I had a terrible experience at Taiko Bar last week. My friend and I went in for dinner at Taiko and then to the bar for a last drink. We ordered a limoncello and a regular priced whiskey. However, the waiter suggested we try a different whiskey, without mentioning the price. We assumed it would be in a similar price range, but when we received the bill we were shocked to see that the Japanese whiskey he recommended cost 70 euros per glass! Not only did the waiter mislead us, but he also didn't provide us with any information about the price of the whiskey, which is extremely unprofessional. We felt taken advantage of and scammed. We didn't even enjoy the whiskey that much, and it ruined our night as we were now burdened with a hefty bill. Also, the waiter assumed me and my friend were staying at the hotel, so it seemed as a strategy to rip off tourists. Overall, I would not recommend Taiko Bar to anyone. The service was dishonest and the prices were exorbitant. It's a shame, because the atmosphere and location are quite nice, but the bad service and lack of transparency regarding prices makes it a place to avoid.

Such a nice experience. The whole building is so great and the restaurant it self as well. The staff is polite and friendly but for me personally a bit stiff (but I prefer a more informal approach). The food was really good and it all came at a nice pace. The wines that came with it were great and combined in a good way with the dishes as well. We will be back for sure in the future

If you are Dutch - don't go, you will not appreciate. For those who are into speciality food, high class service and fabulous interior design - this is one of the rear places in Amsterdam that actually is awesome. No Soviet style hipster dining in this restaurant. Amazing experience, delicious food.

We went to Taiko on my birthday (2 persons) and were greeted friendly at brought to our table. The hospitality is good. Interior is dark and moody in a modern way. Feels comfortable. We had a table in a more intimate corner. We chose the vegan omakase menu. It consisted of many courses, where multiple dishes were served. The other option was an omakase with meat/fish or a la carte. Small minus point: ideally we would have both picked a different menu, but we had to order the same. Amuse was served swiftly. After that we had a very nice build up of courses with different flavors. Fresh and light to smokey and heavy. A lot is Japan inspired but you will also find curry and peanut sauce. Most dishes had contrasting flavors which I enjoyed. There were only 2 dishes I didn’t find special: one of them a sea pizza with too much mayonaise or what the condiment was. For the rest I have to applaud the quality, creativity, eye to detail and service. All very good and we can only recommend going there and also taking the vegan menu, which is more than surprising.

This is certainly one of the finest restaurants in Amsterdam, a city full of good food. The setting and lighting is elegant and first rate, and the Asian inspired menu including delicate sushi and sashimi entrees are excellent. We tried the tasting menu, which comes with full wine pairings and dessert. Be ready with 5x$ budget, but well worth it. The kitchen here turns out sushi and lamb with equal skill, so we took their pictures.

Great, even excellent food, but shaky service and a cramped dining room. There were a whole crew of wait staff, and the primary waiter for our table was excellent. The rest were not always polished in their presentation. We went for the 8 course omakase menu with sake pairing and actually ended up wishing we would have taken the wine pairing. That's totally down to me discovering that I like wine better than sake. One or two glasses of sake would have been fun but I'm not attuned enough to the nuances to get into it for a long meal. Live and learn. Kitchen was slow and not really coordinated with the drinks service. The table next to us even complained that they had been waiting a very long time between courses. Atmosphere is gorgeous, as you would expect from the location. You're given time to soak up the atmosphere, our meal was four hours from coat check to paying the check. We didn't really mind but it did become a bit noticeable towards the end. Tables are so close that servers have to squeeze. There is not very much privacy. Doesn't feel premium. Could have done without the random live Japanese drumming. Biggest fail was the fortune cookies at the end. They had a terrible taste, like burnt paper. Unfortunately you then literally go out the door with a bad taste in your mouth. It's really delicious food, many dishes wonderfully innovative. Very glad to have eaten here and had the experience. But if going for a dinner at €250 per person, next time I will probably look at some of the other excellent options in town.

THE BEST OMAKASE in Amsterdam - HANDS DOWN! Each dish took us through a journey, starting in Thailand, then Japan, then India, then back to Japan. The team and the chef Pedro truly took my boyfriend and I through a culinary experience. Pedro even came out to explain the dishes, which made the experience that much more special! Each dish was so unique and packed with flavor - unlike ANYTHING my boyfriend and I had before. I would come back to Amsterdam JUST for Taiko. You can’t miss the omakase when you’re here! Pedro and his team are BEYOND talented and made our anniversary memorable!

Truly an incredible meal. Dined here with three other Americans who love fresh sushi/omakase and this did not disappoint. Excellent service from the minute we sat down, cocktails were healthily sized and delicious for the price, the restaurant was busy (entire meal service was about 2.25 hours) but we were definitely attended to by our waiter and felt like we could order or check in on something at any time. Choose the full tasting menu with sake pairing and would not have done it differently. Five star flavor, timing, portion size, explanation of dishes etc. etc. etc. the meal was definitely high on the price range but for the quality and experience I would pay for it again without a doubt. Our waiter Jesse was excellent, would highly recommend for anyone in the city looking for an excellent and creative Japanese meal

Service is kind and place is really amazing. I personally loved dumplings. I definitely recommend them, both the ones with prawns and the ones with shiitake. Overall it was a great experience. Maybe too much expensive, but I would say it's fine considering that we eat fresh fish.

Fusion at the highest level! Excellent tastes and structures, beautifully designed and so delicate to make it possible to enjoy some excellent wine pairings. Friendly service. We had the Omakase extended version and had a great experience. The place is a bit overcrowded. You can easily hear what you neighbor is talking about, despite of the prominently present ‘lounge’music. Also there was nobody to hand us our coats when we left. We had to take them ourselves. Very peculiar for an establishment like this. Tough luck!

Wonderful ambiance in an upscale hotel restaurant with alike customers. We went for the 8 course dinner and it turned out into an overall good experience. Bear in mind that this is an Asian inspired cuisine and for that it deserves many credits. Many "local", read from the Dutch province Zeeland, ingredients with Asian twists. The problem I personally have with Asian fusion cuisine is that to me it never excels the traditional dishes, well prepared with the best ingredients. This holds true for the sushi that was served. If you ever tried a perfect sushi you will taste that the sushi rice was subpar prepared. No big deal for a sushi chain restaurant but at this price point it should not be. Nevertheless, dining at Taiko Cuisine will fuse you and your company with great food, great service and ambiance.

The food was delicious. A bit pricey but worth every bite. We didn’t order from the menu. Our recommendations is the black cod, green curry, crab sushi, the sashimi, and the cinnamon desert. Enjoy !!!!

It unfortunately happened that my reservation did not work out completely which only got clear when we arrived in. However, prior to coming I called the Hotel and asked to shift my reservation to 30 min later - which was surprisingly, checked, confirmed and changed. The way we were put through waiting and explaining whom we talked to on the phone and the way hostess lady at Brasserie welcoming desk talked with zero attempt to solve the situation or at least find some solution - was the most disappointing experience! This is not the service level you expect to get in this amazing hotel, which its truly magnificent atmosphere.

Absolutely stunning. We took the 8-course vegetarian menu. Go here, it exceeded our expectations. And don’t forget to take the sake pairing.

It was overall very very expensive, one of the most expensive restaurants I have eaten in Amsterdam. The quality and taste of the food was far from what I expected. There were a lot of tables empty, guess that was already my sign this restaurant is not so popular. After the maincourse (which also had way to much sauce, so did not taste much from the wagyu) I decided to skip the last 2 courses and finish of with a cocktail in the bar instead. Would not go back here again. There are so many great restaurants in Amsterdam where you can have better food for a lot less money. Do not recommend!!

Nice spot for celebration but feels a bit style over substance. Food was tasty when it came but portions on quite the small end (esp for the price).

My wife and I had a 7 course meal here, and it was out of the world. The attention to detail in each plate presented to us was immaculate. Every bite had a story to tell. Highly recommend this place

We had an incredible dining experience at Taiko. We went for the set menu with paired wines, which I can highly recommend. Beautiful, creative, and most of all delicious dishes and lovely wines. The service was outstanding - very accommodating, attentive and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was perfect for a celebratory dinner: chique but modern, not like other fine-dining restaurants that can feel stiff and pretentious. This place is truly a 10/10 in my opinion 👌🏼

Truly unique fine dining experience in a cozy, quiet yet trendy setting. Had the chef’s menu + wine pairing. Great service from a knowledgeable staff. Would recommend for special occasions.

The food was amazing, ambience was great very intimate and perfect for a date night. They are very accommodating in terms of allergies and preferences. The black cod and the salmon avocado sushi was delicious. The green Thai curry concept and taste was amazing but if you like spicy you may want to pick another dish. We had asked for spicy so they gave chili oil with it which we were fine with but it depends from person to person. We were celebrating our anniversary and they prepared a special gluten free cake for us. The cocktails were also quite interesting. Would surely recommend them for the service, food and ambiance.

For the high end prices, the food quality does not even come close to the mark. Average food flavours at a very high price. The service, food presentation, and setting are very well done.

If you’re looking for authentic Asian flavors, stay away from Taiko. I had really high expectations for the meal, but Taiko severely under delivered in every way. The cocktail menu was the only impressive part of the meal. Look at the 5 star reviews and see how many of those people are Asians, close to none. This is a fancy and overpriced pan-Asian restaurant for white people with no understanding of authentic asian flavors. They butchered so many of the dishes by making it contemporary and modern. Beautiful ambiance and nice presentation of food, I have to admit. Taste just wasn’t there for me, overcooked cod, lotus rice was too hard, no flavor in the bimi. It was not justified for the high € price point. Safe to say I’ll never go back. Better take your money elsewhere if you want good food.

The restaurant itself is in a beautifull building. The staff was very kind and helpfull. When you go out and eat here, you will pay a higher price than in a regular restaurant, but... it's a worthwile experience. And if you want you can continu your evening in a very nice lounge bar in the same building. Thanks for the lovely night Taiko Cuisine!

Very nice, upscale and trendy Japanese restaurant. My wife and I had the 8 course dinner, which I really can recommend. There is a lot of different flavors and tasting experiences, served to please the eye. If you are not really hungry (8 courses can be a lot), try the 4 course. The 4 star rating is that the price and tasting experience didn't add up. We paid 330 euros for 2 persons including a bottle of wine, 3 bottles of water and tips. At that price I would expect to be impressed more. But all in all a very nice evening.

Good food. But price are a bit high for what you get. Great atmosphere buy service is on the low side for this range of restaurants.

The food was incredible along with the wine. However me and my partner got to our 4th course and they poured the wine right at the start with us expecting the food to follow after… the food then took 60 minutes to reach our table and I think it may have taken longer if we didn’t ask where our food was as we had other places to be. They compensated us for our wait but it was just a little bit disappointing. I would recommend not getting a set menu and just ordering whatever you would like as I think it’d come a lot quicker.

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price.
