略称：UMUT）は、国立大学法人東京大学の全学センターとして設置されている教育研究機関かつ博物館である。1966年（昭和41年）4月に開館した。特別展示「珠玉の昆虫標本—江戸から平成の昆虫研究を支えた東京大学秘蔵コレクション」の内覧会が、平成30年7月13日に開催されました。
今回の特別展示は、本館に収蔵されている約70万点の昆虫標本のうち、日本の昆虫研究史の源流ともいえる学術標本から現在に至るまで継続的に収集、研究されてきた秘蔵コレクション約40,000点を一挙公開するもので、この中には約200年前の江戸時代に製作された日本最古の昆虫標本、近代養蚕学の父・佐々木忠次郎やミツクリザメで知られる箕作佳吉の明治～大正期の昆虫標本、昭和初期に採集された鳥類学者の侯爵・山階芳麿の昆虫標本、ブータン国王陛下から贈呈されたブータンシボリアゲハ、昆虫学史上に名を連ねる加藤正世、五十嵐邁、石川良輔のコレクションなどが含まれます。
