Everything you would want from a classic pub from the exterior to the interior. Definitely has a feel of having some history to it and well worth the visit. Very nice selection of local and craft draft beers and a good mix of cocktails. Service was excellent and friendly.

I was in town for a wedding and decided to check this place out. A lot of history I did not know of prior to my visit. I walked in just expecting to get a beer. However this place has a rich history. I had their Green Dragon beer and the fish n chips. Prior to my food coming out I had a cup of clam chowder. Overall, delicious AF! It wasn’t crowded and service was on point. I recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area. People come to Boston to visit some historical sites, I come for the bars. This one had history and it’s definitely worth it.

Pretty nice atmosphere for one of Boston's oldest bar, opened in the mid to late 1600s. Very nice place to hang out at for drinks. I ordered a Green Dragon Brew which should be their signature beer which I really liked. I also liked their Red Coat Wings (Buffalo Wings), the name just fits!! We also ordered the Patriots Burger and Fish and Chips. While I liked the burger, the fish and chips tasted kind of bland for me.

Historic place to grab a pint. Pretty good selection of beers on tap with friendly bartenders that provided great service. Fairly quiet on a week night making it easy to have a conversation with your party hanging around the bar.

I was in Boston and I made it a point to have a whisky 🥃 at the same tavern as or great founding fathers started to speak of revolution! I was not let down!!! The chicken wings were absolutely perfect. I cannot stress that enough I made it a point to tip he cook! The wings were amazing!!!!!!! Perfect golden brown! I’ve been here before and I’ll be here again! Long live america

Came here for dinner. We had read about Green Dragon's amazing history about 6 months ago, so we were excited that we finally made it! I love the interior, it definitely is an authentic Irish Pub and has some cool old school touches to it. What surprised us was that the food was actually good! I ordered the old school Bangers and Mash. The sausages were delicious and so was the gravy that came with it and the potatoes. Dad's Shepherds Pie was really good too! The best part about being here was imagining what it would've been like being here in 1657. I can't believe it's been around for that long.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice place outside to sit, have a bite, and a drink in late May 2021. We were so happy we wandered down the most picturesque, classic street in Boston and found this tavern! The food was EXCELLENT and the portions were huge! We got the BBQ wings and the chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was HUGE and fried to perfection. The drinks were good too (beer on draft and white sangria)! Inside the tavern was very nice and had great ambiance. The wait staff was also nice and everything came out in good time too. Will come back!

We couldn't eat at the restaurant because they asked for our ID to buy beer, so we show ours chilean ID but they told us they only accept american ID. Very dissapointing that this kind of things still happens in the XXI century.

Ok, I’m not Irish so I can’t speak with authority on this, but WOW! Their Sheppard’s Pie was seriously good eats! Really flavorful. Kid friendly options that were better and tastier then most other restaurants in the area. Highly recommend a visit … for the history and definitely for the food 😉

The history AND the food are off the charts! I had wanted to visit for the history alone, but the Dragon won me over! I try the clam chowder everywhere I go. The Dragon's is near the top of the list. It's somewhat sweet with juicy chunks of clams. Nice consistency, too. My main was the shepherd's pie. The gravy had a good meaty taste that pulled the dish together. The potatoes, meat, and vegetables were all excellently cooked. I finished with the Boston cream pie. Coated in chocolate and drizzled with chocolate sauce... awesome! I can't wait to go back!

A really cool Irish pub with an extensive history. We only got drinks and sat at the bar. Got served right away, our bartender was attentive and friendly. They also have a bunch of tables with wait staff if you prefer to dine. The bar wasn't very loud either, we are able to converse without screaming.

Great place to grab a drink along the Freedom Tour. The Green Dragon Tavern is rich in history, named after the bar that played an important part of American history and Paul Revere’s famous ride. They offer a menu of pub fare and have a great selection of cocktails and beer. Enjoy a pint and learn some Boston history.

This restaurant/bar is wonderful. It's owned by a father and daughter duo, who are always friendly and extremely accommodating. I tend to have some friends that can be difficult to deal with, but the owners always make sure that we are enjoying our experience and time there. The staff and other patrons always seem to be friendly and laughing and having a good time as well. It's a great alternative to the other Southie spots. Do yourself a favor and give it a try!

We stopped in for lunch on a weekday. It is a cozy place, but was not crowded during our visit. Most patrons appeared to have wandered over from nearby Faneuil Hall. The food was good, but not exceptional. We had a burger and the shepherd's pie. Both were not bad choices. The tap list is also good, but not exceptional. Many of the beers were from New England and they have a "Green Dragon Ale," that Boston Beer Co, apparently brews exclusively for them. One question: How can something that claims to be an Irish Pub have Guinness but not Harp?

Unique eatery with an authentic New England atmosphere. Equally unseasoned were the hamburgers and the onion rings. The server is what made this a terrific lunch spot. No complimentary refills on soft drinks. This restaurant is one of the handful that is ADA-accessible. They have a ramp for wheelchair access to the restaurant.

I've wanted to stop in here ever since I saw the exterior of this place walking the Freedom Trail one day. I saw a picture posted somewhere of their bangers and mash, and it had to happen sooner rather than later. The place has an amazing history, is quite cozy, and the Boston Bangers and Mash were excellent. I also really enjoyed the Green Dragon Tavern ale. I plan to stop back whenever I'm in the area.

Apparently this place is one of the 10 Oldest Bars in the world! Founded in 1657. It is truly a must see while visiting Boston. Great pour of Guinness and friendly staff. Must try are the super nachos with buffalo chicken, shepherds pie and patriot’s burger.

The food made us all stay in the bathroom for the evening. Service was slow at the start to say the least.. The appitizer took quite a while for loaded tota but once it came it was quite good. The kids burger was a good portion and the cheese was great. The shepherd's pie was pretty good. The Guinness stew left much to be desired. The carrots were huge. I had to try and cut them with a soup spoon while eating. For scale one carrot was cut into about 4 still large pieces. There was a potato in it. One potato. It was almost a whole potato. That was interesting to have to cut. The sandwich came out missing kraut even though our server was the one who brought it. And the side was rang in wrong so we ended up with bagged frozen onion rings. After it all we were full and it was okay. But 3 of the 4 of us were dealing with upset stomachs the rest of the night.

Good in-house beer, like the fact that decor has bits of history included in it. Good live music...a large group sort of took over most of the place while we visited so couldn't spend much time. Worth a visit while in this historic neighborhood...

I stopped in here on a Saturday evening for dinner after walking around the aquarium. It was a great Irish pub design inside with TV's for sports. The food was reasonably priced and so were drinks. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. I'd recommend a stop in!

The drinks were delicious, and the atmosphere was splendid! I highly recommend the Buttered Hot Chocolate cocktail, though I barely tasted the alcohol, so tread with caution! 😉 We ordered a Bavarian pretzel to snack on while we were there, and it was delicious! My aforementioned drink and the Washington Apple Pie drink were absolutely lovely, and my boyfriend enjoyed his selections: the Green Dragon Ale, a Cherry Collins, and a perfectly poured pint of Guinness. Definitely visit this establishment while you’re in Boston, not just for the history, but for the wonderful faire, too!

This place is amazing! Chris the bartender (manager most likely due to how well he runs the place) is incredible and knows what he's doing. Super accomodating (I have Celiac and he was very willing to talk to me about my drink options as I couldnt have the standard shot and a beer) (although to my fellow Celiacs I have not explored the food menu TBF). Very COVID safety compliant as well. I felt perfectly safe allergy and pandemic-wise. I will absolutely be coming back here!

The food and drinks were good but the service was slow. Our server didn’t write our orders down and she would forget what we ordered and kept coming back to ask what we ordered. Also my husband and I ordered two salads and it took over a hour to receive. It was not 12 minutes, we understand there was a comedy that we enjoyed. We ordered our food at 7:30 and it arrived at 8:34.

I booked the reservation from seated. The idea was to get 20% back, which seemed like a win-win so that we could try the place out and get a deal at the same time. When we got there, they explained the credit card machine wasn't working.. fine no big deal, but then they said that the could take a card, which was very confusing. At that point it was too late and we paid cash. The problem was that because the receipt was hand printed (not sure why), seated would not take it. It makes me think that was on purpose, but I have no proof for that. The food was okay. Swordfish was well cooked but lacked flavor. The menu could use some love in general. It's sad because the location is great and the ambiance is really cool. Just needs a better menu.

One of my favorite taverns to visit each time I’m in Boston. Lots of history on the walls, excellent location for people watching and old timey revolutionary façade. Bonus points for amazing French fries. The Green Dragon Tavern Ale is a great go-to beer.

I really am not a person who leaves bad reviews… but this place was cool for the history, but horrible service. We were not welcomed in, not given a menu, not acknowledged by the waiter, and not served the food we ordered after walking up to the bar. If I were telling a friend what to do in Boston, I’d say snap a picture in front of this place then move on.

Really cool little pub. It has the ambiance in spades. Food is pretty good in general, but the cheddar fries with Irish curry are rediculous! Usual suspects on tap - Guinness, Harp, Strongbow cider. My wife said her drinks were very good. What really makes this place special though is the history.... continuously in business since 1654? Mind bogglingly old, at least for America. What's even better is sitting there drinking a beer and realizing that you could be sitting exactly where the Sons of Liberty sat, plotting against the British Empire, and planning the Boston Tea Party! Gives me chills...

RACIST ESTABLISHMENT: I had a terrible experience with my boyfriend and his parents on St. Patrick’s Day. A waiter told my boyfriend’s father to move. He didn’t hear him, so he yelled “GET OUT OF MY WAY” into his ear. I explained to him that he didn’t speak English and the waiter told me, “That doesn’t matter. He needs to get out of the way.” I found someone who looked like they were in charge (older man with crooked teeth) and told them what happened and he said to me, “We’re crazy busy today. Things like this are going to happen.” Very upsetting that being busy is a valid excuse for racism and disrespect. I’m sensing a pattern with this establishment, as I just noticed another review where they denied two Chilean patrons when they presented their passports. I took the attached picture because the irony was too jarring. This experience furthered the notion that the rumors are true, Boston (and this establishment) are LIGHT YEARS behind racial equality in the United States.

Nice little quiet bar. We went around 4:30 and got 2 seats right at the bar. The bartender was great and offered some decent selections. We ended up going with the (two if by tequila) great drink. A little strong but still good. Only stayed for drinks. But they have a great whiskey selection and the menu looked great.

A couple of important things first- when we visited, it was open searing - just grab a table. And 2, the front half of the space is quite warm, the back half, while not cool, felt better. Menu is what one would expect at an Irish Pub - fish, bangers and mash, sheppards pie, and local faves like Clam Chowder. Food was good; service kinda slow, even though we were taking our time to visit. It's historical, but...

Ask for a fried breast chicken sandwich and receive this. 2 nuggets or tenders in a bun. Ask to waitress about it and she told me "thats the way we do here". Wings was a better option. Price not bad but chicken sandwich NO WAY.

Vintage bar with historic significance. Stopped on our way while exploring the freedom trail to get drinks. Place where all the plotting began for Boston tea party. Located in a great neighborhood and the ambiance is great inside.

We went for dinner. I had a chicken Caesar wrap and fries. It was good. A member of our party had the shepherd's pie which they enjoyed. We had a pretzel appetizer which was very good. We also had a drink with dinner. I tried Paul Revere's Ride for something different, but it just wasn't for me. One person in our party had the revolutionary margarita. A peachy flavor was mentioned, but they enjoyed it.

Excellent pub in downtown Boston. The night we went there was live music and it was amazing. The group had great chemistry. The ambient was great. I didn't try any food but the drinks were good and strong.
