were surprised that they kept their roomdoors open and be loud, I went to check what is their problem and they were smoking inside! The upper-beds! My friends used the chairs to get to their beds! It was really not easy. The metal sink in the room! When you want to wach your hands it is very noisy at night. The room smells a bit.

We really enjoyed staying in Stayokay hostel. The staff were very friendly. They helped us a lot for our questions. The room which was assigned to us was directly looking at the Vondelpark and that was amazing. Probably in our next stay in Amsterdam we will be staying in here!!

The hostel is not right in the center but still in an easy to reach location. The rooms are large and clean. All the services are there and the environment is well looked after. The lounge café at the entrance is very welcoming. Friendly and helpful staff. Prise in line with the Amsterdam cost. Overall excellent experience: I recommend it

The quintessential European hostel experience. Great location (next to a lovely park), great energy, bar is top notch, food is quite good, plenty of unique spaces to relax or socialize. Diverse crowd, lobby and bar have a nice vibe. Rooms are comfortable and quiet with proper bathrooms and good water pressure in the showers. Hard to beat the price for the location. Staff are friendly and helpful. There’s a friendly cat. Oh and all the delicious water you can drink!

Cozy place at the heart of Amsterdam. You are close to all public transport stations, great restaurants and fast foods, multiple supermarkets, Amsterdam's old town, cinema, casino, and more! Super helpful staff, kindly and accommodating in every way. I did not eat at the hostel but they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner (need to be booked or paid separately)

We stayed in a private room with 6 beds. The room itself was clean but we had to pay extra for towels with is a first for us. The other surprising thing was how strict it was with food and drinks. We couldn't eat any of our own food inside the hostel as they wanted us to only buy food from their cafe. It was more of a hotel than a hostel really. I've never been at a hostel that didn't have a kitchen for people to use. It's probably because this hostel has tons of rooms... The best part was the location. The location is fantastic being right next to the park. Most of the staff was super nice except for one person who ran all the way upstairs to tell us we can't eat our baguette even though it was just in our bag.

Very nice building ( old school ) - rooms are very comfortable with big windows. Good location, just front of a park and close to city center. We will definitely come back!

What a lovely hostel. Super clean and friendly. We were holidaying with our two adult boys (22 and 19yrs) with separate Comfort Rooms. The rooms were clean and well presented. The staff are super friendly and the service always came with a bright smile. A good range of meals and drinks, the normal beer was the cheapest we came across in Amsterdam. We would not hesitate to stay again as the situation at Vondelpark was brilliant. Thanks to all the staff who are superb.

Great location and nice interior in the hotel lobby. The rooms were disappointing. Our rooms were older than the ones on the photos. Bad ventilation, only a small part of the window can be opened. Everything costs extra.

It was a really nice stay! This is a big hostel, so don't expect to meet as many people as you would in some smaller ones, but it's so clean and the rooms are smaller, so it feels like a hotel even. The bar/kitchen downstairs is great as well.

We stayed in the 20-person mixed dorm room, as two women, and it was a great experience. The hostel was welcoming with key cards for entry, security guards on site, and lots of storage space for large backpacks! It's in a great location as well! I would recommended this hostel to anyone visiting Amsterdam and will definitely be stayed here again!

Right next to the Vondelpark, nice rooms, really good breakfast with vegan options (vegan yogurt, soy milk, humus, bread, cornflakes, granola, fruits). You have to buy a lock if you want to lock your closet. The only little con: the rooms are not that soundproof: our neighbors were really loud and you could hear every word. But all in all a really good experience, I would recommend staying here :)

Fantastic hostel - brilliant for all groups. Location is fantastic as the park next door is beautiful, and short walk away from shops, bars & tram links. Loved our stay here & would be back again.

Stayed here for February 1/2 term with wife and 2 children (15 & 10). Excellent location by park (quiet overnight), room functional but fine (2 bunk beds). Staff friendly and helpful. Downstairs area lovely and breakfast good value for money.

  • 5/5 Eliane C. 7 months ago on Google
Pros : A very nice and clean hostel. Location a few steps from the tram and very central to move around. If you don’t like public transportation you can also walk to downtown, pretty doable. The staff is nice and helpful. The area is quiet at night (didn’t hear any parties during my 3 nights stay), next to a nice park. My 3 roommates were respectful. Cons : My locker was stuck behind the table, whenever i wanted to access it i had to ask for my roommate to get up from her chair while she was eating 😅 Toilets are not separated from the bathroom, 2 of my roommates were spending their whole time inside the bath, I could barely use the toilets at night/in the morning. I was so pissed to wait i ended up using exclusively the public toilets next to the reception. Not enough mirrors outside of the bath and some coat racks missing (you know it’s rainy in Amsterdam, please add some more hahah) Was there during summertime, very hot in the rooms, no air conditioning. A bit expensive for a hostel but in Amsterdam the accommodation is insanely overpriced 😂 Anyway I am very pleased with this hostel. Will definitely come back here next time.

Stayed for 3 night with family of 4 with 2 teens and grandma. Fantastic location for everything we wanted to do. Easy to catch bus/tram to other parts. Breakfast was excellent. Having the bar and some food choices at night was also great. I don’t normally stay at hostels but with 5 people this is an excellent choice. It’s very simple but all you really need for few nights in Amsterdam. Lots of families, backpackers, kids groups. May be a little “too family” for some of the usual hostel crowd but was great for a larger group.

Amazing stay! I have never stayed in a hostel before, and was very surprised. The staff are very kind and helpful, lobby had a great atmosphere. 4*for room bzc you can't open the windows and it was air-cooler that you can set just for 120 min. Best ever location. I would love to stay there again.

Fantastic hostel in an amazing location, a 10 out of 10 in everything. Rooms were super clean, shower was excellent, quiet location, breakfast at €10 was great considering that everything is expensive in Amsterdam, friendly and helpful staff, family friendly, more mature generations were welcomed too ( myself included). Strongly recommend it, and I’ll be back for sure.

It was OK. Just. We had a room for four which could have done with a good clean and a mop. The breakfast at 9.5 euro isn’t good value unless you make it your lunch too. Downstairs bar / cafe looked OK. Location pretty good.

Nice, modern hostel right next to Vondel Park. The hostel was very clean and is located 30 minutes away from Amsterdam Central. The breakfast was simple but sufficient. The staff should work on their English skills, as they were sometimes hard to understand.

  • 5/5 Stewart G. 7 months ago on Google
Loved it. Friendly staff, great vibe. They have a bar on site and you can buy breakfast on site too. Lots of common areas (think technically part of the bar). During the 29ᴼ weather the top floor was hot during the night, but you could borrow fans with a €20 bond, and this is exceptional weather for Amsterdam. Nice location next to the park. Would definitely return when I return to Amsterdam.

  • 4/5 Faye P. 6 months ago on Google
Really nice looking hostel, the downstairs area is very comfy and good vibes, but everything is so expensive! No facilities to make a tea or coffee in the morning, you have to pay €3.60 just for a tea! The breakfast was overpriced at €9.50 for just bread / cheese / ham / yogurt (no hot dishes). I guess this is standard Amsterdam prices, but for what we had paid for the rooms I expected at least tea or coffee making facilities. You also have to pay for a towel. Other than that, the hostel was nice and quiet at night and I like that they are big on sustainability!

  • 5/5 Tanner 5 months ago on Google
The rooms are very bare bones but for the price this is one of the best deals in the city. The downstairs common area is very nice and the staff is very welcoming. Definitely stay here!

Book a room is not “expensive “ but once you get there , they are going to charge for everything. Adaptor 12€ Towels Blow Dryer Breakfast And do not forget taxes for each guest and each day. Be aware if you have another option. Easy 100€ plus

Amazing location and facilities. Loved that they have a garden in between the buildings, such a nice sight to wake up to. The sunroom is still in the main building but more quiet, great for getting work done.

Stayed here for 4 nights from a Thursday to a Monday at the start of October in a 6-bed female dorm. Overall a pretty clean and modern hostel, sink / shower / toilet were all separate which was convenient for the dorm setting. I stayed in the City building (has a view of the city) and heard that the Park building is older and not as nice. One tall metal locker is provided, but found them a bit on the thinner side (which made it difficult for ppl to take their carry-ons out of the locker without banging them around and making a lot of noise at night). Room space is quite small, so just make sure to keep the middle area clutter free. Laundry was quite expensive (around €9-10 for a wash and dry) and there's only 3 of either machine, which can be quite a wait. Location is a little further out from the city centre, but super easy to get to via a tram from Centraal station, & I found most places were around a 20-30min walk. Definitely was a little less expensive to stay in this location than the one near the station. Only downside was lack of social activities, especially as a solo traveller. Only saw a pizza making night advertised and there weren't any bar discounts for ppl staying at the hostel (bar was pretty dead on a Saturday night). Good thing was that it wasn't loud at night and was easy to sleep. People of a variety of ages stay here as well, from school groups to young adults to older people. I was fortunate enough to make friends with others in my dorm.

We booked a couples room but ended up being in a private 6 bed room which was good as we could spread our things out more. The rooms were clean and tidy including toilet and shower. Also the hostel itself was really quiet and pleasant. Quite a few school trips happening and young people there but wasn't disruptive at all. The free breakfast was really good, wouldn't say it's that COVID-secure as there is only hand sanitiser and people weren't really using it. The bread rolls were fresh, coffee was good and there were plant-based milks such as alpro soya and oatly. Tea was not great. Cruesli granola was delicious ! There was a "greenhouse" with booths in that you could have breakfast which was so nice and a good start to the day. Don't sit in the middle one as that's ours ! The staff at the breakfast were really nice and helpful if things had run out. We were on a cycling trip so there was secure double gated bike storage and we were able to leave some luggage in the hostel store. Location near Vondelpark was really great, wish we had made more use of the park. Also close to VG museum and only a quick walk to the city centre around 20 minutes. Thanks a lot for the lovely stay !

Staff friendly Great location Rooms clean and fine. Downside was it was very noisy at night. Some guests were partying in their rooms and banging on our bedroom doors at 1am. Sadly it seems to be targeting more the party clientele than other hostels we have stayed in. We were a family group so didn't enjoy the late night noise.

Amazing amazing amazing. Nice to stay with friends. Sometimes there’s small insignificant bugs (like tiny spiders from the park- even as I have a slight fear it wasn’t an issue; so try to get an higher floor) Don’t buy the overpriced insignificant breakfast. Clean bathrooms. V friendly day staff. Perfect location (in Amsterdam being in city centre doesn’t yield a large advantage. Trust me don’t do what my friend did and get Flying Pig. (I’ve been to this hostel 3 diff Amsterdam trips thus far)

The rooms are very tidy and everything is well maintained. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms just have bad ventilation (Had to prop the door open for a while for a breeze), and take bigger padlocks. The small ones can still be opened even if it's locked😶

The staff here are exceptional. They go above and beyond with their customer service when my friends and I stayed there. The aesthetic of the location is nice, and the rooms have a good amount of space and is comfortable. It is also located right beside a park, which is nice because we were able to relax outside comfortably.

Good for solo travellers as well as groups. The beds are placed in such a way that you get privacy even in a 10-bed dorm. The bathrooms are far off from the beds so there is no disturbance. Good breakfast. Nice bar and sitting area near the reception.

I loved everything about the hostel. Great location near the Vondelpark making you love the green surroundings and close to many other attractions like the Van Gogh Museum. I loved the way the whole hostel was colourful. It felt great sitting by the lounges. The rooms have very huge lockers where you are sure your stuff is safe. The room I was in was very quiet and this made my 3 day stay in Amsterdam great. The other 3 ladies we shared the room were. Very good and made my stay feel like home. The hostel was clean too and accessible by public transport. There is a Spar and Albert heijn store nearby for you to grab something to bite or drink. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Check in was seamless Transport tickets are also sold at the reception and you have a chance to ask any questions which the staff gladly answered just as their tee-shirts said ‘ask me instead of google’ 😊 The breakfast was great too. I highly recommend this hostel

Location was great, about 8 mins walk to the nearest tram station. There is a convenient store (SPAR Express) nearby. Staffs are very helpful and accommodating. Just one thing to improve the experience is to have a luggage storage room for us to keep our luggage after check out, instead of using a payable coin lockers. Stayokay Utrecht has such storage room.

Great location, central everything an easy walk, but on leafy Vondelpark so quiet and green, really friendly helpful staff, great atmosphere in the communal area and bar, we had a family room which was really modern and spacious! Would definitely go back.

Stayed here for a night in February 2020. Super solid hostel right by (of course) Vondelpark. Staff was friendly, price, given it's Amsterdam, was fairly decent. Only real knock against it is the lacking kitchen; otherwise, hey, the stay was indeed okay.

  • 5/5 Stoyan N. 11 months ago on Google
I recently stayed at the Stayokay Hostel in Amsterdam and I have to say, it was an amazing experience! The hostel's location is perfect - right in the heart of the city, with easy access to all the main attractions. The design of the hostel is beautiful and artistic, creating a really cool and welcoming atmosphere. And most importantly, the hostel was spotlessly clean! But what really made my stay so special was the staff - they were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to offer suggestions and answer any questions I had. Overall, I would definitely recommend Stayokay Hostel Amsterdam to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the city.

Good hostel, not too far from city center. Rijksmuseum is just a 5 min walk away. Location is also in a quiet and nice place, next to a big park. Staff are helpful but check-in check-out took lot of time, there weren't enough staff. Especially during checkout when everyone checks out close to the check-out time. Issues I faced - * My cupboard locker did not come with a lock or something, so bring your own mini padlock * Extremely hot in the rooms, the only source of ventilation are the windows and it really doesn't help much, it gets really hot in the rooms, need some fans or something for ventilation * Long check-in check-out times, lack of staff during peak hours

  • 4/5 Kloetee 1 year ago on Google
Typical Hostel, good prices, amazing location. Sadly the rooms tend to be very hot, you can't open the windows all the way. (Understandably so, just saying) If you plan to go out drinking in the evenings or just strolling through the city, this is a great spot, as you can reach a lot withing walking distance.

DO NOT STAY HERE IN THE SUMMER. There is no AC, the windows don’t open, no ventilation in the showers, and the only fans they have to rent are tiny *heaters* — stayed in a 4 bedroom ensuite with my pals and two of them were so hot they couldn’t catch a wink in the room at all. Literally one guy slept outside in the park it was so hot in the room, sleeping in dirt outside completely sober was more comfortable. The rest of us were so disturbed by the heat we couldn’t spend much time in the room without wanting to leave. Otherwise, nice clean common area facilities and chill staff, nice location. Just don’t expect to sleep well in the heat.

The hostel location in pretty good. Everything is just so organized! Also, there is a restaurant/cafe at the place. There’s even a lounge where you can study/work with good internet. The only reason I’m taking one star off is for the staff. At least with me, they were not that friendly.

Our stay in stayokay was amazing, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice, clean and big enough. We stayed in a comfort room and we found every details we needed. Besides, the hostel has a soul, it is a very young place. Even though Stayokay Vondelpark is called hostel, it was more luxurious than most of the hotels. We hope to come and stay again.

Location is great, i think the prices are normal for an amsterdam hotel. Perfect for just spending the night. Simple hotel. Expected to have towels by default, but we had to ask for towels and pay for them (2 euros each, they change the towels for free if you want.)

two stars for nice staff and decent location. the rooms and beds are not that comfy. very cold. no privacy curtains. reeks of weed. lack of rules. nice bar/common area, though. i just wouldn’t stay at this hostel again. prices in amsterdam are expensive.

Nice hostel. Welcoming and nice staff. There are however few improvements particularly to the bar. first no beers on tap just bottles. You have to look for the staff at the bar to serve you. Rooms wise, they are clean and all amenities are new. This said some top beds are straight to the ceiling so not easy to access particularly at night and not make noise. Probably my own experience. Great location. Overall it is a nice hostel would recommend however small Little things can be improved to make it 5* hostel.

The staff is quite friendly! I stayed in a four-bedroom female dorm and checked in at 9pm. It's the best esthetic I've seen at any other hostel I've been to. Be sure to bring a Padlock for the lockers! Pros - lockers available in rooms - quiet hours are between 10pm-7am - lots of common spaces - friendly service - comfortable beds - close to Vondelpark - secured entry after hours and secure rooms - easy for solo travel - plenty of food available inside, with good hours Cons - if you're sharing a room, it's very noisy and echoes a bit - breakfast is available at an additional cost - no outside alcohol

Lovely receptionists who will help with any question. I'd recommend the comfort 2 bed room but don't get towels as they are included. Nice little view of canal if you end up on right side of hotel. Expect to be a 16 minute walk to nearly everywhere central. And 1 hr drive to the beach. Lovely for a 2 night stay.

I stayed at this hostel in a dorm with 10 co-ed beds. I was the only female in the room and the men who occupied the same room were very respectful. The room was very clean. I appreciated that each room came with its own bathroom containing 2 toilets and 2 showers. The location was perfect since it’s away from the center of Amsterdam and is close to Vondelpark. I have to give much kudos to the bartender who normally works in the evening. He is tall with longer brownish hair. He gets a 10/10 for being an absolutely amazing person. He made the best mint and ginger tea, he was great to talk to, and he just had the best personality. He made the stay at the hostel so much more pleasant and welcoming. He seems to have a huge heart and it’s obvious that he cares about people. Give the man a raise and a free vacation! Overall, my experience at this hostel was great.
