Many issues here. Even after seeing cleaning crew come through, hallways and common areas are filthy. Vending machines don't work. Games in bar area broken. One elevator broken, so if you are on upper floor, good luck waiting for elevator. Long queues to check in with very limited staff. If you need something from desk, like tokens for laundry, you will wait a while. On the up side, room was decent enough and lockers under beds are spacious enough to store your large backpack with some room. If you have a room facing front, be prepared for the party that happens nightly in the parking garage next door. The bar does have good music and decent prices.

The most important thing is that the beds are clean, which they were. Second most important thing is that the showers are clean and working, they weren't. Third most important thing is that the staff don't randomly walk in to your room just because they can, but they did. Fourth most important thing is that the place have a meeting spot were guests can and want to hang out at, this place didn't.

Where do I begin… My friend and I arrived late in the evening after a big day of traveling - cold and exhausted we just wanted to have a shower and go to bed. However, we were on the property for no longer than 20 minutes. The building itself looks like an abandoned hospital, with broken/missing lights and slim to none upkeep of the external appearance. Check in alone took more than 15 minutes, which was ridiculous considering I had already checked in online prior to arriving. We paid what was owed and given our keys, our experience only got worse from here… Smelly elevator. Scratches down the horror-film like corridors. We get to our 6-bed dorm to see one individual, who has either slept in every single bed, OR just proves the room had not been regularly cleaned - cigarettes, trash, dust and mold all over the room - just to name a few. Within 20 minutes of being there, my friend and I had never felt so uncomfortable and disgusted with a hostel (keep in mind I have stayed in 30+ shared dorm hostels in my life). We went back downstairs to reception to share our experience with our room, to which they showed no regard or apology and no attempt to reconcile the situation. We left immediately. Do not take this light heartedly, please do not stay here. We have stayed at multiple Generator hostels and this has by far been the worst. If I could give this hostel negative stars I would.

If you're solo travelling as a girl, I really recommend booking only girls rooms. This isn't your typical youth hostel where everyone meets up, but rather just a place to stay at night, inclduing older men. I've never seen so many old people in a youth hostel, but at least the staff was receptive and nice and let me change rooms.

it was a really lovely hostel ❤️ i got there at around 11 am (could normally only check in after 2pm) and they let me check in early for free! my bed wasn’t free yet by that time but they just gave me a bed in another room that was empty. normally stayed in an 8bed shared room and now i got to stay in a 6 bed shared room with a private bathroom! the place was also really clean and you needed your card to get in the hallway, the lift and the rooms. i felt very safe! also 24/7 reception that was really kind and helpful. totally recommend the place! also: i read the comments and i totally can not relate at all?? the hostel was completely silence at night (i’ve stayed 4 days) and was really clean!

First of all it is important to mention that the Generator stays are by far the cheapest options in Berlin! However there are some negative sides to it, which in my opinion, cannot be excused by the low costs. First of all the elevators were barely working. Thank god we were in the second floor - anybody who was in the fifth floor for example must have suffered more lol. I also read some reviews from people who had the same problem - so apparently that’s a common thing there. Second of all I must mention that the room (We had a couple room with a private bathroom) didn’t seem to be properly clean and the safety hinge of one of the windows was broken. And last but not least - also what leads to my rather negative rating: We booked a late checkout beforehand (+15€ for checking out by 1pm instead of 10am) but yet the cleaning staff opened our door without permission by 10:30. I was literally half naked and my boyfriend still asleep. It was a total awkward moment and in my eyes more than just a no go. Our keys (cards) stopped working by 11 so we had lots of trouble to get our stuff out of the room.. not going there again. However - the receptionist was very sorry about it and gave us the money for the late check out back! she was a total sweetheart I gotta say.

Nice rooms, with lockers (bring your own lock or buy from them). Great beds with personal electric and lighting for each bunk bed. But less stars because of the toilets. Maybe just my floor with people smoking in the wash room. Also they don't give towels, make sure you bring yours. I was used to traveling and staying in spots where towel is given.

Stayed in a private double bed room. Bathroom was good. Shower was a little too small. We needed a floor mat or towel which wasn’t initially provided to us because the water gets outside the shower curtain. There were fruit flies for the first two days in our room but we got rid of them by killing them and leaving the window open. Wi-Fi was good. The bartender from Virginia was nice and tried to form connections between other guests. The bar wings were very good. Check in process was easy. There is a rule that you can’t bring outside food into the building. Maybe to prevent attracting bugs. But this could lead to food waste when eating out. The breakfast was good considering that the location isn’t great in terms of being able to have a lot of food options at your disposal. But transportation options are good. A receptionist helped us with the locker room which was nice. The locker room card paying device didn’t work when tapping a card against it. Seems like it has to be inserted. We’ve stayed at another hostel where this same locker system worked seamlessly. There are a lot of teenage school groups that seem to make their way through leading to a lot of noise. Music is played in the dining area on the ground floor loudly all the time which isn’t great when you want a quiet area to escape to inside. A receptionist told me the first day that the bar would open at 4:30 when it was 4:20 but it didn’t open until 6. It opens at 6pm every day. There are signs saying the bar will open at 5 and some saying it opens at 6 which gives conflicting information. The bar pool table was broken. Or it needed to be paid for to play. The elevators were slow. The receptionists were nice. One gave us recommendations for outings. Cleaners were nice as well.

One of the worst hostels I’ve ever stayed at. Nothing works including locker card payment, elevator, air and outlets in a private room. There’s no kitchen access, fridge, bar or restaurant. Had to climb up 6 flights of stairs. It’s super hot as well. PLUS THEY OVERCHARGED ME 300€ for another stay that’s already canceled via Hostelworld 👎🏻 absolutely 0 stars if I could.

The staff is extremely rude and slow. When I got to my room after waiting for 30 min to check in (I just needed my key as I had checked in online) I was very disappointed in the room situation. The beds have sheets but they are not put on and it feels as if they don't clean in between because I found hair from someone else on my bed. The bathrooms were also very dirty (you share them with the whole floor). I also was annoyed that they don't provide a towel or any body wash. Honestly, it was the worst hostel I've ever stayed in and I would not recommend it whatsoever. The location is also not the best.

Huge hostel, not very personal, they try to keep it clean but can't catch up. There are lockers for which you have to pay, otherwise they don't store your belongings. Room was all right now that they have renovated them with plugs and a light eight by your bed.

DO NOT BOOK HERE!!!!! SCAM!!!!!!! I payed upfront for 2 nights. Upon arrival (late at night) I was told my reservation was canceled. Their website states that late night check in is possible, also it does not state a latest time for check in. I called multiple times to inform them and no one answered the phone. The man at the desk was super unfriendly and unhelpful. After discussing with him for half an hour he said I could get a bed in a dorm, I would have to pay again for a new reservation though (seriously?). In many years of traveling, I have never been so disappointed. I repeat one more time DO NOT BOOK HERE! GO FIND ANOTHER PLACE!!!

you will not find a towel in the room and this may be the reason why you will not be able to take a morning shower. if you have booked a room with a shared shower and toilet, this may mean that you have to make your way down a long hallway to the bathroom. if you don't have a lock with you, get ready to buy a lock at the reception. check out at 10 am. there are no additional sockets and hangers in the rooms.

The hostel is okay, but the mechanics with the doors to the rooms is so awful. People slam their doors and it’s SO LOUD. I actually thought someone was trying to break into my room because it sounded like someone was smashing into our door. It really downgrades the whole experience. I actually think it’s an easy fix by removing the self closing door latch, but as it is right now I would not recommend this hostel if you want a good nights sleep.

This was the worst hostel experience I've had and i am a full time traveler for years. First day, the window in the room was broken and we got frozen all night. Next day i asked them to fix, they said we don't know when the maintenance guy will come and fix. After some arguments for 30min, they agreed to change my room finally( they were saying we are so full we can't do anything) . Then they sent me to a room and it was occupied by someone else. I got back to reception and told them. They said oh people take other beds which they don't belong them, it happens we can't do anything. It was so frustrated. Then i wanted to leave the hostel but they said oh you can leave but it's non refundable. Other than all of these things, the whole hostel was full of 13 15 years old students or super ratchet people. They put a solo girl in a 7 guys mixed dormitory, all the people were so ratchet in the room and it was smelling so bad. Also the bathrooms are super far away from the room. Super old fixtures and furnitures. Don't stay here at all or not more than 1 night if you must stay!!!

We booked to stay a week.. we were extremely disappointed when we arrived to find out the bar wasn't open.. it wasn't stated anywhere that this was the case.. we stay at hostels to be social but there was no social life here very sad.. the staff however are very nice and accommodating. Beware the doors slam very loud of a night time and people are very rowdy till all hours of morning talking outside rooms etc... In future maybe tell customers the hostel isn't giving its full service.

I enjoyed my stay at this hostel. No complaints about the room, high standard for such a low price. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the bathroom could have been cleaner. I think it's the right choice for people who want to stay for 1-3 nights in Berlin. Perfect for people travelling alone.

There were stains on the floor of our room and our mattresses, the breakfast buffet felt like mostly heated up frozen foods. The service was terrible, when we tried using the arcade machines in the lobby, the game didn’t work but the employee wouldn’t give us our money back because “they didn’t have the keys”. Overall a bad experience.

Definitely one of the worst hostel I've been. The personal was not interested in giving any support. The toilet are similar to the wost public toilet you have been inside. The sinks are in steel and with a small tap, you can’t even put your hand below. The toilet is so small that once you close the door you have no space to lower your pants. The heater was making constantly noice, the curtains were disgusting and was not possible to close them. Trust me, go anywhere else.

Rooms are clean but uncomfortable. There is no place where you can get coffee or heat water. If you want to eat it's mandatory to by food from them, as there is no place where you can prepare your own, so you should ad that to a price.

For the price I expected a very basic accommodation but we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are big and clean, the location is well connected, and above all, the receptionist Ana was incredibly helpful and sweet. She recommended some really cool things to do in berlin. Thank you so much!!!

We went to the hostel with a group from a sports club in Amsterdam. The welcome from the reception (Sandra) was very nice and helpful. We also had breakfast and dinner for the whole weekend. The chef (Philippe) is very flexible and thinks along. The group was very satisfied with the food. They liked the grilled chicken with vegetables and sauce. and also the delicious cakes.

Maybe we visited at the wrong time but it was almost completely empty for 3 days straight, but they set us up in a room with someone else. It has a ghosty feel to it and the people that we saw in the hostel weren't the "travellers" type. For only sleeping it was okay I guess but it was not a pleasent visit..

DO NOT STAY HERE ! I went there last week for 5 days and all I have to say is that it was horrible! Our room was so bad that we got a new room(dead bugs and blood on the bed ). The worst thing was the showers they were dirty, full of hair and WITHOUT CURTAINS! The breakfast was really bad ..the bread was hard as a stone. For all that money. ...I can only say it again..Do not stay here

Noisy and expensive. Be prepared to pay an overly expensive rate and you must rent or but anything extra. They rent towels for 5€ which is ridiculous when you pay 80€ for two stays and there is nothing in the room apart your linen. No towel no soap no shampoo no shower gel. Party at the back yard kept me sleepless until late as it was a very warm day and my room had no a/c, and had to keep window open. Would not recommend.

We were here for a weekend and we were very dissatisfied. The rooms were okay if you only came there to sleep but the showers and toilets were atrociously dirty. Good enough for sleeping and sleeping only. The shared toilets were very dirty (always throughout the day). The condition of the moquette of the shared hallways were awful as well, and on top of that there was a black plastic bag near the door to our room. Only positive note is that there’s a metro station and a tram station nearby (within a couple of minutes by foot)

It was a typical hotel for jong people, there was a lounge where you can sit. The rooms itself was okay, like what you expect from a hotel like this. The beds were good the bathroom was little tho overall it was what you could expect

Staff was really nice, friendly and all spoke English. They let us put our bikes in the luggage room! The room was clean, water hot in the shower, super view of Berlin, beds comfortable and comfy linens. The location of the hostel is right next to the train station, a market and lots of restaurants. I would stay here again - especially for the price!

  • 4/5 Caroline D. 8 months ago on Google
This hostel is very bare bones and understaffed, but it was clean and easy. For the price, it was great. The location is directly on the train, which made it extremely easy to get around. We could see where they cut costs with stuff like charging for towels, but I prefer the low cost and didn’t mind! Clothes washing machines weren’t very accessible and be sure to have both card for hostel services and coins for vending machines and Berlin in general.

  • 2/5 javier m. 2 years ago on Google
Dirty room, the cleaning service entered the room and the only thing they did was to move a dry rag on the floor and change the plastic bag on the garbage can. The heaters made a water flow noise 24/7. My room mates admitted to not be vaccinated (even when it was supposed that for the check in was mandatory to be vaccinated). The people on the front desk was very nice but that doesn't change that the main thing of the hostel (the room) was an unpleasant, dirty mess. no recommended

  • 1/5 Alejandra V. 2 years ago on Google
The hostel was not clean and utilities were not working properly, with really noisy radiators, none of the food and drink machines functional, hairdryer not working, all hand sanitizer empty 😅 Bathrooms were below acceptable, not worth it in general.

  • 4/5 David H. 2 years ago on Google
It was quite good there :)

  • 3/5 Daniel R. 8 months ago on Google
The room itself was really small, but had commodities to just have a sleep there and continue on your travel - which is the purpose of the hotel I suppose. In the hotel rules they have a policy that doesn’t allow you to bring your own food to the room. I understand that the hotel itself provides food and drinks (for a higher price though), but it was the first accomondation I encountered to have such a policy. Overall a not awesome not horrible experience.

  • 2/5 Justyna L. 6 months ago on Google
Oh my God. Where do I start… First of all heating was not working in rooms, corridors and bathrooms. It was so cold (especially at night), that I came back home sick with a fewer. Cards that open doors to the room, bathroom and lift were constantly deactivating with no apparent reason, so me and my roommates had to make new cards every single day (few times a day) - imagine the struggle… On 7th floor in female bathroom there’s a huge spider on the window, which nobody from cleaning staff noticed. Maybe it’s a hostels pet? Greeting you in the shower? Who knows. Vibe of the whole facility is just dark, cold and gloomy. I’m giving 2 stars only because staff at the reception was super friendly and helpful. I hope you’ll find better job.

  • 5/5 Jonas S. 9 months ago on Google
We had a great time in the hostel. Even our late arrival in the middle of the night and losing one of the room-cards were no problem. Bathroom with shower and the room were very clean.

DO NOT STAY HERE. if you are a single woman, it isnt safe for you. It isnt in a good location, and the hostel is huge, dark, dirty and impersonal. The area is dodgy and run down, full of addicts, even in the day. There are many homeless men hanging around on the step of the hostel at all times because this is where they live. Even if you book a girls room, expect to get followed to tbr bathroom by shirtless old men on the way to their bathroom. Each corridor has 30-40 rooms, each with 8 beds. And there are 8 floors. All full of men in their 40s-50s. Expect to walk 5 minutes down a corridor with no windows to get to your bathroom. Hostel staff were not helpful at all when i asked if i was safe to walk in the area. They are disorganised and unattentive. The rooms are too small for 8 people, and it gets hot in there fast. There is no breakfast, no bar, and nowhere to eat or drink in the arwa except a burger king over the road and a supermarket downstairs. A final note: its not in prenzlauerberg - it it by landsberger allee station. Its in a dead area of Berlin, not worth staying in. Reading the other reviews about theft and security, i imagine itt is easy for guests staying long term to slip in and out of rooms when housekeeping are not paying attention and steal cash and valuables. Absolutely disgusting place. I wont evee stay in a generator hostel again, anywhere in the world.

Why 2 stars when I have rated it higher on individual aspects? Rooms, food, service all fine… but not at all suitable for a school visit. This is less a hotel or youth hostel and more a hostel - far too many lone travellers - men in their 20s and 30s and this was not at all what we were expecting with out group of school-age children. There were security on site at all times - not sure what to make of that - but they spoke neither English nor German.

When I first arrived to the hostel. I didn't understand why it had such a low rating. It seemed good. At my first day, both elevators didn't work for half a day (I was living in 7th floor) (how did both stopped?). The other days only one elevator worked for 7 floors and hundreds of people. Also it's super slow. The rooms were small but that's not a big issue. I had already told them that at my checkout I want to leave my luggage there for 2 hours and they said there is a free luggage room. When the checkout came, I told them to use the luggage room and they said they don't have permission to open it?! And I should use locker rooms and pay. I didn't want to spend a single more € in this place so I left. Furthermore the location is not ideal for tourists, especially people with bikes.

I regret choosing this hotel for our 3 night stay. The room was very small. The website had a misleading offer for a free drink each day in lieu of daily cleaning service which was not really honoured by the staff..

Pricing was a little bit high but I did book last min and a private room for 4 with a bathroom. The common area was under construction so nothing much to look at or do basically just a sitting area. The room was clean neat bathrooms was super tight but private. Beds were too hard for me and companions but for a short stay it’ll do. Aside from that great location. Parking is first come first served otherwise pay next door market, train and restaurants less than 5 min walk.

Rooms were clean enough but the vibe is so off! Was a whole school of teenagers from Dusseldorf staying in the hostel at the same time as me and spreading their awkward teenage energy. Surely that's something you have to disclose to other patrons before they book the hostel? Bar is cringe vibes. Staff are useless and confused like deer in headlights. Location is not central and weird as well. Avoid !

This place might be the worst hostel I have ever been in. Where to start? Staff is unmotivated and slow, you might say they are robots, but that would convey a wrong sense of efficiency. Even checking in takes way too long, which is probably why this place wouldnt survive without the 24hr reception. The rooms themselves are horrid, and mind you we had a more expensive couples room. The most basic standard, cleanliness, is not met. Dusty, filthy and smelly. The toiletts and showers might as well have been ripped straight out of a train, and we are not talking ICE here, we are talking regional transport. At night partying youths make it almost impossible to sleep. The location is depressing, unless concrete and the sweet sounds of trains are your imagined happy space. Just stay as far away as possible from this place.

Wow what an experience there is so much to say about this amazing and welcoming hostel. On arrival we were greeted with open arms and they offered to take our luggage to our rooms. The rooms were luxurious and so spacious the beds were so soft and comfortable. This gave me an excellent night sleep; when i woke up from my deep slumber i went to breakfast and was absolutely flabbergasted at what i saw. Honestly it was some of the best breakfast i had ever had. The bread and nutella were absolutely scrumdidilyumptious and the milk was very very milky. For lunch I was surprised at how amazing the food was, genuinely the chicken and sweet potatoes were the best food my mouth has ever had the pleasure of tasting. I would 100% recommend this hostel to anyone after my most pleasurable experience. 12/10

The stars are for the staff, I didn’t catch her name but she did everything she could to accommodate us. **check in online** -our rooms weren’t ready until 3:30pm(no biggie) -rm1 was dirty, from stains that looked like blood or coffee. Hair on sheets, trash, other people stuff and sheets under the bed. I read previous reviews so I was prepared for this. -rm2 had some hairs on the bed, we swatted them away but the floor was dirty, room was dusty and there were no curtains,(the sun was hitting directly thru. We were offered eye masks and someone cleaned the floor. Thought we could manage that, BUT the bathrooms on that floor were scary. The woman’s showers 3/10 had shower curtains but those were moldy black both floor and curtain & toilet paper everywhere. The men’s room REEKED of urine and shower curtains were moldy and ripped. -rm3 was better and the bathrooms on that floor were much much better, hair blower doesn’t work. There was a party at their bar charging 10€ even If you were staying there. The music could be heard from our room (5th FL) They are “renovating” but what they should have is more cleaning staff. There were mountains of dirty sheets in all the hallways im each floor. Rooms aren’t sound proof. There were rooms with loud music and just ppl having fun in groups, so if that bothers you keep that in mind. We had a private room (and heard doors, people talking next door, in the hallways and even outside) with shared bathroom, maybe private room w bathroom won’t be as bad. The hotel has a lot of potential and is massive. Toiletries, towels and everything else is charged, so be prepared. My biggest recommendation is to bring sandals to shower, disinfectant wipes for toilets & patience. Paid 10€ for late check out (reg is at 10am, late is 1pm) BUT got locked out of the room at 10, so again had to go to front desk to get that fixed. The staff is willing to help, since they’re aware of their situation. But I want to thank that girl that helped us, she even escorted us to the last room and bathrooms to make sure we were okay. You were the best!

The Location is okay for a party-weekend with no other needs than having a place to sleep some hours. Any kind of comfort is not available, so if you need a place to rest or spend quality time indoor: book another hostel! If you go with your girlfriend: book another hostel! The room is small and loud. The beds are noisy, bathroom and toilets totally dirty and stinky. If you don’t care at all, go for it. Best regards!

Good hostel, all generator hostels are similar. Room was clean, roommates friendly. It was noisy but of course it was large dorm room, 12 or 16 people I think. Also there were not enough elevators, it's much faster to take the stairs. But price was extremely fair. I was very happy with my stay.

We came for a fun hostel experience but were greeted with large groups of kids on school trips who thought they owned the place, running, shouting, and slamming doors until 2am. Looking at past reviews this looks to be a normal thing. Staff didn’t seem to care about them and let them do what they want. Toilets were clean but why are the stalls so small?? Like knees almost touching the door. It’s uncomfortable. Also there’s about 6 stalls in the shared bathroom but 4 of them were always locked with no one in them? Im assuming they were broken Reception staff were really friendly. I’m not sure what’s going on, seems like they may be understaffed or under bad management. Overall just not the most comfortable place

This place is the worst. Overcrowded, noisy with all the big school groups. 8 beds in one room, rubber mattresses, I had no sheets. Towels must pay 5 Euros and to lock locker must buy a mini lock for 5 Euros again. Simple buns and corn flakes breakfast no eggs 7 Euros. They more than double prices on weekends, making it the most expensive hostels I ever been. Toilets are messy.

Bare basics hostel. The staff at reception are friendly but the whole place feels sterile and soulless, the bare minimum for everything. You have to make your own bed, there's very little showers per level, no soap. Beds are clean & comfortable with their own electricity sockets. It's ok just to sleep & go as the station & tram are close but its a purely functional hostel.

I wish I could give 0 star. Even for the price it’s awful. Prison like no soundproof AT ALL. I had the twin room for more intimacy definitely waste of money. the beds are so loud, you hear everything, dust everywhere, curtain that don’t cover the whole window, shower leeks, bad smell and overall just not pleasant at all. For a night or two it’s ok but save your money and go to an other dormitory near alexanderplatz for the same price but higher cleaness and better emplacement.

Offers hostel accommodations at a reasonable price. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The shared washrooms are satisfactory, but could be cleaner. Service was friendly and tech-savvy. Location is great, with good public transit connections.

I stayed here for 3 nights and with 3 people in a 4 person room. The room wasn't great but it was better than what other reviews have said about the place. Throughout the stay here there was a weird smell although the beds were comfortable. The hotel is close to the center of Berlin and has many activities nearby.

It is with great disappointment that I must share my recent experience at a hotel where I have been a guest for several months. Today, I was asked to either remove the Kurdistan flag that has been hanging in my room or to leave the hotel by the Arab private security guards. This act of discrimination and disrespect towards the Kurdish people and their culture is unacceptable. Despite being asked to leave, I stand firm in my belief and support for an independent Kurdistan. I will not be silenced or intimidated by such actions and will continue to proudly display the flag of Kurdistan wherever I go. Long live independent KURDISTAN ☀️

👍 The queue can get really long in a very short amount of time. We were lucky and waited for about 5 minutes before placing our order. The place was fully packed both inside and outside after we picked up our food. We got the original döner but I was unsure about the sauce they used. The sandwich was...

👍👍 Best kebab ever that I had! I was not and am still not a fan of kebab but I absolutely love Rüyam kebab. They have good service. If you go with a baby stroller, they will come to the window and ask for the order so that you don’t need to carry the stroller inside the shop. They are very friendly an...
