This place was a surprise. Red Pearl at Homewood is my default go to Chinese restaurant forever. But decided to try out Great Wall Chinese Restaurant; I have been hearing good reviews on authentic food for sometime now. It didn’t disappoint. We tried Garlic chicken, juicy dumplings and chef’s special flaming pan chicken with vegetables. They all were super good, taste was authentic and portion was generous. Price wise, I felt was it was tad bit pricer compared to other Chinese restaurant around it. On the positive side, they offer good authentic food, plenty of seating arrangements, minimal wait time and quick service, ample parking spots, centrally located, open late till 10 pm. Will definitely visit again for some dan dan noodle.

Lovely place!!! One of the most well decorated Chinese restaurants I've ever been to. The menu has two separate sections for american Chinese & Chinese Chinese which was a nice touch.Gonna come back and try other menu items

Title: Great Wall Chinese Restaurant: Unassuming Facade, Timeless Authenticity Embodied Situated unassumingly along Valley Avenue in Homewood, Alabama, Great Wall Chinese Restaurant presents an inconspicuous exterior, concealing within its walls a realm of exquisite culinary craftsmanship and unwavering authenticity. Upon crossing the threshold, guests are instantly transported to an era reminiscent of classic Chinese dining, wherein vintage decor beckons with an alluring air of elegance and sophistication, sans any ostentation. Great Wall captivates the senses of those seeking an unforgettable gastronomic encounter, where traditional Chinese culinary artistry seamlessly intertwines with contemporary flair. During my visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in the Spicy Pork Chengdu Style, a delectable dish that showcased the culinary prowess of Great Wall. The tender, succulent pork, bathed in a rich and aromatic spicy sauce, was a harmonious blend of flavors that delighted the palate. Accompanied by a side of fragrant fried rice, each bite transported me to the vibrant streets of Chengdu, evoking a true sense of authenticity. To complement my meal, I also enjoyed an order of delicate and flavorful Steamed Shrimp Dumplings. Each dumpling was a work of art, with a thin, translucent wrapper enveloping a juicy shrimp filling that burst with freshness. The careful steaming process preserved the delicate flavors, allowing me to savor each bite with pure delight. Beyond the dishes I savored, Great Wall Chinese Restaurant embodies a commitment to preserving authentic cooking techniques. Every meticulously crafted dish is a testament to their unwavering dedication. Prepare to embark on a gustatory odyssey where time-honored recipes are artfully reimagined, boasting a symphony of harmoniously balanced flavors and tantalizing textures. I found myself driving past this place a lot and wondering about how good the food was. Tonight, we decided to put an end to that wondering and give it a try. For an appetizer we ordered the steamed dumplings and for entrées, I ordered the chicken pad thai and my sister ordered the beef lo mein. We opted for take out so we could eat at home. The food was ready so fast. We waited for thirty minutes at most, and it was ready. The staff was friendly, had everything all packaged up and cashed us out. Everything tasted delicious and was still very hot and fresh when we arrived back home. I'm glad we had the dumplings to eat while we waited for our entrées to cool of. The portions were giant, and now I have the perfect lunch for tomorrow as well. 10 out of 10 all around, and I will definitely be a regular patron here.

Visited on a weekday.. The place isn't crowded and the ambiance is really nice.. If you're looking for an authentic chinese restaurant, this is the place to go. We ordered their lunch special sweet and sour shrimp and chicken with rice, chicken flaming pan with rice, steamed shrimp dumplings (1 order is 6pcs.) and combo fried rice. Bill ended with $52.18 plus tip.. I was actually looking for siomai and sesame balls, but isn't available here.. but will keep on looking for a chinese restaurant that has it. Recommended for a visit.

Enjoyed my meal here, and had awesome staff check on me through my meal. I wanted a hot soup with noodles, and that's what I got. Pretty great place to try something new too! They have reasonable prices too!

Delicious food all the way in, down, and out. Loved the lunch. Little bit of an English communication problem but the food is worth it, totally. Atmosphere is like every other American Chinese Restaurant. Yes, they can work on presentation, but it was SUPER YUMMY!!!

Fast friendly service and the food is always very fresh and hot! We had the chicken egg foo young and cashew chicken. The chicken is tender and veggies are crispy (not overcooked). We love this place!

Best Chinese place in Birmingham, super friendly staff and literally everything is exceptional. The dumplings are some of the freshest I’ve ever had and the spicy chicken in vegetables is my favorite dish so far

Great Wall used to be one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in town. It stood out from the rest. These days it tastes just like many restaurants around. The chicken is now poor quality like the others. That kind of chicken is not worth the price increase. I was so disappointed😕. The staff is still friendly but I have to find somewhere else.

They shorted me a penny. I didn't catch it until I got home. But if you think about it that adds up over time. & they're wrong for stealing people's money. Food is yummy & service is good. But it doesn't matter how much or little it is, it's mine. & they stole it. It makes me feel unappreciated & disrespected. I take my earned money & support they're business that supports they're families. & they do this. I've honestly wondered if I'll go back. IF I do. I'll pay with a card

This place is absolutely beautiful. The sesame chicken is so fluffy. I also have the Mongolian beef which had a little more onions than beef, the ratio wasn't great. The taste was excellent. I definitely will be coming back

My wife and I ate here leaving Birmingham and this place restored my faith in the AL Culinary Scene. The food was phenomenal and the service was great. We will be eating here every time we come to Birmingham. The braised pork belly practically melted in my mouth.

Im from New Orleans so flavor is important. I have dined in many Chinese restaurant in various cities but i was not impressed by the taste of the food. Service was fabulous and decor very beautiful but the food didn't have the taste i expected for the overall experience. I didn't like sauce at all. Prices were great!

Very nice staff. I have never had hot and sour soup with shrimp in it and their dumplings and sauce were perfect. Highly recommend the soup.

Very friendly staff. Foods are delicious. They bring out our orders at reasonable waiting time. Will come back and will recommend to others. Chicken and Eggplants in basil sauce is the best among all dishes we try this time.

Wow we had a birthday get together for one of the dads in our neighborhood - 5 different families, lots and lots of food, and everything I tasted was incredible! Everyone working there was extremely friendly to our kids and the service was great.

Best Chinese food in Birmingham. They specialize in Szechuan cuisine, and there are plenty of hidden gems on the menu. Service is fast and friendly. The prices on their website aren't inflated compared to the paper menu. Overall fantastic.

👍👍 This was my first time at Hattie B’s and I can’t believe I waited this long. It was absolutely the best chicken I have ever had! The Pimento Mac and Cheese was fire! The Bacon Cheddar grits were good but nothing too special. The Potato Salad was to die for!!! I made sure to save room for dessert and...
