We had a reservation and arrived early. They were able to seat us immediately. The waiter was a true professional. He was polite, attentive and answered all our questions. We had several courses and they timed them all perfectly. The food was great authentic Italian. Our experience met all our expectations!

Awesome food! We ordered two appetizers and six dinners and two bottles of house Chianti wine. We had acceptable service. Our experience was dampened when our server returned our signed receipt and told us to tip more. From near 17%, we were pressured to increase it to 19%. Recommend the food, but not the server.

Kind of dead when we first got there around 4 pm. Service was good. Had a Whiskey sour , an Expreso Martiny (A+) and red sangria. The food was great, Ravioli. The place place did get a little more crowded as we got closer to 5 pm. Highly recommend this place on the north end. Delicious 😋

Visiting from NY. From an off the boat Italian family and the food here was authentic Italian. Everything was delicious including the drinks. The hostess was a sweetheart and our server was 10/10. If we stayed in Boston for more than two days we would have eaten here again, will definitely be back next time!

Went to the north end with a few work colleagues. One colleague heard about cantina so we went. There was 6 of us. We got seated right away. The food was so good. I had the lobster pasta. Just the right amount of spice and a perfect portion. The service was excellent. I would definitely go back

This place was absolutely amazing. Our waiter/server wasn’t wearing a mask unfortunately, which is the only reason I’m not giving 5 stars. Despite the mask, our server was great in every other way and the food and drinks were incredible. Everyone was very friendly. Most staff were wearing mask. It wasn’t super fancy inside but comfortable and nice. Would definitely go here again.

5/28/2023 My food was awesome, really enjoyed bombolotti pasta. The bar tender was nice and took good care of us mostly but he was basically taking care of the entire restaurant's drinks so would get a bit backed up, but everything was so good that it doesn't phase my happiness with the meal.

Oh my goodness! My husband and I came up from DC to visit family in Boston this weekend. My brother-in-law from NY made the trip with us. We had a mission to find the best Italian food in the north end. We succeeded. Cantina Italiana was, quite literally, the best I’ve ever had. And I have to give the goddess who makes this place run so beautifully SO MUCH love. Maria Delvecchio is an absolute queen. She made our visit so incredibly special. We love you, Maria. We’ll see again you soon, Cantina Italiana!

Reservations strongly recommended for this place especially on the weekend. Besides the long wait, food was good and the outside seating was very entertaining 😆

Nice place! Every employee we encountered was pleasant and professional. Our server, Silvi, was attentive and personable. The bathroom was very clean. The food presentation was lovely. We had sausage ravioli which I thoroughly enjoyed and calamari that was beautifully cooked but lacked seasoning. I would certainly recommend this restaurant!

Excellent all-around! We both ordered from the specials menu, "Frutti di Mare." My wife's dish was dairy-free, mine had no shrimp (my choice). Both were fantastic! The tiramasu was delicious. My wife says the lemon sorbet is very good, and the presentation in a frozen lemon was a an unusual surprise.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of the oldest Italian Restaurants in North End (Little Italy) , Boston, MA. Staff Manager (Omar) was so nice and welcoming. Elegant ambience, nice music and amazing food. I ordered Lobster Ravioli. Highly recommended to visit this place if you are in Boston.

Wanted authentic Italian, so we went to the North End Little Italy. We happened by Catalina Italian, and what a delight. Fresh homemade pasta and bread. Great Sangria. Vegetarian options are available as well.

Great service and good food. Pasta and the ravioli sauces were really good. The sole was not the best dish there. Definitely a must try place.

A pleasant dining experience. The staff is professional and courteous. The food was good, but didn't necessarily get blown away. Went on a Sunday night, so all restaurants in the neighborhood were very busy. One issue comes to mind, I had to request fresh black pepper a few times before I was given some. They gave me powdered black pepper initially twice. Seemed a tad but strange since it's not a unique request. Portion sizes were just right for me. Fresh bread was served at the start. Food arrived very quickly upon ordering.

A great place to go with family or friends!! A great atmosphere with plenty of room. Doesn’t feel crowded like some places. The staff was on point considering we had a larger party they were making their rounds pretty regularly refilling drinks and asking questions. The food was great plated with perfection full of bold classic Italian flavor. I recommend this place for a night out with the wifey or a get together with friends!!! Vs approved 2 thumbs up

I can not say enough good things! We came at the wrong time for the reservation we had made, and they accommodated us! The service was spectacular and the food was even better! If we ever go back to Boston, I will return for sure!

SO disappointed. Set up reservations SIX MONTHS in advance, because my friend has been obsessed with this place for nearly 40 years and we finally had the opportunity to go. Very, very let down. While at the host stand, we were DYING to have one of the tables at the windows, as there were two. The best view and we were willing to wait for it. When we checked in, right on time, they were both occupied. Totally fine, we had to wait regardless. However, the 4-top was cashed out and made their way to leave. I immediately asked the hostess, with absolute joy and anticipation, “could we please have that table? We’d love the airy window”. Her response was, “no, that’s a table for 4 and you are only 2”. 😕🙁☹️😢 It changed my whole mood, as the disappointment washed over my eager excitement. I felt like I was being punished. I was anticipating spending several hundred dollars here regardless, which is what you’d expect in the North End. But with that comment… I should have known it would continue downhill. When we were called to go inside, we were walked and walked and walked… to the very end of the restaurant inside, right by the kitchen. The table we were escorted to was atrocious and tiny, cramped between other larger tables. Felt like we were frowned upon as a smaller party. When we expressed our disdain, the person escorting us offered us a booth nearby… bigger but not far from another problem… the kitchen. I did not anticipate the heavy aroma of seafood, nor did I hope for the loud crashing and banging from the kitchen and the opening and closing of the doors. Definitely not the experience you hope for when planning to spend a pretty penny at a “nice place”. I felt… out of place. Like we were not welcome, so we were shoved into a corner of the restaurant that could easily be forgotten. Something we had looked forward to for MONTHS was falling apart in front of us. On a Friday night in the North End… we had a choice to make. So we made it. We both decided our money was better spent at a place that could accommodate a simple request and that felt at least a little welcoming. We explored and didn’t have too much luck for a bit… but then were pleasantly surprised by another restaurant. I’m sooooo sad that Cantina Italiana has been around for SO long, maybe they’ve grown complacent in just seeking a good paycheck. Please remember that people go out to have an incredible experience, not to be roadblocked and not be in control of their own enjoyment. Oh yeah, and Happy Anniversary to us! We CHOSE this place to celebrate a very important occasion to us, and it felt like you didn’t care at all. Thank god another restaurant came in clutch. Leaving this place and going somewhere else SAVED our night. We’ll be back to the North End next year, but will NEVER step foot near your establishment ever again. Thank you for reminding us the value and quality of GOOD SERVICE by not supplying any of yours.

Outstanding food and service. One of few that you can make a reservation, and they were right on time. I arrived 10 minutes before and they sat me immediately. Many classic dishes. Very attentive waiters. Nice soft bread and great wine choices. Food plates are generous, almost large in portion size and it was delicious. My chicken saltimbocca was amazing! Can't wait to go again.

Group of four for an early dinner (4:30pm). The hostess asked if we wanted booth or table, and we choose a table right at the open window. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the fresh air. The waitress was extremely helpful. When one of us couldn't decide, she was able to help him choose. All the food came out hot and delicious. We all had leftovers to take home. Would definitely go back next time I'm in the area!

Delicious. Mussels were on point, no fishy taste. The highlight??? The Gnocci. Pillowy, airy and delicious. They know how to do italian. Love it and will be back next time I am in Boston

Make sure to get the homemade/house made pasta, it is a much better experience and very tasty. The place was super busy so the waitress forgot our drinks. The bread was meh.

I dined at this restaurant on a Monday 1/25/22 from approximately 6-730 PM. During this time, the restaurant was only hosting several small groups of diners (2-4 per table) and the majority of folks seemed to be dining before attending the Bruins game at the nearby TD Garden. During our experience, all aspects of customer service was terrific as well as the menu and the setting. The only reason I have given 2 stars is that the food was bland and overcooked at every step. We ordered two pasta entrees, both were cream sauced based and did not taste of cheese. garlic, truffle, or any other flavor one might expect. They simply tasted of cream and overcooked pasta. Likewise, the calamari was overcooked to the point that it was devoid of flavor and had a rubber like texture. All in all, these dishes were laborious to consume and we finished a small portion. The reason we stayed and did not even bother to complain is that the martinis were superb as well as the waitstaff and hostess. The atmosphere was likewise on par with any other similar North End spot. I would not dine here again solely based on meal quality, could have had better frozen pasta from the supermarket.

This place is very welcoming. I found that each and every staff member immediately made eye contact and started helping us, if need be. I'd suggest to this restaurant that they keep this tradition on. Also, the menu and taste is perfect. Cheese in the pasta was top quality and in perfect quantity. NOTE: This restaurant is a little compact from inside though, you might wanna check before you go. However, I found it rather cozy. I highly recommend this place.

Would not recommend...'homemade' pasta was hard and very undercooked, the seats were terribly uncomfortable. They were on an angle and hurt my back immediately. Scarpiello was not at all traditional, sauce tasted like a slightly spicy melted butter. Will not be going back and would not recommend. The drinks were decent though...

Fabulous atmosphere and good food. The owner is so kind and amazing, however it would be smart to make a reservation if you are planning for a Saturday night.

A mixed bag of service and quality causing frustration. My party called and made reservations for dinner, but upon arrival they said that they had no record of it. This was frustrating, but they said we could get a table if we were willing to wait, which we did. The hostess was helpful, if unenthusiastically. We eventually got a table, great. Our service was pretty good throughout the meal. There was a mistake in the order that added an additional dish that no one ordered. We had four people but were brought 5 entrees. We didn't accept the additional one because we assumed it had been brought out to the wrong table. The meal was fine, but fairly bland. Pretty typical for touristy Italian places. I don't understand the appeal of these places given the price. When the bill arrived it still had the extra meal on it, forcing one of us to go and argue the point. They gave us a corrected bill and we paid, no harm done. Overall, a lot of frustration and difficulty for a run of the mill, average quality meal at tourist prices.

If I could give Cantina Italiana 10 stars I would. Five of us ate here, each ordering something different. Everyone’s food was fantastic. All of our food came out at the same time and our server, Judy was the best!

We had an amazing dinner at Cantina Italiana, the food was incredible, environment comfortable and impeccable service. Fairly priced for the quality and quantity of food. We left feeling like we had a very authentic Italian experience.

Nice place on the North End. You need to make reservations before hand especially for the weekend. The waiter was very thorough, friendly and attentive. The food was a but pricey for what it was but it was to be expected going to the North End. I probably would try other places around as there are many but I'm so happy to see these restaurants still going post covid.
