I'll make a very objective review because I dislike rating any establishment under three stars. However, I feel the hotel staff and other aspects gave me no choice. Please note that my review is based on my experience and particular needs. It may not apply to everyone. But I wouldn't have booked if I read a similar review. I hope this could help some people when making their decision. Here goes: 1) LOCATION - I would give this a 1 star. If you're visiting Bari to experience the old town, this isn't where you want to stay. It's in a residential area with nothing going on. It's very far from the city center. Their website saying it's a "few steps away from Bari city centre" is false advertising. I just came back from the city center, and the place was busy. The weather was particularly nice today so there were plenty of people (locals and tourists) sitting outdoors and walking around the small parks. Immediately, I wished I booked at a hotel closer to the center where I can walk around and return to my hotel room on foot. I would have stayed longer outside. When I was heading out to the city center around 6:30 pm, I tried to check if there are buses that go to the center. I asked the front desk what the options for transportation are, and they just brushed me off and bluntly said, "taxi." Then they told me to go outside and look for one. I found a cab. The driver said there's a 15 euro flat rate from the hotel to the center. For travelers watching their budget, that's an easy 30 euros/day for a mere round trip to town. This means you can't keep going back and forth once you leave your hotel unless you want to keep paying 15 euros per trip. I think this is a bit too much extra daily expense on top of the premium I'm already paying to stay at a hotel that rates itself a 4-star hotel but has rundown facilities. Bottom Line: The location is not ideal if you want to enjoy early morning or late night walks in town or if you want to have the chance to go in and out of your hotel within the day. I really regret not choosing the Best Western located in town just because it's 3-star and Nicolaus is 4-star. I have two more nights left, and I'm not so happy about it. If you have a car or you're just here to use the spa, this wouldn't apply to you as much. 2) CUSTOMER SERVICE - 3 stars. I don't think they care much about the customers, or as some reviewers have already mentioned, they seem to be picky/discriminatory. I experienced a similar thing as one of the previous reviewers. They attended to other people more, even if I was ahead in line. When I ask a question, they look like they're being dragged into doing something very difficult. I am not sure what made them act that way, but I am an Asian female traveling solo from NYC. Which one of those adjectives made them think they can discriminate against my ability to pay or be treated with respect remains to be seen. Last week, I was staying at a 5-star luxury hotel in Rome (Baglioni Hotel Regina - a member of the Leading Hotels of the World), and their customer service was impeccable. As far as I know, I was still Asian and a female traveling solo at that time. Bottom Line: This hotel needs to review its culture of customer service and retrain its staff to treat every customer equally or at least with a minimum level of respect regardless of demographics. It's so tacky and tasteless for a wanna-be luxury hotel to allow discriminatory practices that seem to be a common complaint in reviews. 3) FREE AIRPORT SHUTTLE - be aware that this is not applicable all the time. There's a specific schedule (which they should post on their website). If your flight doesn't fall within the schedule or if there are more than six people, the "free airport shuttle" service they offer doesn't apply. Bottom Line: This was the main reason I booked this hotel instead of one closer to the city. Without the ability to use this service, there's really no other reason to choose this hotel.

Very good value for money: gym, swimming pool, sauna & steam room in a very chill atmosphere. Parking included as well so very convenient if you have a car - 10min from Bari central & 15min from Airport. The neighbourhood is not crazy but good restaurants around.

One night here in September prior to a flight. The front staff were very friendly, stored our luggage while we went out to explore Bari. A very clean, modern hotel and handy to the airport. The Bar and Restaurant are also very nice.

Amazing hotel! Everything was so new and clean! I chose it because it is very close to the airport but also to the old city of Bari. Friendly staff and fast service. Definitely try the indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi. Very well decorated and I was impressed with the variety of outdoor and indoor plants.

The hotel is very clean. The staff mostly speaks English. A pleasant surprise was the free transfer to the airport. Breakfast in the hotel was very tasty. The room equipment is old and sometimes smelly. The location is not the best, but you can get to the city center by direct bus.

My family and I went on holiday for a week. Unfortunatly we had a problem with booking.com but the staff was so helpful and understandig that they try their best to fix the problem. Special mention to the manager Daniele and the young lady with glasses that were there the day we arrived, both of them were very nice as all the staff in the hotel. Also a young lady name Daniela ( i think) helped me to find a nail salon to do my nails as I had to go to a wedding, she was really kind too. We had amazing breakfast basically everyday the room were clean everyday. The wellness area was really good as well, my mum had a massage and she felt really good after. Overall an excellent service and high standard from the first till the last day! Grazie mille Nicolaus Hotel for your amazing service, hope to come back one day :)

Bittersweet experience, It could have been 4/5 stars if It wasnt for a couple of staff members. On our last day our bathroom wasnt cleaned/serviced: when i flagged this up, no apology was offered from front desk, albeit, fresh towels were given.

Great hotel, service was fantastic. Close to Bari airport. Very clean and pretty, would definitely stay again. Morning buffet was amazing with so many options. Only a couple of critiques: 1. Pool / spa /hot tub doesn't open until 3:30 on weekdays and closes by 8:30 or earlier. Disappointed I wasn't able to go for an evening or morning swim. Didn't get to use it at all, which was one of the main reasons I booked it..was just there for one night, though. 2. Pillows are flat and hard. Maybe I was just unlucky.

Nice hotel, decor a little dated in our room but clean and tidy. Air conditioned room did get a bit hot in the night with no way to lower temperature. Breakfast was excellent with something for everyone. Fabulous pastries

Family-friendly spa with water-diaper-toddlers in the jacuzzi and kids everywhere. I heard there were "family hours" but they seem to extend this privilege to all hours. More a swimming-pool facility than a spa dedicated to relaxation.

Very, very kind reception staff. We had booked through a third party and they didn't have our kids on the reservation. Changed without fuss and didn't charge extra. Pool must be booked in advance and children only allowed in at certain times. We had a family suite, very high up and could here a party thumping above til 2am.

We had an excellent stay at the Nicolaus Hotel Bari. It all started with Anjelica and Deborah and their smiles ! They made sure that everything was going to be perfect during our time at the hotel. The location was great and their breakfast was outstanding. We highly recommend this property and we will definitely stay here on our next trip to Bari.

Lovely hotel, with modern and clean rooms and excellent facilities. On site parking and electric charging were a saviour for us and our rental car and we liked the hotel so much we came back as we wanted to see more of Bari in our week away. Location is on the outskirts of Bari, with a 10-15 euro taxi into the old town, but we struggled to find any accommodation in town of an equal standard and with parking.

Nice big room on the 9th floor. Very clean, huge king size bed, very comfortable. Mini bar, TV, a real hairdryer (not one of those dreadful things attached to the wall). Great breakfast variety and friendly service. Location is outside of the city but a taxi costs about 12-15 Euro.

Good hotel for business travel. Excellent breakfast and food. Very friendly, however not able to provide a breakfast 10 minutes early if you have to catch a flight.

I have only stayed one night but it was perfect for me. The wellness space is quite small (sauna, TurkishHammemet, swimming pool, Gym), so make sure to pick the time with less people (the reception staff may help). I also tried a relaxing massage for 30 mn and it was a gentle one(personally, I prefer more stronger) .I took a dinner and it was Yammy with a five stars service. The dinner price was very similar to the old town so it could be a good option for a calmer dinner with a perfect service. The shuttle should be booked one day before. Eventually,it is clear that the hotel is far from the old town. I was thinking to go by the ‘free bike’ but I got lazy.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and everything was excellent except the reception. They would ask me my name each time I asked for my room key yet they asked no other guests, they ignored me waiting patiently my turn to check out while they served others that arrived after me and to conclude when collecting my luggage they acted as though it was of little interest and didn’t seem customer orientated. Instead the staff in the breakfast room were exceptional! What a difference in attention to the customer in the same hotel.
