Upon returning from my holiday in Athens, I discovered over 30 bites on my neck, arms, and shoulders. To my knowledge, at least two other dorm mates also experienced the same bed bug issue during my four-day long stay. On my final day in Athens, I was shocked to find a bug crawling out from my underwear and onto my leg. I also spotted another one making its way across my backpack at the airport. After returning home, I have washed all of my belongings and dried them for 2 hours. Hopefully, I haven't brought back any unwanted souvenirs from Greece. However, it might not be too bad, considering these are the same bed bugs that used to trouble ancient Greeks, including Aristotle. A complete ancient Greek experience here!

There are more bedbugs than guests in this hostel. If you want to scratch your whole body for 2 weeks you should definitely go there !

Zeus hostel is the type of hostel you go to if you’re not super keen on meeting other travellers. You will have other people in your dorm and run into them in the halls, but the only “common area” is the rooftop and that’s just where people go to smoke. Price is incredible though, I didn’t have any issues and the shower was actually really good. The hostel is in a great location, you can walk to all the big sights in the city and I’m a female solo traveller, I never felt unsafe. Overall, this hostel is perfect if you want a cheap stay and all you’re using it for is to sleep 😊

This hostel has hot water 7/24, air conditioner (but noisy), to close Monastiraki and Omonia and the last of so cheap here than another hostels. **NOTE** I don't want to advice for travellers. If you are a traveller, you should be go and search near to Acropolis but if you want searching entertainment this hostel good only stay one night.

People smoke in corridors and common area is filled with long term residents who chain smoke and drink alcohol from 8am in the morning. Kitchen is an absolute filth it makes you sick. Good located hostel near to Monastiraki and few spots of the city, this is the best part. Receptionists were nice and the room was perfectly clean when we arrive. Although, I have to say also that the common area was extremely dirty, the floor, the "kitchen" (that was also unequipped for a four floors hostel), seems to be a completely different place from the rooms and it's a pity considering the common part has a lot of potential to be comfortable and welcoming.

Marina, a cleaner is nice and talkative person, she doing her work well. I have saw, customers are not so clean, they leave a mess behind them. Should feel ashamed of that kind of treatment. If want that places are clean, should clean own mess. Place is cheap, but it does not mean, that customers have a right to do whatever. Place is also more clean, what former customers has written, believe me, I see and I have a hygienic certificate from my country and done cleaning work. There read clearly, that each one should clean places after using kitchen. When I went first time, since then I've been using my time to clean that place, to make it more comfortable to stay and spend time there with other customers. So it is not right to complain about area, if not understand to look in the mirror, why kitchen area is not clean always. I gave some of my things to other free use, but I stopped it right, when someone gone to steal my food from fridge, even packet was my name and room number. So, each one who read this, know now, that place is nice, but customers spoil some things and sometimes cause some arguing between each others, but if you're nice for each one that place is great place to meet people around the world and talk with them. Also some do not care much about hygienic and cause a problems in shared room. If do not want to take care of itself, then is better take a room, where can be alone that other not suffer some stinks. Shared rooms have to take care of good ventilation, because in small room stay 4 persons and in the night is difficult to sleep well, if other smelling shoes are front of your nose... So, most of bad reviews are because of other customers and their behaving. Each hostel, as a hotel have their own rules, which we each one customers should following, it is best for everyone. If demand quality, have to remember, always that expensive is not high quality place and same can say for cheap place, it could be much better than more expensive. I have now experiences of many kind of hotel/ hostels and I recommend that place honestly. I'm staying here and some day, in future, if need a hostel again in Athens, sure come back to this place.

Also with no proper kitchen and no proper locker(except for a small one that costs €2 everytime you open it) and people smoking all the time in the dining area, this place was barely better than homelessness but not much more. It is one of the cheapest but worst hostel/hotel in Athens. However the toilet and shower room were generally good.

I don’t know how they manage to do that but EVERYTHING is broken. There is no place to comfortably sit down, the kitchen is a dirty joke and the people who work there try to avoid talking to you as good as they can. It’s cheap though and the rooms are OK-clean.

Very budget hostel in the heart of Athens. Staff was really helpful even after working hours as I need to crush only for few hours. I appreciate the hospitality and the chance to stay even for a bit. If you plan to stay on budget, this could be the place as is close to the center and got everything around.

Kitchen was barely functional and very dirty. People would often steal food out of the refrigerator. The shower was poor quality and mouldy. Rooms were fine but no lockers unless you wanted to pay 2€ per use. We also had very noisy guests in our dorm which didn't help the experience.

Big minus for the kitchen : it was not very clean, functional at best, and there were regular incidents of food getting stolen.
