(Translated by Google) The University Museum, The University of Tokyo (abbreviation: UMUT) is an educational research center established as a university-wide center of the University of Tokyo. It is an institution and a museum. It opened in April 1966 (Showa 41). A preview of the special exhibition "Gem Insect Specimens-The University of Tokyo's Treasured Collection that Supported Insect Research from Edo to Heisei" was held on July 13, 2018. Of the approximately 700,000 insect specimens stored in the main building, this special exhibition is a treasured collection that has been continuously collected and studied from academic specimens, which can be said to be the origin of Japanese insect research history, to the present. 40,000 items will be released at once, including the oldest insect specimens in Japan produced in the Edo period about 200 years ago, the father of modern entomology, Tadajiro Sasaki, and Kakichi Mitsukuni, known for his sharks. Insect specimens of the period, insect specimens of the avian scholar Marquis Yamashina collected in the early Showa period, Bhutanitis ludgeha presented by His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Masayo Kato, Suguru Igarashi, Ryosuke Ishikawa, who are famous in the history of entomology. Includes collections and more. Although it is a small museum, the quality of its collection is top-notch. It's a blessing that facilities like this are free.

This is a free museum. It has an extensive collection of specimens. It is situated within the University of Tokyo campus. It is divided into digital museum and real museum. It's a huge museum with over 2million exhibits. This museum is also a research project of the University and hence the staff are all professors, lectures and graduate students. The museum has very engaging displays with lots of special exhibitions. There are quite a few stuffed animals and fossils. It's quite interesting and informative.

(Translated by Google) First of all, let's have a look at this picture and taste the style of Professor Endo. The intense passion and severity of learning are pleasant to read. It would seem that the exhibition is all the more difficult. No, it was the kindest and most kind of exhibition among the many university museums, art museums and museums. Mr. Endo was Tsundere!

A very kind volunteer volunteered us very carefully, and the grandchildren of elementary school students who like geology and minerals were happy. School food in the basement of Yasuda Auditorium is clean and reasonable, but please be aware that ordinary people can only use one floor from 11:30 to 13:30! A small museum located in the university campus. There’s a little bit of everything, animal bones, human skulls (many of them!), shells, butterflies, chicken, horse and cow specimens, etc. a fun place to explore but don’t expect too much, it’s not a “museum museum”, but more of a laboratory and research center, so just pay respects and don’t disturb their work.

(Translated by Google) I visited only a part of the first floor in a two-hour stay, but there were still a few exhibits that seemed unusual. For example, the skull of a Jomon man with a forged tooth, the eggshell of a mower, and the scaley foot when a new species is certified. The explanation of the exhibits is easy or not, but it is explained in detail in the tablet terminal for rent. The exhibition seemed a little cluttered without a sense of unity, but when asked a question, I received a reply that I would get inspiration beyond the boundaries of the field. It is convinced that it is on campus.

I went there for the purpose of Minera Front, but there was currently a special exhibition on display called ``Wakabayashi Mineral Specimens,'' and I was able to take pictures for free and see many valuable minerals. Sponsored by a glass company, the special exhibition room with a glass floor is a sight to behold. The special exhibition will be on until September 1st, and there will also be a special lecture on mineral specimens on August 26th, so I'd like to go again.
