Hand down the BEST Indian restaurant in town ! Amazing experience since the very beginning, Singh received us with such a kind smile and welcomed us to the restaurant. Every single dish we got was 10/10, we ordered lamb chops , prawns , chicken curry and tandoori was just out of this world. I definitely recommend this place The prices and quality definitely match the food.l, real Indian food and spices. Would come back for sure

Great place to have Indian food in Amsterdam. We accidentally found this place after completing the Heineken experience. The restaurant is 2-3 mins walk from Heineken experience or one can take tram 24 from Amsterdam central station and get down at Marie Heineken. We loved the food and the service therefore visited twice after our first visit. During our three visits we ordered Butter chicken, chicken Tikka, Aloo paratha, onion kulcha and raita. Their kulfi and kheer are yumlious (both were offered complimentary to us after each meal) Food - 5/5 (Combination of Aloo paratha and raita, combination of chicken Tikka or butter chicken with Aloo paratha... Lip smacking combo's) Service - 10/5 (the service was way beyond expectations and the owner offered us sweet dish complimentary after each meal. Twice we paid the bill and we're walking away the owner came and invited us to have the complimentary sweet dish) Ambience - 5/5 (their outdoor seating is just apt for current weather, at times cloudy and at times sunny. As you sit under the shade you can still experience and enjoy the weather with yumlious food) Tip - If you not hungry and need something to just fill your tummy try the aloo paratha and raita will will cost u less than €10 and still filling. Better than the pizzas n burgers. A special shout out to the owner for great service and food. Amazing Indian food away from India.

Delicious Indian food but I must point out the NAAN are epic.. they are fresh and light and just amazing … we ordered chicken dhinsak- not a big fan, paneer butter masala - yumm! Complimentary rice.. the host is very accommodating and pleasant ☺️

They have indoor and outdoor seating and location is very nice. The prices are a bit higher but the great food quality definitely justifies it. It was authentic indian food, good portions and great flavor! Unfortunately the service we experienced was not good. The waiters were friendly but rarely checked on us and were very difficult to flag down. It took almost an hour until we got our food. We were 4 people but we all together only received 1 small portion of rice. We could have certainly asked for more rice but we felt that by the time we would receive it, the food would be cold. At the end, we went inside whenever we had an order or wanted to pay. Please improve the service as otherwise its a great place.

Fancy fine dining Indian resto. Nice table set up inside. The price is reasonable. Everything was delicious. The staff are nice as well. The wait was a bit long. I don't know if it's the chef that's taking too long to cook the food or the servers are just taking their time. Overall, food was great but the service was not. I would still recommend it but you should be willing to wait or hopefully the owner will improve the service.

Absolutely love this place. Food served was authentic indian taste. I went there twice during my stay in Amsterdam. I tried paneer butter masala, Dal Fry, Dal Makhani, kheer, Mango Lassi, tandoori roti, butter naan, aloo parantha and I can say it was awesome. Cost was around 20-25 EUR per person if you have starters, desserts and main course. Staff was very polite and hospitable. The owner also interacts with the customers to make them feel homely. I found table available on one occasion but it was quite occupied. I would suggest to reserve a table during peak hours directly on their website. It’s a hassle free you get the confirmation immediately. 110% recommended.

I was not sure what to expect and this was one of the only places still open, but we were pleasantly surprised by the food. We had the “daily special” which was grilled chicken , a spinach-cheese sauce and rice and some starters and it was overall pretty good, albeit nothing extraordinary. Service friendly.

Excellent food quality & courteous service. Reasonable price for a really expensive neighborhood of Amsterdam! Mixed Briyani was just too good!

We went there after reading review and the food was absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly. The quality and quantity was both awesome. The location is great. We feel like we can go to Amsterdam once again just to have dinner in Taj. The owner is very kind and gifted a Pen to my son which was out of the way.

I am a bit apprehensive about eating Indian cuisine in Netherlands coz there are very few place which genuinely serves Indian food. Thus went to this place fingers crossed but to my surprise ,their food tasted exactly what I needed i.e is Indian. We took 3 thali - the special and non- veg one. Enough for 3 ppl.Rice dal and veggies were refillable.Go for the dal and the best one is in dessert- kulfi...yummilicious😀.a bit higher on price but that's Amsterdam for you.

Food was delicious and the staff was friendly. Been here before a couple of years ago as well. Still the same taste. Location is also nice, with outdoor seating if you are lucky to have nice weather :)

We got here by accident just by searching Indian Restaurant near me over google map (in Aug 2014) and it stood above our expectations. Lovely place to have Indian food in Amsterdam. One can take tram 24 from Amsterdam central station and get down at Marie Heineken. We enjoyed the food and the service and couldn't get time to share our review however got time now to review pictures from our trips and share our reviews. I only took pictures of the serving which attracted my attention.

we ordered 6-7 different curries, 5 different starters and few other dishes I am writing this with only one intention to make it known to everyone that if you want to eat Indian flavour food then this is not the place. 1. Mutton curry had pieces of mutton which was not properly cooked, these could have been cooked for 10 more minutes, curry was like a novice has prepared it. 2. So called specialty of theirs, Chicken tikka masala had sweetish flavour as well, not at all expected. 3. Curry of Chicken karai was flat…chicken karai is supposed to be full of flavours and curry tasted like it is coming from a ready to cook packet. 4. Dal makhni was average 5. Paneer butter masala was also average 6. Mutton biryani( beware: it is not biryani at all) some rice fried with mutton pieces( which are half cooked and partially cooked, which makes it impossible to chew) 7. Seek kebab: it was salty…i could only taste salt in it but it was properly cooked. 8. Butterfly prawns: oily, deep fried prawns again missing spices, flavours 9. Chicken tikka: lame, just pure lame chicken tikka…half cooked 10. Onion bhajji were laughable, we had to leave most of it. 11. Garlic naan was good. Overall i would never recommend this place to anyone under no circumstances. There are way better places to eat indian food. Portion size and their prices do not match. And the waiter kept on saying that this will not be enough and then we ordered almost 9 gravy for 9 people and then we had a lot of left overs. Very uptight service, please order all the main course at once and they will also bring it at once, They cannot hold the two biryanis for 10 minutes after bringing our main course so that we could have that while it is hot.

It was a happy accident that we found Taj. My friend and I had just finished our tour at the Heineken Experience when it suddenly started pouring rain! Since we were far from our hotel and starting to get hungry, we decided to kill time and wait out the rain by walking to the closest restaurant. Needless to say we were very impressed with the food, the attentive but not overbearing service, and the super cozy atmosphere. We needed something comforting and flavorful, and that's exactly what we got. We ordered the butter paneer as our main dish and the veggie korma as our side, with garlic naan added on. Everything was so, so good. The veggie korma was definitely on the sweeter side, as our server let us know. The butter paneer was creamy and spiced perfectly. The garlic naan was thinner than what I've had before and better for it! It was flakier and went so well with the food we ate. Not shown in my photos was our mango lassis, which were sweet and tangy. A great addition to the meal. I had the best time in Amsterdam and will be coming back. For the city and for Taj!

I’m a month late writing this review but I went here on the 9th September whilst on vacation in Amsterdam and it was such delicious food! I got the Dal Fry as a side with a peshwari nan, the proportions were great, lovely service and friendly staff. Was such a lovely moment sitting at the front of the restaurant on a sunny day, take me back please!

I’m visiting from the US and I thought we had some perfect Indian restaurants around my home in SoCal…Taj showed me I haven’t had the BEST Indian food experience until today. The food was INCREDIBLE, the atmosphere is cozy and the servers are so friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The next time I’m in Amsterdam this is the FIRST stop I’m making to have a bite…or two. Thank you!!

Incredibly tasty food served in elegance is what you would get at this restaurant. Every bite of my meal today reminded me of the delicious taste of my own country India. On top of it, owners of this restaurant are incredibly humble, polite and caring. I got there drenched because of heavy cold rain and owners went above and beyond to take care of me. They offered me hot tea even if I did not order it and topped off my meal with the delicious dessert without charging me for it. I have no right words to express my gratitude for such an amazing hospitality. If you are in Amsterdam and are hungry to feed your soul then stop by and try their delicious entrees. I highly recommend it.

Maybe tonight was a bad day for them, but I wouldn’t recommend eating here. After waiting around 50 minutes for the food we ordered, I ask (I think with good reason) the waiter if they maybe had forgotten our order. He answered a bit defensively that in that restaurant the orders take around 45 minutes because they cook everything from scratch and nothing is prepared before you order. Maybe a cheap excuse, but keep that in mind in case you want to choose this restaurant. The taste of the food was 7/10. No one was blown away by the flavor, but probably we were not in the best mood at that point.

The first thing I liked was very attentive and friendly staff, who helped us with everything. They also had brochures about India which I found very cool and interesting. And the food itself was just amazing. The menu is really broad, I believe everyone could find exactly what they would want for. I couldn’t recommend this place more:) P.S. if you come here you should try Lassi Sweet, it was really good and I haven’t seen it in other Indian restaurants.

We had the pleasure of dining at Taj Indian Restaurant the other night and it was a great experience! The food was excellent, well-prepared and had an authentic home-made taste to it. Full of flavor, freshly made, and presented nicely by the staff. Service was very good as well. We even spoke with the family owners, who were gracious and friendly and appreciated our business. I highly recommend this place if you are staying in Museum Quarter and want some great Indian food. Job well done Taj!!! Hope to see you again on our next visit to Amsterdam. All the best!

A great Indian Restaurant in the De Pijp area of Amsterdam. The chicken curries were delicious. The Whole Wheat Roti is the best part which is not very common in Europe. The staff at the restaurant is super friendly and courteous. A must visit place if you are looking for an authentic Subcontinent (Punjabi Style) food.

First time we eat at Indian restaurant in Netherlands. Food taste was just good. Quantity of food served is comparatively less in comparison with one in Germany. Otherwise I could have rated 4.

Tasty, spicy Indian cuisine. Waiters were fasts and competent. Portions of rice can be a bit small, but I understand that we are not in Asia.

This restaurant is fantastic. Good combination of good tasty food and service. Would recommend the garlic chicken tikka, madras and the naans. Madras is hot but not over the top. Can’t wait to come again. Highly recommended!!

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why.
