It is the national temple of Bangladesh. Devi Dhakeswari, The guardian deity of Dhaka, is worshipped here. The whole place is neat and clean. People from home and abroad visit this place daily. There are also arrengements of marriage ceremony, engagement and other functions etc. Dhakeshwari Temple remains closed in the afternoon from 02.00 pm to 04.00 pm. Do not go to visit the temple at that time.

This is a really harmonious environment; everyone should visit and remember humanity first. We were all born on the same planet, therefore no one is different but the problem is that each religious site has now lost its right.

It is the National Temple of Bangladesh. I love to visit there. Whenever I visit to Dhaka I try to make a visit here. This temple is enough spacious for all the rituals. This place is very famous to Banglali Hindus. It is one of a Shakti peeth of Sanatani Mythology. People can find the Durga temple while enter into the temple. The main temple is inward. There is enough place for worship and many religions occasions are held in the temple. There are four temples for lord Shiva besides the main temple. The area contains a medium sized pond which enhances the beauty of the temple. The worship is arranged in a regular basis in the morning and evening. There are many temporary small shops and carts for selling goods used in worship. This place is a peaceful place and I love to visit.

Temple: Hinduism One of the oldest and most popular temples in Dhaka. Dhakeshwari, meaning “The Hidden Goddess”, whose shrine is located in the western part of the city is credited by some for giving the city it's name. There are several myths on the origin of the name Dhaka. One is that the name came following the establishment of Dhakeshwari temple by Raja Ballal Sena in the 12th century and Dhakeswari is the name of Goddess Durga. While others say that Dhakeshwari stands the meaning of Goddess of Dhaka; so the temple must have been named after the region. The instructions at the temple premises say Aroti @ 7.00AM Temple Closed 2.00-4.00 PM & after 9.00 PM

(Translated by Google) This 800 year old temple was built by Raja Ballal Sen. This is basically Durga Mandir. Many people call it Kali Mandir which is absolutely wrong. From the beginning, Dhakeswari temple is a permanent temple of Durga idol. At first there was an octagonal idol here. The next time the ten-armed Durga idol was placed. Dhakeswari Temple is one of the few puja mandapas in Dhaka. This national temple is named after Ishwari of Dhaka, the protector goddess of Dhaka city. The construction of idols here is an attempt to make a difference every year. Dhakeswari temple contains the history and tradition of the mother and the mother is decorated anew every year by offering devotion to the mother. The Mahanagar Sarvajanin Puja Committee has been celebrating Durga Puja at Dhakeswari Mandir since 1986. Although modern in construction, there has been a temple on this spot for nine centuries. Visitors are welcome at any time (remove shoes on entering).

Dhakeshwari, meaning 'Goddess of Dhaka' is the primary Hindu temple in Bangladesh. In the year 1966 it began to be called Dhakeshwari Jatiya Mandir, the result of a campaign by Bangladeshi Hindu groups who had been demanding official recognition following the declaration of Islam as the state religion in 1988. It is state-owned, giving it the distinction of being Bangladesh's National Temple.

This is the National Temple of Bangladesh. The temple organizes several puja of Hindu religion. Durga Puja, Saraswati Puja, Weekly Shani & Satyanarayan Puja are few to name. Other than that Purohits arrange daily pujas along with Aarti in the evening. Other pujas are organized according to tithis but Shani & Satyanaran Puja are arranged during the evening aarti. So it's around 7pm during summer and 5:30pm during winter. Also you can request temple authority to arrange your private events like Marriage and Shradya(Funeral) on the temple premise with help of temple's Purohits.

    (Translated by Google) There are many stories about the history of Dhakeswari temple. It is believed that Ballal Sen, a king of the Sen dynasty, founded it in the 12th century. However, many historians believe that its architecture does not match the style of construction of that time. Some claim that lime-sand mixture was not used in the architecture of Bengal before the arrival of Muslims in the Indian subcontinent, during the reign of the Sen dynasty. But the Dhakeswari temple is built entirely of lime-sand masonry. Which is a feature of the architectural style of the Muslim period of Bengal. Various changes have been made in the structure and installation of this temple at different times. It is believed to be the original and first temple of Dhaka. Hindus believe that the name Dhaka originates from the word Dhakeswari. Dhakeswari Devi is the presiding deity of Dhaka. According to legend, King Adisur exiled one of his queens to a forest in Buriganga. The queen gave birth to a son Ballal Sen in the forest. Ballal Sen grew up in the forest. As a child, Ballal Sen got an idol of a goddess in the jungle (in other words, he got the idol in this jungle after the king came to power). Ballal Sen began to believe that this goddess Durga was protecting him from all dangers in the forest. Later, when Ballal Sen came to power, he established a temple at his birthplace where he found the idol of the goddess. The name of the goddess is 'Dhaka + Ishwari' or 'Dhakeswari' as the idol was found covered in the forest. The temple is also known as 'Dhakeswari Temple'. According to another legend, the queen, the wife of King Vijay Sen went to Langalband to take a bath. On her return she gave birth to a son, known as Ballal Sen. After ascending the throne, Ballal Sen built this temple to glorify his birthplace. Legend has it that Ballal Sen once dreamed of a forest-covered deity. Ballal Sen discovered the goddess there and built a temple, the idol was named Dhakeswari because it was covered. According to another proverb, the places where Goddess Sati fell apart in one and a half pieces became a place of worship. After Sati's body was dismembered, the call of her crown (part of the bright ornaments) fell on this place so it is a sub-seat. The name Dhakeswari originates from that call. [1] Jatindra Mohan Roy in his history book of Dhaka district says: The future is said in Brahmakhand, The Vedas of the old Ganges are a thousand years apart The fall of Jangirang is great. Tatra Devi Mahakali Dhakka Badyapriya Sadaah Gasyanti pattanam dikka sajnakong desabasinah. Mansingh, when he was the subedar of Bengal in three phases from 1594-1606, saw the dilapidated condition of the temple and arranged for its renovation. During this time he installed 4 Shivlings in the temple premises and also built four Shiva temples besides it. However, there is no specific evidence that Mansingh renovated the temple. FB Bradley Burt wrote in his 1907 Romance of an Eastern Capital: "The present temple is 200 years old and was built by a Hindu agent of the East India Company." [2] The original 800-year-old idol of Goddess Dhakeswari of this temple is in the temple of Sri Sri Dhakeswari Mata on Durgacharan Street in Kumartuli area of Kolkata. It was brought from Dhaka to Calcutta during the partition. Rajendrakishore Tiwari (Prahladkishore Tiwari) and Harihar Chakraborty secretly and swiftly brought the original idol of Dhaka to Calcutta in 1947 to protect the goddess from possible attacks and looting during the post-partition riots. The original idol of Dhakeswari was brought to Calcutta on a special plane. For the first two years after the idol was brought to Calcutta, the goddess was worshiped at Debendranath Chowdhury's house on Harchandra Mallick Street. Later, around 1950, businessman Debendranath Chowdhury built a temple for the goddess in the Dhaka area and donated some of the property to the goddess for her daily service. The height of the main goddess idol is about one and a half feet, the ten arms of the goddess, she is standing in the form of Katyani Mahisasurmardini Durga. Next to Lakshi, Saraswati and below Kartik and Ganesha. Pashuraja Singh is standing as a vehicle on which the goddess Mahishasura has been killed. Mansingh established this idol in Dhaka and employed a Tiwari family of Azamgarh. In 1947, the descendants of that family came to Calcutta and were re-employed, still serving the Goddess regularly. The idol in the Dhakeswari temple in Dhaka at present is the original idol (Original)

(Translated by Google) Dhakeswari Temple is the national temple of Bangladesh. Most of the Hindu religious worship takes place in this temple. So domestic and foreign tourists come from far and wide to see this temple. As far as I know, this temple is closed from 2 pm to 4 pm on Fridays. So it is good to see the time, many people take pictures, so it is better to take a camera, you can not enter the temple with shoes, there is a separate place to keep shoes, in return you can give some money as per your wish.
