An excellent place to fulfill ur Indonesian cuisine cravings. I missed it, since I can‘t find a good Indonesian restaurant in Germany. We ordered Reijs Tafel so we had 10 different kind of meals and one big bowl of rice (for 4 people) we even got Kerupuk and Empfing as appetizer, BEST! The owner is Sundanese, just like me. For me the taste and seasonings were all well-made, authentic, fair price and portions. Love to go back!

We stumbled upon this place when visiting Amsterdam. We know Amsterdam has some real Indonesian cuisines to offer. But this place completely exceeded our expectations. The food is absolutely delicious. The service is on point. We ordered the RAMAYANA set dish shown in picture. The spicy dishes are not for faint of hearts. But you are in heaven if spicy food is your thing. I recommend call ahead of time to reserve a table.

My search for Indonesian cuisine on my first visit to Amsterdam brought me to Kartika for its great reviews. I walked-in without any reservation but I was still warmly welcomed to dine-in for a pre-determined duration. However, I did not feel rushed and was given exceptional service and attention by Michael despite him having his hands full. This place not only serves authentic Indonesian cuisine like those I could find in Indonesia, but Michael truly displayed what Indonesian hospitality genuinely feels like.

They let us in even though we didn’t have a reservation and treated us with so much kindness. Food was the best I’ve had since I’ve come to Amsterdam. I was dying for some flavour and spice and it was PERFECT. Every dish was so well prepared and thoughtful. They even gave us delicious coconut lemon ice cream and jasmine tea at the end! Thank you ❤️❤️ Will visit Amsterdam again just to have the food again 🇨🇦

Genuinely one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Great service as well, the food came out astonishingly fast. I love the collection of small dishes, it lets you sample a large variety of food while eliminating the pressure of choosing. Every single dish was delicious. Decent price too.

AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING.... IF i could give this place 6 stars I would. The staff we courteous and really helpful despite have to run around non stop in this busy restaurant. I was really keen to have some authentic Indonesian food having eaten it a lot with Indonesian families when I lived in Nederland years ago and nothing about this was a disappointment. The food was excellent and the rice table with small portions of many dishes was perfect to try indonesian food for the first time or reminisce over past meals. Do make sure you book as that fact that the quality is so high means it is difficult to just walk in. If you are looking for glitz and glamour this is not the place for you, this is all about authentic taste, quality of food and a family run restaurant and thag is exactly what you get. I can't wait to go back!!!!

Amazing food, welcoming and caring staff. Highly recommend. The rice table menu is great if you want to try out most if not all of the main dishes that the restaurant offers.

Best Indonesian restaurant in Amsterdam, imho! Service is great. Be sure to reserve a table because it’s extremely popular place and to bring cash.

this was absolutely one of the best meals that i’ve ever had. the combination of flavors that my mouth experienced can only aptly be described as a heavenly amalgamation of love, but even that wouldn’t be doing it justice. the rijsttafel selection that we had, was fantastic and ther service was incredible. i would describe myself as a player hater to the maximum, so the fact that i am going out of my way to leave a review is surprising, most of all to me. this restaurant is phenomenal and i will be recommending it to everyone in my life, in spite of how annoying it might get.

Visiting Amsterdam from the UK. We went to Kartika for supper and loved the food, the service and ambiance. It was such a special treat that we booked a table for our last night so we could return. I loved the attention to detail - the waiter explained to us what each dish was and how it was prepared. Highly recommend a visit

The experience was very very good. The servers were super nice. we took Ramayana for 2 (different dishes). The level of spicy is perfect. At the end, we got a little lemon ice cream on the house. Love this place. But better book ahead. Terima Kasih

My first visit to Amsterdam, and my hosts brought me to Kartika, a gorgeous Indonesian restaurant in town. We shared the Shinta, which included a selection of vegetarian dishes. My boyfriend and I are vegan, and the staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating when we mentioned this. Only a couple of the dishes had egg in them, and this was kept separate (the other two members of our partner are omnivores). I couldn't fault a single dish. It was all absolutely delicious and I would not hesitate to recommend Kartika to anyone. It was great value for money also, and we only paid around €30 each for the Shinta and drinks. Thank you for making my first visit to Amsterdam so special!

4.25 stars. Managed to get a walk in table but recommend booking as others were turned away. Service was very good - polite, friendly and attentive. Food was great. Had the rendang and mixed satay. About €45 for 2 with a drink.

This was our first Indonesian food experience. The waiter was so patient and kind, he took his time explaining all of the dishes that came with our platter. The food was so good. A few dishes were a bit spicy for me, but that’s because I’m a baby.

Great food and very friendly customer service. We ordered a Rijstaffel for two and it was the right portion. Rendang was cooked in Javanese way though, so it might taste different if you’re used to Sumatran rendang.

I’ve lived in Amsterdam for almost two years and tried several Indonesian restaurants and this was hands down the greatest dining experience I’ve had. The food was incredible and the service was impeccable. I brought out-of-town guests and everyone loved the food as much as the experience. Will be back many times in the future - it’s our new favorite!

Best Indonesian I've had so far. The rice table was full of different amazing flavours. Loved the rendang above all. The service was above expectations, fantastic! Thank you for the lovely food experience!

    - First time trying Indonesian food - Food: Ordered 2 ramayanas (€25.90pp) and honestly was full at the end of the meal. Generous rice portions. Big fan of the sate ayam (grilled chicken with peanut sauce), ayam kecap (chicken filet cooked with ginger and soy sauce), and daging semur (beef stewed in soyabeans sauce). - Service: Extremely courteous and polite, made us feel very welcome and explained all the dishes. Humorous too. Would recommend this place for sure.

Amazing food 🤩 My favorite was chicken sate. All of the meats were so soft and juicy. Waiters were so nice. They seemed like really loving their jobs. Especially the part he explains all of the meals. Only down side is that prawn crackers were stale but it was OK. I am so satisfied. They even offered lemon ice cream at the end. You have around 1.5-2 hours to finish your meal.

I first was exposed to Indonesian food when I traveled to Bali several times over 20 years ago when I lived in the western Pacific. I fell in love the cuisine and really miss it since I don’t have any Indonesian restaurants where I live in the US. So my wife and I search out Indonesian anytime we are in Amsterdam and found this place, what a hidden gem! The food was amazing, and brought back a lot of memories. The chips, complementary was a nice surprise, and surprisingly, very good. The Nasi Goreng with veggies, chicken, and braised beef. Beef was melt in your mouth, tender and delicious. Chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked with a light marinade. Mi goreng was perfect. We ordered the poached eggs, which were interesting, but very good in a light batter. There were three different sauces, the spicy and the peanut sauce were both amazing. Maybe the best peanut sauce I’ve ever had and I could’ve just eaten it with a spoon. The lumpia was just OK and a little overcooked. That would be the only negative. The layered cake was nice and moist, not too sweet. and lemon sorbet was a delightful and refreshing. New favorite spot for us in Amsterdam, highly recommend.

Great Indonesian food place with various beer options. Expect to spend more than 20 Euro per person but the amount of food and the taste are worth it. A bit noisy and crowded for an introvert like me, but the general vibe is good. The server I had was really diligent and friendly. Got the lemon ice cream at the end so I didn't have to decide whether to order dessert.

I had an absolutely amazing meal here! Seriously, one of the best dinners I've ever had. The staff were incredibly welcoming and generous, and the service was spot on. We ordered the Ramayana, and they took the time to walk us through every item on the platter, which was a really nice touch. The food was all incredibly delicious. As an Indian, I was hoping for a bit more spice, but that's just my personal taste. Overall, I had a fantastic time.

Really enjoyed dinner here. The indo rice table tasted very flavourful and was generous in serving size. The service staff was also very friendly and welcoming too. Highly recommend anyone who is craving Indonesian food to give this place a shot.

Very nice experience. There was a bit of the queue on the saturday night but it went quite fast and there was a nice waiting room with chairs. The interior had a cozy vibe and the rijsttafel was very good and served quickly.

Really wonderful experience. We had the meals with all the dishes like a tasting menu, one with meat and one vegetarian. Really flavoursome, some spicey some not. Service was excellent, very polite and funny too! Really highly recommend this place .

6 star experience with Indonesian cuisine. Tasted their meat rice menu with multiple course specimens. The coconut flavoured beefstew was the best. Kartika is definitely a bucket-list restaurant. 👌👌👌

Authentic Indonesian Restaurant. We had Rice-table and it was excellent. Mommy cooks, she really is - as her son says - the best cook in the world. The restaurant has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended to go there.

We ate great food (the Ramayana menu) and were well advised on how much to order. The service was excellent and the bill very reasonable. Working front of house on his own in a full restaurant, our server could not have been more attentive or considerate. We would highly recommend Kartika and will visit again.

Went to Kartika just to try something new. We were not disappointed. As we both appreciate Indonesian food, we ordered the rijsttafel for two. The variation was good, and the service was fast (and a bit anonymous). Of course with Bintang, the light Indonesian beer. Will come here again for sure.

A cosy, intimate restaurant good for a date or with a small group of friends. The food is absolutely delicious and the portions are quite good. Both the price and service blew this place out of the water, however. The service here is truly outstanding. The dedication and attention to detail when serving their customers makes this one of the most special spots in Amsterdam. I will be definitely going back!

My favourite restaurant in Amsterdam! I've been going here consistently for 5 years and it never fails. All the staff are fantastic and provide impeccable service. The quality of the food is amazing for such a reasonable price. Cannot recommend enough, you must try!

We did a Ramayana for me and my wife on our last night in Amsterdam. We came in a few mins before closing and they took us in gracefully. I suggest though to come a lot earlier to enjoy the experience. ALL of their food was amazing!! Loaded with flavor and it really was very enjoyable. I highly recommend this place specially on a cold wintery evening. Do the Ramayana! You will be super fulfilled!

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why.
