Not a great hospital experience. Husband went into Emergency Department and had to get an appendectomy. The aftercare at the hospital was not great; he did not feel like the nurses or doctor were very attentive to his needs. For his follow-up appointment, the doctor was not at all familiar with his chart and kept trying to insinuate he was after opiods (he took exactly what was prescribed and didn't even get refills). It really did not instill any level of confidence in the staff. For example, the doctor asked why he was back for a checkup so soon, when they were the ones that setup the follow-up appointment date. Also, when I tried to call to get information after his surgery, nobody answered the main patient lines. When they finally did pick up and transfer me to the nurses station, I was hung up on multiple times. I was calling for about 2-3 hours and never got through. I finally got through, was told they'd call me back, and they never did. To sum it up, the picture of the exam room where he had his follow-up appointment is a pretty accurate representation of the experience he had. 🤮 If you haven't lost a limb, maybe drive to another hospital....

My elderly Dad is a patient there. Just want to say that the nurses in ICU and M6 are wonderful. Every time you call they call you back in a timely manner. If you need to speak with doctors, do not wait for them to call you. You must advocate for your family member and call them

As a healthcare worker myself I am embarrassed, from the first person I met to waiting 5+ hours without a person checking in, asking me if I need anything to the next shift just introducing themselves. I was left in a room to sit for 5-6 hours (I’m still there) while I watch nurses playing with their phones talking about the radio stations in Boston. I’ve never been more frustrated in my life. If it was busy I would understand but I’m 1 of 4 patients. The nurse is probably playing games on her phone because she has 1 patient, then that means my nurse also only has 1 (me) too, so where is he/she/they/them? I don’t know the plan, the lab results, no idea if they even know I am here as there is no RN call button that they showed me. Here is my advice, skip this hospital go to Brigham or Beth Israel don’t make the mistake I did coming to the clear hospital.

Absolutely awful experience. My aunt went in for an ultrasound on her knee and they sent her to radiology. We had an appointment at 2:30. We get to radiology and wait OVER 30 MINUTES before they tell us we’re in the “wrong department” and they actually meant to send us to cardiology. Then they almost cancelled her appointment all together and told us we’d have to “reschedule.” They finally got the matter fixed and sent us over to cardiology. The whole ordeal took over an hour and my aunt was not seen for her 2:30 appointment until after 4pm. The only upside was the receptionist in cardiology was so nice and apologetic for the mix up even though it was not her fault. 0/10 experience and staff was all around rude, again, except for the receptionist in cardiology. I would rather let myself bleed out than come back here for medical care again.

This hospital has gone from 5 stars to 1 during the last 5 years. Where do I begin? The admin staff of the departments I have engaged with (cardio, urology) could care less about your health. Help with your insurance? You are on your own. There is absolutely zero effort to make your experience/visit pleasant in any way. The nurses I have encountered have a stone cold demeanor. You wonder why they took a job caring for people? You're lucky if you get a "how are you?", forget it being genuine. The equipment and rooms are outdated. Good luck with routine scans etc. They are booked months out! The emergency room looks like a free clinic. I do not recommend this place.

This hospital broke my heart with the treatment of my father in the ICU. In his final days as I visited, a nurse came in lowed his bed and said "I'm lowing the bed because I just had to change him" it was the attitude and my father was embarrassed and humiliated!! It wasn't needed, he had a visitor and she felt the need to come in a state that. As if he should be sorry. I was in shock at that cruelty to a human dying. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone or their loved ones. My last days with my father were not made with compassion. I would give anything to have transferred him to any other Boston hospital. Avoid this hospital!

I had surgery not once but twice for a broken humerus and dislocated shoulder. I was not happy that they used the wrong size plate on my humerus for the first surgery. The second surgery was to remove the wrong sized plate and the surgeon and staff were so unprofessional. My hospital stay was not much better they seem to be severely short staffed as I had to call the main number to be transferred to the nurses station for assistance three times. The chief trauma orthopedic surgeon is now leaving Saint Elizabeth’s hospital. That unit must’ve been created very recently because the communication was absolutely horrible nor did they go out of their way to assist a patient. I would not recommend anybody have Orthopedic surgery at this hospital. I was extremely disturbed with professionalism at this hospital.

My mother spent five days at this hospital and thank goodness my sister was able to stay close by because the nurses are seriously understaffed at this facility. They forgot to take her catheter out right after her surgery, stating a doctor had to order it even though it was on her post op instructions. I had to remind them two and a half days later, basically chasing down a doctor to ask him, to ask the nurses, to remove it. My mother's discomfort and requesting it multiple times wasn't enough to get results. Then discharge paperwork wasn't signed by the doctor. Over the following week, my mom's assisted living director, my brother, and myself tried contacting staff to get the issue resolved. The patient advocate on staff gave me the wrong information and then hung up on me. The run around was overwhelming. Three hours of persistence today and I finally found a nurse who took the time to help me. A good nurse is pure gold in my book. Award winning hospital?? I listened to the recorded message so many times while on hold, a voice touting the hospital's award winning services by a compassionate team of professionals. But no amount of repetitive droning will convince me. Proof is in the pudding as my granny would say, and this pudding was BAD.

An absolute mess for obstetric and postpartum care. Obstetric violence, lack of support for breastfeeding, zero respect for mother and baby. If you are thinking of having a baby here, I urge you to go somewhere else where you and your baby can receive more respectful care. I experienced repeated instances of obstetric violence delivering my baby in this hospital. Informed consent and the patient’s autonomy mean nothing — even when my partner and I spoke up loudly and said STOP, a resident anesthesiologist continued and performed a botched procedure resulting in weeks of suffering. OBGYN’s treated my body as an object, performing painful and sensitive procedures without ANY information or seeking consent, and endangering my baby who was on my chest as I writhed in unexpected pain. After giving birth, I read and investigated more, finding that some of these procedures are absolutely unacceptable through the World Health Organization and that these are gross violations of my autonomy. Postpartum care was even worse: pathetic, tragic, and endangering to the family. Nurses explicitly gave me false information regarding breastfeeding, saying “my milk supply wasn’t enough” and giving my baby formula before my milk even had a chance to come in. The lactation consultant simply never came — but meanwhile, every other person in the hospital came in constantly. We never had a private, restful, educational, or healing moment postpartum — instead we had continued disruptions into our private family space. Nurses told me horrible, incorrect information that jeopardized my mental health postpartum, like that my “baby was taking advantage of me” and that I was “too attached to my baby” (because I wanted to hold him when he cried). Again, these are things deemed unacceptable by the World Health Organization, and they are the reasons why maternal and infant care in the US is absolutely shameful. During pregnancy, the results to my gestational diabetes test were lost twice due to poor organization. I had to go through the test three times. (And this test has lots of side effects for the whole day). Coming to this hospital endangered me and my baby in many ways. Both our mental and physical health suffered due to this absolutely negligent care. A few decent nurses helped us survive, and I pity the work environment that these kind individuals go through each day. Thankfully I had the support and resilience to overcome the shameful “care” I received, but I urge any other woman to find a more respectful place to deliver your baby. The only good outcome of this hospital is that its pathetic care inspired me to begin studying toward becoming a birth worker so I can prevent other women from experiencing what I went through.

Absolutely the best hospital. A lady named Sharon at patient registration and Dr. O'Neil Jr,Edward,MD are very nice people. They helped me a lot and got me out of there in about 1 hour. I feel much better. Thank you all.

We had a negative experience with this hospital where the staff showed a lack of responsibility and responsiveness. Six months ago, we visited their emergency department for my husband's medical issue. Unfortunately, the receptionist made many mistakes while entering his information, including the incorrect date of birth and misspelling of his name, despite providing his ID and insurance card to her. This carelessness caused us significant trouble in obtaining the prescription from the pharmacy. Furthermore, months later, we find ourselves having to cover all the treatment fees personally because the information provided doesn't match the records with the insurance company. Despite multiple attempts by phone calls and emails to the hospital, our efforts to rectify their mistake have been in vain. To exacerbate the situation, they insist on an in-person visit to the hospital for us to submit documents to correct the information. This is particularly challenging as we've relocated to a far state three months ago. We find it frustrating that the hospital refuses to accept documents and make corrections by mail or email.

I went to St. Elizabeth’s while visiting Boston on Christmas Eve night. I was in a lot of abdominal pain, having the worst cramp I’ve ever had in my life, vomiting and very weak. Just to be clear how bad I was, the ambulance took me there. Once I arrived they put me in the emergency room and there I stayed for a long time before someone came to see me. The nurse was very impatient, she was asking me what was my height and weight while I had my mouth inside the bag vomiting, I couldn’t answer her because I was VOMITING A LOT, I didn’t have the strength to answer her, and she was asking again VERY IMPATIENT. After I answer her, she left and I waited a long time again to see a doctor, who was actually really nice and kind with me. The nurse came back with medication and that was the most horrible time for me, she couldn’t find mt vein (which is fine, I was very dehydrated and weak), and went the said “I found it” and poked me with the needle, I feel like she lost the vein again, and it was poking me with the needle inside my arm. It was horrible, I could feel her poking my vain in a very weird way. And my arm was so sore after that day, it also had a little lump, I had to put ice on it for 2 days to get better. The nurse was also very rude with people that was waiting for me at the emergency reception. I sent a review directly to St Elizabeth’s website and nobody answer me or contact me at least to say they are sorry about my experience there, so I guess they really don’t care about people. Here’s a picture of my arm 5 days after getting treatment there, I’m happy I don’t live in Boston and don’t need to go there anymore.

This hospital has no regards for human lives. I must say I’ve met some incredible Doctors, NP…but some of these staff especially those that scheduled appointments needs to be reevaluate. I called for 2 weeks trying to schedule an appointment, left dozens of messages, with no success. I walked in, driving 40 min to schedule the appointment in person, 4 young women working the receptionist area all were preoccupied with their lashes and nails and how big they want their breasts to be. When one of them directed me to go to another, the other reply by saying “I am not available, miss you can just wait over there”. She was filling her nails while sitting on her desk. I pulled my phone and make another call to the department while I was being tossed from person to another, I stand there watching these ladies pick up only to hung up the phone slowly again. It took me ONE hour to schedule the appointment. Horrible people! Now I see why they immediately send a survey after a patient just visited. I only wish my doctors could work in a better institution than this terrible place that called itself a hospital! Use your insurance elsewhere, do some research before going there.

My aunt is currently in the hospital. She has been here for days and noone will tell her or her family what's going on. I called before driving 40 minutes away and when I arrived they allowed me to go to the 6th floor but the nurse at the desk had no information for me and wouldn't listen to me when I said I called before I came and they told me she could have a visitor. Well she can't. She is confused and don't even know why she is in there in the first place. She's been pressing the call button for over an hour now. Ive been on the phone with her. Shes been yelling for a nurse or doctor to help her and noone is replying back to her. She is very uncomfortable and in alot of pain. They are just ignoring her. She is a human don't treat her like a nobody. Someone should be checking in on the patients to make sure they are comfortable or if they want or need something. I hope and pray things get better from here. I've always heard good things about this hospital and I'm in total shock that this is happening. BTW this isn't even her regular hospital.

Wonderful doc pre op post op. Then everything changed on 6W. Dirty. Poor care terrible nurses. Lots of loud laughing at nurses station at night I wonder if toilet paper roll is still rolling around BR floor. No continuity of care. Don’t ring your buzzer. They don’t answer. I would not take an animal here I could go on but I won’t. Thankfully I’m home safe

This review is 2 years, 8 months and 17 days in the making. If you are a woman of color, Please, I repeat, please do not go to St. Elizabeth medical center Labor and delivery. I gave birth in this hospital twice and it was a good experience back then. so when I was having my 4th child, 17 years later I decided to return to St. Elizabeth hospital because of Dr. Karen Poley, Who I always have a great experience with, she always listens and always take the time to explained and comfort me and since my 4th pregnancy was complicated I decide to go back to someone I could trust. On April 15, 2021 I had a doctor's visit with Dr Poley unfortunately, my blood pressure was high and she told me I needed to deliver that day, I was giving magnesium to induce labor. 1. it took several RN to put in my IV in, after several failed attempts someone from the emergency room was called to successfully insert my IV 2. Then a catheter was painfully inserted into my Urethra. I had two bags of bloods and urine before it cleared up. after several hours of being in labor things got more completed, my inside were beginning to swolled or something like that I can't quite remember but I needed to get an emergency c sections. 3. I got on the surgery table my stomach cut wide open, baby about to be pulled out. The nurse and my partner sitting side by side. I felt my lips beginning to swolled up. I look at the nurse and I said something is wrong with my lips they feel like they are getting bigger. She said no your lips were that big. I turn over to my partner who was sitting by my head and said, my lips feel like it's getting bigger. He looks at me and He said to the nurse sitting next to him. Jokingly, I know she got big lips but her lips are swollen, while she is disagreeing with my partner. I feel like my throat is closing up and before I can finish my statement I passed out. (now if my partner was not there the outcome would have been different.) I don't know what happens afterwards only what my partner told me. He got kicked out of the room. Doctors running in and out and no one is telling him what is going on. Obviously I made it and so did my sons. They said I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. I was just grateful that my son was fine. 4. after my delivery I was in a nice comfortable room, they kept giving me shots in my stomach with no explainations. I was urining without having the need to go no warning just what felt like a water ballon getting pop 5. Then the next day I was told I was changing room, I said why the lady told me my partner requested it. I was send to a very smelly urine infested room. I ask them to mopped and it did not help. I felt like the were listening to my conversations, because every time I complain to my partner about something the would come and fix it. I think they were afraid of me suing, which I wasn't going to because I was just happy I had a beautiful healthy baby boy. 6. For the next two days I stayed in that duty room with shots being administer in my belly and urinating with very little control, when the pain meds ran out urinating became extremely painful and for three weeks every time I urinated I was in tears, It felt like I was urinating rocks. They gave me pills for UTI I didn't have a UTI and the pills did not help. I think the was a lacerations when they force the catheter in me. My recovery was terrible. 7. Now on to my son we end up staying an extra day just so he can get circumcis, The surgeon kept changing the time on when he can come and do it. My son fail the first hearing test and no one really explain what to look out for and problem that may accrue. He passed the second one with an 8. Currently he is speech delayed and stilled exploring why. He also had Jaundice which again was not explained to me properly. The RNs were rough with him when squeezing blood out. Take what you want from this review, in my opinion I didn't have to go through what I when through. I am not in the medical field but I know I didn't receive the best care. my concerns were ignored and I almost died

Find a new hospital and a new doctor are my new year’s resolutions. I have had two procedures in the GI unit recently and there won’t be another. During the first I was left waiting for 3 hrs past my appointment while I had nothing to eat or drink for 15 hours prior to the procedure. I kept my mouth shut. I was asked to get a CT stomach scan prior to my second procedure just a few weeks ago. Neither my doctor nor his staff bothered to mention that I was required to sit in the waiting area drinking 2 liters of barium over 90 minutes. When I voiced my concerns that someone should have told me this I was dismissed by my doctor who didn’t think it was a big deal even though the Covid-19 crisis was escalating and I wanted to limit my time in the hospital as I am 68 years old and have both heart and immune issues. I then waited in a bed in the GI unit for 2 hrs for my second procedure which ultimately led to a shouting match with my doctor because I was upset that even after an hour past my appointment no one thought it appropriate to tell me why the delay or when I would be taken. Again I was 13 hours without food or drink. There is no excuse for this behavior. I gave this rating one star because they are very good at asking me my name and dob. Other than that I wouldn’t let this hospital treat my dog even if I had one.

This was my first time attending St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. Everyone was very professional, skilled and efficient. My entire surgery process was handled with utmost care. I normally do not leave google reviews for Hospitals but St. Elizabeth Medical Center earned this review. I encourage anyone needing medical treatment to seek this hospital out. You will be properly cared for.

All the staff from parking attendants to doctors were phenomenal! Their level of truly caring for a patient or visitor to their medical facility was incredible. Above and beyond that, I have received calls from my doctor and his staff to see how I am and I have had the opportunity to rate the facility based on my experience. That shows me they really do care and will strive to make others feel as confident about their medical care at St. Elizabeth’s as I did.

The staff were amazing. I spent 29 days in the hospital and was treated in 4 different units. All of them made my stay as pleasant as possible. The Cardiac Units were modern, clean and state of the art. When you are facing major surgery it was very comforting to have such caring staff. I highly recommend St. Elizabeth for anyone who has cardiac issues.

My husband had ENT surgery at this hospital. At his 3 month post op visit no attending was present as initially scheduled so the procedure he was supposed to have that day could not be done. We were still billed for the visit and the procedure was scheduled for 6 weeks later which was the next calendar year. The fact that an attending did not show for the original appointment meant that our deductible reset and their error ended up costing us an additional 3.6 thousand dollars.

My girlfriend that I love was sent to this hospital because there was a lodged gallstone in her liver. They delayed the operation to remove the gallstone and went to operate days later and lost the gallstone. They left her in massive amounts of pain for two days when they could have operated and fix the problem, now they don’t know where the problem is they are clueless in their abilities as professional healthcare. Please never go to this hospital, they don’t act professional and they also have no urgency to care and fix problems with with the anatomy in a persons body. They delay treatment so it caused more problems and complications in my girlfriends body and possible life.

I have visited St. Elizabeth’s for over 10 years. I’ve had surgeries and other small procedures done there. The most recent one has been the absolute worst and I will never visit here again. Not only was I told that my procedure would be 100% covered by insurance during my registering phone call, they are now denying they have “any record of this” and I have now been stuck with a bill that’s over $2,000 because of the procedure and subsequent ER visits. Two ER visits after the procedure due to the doctor’s failure to successfully perform the procedure. I have been been stuck trying to contact billing and customer service for MONTHS and do not hear back. So unprofessional and digusting.

Most traumatizing medical experience I've had. I felt my CT was read incorrectly which is why they didn't see the peritonsillar abscess the first night I was in the ER. When I returned to the ER the next day they saw it on the second CT. The ENT specialist failed to numb the whole sight before draining the abscess so I felt both the cutting and the widening of the tissue in the back of my throat (that's the part I still have nightmares about). It didn't help the experience that my last name, address, emergency contact, and pharmacy were input wrong at registration. Luckily I caught those mistakes- always be vigilant in your own care. Biggest benefit I got from visiting St Elizabeths; learning to never implicitly trust. Doctors are just people who can be bad at their jobs like the rest of us. I reported to patient advocacy so hopefully St. Elizabeths can learn from this.

The cardiac catheter lab at St. Elizabeth's is second to none. I can think of nowhere else to have this procedure done. But while I understand that the Covid pandemic has reduced the abilities of the floor staff in the rest of the hospital, this does not excuse the extreme lack of care in the recovery ward. The issues included: No attending doctor available. No monitoring of patient vitals No medications given If it wasn't for a traveling nurse arriving at 3am, I fear I would have been completely ignored. This is in contrast to very good treatment 1 year ago. Steward should be ashamed.

As sick as I was, I enjoyed my experience at this hospital. The nurse at the station who took my ID and Insurance was very sweet, the nurses who took care of me for the two hours I’ve been there were very sweet and caring. They couldn’t find a vein in my arms to insert the IV needle but they were patient with me and we joked about this. They printed out papers of what could be my illness and how to treat it in the days to come. Overall it was a very good experience and I left the hospital feeling better.

Tried to make an appointment to a psychiatrist. I was greeted in such a way that I felt as if I had come to ask for money from the Queen of England. the front desk girl looked like a Hollywood doll and acted appropriately arrogant and unfriendly. lost all desire to deal with this particular office, despite the fact that there is a need for help. in any case, the phone numbers and information about the staff of this center is incorrect. moreover, I called several times before visiting there and inquired about a particular doctor. no one told me that it does not accept patients. this hospital does not care about the freshness of the information and the polite communication skills of the staff.

A nightmare to get to, park, and work with. I was referred to this hospital for a neuropsychologist evaluation, waited well over a month and a half for an appointment, drove an hour and a half, and was greeted with a half-hearted pseudo-therapy session. Disorganized and disappointing in every way, get an appointment elsewhere if you can.

From the moment I walked in the staff was helpful Snd happy and answered all my questions. The registration was easy and the woman who helped me was kind and positive and made me feel comfortable. My doctors surgical team was great. The recovery nurses were eager to ask me how I was feeling and get me a drink. They made sure I had all of my post op instructions. They were the kindest and most knowledgeable nurses. I would definitely go back there again! I recommend them highly

I went into the emergency department with a fast moving infection and I was promptly attended. I spent about 12 hours in a ED room before I was moved to a room. My roommate was agitated and disruptive and even though I didn’t ask to move the nurses found her another room. I appreciated that. I also appreciated their efforts to discharge me as soon as I had finished my last IV treatment rather than keep me another night.

Hans Van Lancker, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon, and his team are phenomenal! They are just good, caring people and of course, highly skilled and well educated professionals. I had consults with 3 different orthopedic surgeons at two other hospitals in the Greater Boston area because I had a somewhat complicated Bonebrake in my ankle. Hans was a clear best choice and I can say that six days after the surgery, I feel tremendously better. The follow up from Hans, himself and from the staff at St E has been simply outstanding. It’s obvious that they really care about their patients and the outcomes. I would send my wife and any of my three children to Hans for their orthopedic needs. In my opinion, Hans is the best in Boston. Kevin S.

I’m so satisfied with the care I’ve received at St E’s. I have prostate cancer so I’ve worked with urologists, oncologists, radiologists and their staff and everyone has been beyond professional - nice and caring. I would always recommend St Elizabeth’s/Dana Farber to people in need of care. A truly great asset to our community.

If I had known the awful experience I would have at St. Elizabeth's in Brighton, I never would have gone. I went for a basic allergy skin test a couple months ago (the doctor wasn't even wearing a mask properly, by the way... it's a mask, not a chin strap!), and the staff at the front desk were rude as well. I stood there waiting for several minutes to get checked in, and the receptionist was just messing around on her phone. She saw me and continued texting and didn't acknowledge me at all. Not only were the allergy test results incorrect and not helpful, but they billed me more than $36,000 for the appointment. I've been calling and trying to get the billing issue resolved for the last couple of months and there's still no end in sight. Finally had to get the attorney general's office involved. Not sure why a basic allergy test costs $36,000, but if you need to get an allergy test done, DO NOT go to St. Elizabeth's unless you want to pay thousands of dollars for a doctor who doesn't understand how masks work during a pandemic. I called the billing office last week and the rep I spoke with told me I better pay the bill, even though it's currently in review, because it's going to get sent to collections. I spoke with another representative today and she told me that was incorrect. I have no idea what to believe at this point since I've been jerked around and lied to by the billing department so many times. At this point, I'm just hoping the attorney general's office can help me fix this.

Because of this virus everyone is going Crazy with paranoia. It would have been easier for my wife to push my wheelchair. The nice young lady that did was very pleasant and cheerful as was the Nurse whom took my virus test. My wife had a terrible time out front when she pulled up to see if I was in the lobby and a large Valet started yelling at her that there was no live Parking although there where people doing just that. Thank you.

Waited over and hour and a half for every single appointment with no apology or explanation. Had to call my employer and use more of my sick time in each instance. For an ultrasound, the first technician was making faces the entire time, clearly as though something was wrong. She made an error and could not find my ovary?! Then I received no call from radiology explaining my results, despite the hefty fee I paid simply for them to read it. The front desk staff is incredibly rude. I was told by my provider to make a follow up in a year, when I brought it up to the front desk she scoffed at me, and could not fathom how I could request making an appointment in that time frame. Not knowing what to do, I said I could call back, and she sarcastically goes “uh yeah, that would be great.” They charged me $200 to see an OB/GYN, only because she is located within the hospital. That’s literally the same as an ER charge. Lastly, I have been on the phone with insurance every single day for two weeks due to them messing up billing multiple times. The sad thing is the provider herself is absolutely wonderful, but I refuse to be subjected to this incompetence any longer.

I delivered my first child at St. Elizabeth's two weeks ago and it was the best experience I could have hoped for. I was admitted promptly to Labor and Delivery. Both the delivery and postpartum rooms were very clean and comfortable. Because of COVID, we were unable to leave the room during our time there so ordered meals from a generous menu and they were delicious. The most memorable part of our experience was just the incredible care from the doctors and dozens of nurses that tended to us throughout our two and a half days at the hospital. We were all checked on often, received a lot of self-care and baby supplies, and were able to get some much needed sleep when our daughter spent some time in the nursery. We are very grateful to all the staff at St. Elizabeth's who made us feel so safe and comfortable.

Our uncle died in the hospital on the 20th of December. Not only did they not call us to let us know he passed we still have yet to receive his phone, iPad, and wallet. With all the times we’ve called to locate his items. We keep getting disconnected, or transferred and sent in circles. I hope no other grieving family has to go through all this torture in order to get personal belongings back. They weren’t sent with his body and being that we know he had these items with him, they already should of been sent back to the family. We shouldn’t have to wait this long. I do not recommend this facility and I live in NY. As of 01/11/2021 Edit to post: patient advocacy said that they have no record of uncles phone, wallet or iPad so now we have to hire an attorney to search their cameras as to where his belongings are. Clearly at this point someone in the staff has taken the items as we have phone records that put uncle in the hospital.

Any surgery is terrifying, even to a “frequent flyer” in the OR…I was petrified knowing I was having a permanently implanted device. The entire staff was incredibly empathetic and extremely well rehearsed. They made the entire experience one of the easiest procedures ever. The competency of each team member made me feel very comfortable. Being the patient in this was a well rehearsed process even expedited my departure and recovery process. I cannot say enough about Dr. Natan and Sarah, who addressed my every question, concern and fear. My elderly mother was brought to St. Elizabeth emergency room after a fall. Since she had a sign of trauma on her head CAT-scan was performed shortly after her arrival. More than an hour after her arrival I asked the staff for some food for my mother. My mother eats very little but regularly. She was getting hungry. I repeated my request to the person who identified herself as a "care provider". In 3 hours my mother spent in emergency room, in spite of my requests, she was not given anything to eat although it had nothing to do with her treatment. It is not a huge deal - just ridiculous. Meanwhile, I had to intervene to decline 2 unnecessary X-Rays because she did not experience any sharp pain in her knee and elbow. The pain was very mild, not sharp, and did not interfere with her movement. Out of 3 hours in emergency room we spent almost 2 hours just sitting and waiting for the Dr to convey negative results of the CAT-scan. We are thankful for the test but overall experience is pretty bad.

This was my first experience at St. E. I recently moved to the Brighton area, so I decided to go there as I was in pain and wanted to be close to home. It is Not "my" hospital. At any rate, I waited about 4-5 hours to be seen. When I finally got into the exam room for some resin the Nurse asked me where I live. Don't know why but felt that was curious. I was never offered any pain medication and I didn't ask. I did not want to be seen as a person seeking meds. Test were eventually run and I was sent home after 7 hours with a script for a few Tylenol. I mentioned that I had to go to work after so when would I have had time to fill a prescription? Came in pain and left in pain. Doesn't mean it's not a good place...I just didn't feel comfortable. Though, as a Black woman I get that feeling often when seeking medical assistance. It will continue to get better though...peace

I love st Elizabeth’s and look to them for so many healthcare needs. However, right now until they fix the horrendous parking issue and the fact you can only go in the main entrance after walking all the way from the garage in a perilous walk to the front door…. They get total thumbs down!!! They can open the st Margaret’s entrance but do not! They can put Valets in st Margaret’s but do not! Oh and now not only are we captive the valet is also more expensive!!!! Really????

If you must go to this hospital, make sure you have someone with you who will speak up for you and protect you. Otherwise go somewhere else. This hospital can pose a danger to your health and your wellbeing, and put your life at risk. Because many of their doctors are nothing but charlatans.

This was my first time going to this hospital. I had an appointment to have a lump on my hand checked out. I already was nervous due to fact I am 29 years old having A LUMP checked out on my hand..staff made my experience a lot worse. Like I said above..this was my first time going to this hospital so I was not sure exactly where to go for my appointment. The hospital is massive and I did not want to be late so I just went to the first set of doors I saw. It happened to be the emergency room. I know this was not the right location but I figured i could ask staff at the front desk where to go. I attempted to tell the woman at the front desk that I was looking for the correct location of my appointment..she immediately snapped my referral order form from me and started getting loud saying YOU ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE! I responded by saying i understand that I just need some help figuring out the correct location. She said NOT HERE. This sent my anxiety over the edge. This entire hospital experience was HORRIBLE!! I would never recommend going to this hospital ever..they don’t seem to care at all about their job or their patients

The labor and delivery was nice but the maternity unit downstairs was pretty terrible to be honest. I was unable to get any privacy or rest after labor I was pretty upset about that. I was shocked at how the pediatrician treated me and my daughter thankfully I made it out of there safely. They should work on being nicer to people and having more compassion for people especially after a vulnerable moment like giving birth to a child.

Dr. Cluett is the BEST!!! Not only did he do a phenomenal job on my hip replacement on 16 Sep 2020, but his follow-ups were great. Great "bedside manner" and it shows he truly cares about his patients' quality of life. I recently had some concerns because I fell on my "new" hip several times (though I won't go into detail how), and his staff scheduled me an appointment within 1 week to assess my concerns. In today's medical scheduling, that's virtually immediately! X-rays were perfect, and he gave me a cortisone shot (bursa) that same visit, and now I feel GREAT! He's earned my highest recommendation!!! It's refreshing to be able to see a doctor that's genuinely concerned about my well-being, a consummate professional, and a phenomenal doctor!!! THE BEST!!!

I was transferred from a local hospital to St Elizabeth's and consider myself extremely lucky to have gotten to this amazing hospital. The team of doctors and nurses led by Dr Agnihotri were by far the most compassionate, professional people I have ever met. From the moment I arrived I always felt the person helping me was committed to my needs exclusively. Never was I rushed or dismissed no matter how busy that person was at that time. My medical needs were alway explained so I understood and my husband was kept totally in the loop never wondering if I was okay. The staff and doctors were so friendly and kind! I was quickly taken care of at the ER. However, be warned: do NOT go to the main entrance if you need the ER. I went to the main entrance and was turned away, being told to walk the long way to the ER (I couldn't walk through the hospital because of Covid policies). I had to walk down stairs, down the road, and up a hill while limping and cradling my broken wrist. I also had to walk this alone as no one helped me to make sure I got there safely.

Due to the pandemic, there was a long wait to get my mammogram compared to other years where I could sometimes get it the same day I called for an appointment. So when I arrived, I was feeling a bit concerned that I was well beyond a year from my last mammogram. I should add I have no risk factors other than age and have never had breast cancer. Still I was worried. The technician who helped me was lovely and did her best to reassure me that the wait for me did not guarantee a higher risk of cancer. After I was done, she asked if I would like to stay and wait for my results as she, quite correctly, thought I might worry about my results until I received them. I appreciated her kindness and agreed to wait. The results showed no cancer and no changes from my previous image. I left very relieved and grateful for her kindness! My experience at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center for my mammogram was wonderful as usual! I have been going here for years and it is always a good experience!

We had a very positive experience with St. Elizabeth’s labor and maternity ward. I was a scheduled c section and the whole team took great care to ensure I was in and out of surgery quickly while making sure my husband was included in caring for our new baby boy at the time of delivery. We were taken to our maternity room quickly and the nursing staff took very good care of us. Their pediatric staff was kind and detailed oriented, ordering follow labs and appointments for us post discharge. We would definitely pick St. Elizabeth’s for future deliveries.

So my Father in law is in ICU here and the person running the front desk today on Sunday February 5 at 1:30 with braids in her hair should not be the first face people are greeted with. They way she spoke to a man going in before us and then how she thought she was going to speak to us in the same rude tone. She was not happy when we called her out about how she is speaking to people. I will be calling hospital manager tomorrow. Now the nurses caring for my father in law in ICU have been absolutely awesome and so thoughtful.

I had spinal surgery on 10/23 and 10/24. After my surgery on 10/23, I was put on 7East. The receiving nurse said to me “but you can walk right?” 2 hours post op. I could not bear weight at all. The transport staff ended up transferring me from one bed to another because the nurse stated she was unsure how. My BP cuff was left on and running through the evening causing significant bruising on my arm as well. She also brought me a spirometer when she meant to bring me a nebulizer. When I asked if I needed both she said “no I brought that by mistake”. Shift change happens at 11 and my new nurse asks why I’m not using my spirometer. I explain the previous nurse said it was brought by mistake. My new nurse is clearly frustrated and hands it to me to use. She provided incorrect instructions and told me to breathe out to move the ball. I obviously could not get that to work because you are supposed to breathe in. When I asked for help she said “well it’s not like I am putting my mouth on there so you just need to figure it out”. I repeatedly needed to hit my call button when various alarms would sound prompting no nursing or aide response. I also had to repeatedly ask for my medications. Possibly the worst part was that I had not eaten in 24 hours. The nurses were instructed to provide me food until midnight as I had surgery the following day as well. They did not. So I had to go a full 48 hours without eating due to an error. I even asked for food and was told no. I was then moved to 6CMC after my second surgery. You may be wondering why I provided 4 stars and the reason for that are the following staff members: Heather, RN on 7East, Theresa, RN on 6CMC, Olivia RN on 6CMC, Faye RN on 6CMC, Karen RN on 6CMC, Howard MD and hospitalist, Lauren PT, and my OT who I unfortunately do not recall the name of. These staff members encouraged me when I felt I couldn’t ambulate, made sure I had everything I needed, stayed on top of my pain, helped me on and off the commode without rushing me, kept me laughing, and were the epitome of professionalism. They exemplified what patient care should be. Special shout out to Maria, RN in the PACU who helped me wake up from anesthesia on Monday and although she was not assigned to me, came to see me after my second surgery. Waking up to a friendly face rubbing my arm saying “I heard you did great honey. Wishing you a speedy recovery” was so sweet. To go out of her way to do that shows what kind of nurse she is. I am a board certified case manager and social worker who deals with many people in and out of the hospital. The level of care I received on 6CMC should be the baseline for care. I heard rumblings of staffing shortages, needing to reallocate staff, and the stress regarding keeping up with everyone’s needs. That energy never entered my room and all of the aforementioned staff members made it appear effortless. Thank you to the staff at SEMC who cared for me and truly helped this 31 year old complicated spine patient.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I went here after sustaining an injury the day after moving to the area. I had a payment to make for that, which I paid with no issue. Then, miraculously I am sent another bill. In that second bill they say they have tried to contact me about it, which is false, and I was given 7 days to pay. Not once was this bill mentioned or sent to me, and was not visible when I made the first initial payment. Their billing department here is a pile of hot garbage. Not to mention I was treated terribly by the ER desk, the individual who took my xrays, and the doctor I saw for my follow up appointment. Go to any other medical center in the area.
