The experience wasn't great, be aware it's really a student house! First of all, the room was dirty when I arrived, full of dust. Then you face the issue with their reception, it's so full and the workers are probably students as well with no experience, although they were nice and always smiling. I had to ask for 3x for the cleaners to come, I gave up and cleaned myself. Plus the room has a lot of failures, like shower curtains not properly installed, holes in furniture, etc. Lack of kitchen as well. What is nice: king-size bed was great! Also the fact that there was (kind of) air conditioning. In general: if it was cheap like a hosted, I'd say it's a very good choice. But for the price, if you aren't a student with low expectations, I'd recommend not staying here for too long.

The staff is horrible and doesn't try to help with any of your problems. I literally had A ROBBERY happen to me and they were not sympathetic nor did they endorse any of the belongings that were taken even though it was b/c of their horrible security. My doors were all locked. It was just a mistake staying here and I am never going to come back.

It is spacious and clean at this campus style establishment, has self check in and is surprisingly quiet. I wouldn't say it has some significant unique qualities as a hotel though. The negatives you may want to consider are: unannounced test alarms solely in Dutch, poor customer service in terms of quality interaction and timely response to customers and tables, a judgey attitude towards women smokers ( by women employees, not cool ladies), poor climate control in rooms. Cool stay but definitely a 4 star due to that quality drop in service.

We were coming back from Paris and we had to stay in Amsterdam for one night before our flight the next morning so I was looking just for any hotel to spend the night and leave, but it met my expectations in a way that Iā€™m ready to book in the same place next timešŸ˜‚. I mean itā€™s cool, thereā€™s no waredrobe or safe or minibar fridge, but the size of the room is very good and itā€™s clean, the bathroom is spacious and clean: okay the hand sink is very small šŸ˜‚ but yet what I care for while traveling is the cleanliness of the place. That was very important to me, cleanliness.

Was a really great place to stay and would recommend to anyone looking for something with the quality of a hotel, but with a more chilled, youthful, student vibe. The communal areas were great and the rooms were comfy and clean with massive beds! Breakfast was probably a little overpriced for a continental, but was handy as it was just in the lobby. Great location (near to the metro and tram) which both get you into central Amsterdam within 20 mins!

Very disappointing - I'd advise booking a room in the Clink Noord Amsterdam instead, it's much better from my experience. I don't like leaving bad reviews but this place deserves it sadly... - Cost: massively overpriced for what you get... you get a small, shabby room in some old skyscraper and it felt more like staying in a cheap motel/ semi-prison cell here than in a hotel. I felt trapped in here as I had this place booked for a week... The only reason this place still exists and gets away with this daylight robbery is because Amsterdam has a housing crisis and tourists are desperate to find an affordable room. - Location: don't believe the 'good location' tag on review pages like Booking.com. You're literally outside the Amsterdam ring road motorway in a place that feels like a ghetto - you don't get the Amsterdam experience here at all as the city centre is not conveniently walkable. The tram/train access is an option but walking takes ages. -Customer service: really, really bad - you get the feeling that all they care about here is taking your money and they couldn't care less about their customers after stating there. I emailed this hotel 4 times about my bad experience and to get some partial refund as the photos/description online was misleading. I never got a response from them until my last email, where a room upgrade was offered next time I stay. This seemed tone-deaf to me as I never want to return to this place again. I also flagged the issues at reception in person when I checked out and got a lollipop..it felt almost humiliating! Don't believe any responses they write on here btw.. they just try to polish their image and sound kind - if they cared they wouldn't ignore 4 of my emails..

Very nice and young hotel! Thanks to the tram and metro (which are both next to the hotel) youā€™re in the city centre in 20 min. I had really a pleasant stay here, Iā€™d come again!

Just a basic hotel, if you want to save money itā€™s fine, otherwise look somewhere else. The tv wasnā€™t working, the phone wasnā€™t working, they had a problem with my reservation the first night (overbooking they told meā€¦), the bikes are not free but you have to pay for using them, the people are not so kind. Nice the free laundry

We had deliberately chosen this hotel and had booked it weeks in advance. Since our trains were late, we reached the hotel in the middle of the night and longed for a bed. We had previously announced our late arrival by email. Latest when receiving this email would have been the opportunity to make aware of the overbooking of the hotel. Instead, two 18 year old girls on their first trip together, arriving at 2am had to find out only in the hotel that the previously booked and already paid room was not available. We had deliberately booked the room directly through the own website to avoid such situations. In addition, there was no proper apology from the hotel staff. We were very convinced of the hotel and had been looking forward to spending time in a trendy, young hotel, but instead we ended up in a hotel that we would not have booked ourselves. We were very disappointed with the experience and do not understand why the situation was not handled better. That we now also have to "chase" our money for the cab although something like Uber could have been used where the payment could have been made in advance directly from the hotel is all the more annoying. And as if that wasn't enough, I still haven't received the money I'm entitled to. There is no response to mails or calls. The greatest impudence I have ever experienced.

The Social Hub is a beautiful hotel nearby the metro station in Amsterdam, here I and my girlfriend could found an excelent and well trained staff. We had a lot of fun in the structure and we suggest this hotel for everyone.

1475 euros for a tiny room with the ugliest decoration you can imagine, being stalked 24 hours nonstop, the whole administration is chaotic, canā€™t keep the same price, secret rules you canā€™t find anywhere then charge you extra. Living there feels like living in prison, picking up my post and being asked a bunch of questionsā€¦ Entering your room without permission no privacy respected. I have so much to tell but if you want a whole boarding school experience without learning anything be my guest!

A very good hostel, super great staff, clean wonderful rooms. Weird front steps rather narrow. I would recommend this place and would stay here again.

Great location right next to a metro stop and a tram stop. This is by far the best thing about this place, other than most of the lobby staff being so nice. *Most* - one particular desk clerk at night is terrible. More on that later. They do let you register with the city here, so if you need a temporary place to stay and register in Amsterdam / Netherlands as a resident, this is helpful. You can receive mail and packages here. There is a decent gym, laundry room, library, work area, large lounge, pool table and more. Many conveniences which are good for tourists, temporary residents or people transitioning here. Breakfast buffet is ā€œokā€. The cafe is also ā€œokā€ with very limited options, mostly sandwiches and baked goods. Too much bread. There are basically zero non-bread options. Please offer something besides a huge plate of bread. The whole world doesnā€™t eat sandwiches all the timeā€¦ The hallways are a bit stinky and so are the rooms. Maybe itā€™s the old carpet. Itā€™s impossible to get the musty smells out of the rooms. This is not my first time staying here; same smelly issue each time. The long stay rooms look and smell like they havenā€™t been updated in 30 years. Maybe longer? The mattresses also feel like they havenā€™t been changed in decades. Cheap, sunken and mushed down. The multicolored ā€œblanketā€ on the bed looks like itā€™s been there since 1992. At least. And itā€™s not even a real blanket, just a thin cover thing in the ugliest colors/pattern ever. They definitely need to get rid of the musty old carpet, old mushed sunken mattresses, and ratty old ugly outdated bed covers. Housekeeping for long stay: 1 week they didnā€™t provide hand towels. The next week they didnā€™t leave any toilet paper so I bought my own. (At over ā‚¬3k per month, I do expect at least the basics like TP!) The third week they left TP and towels but no trash bag. So far, each week they have forgotten to provide something basic for the room. For the prices they charge, this is just not good enough. The dishes provided in the long stay rooms - super minimal and basic. The weird combi oven thing is WAY TOO HIGH, and completely unintuitive to operate. The button symbols on it are utterly useless, and it has no words at all. Moreover, the thing is placed high in the upper cabinet area, which is fine if youā€™re 7 feet tall. Not so much if youā€™re of normal human height and trying to get hot food out of it. If youā€™re under 6 feet tall, you will have to reach food literally over your head to get it in and out of the micro-combi-oven. NOT practical AT ALL. Iā€™m sure more than a few people have spilled hot food on their heads when trying to take their dinner out of this stupidly-placed appliance. This might be the worst kitchen design idea ever. If anyone in management reads this, PLEASE PUT THE COMBI OVEN THING LOWER. The overall design of the long stay rooms is also not nice and looks super outdated. The dark green paint color on the main wall in the room is hideous. HIDEOUS. Please get rid of this ugly wall paint! Staff: Most of the lobby and cafe staff are super nice and helpful. However, one male desk clerk who works the night shift has a terrible attitude and likes to accuse paying residents of stealing, for simply asking to pickup their own packages at the front. He sits at the desk staring at his phone, paying zero attention to people walking in, then if you walk over to the cabinet where the packages are stored and ask for your packages, he takes an attitude and accuses you of stealing WHEN YOU ARE NOT TOUCHING ANYTHING. He has done this three times with me. Clearly he has some weird issue. Maybe thatā€™s why heā€™s only working nights. The staff who work here in the morning and afternoon are great. Only this one male night worker (who was working the desk on the night of Dec 18, 2023) has such a negative attitude. He brings the whole vibe down. Maybe he needs more training on how to not treat customers like criminals. Or maybe he just needs another job, if he is so bent on treating people like criminals. Not a good look for a not-cheap hotel.

A student friendly hotel with great access to both the city centre and the airport. Super friendly staff who are always happy to help and answer the questions. However it wasnā€™t the cleanest hotel Iā€™ve stayed at. The only reason Iā€™m not giving 5 stars is that I wished they asked me at the beginning that weather Iā€™m sensitive to noises or not instead of randomly assign me to a building right next to the train station. When I went in Paris, the first question the hotelā€™s reception asked me was weather I want a better view but more noisy room or a more quiet but no view room. This is great because not all people can sleep with the train commuting every 5 mins until 1 am and starting again at 5 am. Maybe it was possible to ask them about changing my room, but as I already unpacked my stuff it was hard for me to move again. So if you want to stay in this hotel, but you are sensitive to noises, try to ask them not assigning a room in the ā€œRail houseā€ to you. Other buildings are on the other side and probably much more quiet and peaceful. Overall, I give them 4/5

Great place to stay in with your friends. The name of hotel really represents what it offers. It is really a social hub with places where you can socialze with people and have a good time whenever you are the hotel. Rooms are quiet clean and the service is very good. Staff is nice and very helpful.

Very nice place with friendly staff, affordable breakfast, big terrace, games etc. A bit too loud to study if you dont have really good headphones. Soap was hard to press (also in handicapped toilet). No clue about the rooms.

āāāāā My stay at The Social Hub Amsterdam West Hostel was an absolute delight! This hostel exceeded all my expectations and deserves a solid five-star review. First and foremost, the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming. The common areas are stylishly designed and comfortable, making it easy to meet fellow travelers and strike up conversations. The hostel truly lives up to its "social" name, fostering a friendly and inclusive environment. The staff members are exceptional. They were not only helpful with any questions I had but also offered great recommendations for exploring Amsterdam. Their knowledge and enthusiasm added a personal touch to my stay. The dormitory rooms were clean and well-maintained, with sturdy and comfortable bunk beds. The inclusion of individual lockers for valuables was a thoughtful touch. One of the standout features of this hostel is the communal kitchen. It's spacious, well-equipped, and a fantastic place to prepare meals and share experiences with other guests. Plus, the onsite bar adds to the social aspect, making it easy to make new friends. The location is convenient, with easy access to public transportation and various attractions. Whether you're looking to explore the city or simply relax at the hostel, you'll find plenty to do. In summary, The Social Hub Amsterdam West Hostel offers a top-notch hostel experience. It's the perfect place for solo travelers and those seeking a sociable, comfortable, and memorable stay in Amsterdam. Five stars all the way! āāāāā

The rooms were small and didn't really look like the picture but, as a place to sleep it did the job. It was a very lively hub and I love the concept. Breakfast was tasty and a wide selection. Parking was a problem but found somewhere a few minutes walk away. Situated next to tram and train stops so easy to get into Amsterdam.

This experience felt like somewhere between a hostel and a hotel situation. The customer service definitely feels like a hostel - as in it seems like it's a lot of students working so they don't really know what's going on either and felt quite unprofessional at times. The rooms weren't cleaned on time, the sinks were all clogged, etc. I also found a lot of hair on the towels/beds in general. The location is super close to the station, take tram 13 (pay with any credit card) to the city center. It's really convenient! The facilities itself is really nice, loved the free laundry, the gym, and working space, etc. The internet is extremely fast which was what i needed for working. Working space seemed nice for working as well. For the price I would stay again, just don't expect hotel like customer service.

Great budget hotel! It's college dorm style and caters to students but we're both 30 and had no issues. 6th floor was nice and quiet, easy to get sleep. Room was basic, but cute and clean with a nice desk. AC worked great and the communal laundry in the basement was easy to use. Location was great--literally right next to tram and train lines that can get you downtown or anywhere else you want to go very easily. We did not feel like we were missing out at all by being farther out from the city center since the transit was so fantastic. It's also close to the airport which made travel days less stressful. The only con was the shared kitchen. We were hoping to use it more but when we arrived almost all the dishes and silverware were sitting dirty piled up in the sink and that never changed. It's pretty typical for shared/dorm style kitchens but we did end up eating out more than we planned to since we didn't feel like doing a whole sink load of other people's dishes to make it usable.

Sharing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the experience my partner and I had during our stay at your hotel. While there were many aspects of our visit that we enjoyed, there were some critical issues that left us feeling ignored and neglected. Firstly, we noticed that certain essential items in our room were not being replenished regularly. Throughout our stay, the soap and shampoo in the bathroom were not refilled, leaving us with no choice but to use alternative personal care products. This inconvenience diminished the overall comfort and quality of our stay, as we expected these basic amenities to be readily available to guests. Additionally, we encountered a serious safety concern that went unaddressed. The shampoo handle in our bathroom had a sharp edge, and unfortunately, my partner had an accident while using it, resulting in a visit to the emergency room where he received three stitches. We immediately reported this incident to the hotel staff, expressing our concern for the safety of other guests as well. We kindly asked if the shampoo handle could be removed or replaced with a safer alternative, as the sight of it caused distress and discomfort. However, our report was not acknowledged, and no action was taken to rectify the situation. The lack of response and action from the hotel management made us feel utterly ignored and rejected as guests. Our safety and well-being should be a top priority, and it is disheartening that our concerns were not taken seriously. This is a clear indication of poor customer service and negligence on the part of the hotel staff. We expected a much higher standard of care and attention. Unfortunately, our experience has left us with a negative impression, tarnishing what could have otherwise been a pleasant stay. We sincerely hope that you will take our feedback seriously and address these issues promptly to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. As a responsible and reputable hotel, we believe that your commitment to customer satisfaction and safety should be unwavering.

Shame that along with the rebrand they have taken the opportunity to hugely cut costs making this place even less suitable for non students despite moving away from student branding. No more food in the restaurant apart from lunch. Bar closes at 1900 at the weekend. Useful things like books are no longer in the rooms- rooms very much lacking any soul now and the downstairs is an absolute mess. Real shame won't be staying again how can this be a social hub without a bar...

I stayed here for 15 days. Really good accomodations for long stays. The staff is very friendly and nice. The cleaning and room services occur sporadically tho. So I dropped a star for that. Also the common facilities such as the gym library, laundry room, free bike and the sports facilities were an added surprise for me.

The Social Hub Reception has allowed itself to host a fraud job fair in it's own reception. It is a shame coming from a student hotel who clearly trying to find the best way to lose it's credibility among it's target audience. Free Advice, do not host job fair in your reception.

Great experience. The room was clean, spacious, bright and modern. The staff is very courteous and friendly. I could check out late, staying an extra few hours. Nice coffee machine. The bathroom was great. Functional gym and library in the basement.

Be careful if you will stay there during the summer , rooms donā€™t have AC they have climate control. So on a sunny day it becomes very hot in the rooms and almost hard to sleep. The place is cool though with a nice gym and friendly staff.

Place to feel the energy of youth, I thought. Modern, definitely a hub for meeting and connecting with people. Interesting little books for any type of creation you might have in mind. You can even check yourself in and out personally. Walking distance from all attractions, practically, centre of Amsterdam, very close to metro and tram station, you can get anywhere. Buzzing, young and practical. Definitely recommend staying and will definitely stay again, loved the little touches with jokes.

My girlfriend and I picked this hotel because it was one of the least expensive in the list. We didn't expect it to be so good! It felt like being in college again, there are so many young people, there's a really good vibe, it really does feel like a social hub, the ideal solution if you travel a lot and want to make new friends. The rooms are big enough and clean, the shower box is huge. We had very little contact with the staff because self check is smooth and we had no problems whatsoever.

This was such a fun hotel! The lobby was actually a cool little hangout with games like pool and ping pong, even a photo booth. They also served food and drinks. The rooms were very comfortable and nice to relax in. I think this was one of the best finds I've had traveling around Europe and I won't hesitate to stay here again!

I tried the ling stay at TSH west Amsterdam.. the experience was great except for the shared kitchen! I enjoyed being close to all daily facilities such as: gym, working area , cafe act.. People working at the reception are the best! And trained well to give the best experience for visitors.. I would stay again at the TSH, however this time i will choose to stay in a studio and avoid shared kitchen. Beside the student hotel thereā€™s the best cafe you will try in that area!

lack of professionalism. Itā€™s disaster with their staff. Most of the staff not capable and run Hospitality Industry. They never smile and never solve your problems and questions. Even their managers also lack of knowledge of Hospitality industries. The biggest problem of this hotel is the Value of money. With long stay and same amount of your spending you can get better service from another hotels. They always want to cheat you and grab your money as much as they can. The cleanliness are the most important for this current situation. What they provide for maintenance the cleanliness? Nothing! Mess everywhere. Even in your room. So much dust everywhere and every corner. Be aware with their scam. Always compare with another hotel.

It is probably not a great idea to stay in this place for a full academic year. My room had a problem with the air conditioner that was working too loud. In brief, the hotel has a central heating system so all air conditioners work from one engine and they are always working to adjust the temperature within the rooms. Mine was working too loud and there was nothing to do about it. When the worker came to check with it, his response was: "Is it the same in all rooms?". Apart from that everything was pleasant. The staff are very friendly, facilities are well furnished.

  • 2/5 Dan C. 2 years ago on Google
TSH is comfortable enough. The best part is the rooms, which are cozy. They're small, but the size isn't the issue. The rooms are almost completely lacking in furniture; it's fine for a short stay but not for the multi-month stays they advertise for students. The service is far worse. Rooms are serviced once per month. Service consists of one fresh towel and a quick once-over, no vacuuming or anything really helpful. The common facilities also fail to keep up with demand. The laundry room was completely out of order for almost two weeks, the gym is barely accessible, and you can count on the restaurant to be closed whenever you actually need it. Considering the price, TSH just isn't worth it. Find somewhere else.

  • 5/5 Tonio C. 2 years ago on Google
TSH is the place to be as student ! We come for only 4 days, but I understand why there's so much student coming for months or years... The atmosphere is trendy, with services made by and for the student... The room was clean, silent and pleasant ! The only negative part, is the location, 20-30min by train/subway and tramway

  • 4/5 shahaf 2 years ago on Google
Overall a good hotel to stay in. Relatively clean, the bed is very comfortable. It's extremely close to all the public transportations. The downsides: The price is too high, in my opinion, compared to the somehow distant location - you need at least 20 minute of public transportation to get to the center, and more to get back at night. Hot water in the shower is not that hot in the first place, and runs out quickly, even on warm days. That's very unusual to hotels, where you usually feel like there's endless supply of it. Having a cold shower at night isn't fun. Tldr; you can find just as good hotels with similar prices closer to the city center.

Room was clean and nice, with some free stuff like coffee and tea. It had all the equipment for cooking and the staff were very friendly. The lobby is very amusing because of the ping pong and billiard table. I also enjoyed the breakfast! One problem was that maybe the staff donā€™t know everything and they usually should ask another colleagues. So for example we got charged for things we shouldnā€™t have because of our extended stay. Although they refunded us so itā€™s fine.
