The hotel and rooms were very clean and well-designed. I would definitely return. The entire staff was really courteous, pleasant, and helpful. I'm in such a good mood. Our stay was made very comfortable and easy by the personnel. Thanks For Good and Nice Design of The Hotel and Rooms...

This is most definitely NOT a luxury hotel. I would have been very pleased had I paid just under $100/night for this room, but am severely disappointed given the hype and price. The room is tiny. It barely fits a single queen beed. 3 feet from bed to a sliding door that faces a trash container for next door; 3 feet on the other side to the luggage rack. No coffee maker. No closet. (of course no mini-fridge and no microwave) No shelves or drawers in the bathroom. Only 1/2 of a dresser of drawers in the room (the other half of the dresser is occupied by the TV) Bathroom is barely big enough to turn around in - you have to get out of the way of the door to close it, then step back to the space to do what you wanted to do. No desk. No space in the room to sit comfortably with a laptop and get some work done. Come here only if you pay even more for one of the few luxury rooms that supposedly exist in the mansion itself, or you are willing to pay luxury prices for activities outside of your room.

Planned a trip from NYC to Austin a couple months ago and was looking forward to staying at Hotel Ella. Had to cancel all the plans a few days before traveling because of Covid. I tried to cancel my reservation at Hotel Ella but was told it was non-cancelable and I'd have to pay the full amount anyway. So not only did I get sick and now have to stay home, but also pay $800+ for a hotel room I won't even get to stay in. I understand they have a business to run but obviously an upsetting situation. It's hard to believe there was nothing at all that could be done to help. Hotel Ella knows how to rub salt into the wound. Won't be staying here when we rebook the trip.

While I wish I could write a positive review, I cannot. The hotel staff is nice enough, the outside of the hotel is pretty...but the windows are flimsy and allow all the city noise in. The walls are thin, and you can hear your neighbors showering, on the toilet, talking, etc. A cheap motel down the road would likely provide more peace. It is hard to sleep.

Hotel is cool. Rooms are nice. Pricing is all over the place. I came into town, was told over the phone the room would be around $300. Got the invoice, and room was $491 plus wild "taxes and fees" of another $112 for a grand total of $603 and some change. They have no parking other than valet, so add another 40 on top of that. It's not that this breaks the bank, it's the fact of telling me one thing, and then I leave and suddenly I'm seeing a receipt for more than double. That's garbage. You've been warned.

My husband and I were in Austin for a wedding and the rehearsal dinner was at the hotel and was one of two recommended stays for out of town guests. We had a wonderful experience and will not only go back but we will request the same room. We came with a dog and it was perfect to have a room in the extension with a private enclosed outdoor space outside the bedroom. The room and bathroom were very clean with nice quality sheets and towels, a perfect size nice bathroom. Only thing missing was a nice tub. The staff was great, bar has delicious top quality cappuccinos and the price was good. We highly recommend it!!!

Stayed recently and have stayed before. Generally lovely place but this last time there was some kind of incident at the restaurant. An occasional outage is understandable but the lack of communication about the status of the restaurant or effort to provide alternatives made my last stay here somewhat disappointing.

My husband and I loved the Ella hotel. It looks like the perfect place for parties and weddings. I stayed at the Ella to convalesce after a medical procedure. The staff was beyond accommodating, and we enjoyed the hotel dining, gardens, pool, and comfortable rooms. The valet staff were very helpful in getting me around when I wasn't feeling my best.

Enjoyed the new menu they rolled out, clearly! Great flavors, good portions - highly recommend. Love the new event series they’re incorporating in their calendar. Definitely going back soon!

I wish I could give the place A zero. I never leave reviews but this place has stolen my property. It started with a lovely stay and I had left a very nice and important deniem jacket. Because of the importance I immediately called because I know of the location. They confirmed it and had it ready to shipped to my location. After my time away I returned home to no return of the jacket. “Johnny” bravo or the manager there decided to make up his own lying story to cover it up and act like someone hasn’t stolen the jacket. Therefore because of the prior confirmation of my jacket through email my lawyer will be reaching out to your establishment!

In one word underwhelming, still. I’ve stayed here when it was mansion on judges hill and now hotel Ella. They are still lucky they are considered a 4-star. Overall not a bad experience but not a great one either. I’d recommend one of the other hotels in Austin unless you are doing something at UT. Two things are obvious (1) their corporate and marketing team is disconnected from the ground floor day to day realities and (2) obvious their corporate doesn’t care because of the planned $100m renovation coming, that will ruin what makes this special. Oh and note POOLSIDE rooms do not allow you to use the gate from your poolside patio to enter the pool, regardless what their marketing team will spew. Obvious it’s a security issue based on how the sliding doors where installed for the rooms. Bar was out of drinks and inventory, restaurant was super duper slow… John Taffer would have a field day here. This place has real potential.

We came in town for a memorial so we were already in a somber mood but what a beautiful stay and respite from the hard emotional things that we were going through. We thought it was beautiful breakfast at the hotel was delicious. They were awesome to give us waters as we left for the day and check out was easy as text. I highly recommend this place. The rooms were beautiful and who doesn’t like a charcoal nude on the wall.

Hotel Ella is both elevated and friendly. Feels like you’re staying at a friend’s mansion bc staff offers such personalized experience. They have a wraparound porch and second floor deck with cozy chairs, couches and tables. Breakfast is delicious and fresh (the most perfectly cooked scrambled eggs I’ve ever had). I didn’t eat there for lunch or dinner so can’t comment on those, but i had their deviled eggs and cheese baord and cocktails at happy hour and they were all superb. My room was immaculate and surprisingly spacious (aside from low ceilings which are part of the charm, since it’s an old building). Bed was comfy, good linens, plenty of towels etc in the bathroom. Shower water temp wasn’t that hot, and water flow a little weak, but otherwise it was good. I come to Austin regularly and this hotel was priced better than Marriott and way better experience. Will stay here from now on!

Hotel Ella has a special place in my heart, it allows me to walk down memory lane from a safe distance. I lived on that same block two separate times when I was a student at UT and I think being a grown up on that block is so much sweeter! I loved my room at Eden house, but the beds that hugged my partner, myself and our dogs to sleep, the bespoke furnishings and decor in the guest rooms at Ella let me know that, though I am no longer a young man, the grass is actually greener over here and it was all worth the stress and the struggle of finding my way.....my way back home, in a sense.

We came here for breakfast. It was 'meh' Very basic menu, nothing exciting. And the execution is mediocre. Left full bellied, but wouldn't return for a meal.

Typically my go to for when my in-laws come in town; however, they're now under new management and do not allow for any cancellations/refunds on room bookings, even over a month out. Will be booking different hotel for my guests in the future. Edit 11/23/22: I appreciate Mr. Wilson reaching out and making this right. My in-laws' money was refunded, as our plans for Christmas changed. They love staying at hotel Ella and will be back for another visit next year. Thank you again.

My stay here are always good, staff are super friendly, not to mention how beautiful the place is. The only reason I gave it 1 less star is because for the price, some things are lacking such has a coffee maker in the room, no water bottles are offered and this time the food in the restaurant wasn't as tasty as the last time I stayed here. Will I stay here again, yes the location is super convenient for my work meetings.

Talk about an accommodating hotel and great experience! I emailed the hotel before my stay and just said I’m sensitive to noise and read in reviews that the main building was less noisy than the north building and said if there’s any way I can get into the main building that’d be wonderful! Aaron promptly replied and said no problem, we will put you in the main building. When I arrived in my room I was very impressed, super nice decor and amenities, valet could not have been more nice and same with the front desk. After I was in my room for awhile I started to hear this loud buzz and called the front desk, they came up and checked it out, they agreed it was a strange noise and said no problem, we have a back up room while they figure out what’s causing this. I apologized profusely as at this point I felt bad asking for a new room. Grayson at the front desk assured me they move guests all the time and that it wasn’t a problem at all. He said noises drive him crazy as well and he totally understood. He moved me to a new room and it was just as beautiful as the first. He said that the reason they normally get complaints is because of weddings being hosted at the hotel but the north building is generally more quiet. I could not be more grateful to this team! After a long two weeks of travel, it’s nice to have an accommodating hotel. Will definitely stay here again and will be highly recommending this to friends when they come visit Austin!

I’ve wanted to stay here for quite some time. I’m delighted to report that it exceeded my high expectations. Our dogs stayed free and were welcomed. Drinks in the bar were delightful. Our time relaxing on the grand porch was wonderful. We’ll be back.

i absolutely loved staying at this historic mansion turned modern boutique hotel with my family when my daughters were kindergartners. We arrived a little before midnight but the property was well lit and easy to find. There was no line or wait at the valet or check in. The front desk stuff was friendly, helpful with our young children, got us checked in and into our rooms quickly. The interior of the hotel is beautifully designed, the food at the hotel restaurant was good, the room was spacious and very clean. Centrally located next to the University of Texas, within 1 mile of Austin Public Library and just a 15 minute car ride to the Thinkery.
