Amazing scenery, the drive up was spectacular as well, I'm sure it's super busy when the road is fully opened past the cable car. The road workers were clearing the snow on the roads today (7/6/23) so I'd guess it'll be open in a week or so

The nature is beautiful and powerful. The people however are idiots. Parking wherever, feeding the poor bears, going out of the car to take pictures of them etc. Very tourist-infested. Btw you can follow the road on Google maps, wherever you see orange or red color, there's a bear.

A wonderful place to be. Green natural rain forests. Valleys. Twisty roads. Virgin eco system. Thanks God it was Tsaushesku (Communist Leader) that revealed it to the people by making one of the best roads to drive in Earth. Make sure to stay close at least 2 - 3 days. Prepare yourself to see real Bears.

If you like roadtrips the Transfagarasan definitely has to be on your bucketlist. Wonderful roads through never ending forests - and you get the chance to see bears, just wonderful. I was there in late october and experienced wonderful autumn colours!

Beautiful road! We could see several bears from the car, and enjoyed having Lake time, forest time and mountain time. The great curves and overall diversity we see along the way are quite unique.

The most beautiful road in Europe. Incredible views. Reason for hundred of pictures and stops to admire the view. We found 3 bears on the side of the road. Such a pity that the road is not open all year long. Due to extreme winter and weather condition, some parts of the road are not perfect, but still acceptable.

Atemberaubend!!! Wasserfälle, ein Bergsee, die Berge selbst....unglaublich eindrucksvoll und dazu noch herum laufende Bären. Es ist fast nicht möglich, es mit Worten zu beschreiben: man muss es gesehen und erlebt haben.

Definitely a memorable experience when you catch a glimpse of a bear in the wild. I had the luck! Be sure to try the smoked rinds at the stands! Delicious!

Loved it. It's a beautiful scenic road to drive on. We did see 12 bear on that day and the lake is just gorgeous. Lots of pull up spaces and beauty spots to stop by.

Very scenic road but loads of cars. You can get a traffic jam due to the lake where everyone stops by and blocks the road. Be aware of bears! DO NOT FEED THEM.

The most amazing road I've drove in. The scenery is fantastic and you you would probably get to see BEARS wondering across the road.

Great experience! It's pretty crowded, but the landscapes, the views are stunning. You will need a windbreaker, as the temperatures at that altitude (~2000m) are lower and the wind is stronger. To avoid the traffic jams, you should be there before 9.30 AM

Heard scary things about this road but it was so much fun. It was a fairly easy drive and I was only driving a 1ltr car. I would recommend this drive to anyone. Saw bears too which was an added bonus. Don’t listen to the horror stories.

More than 150 km in length, Romania's most spectacular and best-known road, an impressive scenic route through the Carpathian virgin nature.

This was in my bucket list, I wanted to drive this road in my late father’s memory. It was such an amazing experience! Drive carefully, stop on the areas that are authorized to stop, take pictures/videos, drive some more, get to the top, enjoy the view and the ambiance, drive back in one continuous way and feel that you’ve enjoyed something that thousands of men built by hand in order to connect both sides of the Carpathian Mountains back in the 1970’s

Most iconic road of Europe 🌍 breathtaking views, you can have a meal and a pint at one of the two wooden houses at the top with view at Bâlea lake, also there is a ski cabin to go at Bâlea waterfall, you can go hiking, lots of souvenir shops etc Be aware i was there around 10.00 AM on a Monday and the place was crowded, cars all over the road, people park literally on the Transfăgărășan road and block traffic both ways, on weekends is worse...

It was raining heavily, so being on a motorbike didn't help. Though it is a legend of a road and certainly spectacular, the road surface left a lot to be desired. It has become heavily commercialised. Glad that I did it and some of the scenery is unforgettable.

Must see! From here you can hike to surrounding mountains that are just beautiful. The trails are well marked. The down side are the selling "kiosks" with all kind of stuff.

I was lucky that weather was sunny all day. Beautiful place to drive. Amazing sceneries. About 4 hours drive from Bucharest. Day trip from Bucharest will be hectic. I stayed over at Transfagarasan. It’s closed from Nov and throughout the winter. Strongly recommend this drive.

This is a beautiful and unique place in Europe. The scenery is fabulous, it couln't have been painted nicer than this. Everyone will enjoy this. The stop at the top, where te lake is, is realy okay. Prices are quite low, so no issues there. The tarmac is not the smoothest, but this is a mountain road, from late october to early april it is closed, it is hard to keep up the quality of the asphalt. Maybe the next time i'll take a spin there it will be better and I will make an update. It is still a 5/5. If you are looking for more of a challenge, I also reccomend the "Transalpina Highway", that is 100% better than the "Stelvio Pass" in Austria.

Nice driving road, great view. You might get lucky and see a few bears, but keep your distance. Also carefull on the potholes on southern side of the road (Arges county)

I was unfortunate to find it half closed and on a rainy day! But it was still amazing to go up there!!

Such a beautiful place of Romania. But please stop feeding the bear. It’s interrupting nature and they will attack. They are not your pets. Get your own pets.

A dream for vehicles of all types. Be prepared for all weather at the top. Nice food stands on both sides near the top. Be mindful of the road condition. Top marks for motorcyclists.

Beautiful views, worth of finding a parking spot (just under the top you can park for free, on top it's a paid parking) and walking up to the peak to see the view of the road and the lake and the peaks in the back. Note that the road up from the north side is good, on the south there are a lot of holes and the unexpected gaps that make it difficult to drive in the evening /night - but not impossible. On south road you get to see the bears, dam and artificial lake.
