Nicely managed. Good modern building and facilities. A bit of rush on weekends. The final entrance required us to wear masks and had to go out to buy and come back. The underground that keeps the real mummies does not allow photography and they are very strict about it. The main hall is really great and takes you through a lot of Egyptian history. A must visit place

The best possible museum in Cairo. In a modern building having exhibits of all ages chronologically laid out. The Mummy Gallery is the most important thing to see. The lake outside gives a marvelous view of the surroundings. A must place to visit in Cairo.

A relatively new and very well done museum. The big draw is the new kingdom mummies, which are stunning and well signed. No photos allowed. The rest of the exhibits are full of interest and again, ample info. It's not huge, but worth at least an hour. Good souvenir shop and cafe.

What a marvelous place! Very exciting experience. First of all, it’s so easy to go there. The ticket is for 60 LE for Egyptians and 30 LE for students. The outdoor spaces are amazing, can’t wait for opening the new zones inside and outside the museum which we were told that would be on September,22. I loved the idea of the films playing beside some objects with detailed notes which make you so amazed of the creativity and intelligence of the old civilizations. ( clepsydra film is highly recommended) Tbh I didn’t like the circulation of the main hall as you sometimes miss some objects then get back to them, unlike the mummies hall which has a perfect atmosphere and circulation. There is also a good cafeteria with a great view 😍 Anyway, this museum is so recommended ♥️

We witnessed the Golden Parade last year and finally got to see this place where the mummies are tastefully presented. The Museum is huge and there is even a lake. The largest space is devoted to interesting displays. But the jewel is the area where you can see the mummies. Each mummy has their personal space and individual climate controlled glass enclosures keep them safe. My personal favorite will always be Ramses II. You get to see all Kings , Queens and Pharaohs of Egypt. Except for King Tut. No visit to Cairo would be complete without a visit to this beautiful new museum.

So detailed, so informative, so inspiring. You go back into the earliest times of human civilization and as u walk through the exhibitions, u feel like you're walking alongside the civilization trail. You feel so involved, so immersed, and very exposed. Wonderful structural architecture and good space!!

What a great place to visit. Buying tickets was so easy there was no queue at all. There is a brioche inside for some quick food, entering the main hall was so easy and the place is air conditioned we had a tour inside the hall where you can see items for all eras starting from Pharos time till Coptic Egypt, Islamic Egypt and till Mohamed Sli era, then at the lower level you can see all the mummies which are incredible some of them still have hair and teeth till now, the whole place is hilarious but the most fascinating one was there was an artificial limp which was done in the pharaoh era. I totally recommend this place

It is a good place with a quick summary of different eras in Egyptian history, It is a bit small though, since a can't help but compare it to the old museum in Tahrir. The pieces are displayed with good spacing allowing for people to watch without interfering with people watching other pieces next to it. What really annoyed me during this visit was an electricity issue "as I was told" in the highlight of the visit, "The Royal Mummies Hall" it was too dark, we couldn't see anything. I hope it will be avoided in the future. The overall experience is nice, the staff are fairly professional and welcoming.

Excellent place to visit before heading to the Pyramids. Big samples of mummies can be seen here. Many exhibits telling the history of civilization in Egypt, which is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. The exhibits are more than amazing and the descriptions are very detailed. I strongly recommend it for children and adults alike. The entrance fees are very affordable and there is a great restaurante inside.

This is an exciting museum for the mummies. They are so well preserved and displayed and there are so many of them. No photos allowed, so that those memories with you in your mind. Very cool to see and good info written about them too. Upstairs is a big open space with 3 different sections in the corners. Great artefacts and info signs. There was another section off the main passage which also had interesting things, but it wasn't so obvious, so make sure you look out for that. There are shops for souvenirs and such things and also places to buy food. There are toilets available 🚻 Nice lake and gardens outside to view also.

Not recommended. I visited the museum around midday on 26 March 2019. Unfortunately the museum is open before it is ready. The front yard of the museum is very large and exposed to the sun. There are weeds growing between the pavement stones already. This courtyard is a poor design for the hot sunny north African climate. Perhaps the courtyard represents the desert one crosses walking eastwards from Libya before reaching the relatively cool Nile Valley? I suggest a renovation to install more trees and shaded walkways between the front gate and the building entrance. Fountains and pools? There are no signs to guide tourists entering the building for where to obtain tickets during this early opening period. Eventually I was guided to a room on the right hand side of the building entrance where tickets are sold. There are also a few souvenirs for sale at this same location. This room may later be used as the cafe? I bought a tourist ticket for E£60 to view one gallery. I didn't pay the extra charge for taking photos. During this early opening period, there is only one gallery open. The theme was crafts. I wasn't impressed with poor lighting, and poor interpretation. I saw all exhibits within 15 minutes. Maybe one third of the exhibits were jewelry. There is a much greater quantity of jewelry at the main museum in the city center (also badly interpreted). The museum has toilets for men and women. The male toilet is not properly sign posted. From the outside it looks like a door to an office. The female toilet is properly signposted. The entire place is dusty due to ongoing construction and lack of cleaning. I strongly suggest postponing a visit at least until construction is complete.

Newly opened Museum exploring the history of Egypt. This new Museum is where all of the Mummy's that were moved during the Pharos Golden parade. The lower level has all of the mummy's with a great description of who each are and when they were in power. The upper levels have hundreds of artifacts that are absolutely beautiful. Very well laid out. Grounds work are still on going. Gorgeous lake as a background as well.

Went to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and had an enjoyable visit with family. The core exhibition takes you through the history and civilization of Egypt throughout the different eras whether prehistoric, Greco-Roman, Coptic, Islamic and modern. There is another exhibition displaying ancient Egyptian mummies but no photography is allowed in there. The museum is open from 9 am to 5 pm. Tickets are EGP 60 for adults and EGP 30 for students (Egyptian rates).

It has a very nice collection, but it’s rather small compared to other museums. In just over 2 hours you can go through the whole place in detail which is not a lot. The artifacts are placed in a nice chronological order, so that made for a good experience. And of course, the royal mummies are a must-see!

Enjoyed the visit. It's well organized and got a few interesting pieces. Would've prefered if there was a guide book handed to you or even available to buy before you start your tour. Also, the staff can be a bit aggressive for no apparent reason and shouting instructions at people. Despite all the negatives, I still enjoyed my time there.

The Cafeteria near to entrance operated by La Brioche, very good coffee, tea, soft drinks and fresh juices. Toilets are tiny and clean. Recommended for elderly and youngsters

Definitely an excellent place to visit to see all the history. Amazing to see all the ancient mummy’s and the history behind them. Not sure why tourist pay 240 compared to locals at 60. Lots of history to see and a few of the ancient pharaohs. Good service and friendly helpful staff.

Exploring this new museum was a refreshing experience, situated on expansive grounds. Its educational focus shines through, effectively imparting knowledge about Egypt and its rich history, with a captivating display of significant artifacts. The cleanliness and meticulous maintenance added to the overall appeal. The mummies section was a highlight, featuring diverse Pharaohs and rulers alongside their mummified remains. The presence of a lake added a serene touch to the visit, making it a well-rounded experience. Additionally, the museum boasts a fantastic cafe and a souvenir store, providing a delightful conclusion to the visit. A trip to this museum promises not to disappoint, offering a blend of education, history, and enjoyable amenities.

Oh my. The mummy exhibit was so amazing. Soo many mummy in very good condition figuring the time that's passed. History behind all of them. (no photos allowed in mummy exhibit) Upper level has lots of art and statues. It was cool, but I feel the star of this museum was the mummies. A small coffee shop and a gift shop. Outside there a cool walkway towards a lake

It's a very cool museum to visit especially with family. It's a nice place to spend half a day, very organized, nice views, great exhibits to see. It's the only museum I've been to that displays mummies outside their sarcophagi, not sure if there are others. It's certainly the only place where you can see these particularly well known kings and queens. There are also exhibits from all periods of Egyptian history. The whole visit is easy and nice start to finish, I'd say it's a one hour visit, two at most.

Located in Old Cairo, NMEC is designed to trace the long history of Egypt from the prehistoric period until today. This is not an easy task, as the Egyptian history is incredibly rich. The museum exhibits relevant artifacts from all the historical periods succeeded over Egypt, starting with the Early Pharaohs Dynastic Period to the Ptolemaic Period, continuing with Roman, Byzantine and Islamic Periods, until nowadays. The collection include art pieces from Coptic churches, as well as from Abbasid, Fatimid and Mameluke mosques, displayed in a modern way and with clear descriptions in Arabic and English. The main attraction is, without any doubt, the collection of royal mummies. They are exhibited underground in halls that give visitors the feeling of exploring the mortuary chambers of the Great Pyramids. It’s probably one of the most impressive museums in the world.

Very organized and seeing the real mummies who made our history was so inspiring, there is a private parking for the museum for 30 EGP per car and the entrance ticket for Egyptians is 60 EGP. The only thing i can recommend to make it a better place is an app and QR code for each monument to know more info. The overall visit was amazing ... But i think once in a life time is enough, but a must.

Pretty good. Mummies are best part but no photos allowed of them. Only main hall was also open, which was a nice walk through Egyptian history. We spent 4 hours there. I think there could have been more on display, but if you take the time to read the posted boards it is enough.

A well-managed museum. A variety of historical figures with valuable facts on Egyptian history which goes back to thousands of years. Photography is forbidden inside The Royal Mummies Hall. Needs more content. Tickets available till 4 pm. A face mask is a must. There are gift shops and a coffee shop inside.

A very fascinating experience! Top floor allows you to see artifacts from the earlier years through to modern. There is a lower level that contains the Mummies and while it’s a bit creepy to be up close with preserved bodies, it is indeed quite a unique experience. While there is text to accompany the artifacts, would say they’re very minimal so if you’re able to get a guide, you may get more out of the visit. Time to allocate for visit: approx 2 hours

So so much history in this place. A very very new museum and well constructed. The basement shows a chronological order of the mummies they have found & preserved. Very very well maintained (unfortunately no photography allowed). On the ground floor where the main hall stands is another chronological order of ages. Well presented. There are staff there to guide you & explain further by paying a small fee. The East Side of the building overlooks a big beautiful lake & behind it old buildings.

Good to visit this place before one heads to the Giza Pyramids. The sample of mummies that were in the pyramids can be seen here. The place was awesome with modern architecture and the centuries old mummies. The exhibits tell the history of civilization in Egypt, one of the oldest civilizations which has some left overs from the originals. The exhibits were amazing with detailed descriptions that generate interest among visitors. It shows the stages of technological advancements and development of new and strong materials that were used by then humans and how these exhibits improved in their finish and outlook.

Egyptian civilization is one of the oldest recorded civilizations and integral part in knowing the history. This museum is a historic marvel, the ambience and grandness it provides right from the entrance makes you feel more curious to explore the things out there. Mummies are well preserved and brief history is well written in the timeline. This place must be visited if you are in Egypt. History comes alive here!

Visiting the National Museum made me an extremely proud Egyptian. Not only actually seeing our kings and queens "mummies" which is a great honor, but also learning about them and about their life and family tree! You will see all ancient tools, jewelry, furniture, and much more. I am proud to be an Egyptian with such a great loaded history! Must visit, you don't want to miss that place!

The collection and facilities are pretty amazing, but there are some glitches with the touchscreens—you can’t scroll to read the full text on any of the kiosks? Isn’t this a world-class institution? Bizarre. In the underground mummy exhibit people were leaning all over the glass and being loud—a good sign that the exhibit is so active but also made it claustrophobic to be in. It’s also strange to see crowds have no respect for dead bodies? One guy was standing playing games on his phone with the volume up? Why are you even here? The museum closes at 5, so naturally most people exit at 5. This is when they go to the gift shop and cafe, eager to spend money, and in most places these would stay open until 6 or 7. Instead, by 4:45, the gift shop was calling itself closed. The cafe had no prices or labels listed and the staff was incredibly rude. Once outside security won’t even let you explore the landscaped walkways. This is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. People come here from thousands of miles away, from all different cultures. For many it’s a once-in-a -lifetime trip. You would think there would be some hospitality toward the tourists, or better design which actually encourages shopping and exploring, especially in the later hours of the day once the sun recedes. The experience at the end really soured the visit and this is unfortunately common for Cairo so far.

The national museum of Egyptian civilization متحف الحضاره, the museum covered different eras in Egypt, starting the pharaohs ancient Egypt to King Farouk Era 🥰. We stayed for two hours and went to every exhibit. The ticket price for international visitors is 240 Egyptian Pounds (around 7.8$). The exhibition was great in every way, the statues, the jewelry, the displayed tools of farming and surgery, the mummies. It was a little bit crowded but worth it. We went to the mummy sections and it was very small and dark (protect the mummies), no pictures or use of camera were allow 📸. Me and my mom got little bit claustrophobic and the space should’ve been wider to host people from around the world 🌍. The staff were very supportive and helpful but some in the mummy section were stress out because people kept touch the glass. The staff in the gift shop were lovely and help 🥰, make sure you ask for “Ann”. Please like if I helped 🌺🙏🏼🇪🇬

I recently had the opportunity to visit the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, and it was a captivating experience that offered a unique perspective on Egypt's rich history. While the museum has its strengths, there were a few limitations worth noting. One of the standout features of the museum was undoubtedly the section dedicated to the royal mummies. It provided a rare and fascinating glimpse into the lives of ancient Egyptian royalty. The mummies, carefully preserved over thousands of years, offered a haunting yet intriguing connection to a bygone era. The attention to detail and the historical significance of this exhibit made it a true highlight of the museum. However, one aspect that I found somewhat lacking was the number of artifacts from the old Egyptian civilization. Given Egypt's vast and illustrious history, I had expected a more comprehensive collection of relics and artifacts. While the museum did house numerous exhibits spanning different periods, there seemed to be a noticeable emphasis on later eras in Egyptian history. Nonetheless, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization still provided valuable insights into Egypt's cultural heritage. The modern and well-organized displays, along with informative signage, made it a relatively accessible and educational experience. The architecture of the museum itself was also striking, blending modern design with elements inspired by ancient Egypt. In conclusion, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is undoubtedly a valuable addition to Cairo's cultural landscape. The section featuring royal mummies is a remarkable and must-see attraction for anyone interested in Egyptology. However, the museum's focus on more recent periods of Egyptian history might leave enthusiasts of the older civilizations longing for a more extensive collection. Nonetheless, it remains a captivating destination that sheds light on the enduring legacy of Egypt's ancient civilization.

Very educational. Went with the family. There is no parking at the front and painful security checks, especially with children. Once through the main gates, we proceeded to go to purchase tickets, which was pretty simple. The museum is over 2 floors and 4 different sections. (1 section was closed for renovation). The main floor, basement (where mummy's are kept), and textiles. The 4th unable to get the name as closed. The main floor took approx 2 hours to view every piece on display. The mummy section took 40 mins (which was actually rushed). And textiles approx 30 mins (also rushed). To actually have a full experience I would recommend 3.5hours to 4.5 hours. Overall, much to view and will be overwhelming for small children, but very educational.

Get there early. I arrived right when they opened at 9 am. As I was leaving at about 11 am, hordes of people were arriving. Also, there's no photography in the hall of mummies. Don't let that stop you from going in, though! It's a great exhibit. The design makes it feel like you're in a tomb yourself. They have temporary exhibits on ancient Egyptian cuisine and traditional Egyptian textiles right now. Both are worth a visit, and you can get in with your general admission ticket.

Amazing experience in the museum, specially the mummies exhibitions! Great descriptions and the glass isn't reflecting which is definitely a very important detail in museums, would very likely visit again. Just the security need to believe us that we are art students after seeing the id card 😂. No photography allowed in the mummies section, other is okay . .

What an amazing museum! After seeing the sad state of affairs at the national museum in Tahrir, it is a splendid surprise to see the care and attention put into displaying the exquisite artifacts. The building itself is architecturally awesome and it is a great place for children to learn About their heritage as well as a great addition to Egypt’s rich antiquity tourism attractions. This museum is on par with other international standards, the mummies are all displayed with accompanying information And the management is knowledgeable.

Great exhibits, specially the mummies. Covid safe as personnel are making sure visitors are wearing masks during the whole visit. The musuem is split on 2 floors: main floor for various historical eras exhibits: pharonic, roman.. Etc. Underground floor for mummies. There is a nice cafteria, and a small but beautiful gift shop with good varieties and prices. The museum is located on the a beautiful lake. Lake isnt accessible yet but the view is still great. You can take photos freely in the main floor using your mobile, cameras require special ticket. No photos allowed in the mummies floor There are free lockers, no bags allowed inside.

A really amazing museum. It’s extremely concise and has truly significant exhibits. There are 20 mummies of pharaohs of Egypt. There are ancient examples of the Coptic Bible, the Holy Koran, and the Torah all from recent Egyptian history. Traditionally the clothing for the Kaaba is/was produced in Egypt and an example of this material is on display. There are examples of abaya from several regions of Egypt - I especially enjoyed the abaya from the Sinai region. With regard to Egyptian artifacts there are a complete set of Masonic tools. We found the display of ancient Egyptian cosmetics and medical tools very interesting as they were so similar to modern arraignments and packaging. It was very interesting to see the depictions of the ordinary lives of ancient Egyptians that is so often missing from tombs and temples. Museum was not very crowded and there was no wait to enter. There is a cloak room that will hold your bag. Guides are not allowed to enter the mummy exhibit for some reason but the descriptions of the mummies and their earthly exploits are well documented on the displays. This museum is a must see.

This relatively new Museum is certainly worth the visit. The Mummies underground hallway is absolutely amazing, with lots of information well demonstrated either on signboards or through the x-ray display boards. Small (compared to the rest of Cairo Museums), well organised and labelled. Must see!

Good for quick tour of the Egyptian heritage. Initially, I thought the museum would be bigger and full of artefacts from each era, but it only has samples. The main attraction for many people is the mummies on display. Also, why are they keeping many areas closed, particularly the outdoor one?

The museum shows aspects of the Egyptian civilization since prehistoric era till modern times. There's also the famous hall of the royal mummies which has mummies of several ancient Egyptian kings and queens . Just a small note: Youre not allowed to take photos inside the mummies hall. You can take photos anywhere else in the museum though. There's a place in the museum with special activities for kids (it is separate from the museum with different tickets) but we didn't go there. There are some shops for souvenirs. And cafés. There are toilets ,resting areas and the car parking area is good and convenient. We really enjoyed our time there.

A new open concept museum that traces the history of civilization on the main floor and houses the royal mommies on the bottom floor. I thought more information or visuals could have provided for the mummies and surprised that information plaques are only in Arabic and English in this day and age…easy to incorporate other languages like Spanish and French to be more inclusive! The grounds are massive and one questions the use of space when housing nearby is so crowded?

Fantastic museum showcasing the royal mummies. I saw them in the old museum in 2019, but they are much better presented here. Aside from the mummies there is an excellent room on fabrics (this is on the left before you go through the barriers into the main hall) that features 4000 year old garments right up to more modern fabrics. The main room contains hundreds of objects covering prehistory up to the modern era. Don't miss the huge statue of Akhenaten or the golden coffin. A great museum.

(Translated by Google) The idea of establishing a museum for Islamic art and antiquities began in the era of Khedive “Ismail” in 1869, and the idea was implemented in the era of Khedive Tawfiq in 1880, when Frantz Pasha collected the archaeological artifacts dating back to the Islamic era in the eastern iwan of the Al Hakim Mosque. The number of collected archaeological artifacts is 111, and a small building was subsequently built in the courtyard of the Al-Hakim Mosque called the "Arab Museum" under the administration of Frantzpasha, who left the service in 1892. The current museum building was inaugurated during the reign of Khedive Abbas Helmy II on December 28, 1903. Then, in 1951, the name of the house was changed to the "Museum of Islamic Art." [2] Description of the museumedit The museum has two entrances, one on the northeastern side and the other on the southeast side, which is in use now. The façade of the museum, overlooking Port Said Street, is distinguished by its Islamic decorations inspired by the Islamic architecture in Egypt in its different eras. The museum consists of two floors; The first contains the exhibition halls, the second contains the warehouses and a basement used as a store and the restoration department. The museum contains many archaeological holdings dating back to the Islamic era, which number up to one hundred thousand antique masterpieces [3] (Original)

You can get your ticket on spot. The museum walks you through the unique journey of Egyptian civilization, with the greatest corner for the Royal Mummies. I absolutely recommend you to visit. At each corner, you'll find explanations in both English and in Arabic.

(Translated by Google) The topic is not just a museum that you enter, watch, and salvation Rather, this is a journey that you will take in the history of Egypt From the era of the pharaohs through the rest of the cultures and civilizations that returned to Egypt. Technology has a big role in the museum, such as video displays and touch tablets And ways to communicate with the tour guides through headphones in the ear without disturbing and dazzling And the prices are excellent 60 for the citizen and 30 for the student.. means within reach It was a fun trip and I would like to try it again because it deserves it 😍😍😍 (Original)

A perfect place to spend the weekend if you want to. And it's a very enriching museum. Labels are put everywhere describing what you're looking at. The mummies section is so mesmerizing that to have to see it yourself.

NMEC exhibits several objects intended to educate the visitor about the Egyptian civilization across various key historical phases, starting with the Predynastic and Ancient Egyptian periods, and continuing across the Graeco-Roman, Coptic, Islamic and contemporary modern times. NMEC is located at the heart of Al-Fustat, the ancient Islamic capital of Egypt, and is surrounded by several religious complexes. A World Prescription Exhibition, A complete and accurate description of all the contents of the exhibit. It has 14 mummy’s 🤕 A very sophisticated level and a very special conversation You will not feel the time walking around in the museum . Nice and wonderful journey full recommendation

Such a wonderful experience. It’s refreshing to see how well organised and displayed everything is in comparison to the Egyptian Museum in Qasr El Nil. The top floor houses artifacts from various time periods of Egyptian civilisation (old and new). The lower floor has a collection of mummies in glass boxes with detailed descriptions of their lives. The collection of artifacts itself is incredible. You get to see prehistoric, Pharaoh Dynastic, Roman, Coptic, and Islamic era in a chronological order. You truly leave after two hours with a glimpse of thousands of years of civilisation. Parts of the museum were not open such as the lake area and some of the outdoor spots. You have to find a time to go where it wouldn’t be busy because some people were irresponsible and walking around with no face mask. However, the staff was always on top of that issue and constantly asked people to cover their faces with their masks. I wished that there was some sort of guide book or something of that sort because it can feel overwhelming when you’re trying to absorb everything. Despite that, it’s worth the visit for sure. You’ll absolutely enjoy your time.

This is a new museum (opened in late 2021) and showcases Egyptian history from the Old Kingdom. All the collections are on two levels, the upper level is open and wide, displaying a various selection of artifacts that demonstrate the development of Egyptian civilization from the era of the pharos to modern Egypt. On the lower level you can see the mummies encased in a glass box with some information on who they are. We went in the morning to escape tour groups but unfortunately it was still very busy with lots of school groups visiting the museum. The place is in the middle of nowhere in old Cairo but close enough to the Citadel and Khan al-Khalili Bazaar (about 15 mins each way.) You can't take pictures of the royal mummies in the ground level, but in the upper level you are able to take pictures with your cellphone. However, if you have a DSLR or a mirrorless Camera you have to pay a 50 EGP. Entrance fees are 200 EGP if you are a foreigner. I had no problem getting an Uber to drop me off and pick me up and data connection seemed fine (local Vodafone SIM Card.) Although the museum is fairly new it felt a bit rundown, and unfortunately the lake was closed off to the public when we visited. We stayed for around two hours. There's a lot of history here worth understanding and seeing.

I took a local friend that had never been there before and knew nothing about the museum! It was a great experience, even for them who didn't have any interest in Egyptian history. Absolutely loved all the work and effort that has went into it all and so happy to see the mummies taken care of so well.

New building. Very nice modern architecture and grounds. The curated displays are kept simple, uncluttered yet informative. Highlight was the movable contents of the tomb of Sennedjem from Deir el-Medina, a splendidly decorated tomb which we had previously visited when up in Luxor. And of course the dynastic family of pharohs from the 18th (I believe) dynasty, presented with respect and gravitas.

Many items have moved to the new museum, but plenty of worthwhile items to view. Signage not so great. King Tut's face mask and throne are magnificent. As are the mummies of his grandparents. Many animal mummies on display.

Although the space is small when compared to the old known Egyptian Museum, but you can enjoy great pieces of art from the pharaonic, roman, Islamic, coptic era, even the contemporary art is represented by a statue of the well known Mahmoud Mokhtar. The architect of the museum is great, located in front of Ein El Sera Lake, which is such a capturing view, sure you will enjoy time spent in this museum

While the museum is organized in a much modern way than its predecessor in downtown, most of the exhibits are closed as pieces are being relocated to the grand museum expected to be open late 2022. Still worth a visit to see famous mummies (no pictures inside the mummy zone)

Amazing. The entry price is extremely affordable and the costumer service is wonderful. There are descriptions about pretty much everything and they get into details about each item. the glass showing the items are spotless and the lighting is perfect. it is a disappointment that it closes at 5pm.

  • 4/5 Christine H. 1 year ago on Google
Small but quite nicely organized to show a variety of ancient exhibits. Also referred to as "The Mummy museum", probably due to the number of real mummies, all of which have plaques to explain the life of the mummy in several languages. Staff are strict but friendly, and they take safety seriously. The only disappointment was the gift shop. Very limited in inventory, extremely high prices, curt staff.

One of the most beautiful and detailed museums in the world. Very interesting and they did great job utilizing new technology like lighting and advanced LD screens. Friendly for kids and families. They have a kids activity for one hour and you can drop your kids while touring the museum.

Really nicely set up with some of the most important pharohs, mummies and artefacts. There's a really nice cafe with views of the citadel. There's still more construction to be made but really great experience. Kids have an hour and half activities down stairs at an additional cost.

Very modern and clean. They offer earphones for visitors who coming with tour guides so we can still hear the voice of our guide clearly without disturbing other visitors. The mummies are on the ground level and not allowed to take any pic/vid

I'd recommend buying the tickets online in advance to avoid waiting in lines while watching the security pick and choose tourists from the line to get them inside with golf carts while others wait in line. Also arrive before 3pm cause it'll take time and they start clearing the hall around 4:45pm. However the staff inside are very very helpful and so welcoming, my phone died and one of them helped me charge it. Another greeted me as he saw me the night before. The museum is still under expansion, the main hall is stunning with so many iconic pieces from different ages and periods of Egypt. Don't forget to check the textile exhibition, it's so unique and very beautiful. The gift shop could use a custom partition to sell post cards and replicas of pieces that are actually in the museum, not just generic popular pieces.

NMEC is a great place to visit. Mummy hall is such an amazing lot of well preserved mummies. You can view the complete Egyptian civilization under one roof. Pharaoh, Roman, Coptic and Islamic. Good for kids too.

Recently my family I visited this Museum. Such a great experience although take some type of fan with you and water as there's no shops inside as its very hot and there's not air conditioning. It was like walking in a sauna and that's no exaggeration. Well worth a visit though.

The place is full with real artifacts of ancient civilization. Royal Mummies contain huge collection of mummies, including Ramses (many versions). I recommend this place to visit. The management needs to be more active. But overall it was good.

A modern museum holding from ancient Egyptian history to their civilization. There is an inside place where you can see the "real mummies" and their coffins. Taking a picture is allowed in the museum but not allowed after entering to this special mummies displaying place. It is highly recommended to go there with a professional tour guide which you can find him/her from a tour company. Otherwise, you might misunderstanding of their amazing history. The place is worth visiting.

Wow, what an amazing collection. Bucket list stuff. Some of the most amazing artifacts. Textile exhibit is breathtaking. Take your time and really appreciate the time and care they put into everything. Such amazing people who did amazing things. Gift shop has a good selection of Egyptian made items. I would like to see more replicas of museum artifacts. Overall a must see for any Egyptology fan!!
