Here’s the deal: the food is amazing and quick, service friendly, atmosphere cute and cozy. Beyond that, this is an Egyptian woman doing homemade food from a market that is available during a specific time. Anyone complaining about prices or running out of an item doesn’t really get it. Stop reading reviews and just go. It’s a great experience and you won’t be disappointed. And you’re supporting something really cool.

The food was good but the service is not good and the portions are too small. We experienced a bad experience in the restaurant yesterday. We were 3 people, we asked for many things because we wanted to try and also we were hungry and suddenly the woman who is cooking came to us saying that what you ordered is so much try to reduce some and you will pay a lot of money. It was weird but we said ok we will reduce some things and then we got surprised that the food is not enough and very small portions so we were still angry and when we asked to order more food they said no you cannot order more! It was a very disappointing and disrespectful reaction from them and they didn’t say sorry even. The waiting is too long too to enter the restaurant

A cute, little restaurant in downtown that serves authentic Egyptian Cuisine. They open from 5 pm to 7 pm with a different menu everyday that is announced the night before or early on same day. The food is very tasty without being too heavy and often has interesting twists. The portions are very generious. We paid 480LE for 5 dishes plus a soup and a salad which is more than reasonable compared to the market. Somaya and her staff are very friendly and the place is super homey. Try to go at 5pm maximum so you can enter with the first batch of people and keep in mind that they make a limited quantity of food that they serve until 7 or until they run out. As an Egyptian, this is definitely one of my favorite restaurants for Egyptian cuisine.

Freshly home cooked meal, cozy atmosphere, somaya and her staff give this place a unique feeling with their warm energy. Food is delicious and served very fast, prices are moderate. Had a great time there and I would definitely be going back again. The only downside to this place is that it has no bathroom.

You can feel the positive vibes; Somaya's energy as soon as you walk in the place. The food is cooked with love, and there's no wait time for the food to be served.

This review is from my visit in December 2019. Fasahet Somaya is one of the reasons I travel. I always search blogs on local food and things to try when I travel and I found out about this place. I went on a Friday so the hours were different (19:00-21:00). I knew to arrive early in order to be seated and have food available. I arrived about 45 minutes early to make sure I found the place and explore the neighbored . The menu is in Arabic so I had no idea what I would be eating. The available dishes were explained to me. I ordered the pigeon stuffed with rice, a soup, salad, and a meat filled pastry. I was lucky enough to have a local sit at the table with me and he explained what condiments go with each dish and even gave me one of his stuffed sausages to try. Unfortunately I lost my notes on the name and description of each dish. Everything was excellent and something you couldn’t get at a tourist restaurant. It was a slow night so I was able to order a second main dish, the beef with chocolate. Now there are things to know about Fasahet Somaya. 1) Come early to get a seat, the place only seats about 20 people. 2) Food is cooked fresh daily and the menu is always different. No leftovers so they want to run out of dishes by the end of the night so expect that if you come later. 3) You must eat EVERYTHING on your plate. I ate most of the beef chocolate but it was a bit chewy so I asked for the check and was told I couldn’t leave until I finished it, so I did. Overall a great experience you should try.

Fasahet is the place where guests are received. Fasahet Somaya specializes in Egyptian cuisine. It is a small restaurant with a special character and a unique bohemian design, serving a selection of authentic specialties such as koshary, molokhia, and tamiya (falafel). It is considered the first restaurant to offer home-style food in the heart of Cairo. The menu offers something new, depending on the ingredients found available during daily morning shopping. The restaurant is run by Somaya Al-Asyoty, an Egyptian woman who has mastered the arts of homemade food.

I'll start with management and staff as they're the stars behind this successful hidden gem.. Somaya is such a friendly, outgoing auntie type, the moment you spark a conversation with her she will immediately make you feel like a family member.. and the rest of the staff are equally amazing as well.. As for the food, well it's the same good quality every single time, REAL home cooked food prepared daily, every day a new selection and delicious taste everytime..!! Good portions too, you will always leave with a full stomach 👌. Please call ahead to check food availability, as they prepare daily portions of dishes and they do run out by end of day, keep in mind that this is super good as there will not be any left over to be served the next day ...

Home cooked market fresh meals! You won’t be disappointed. Skip places like Felfela (for the tourists) and spend your money here instead. Go early at 17h because when the food is gone, the restaurant closes. Absolutely worth it. We got everything that was on the menu and it was delicious.

One of the best traditional home-cooked food restaurants. Somaya and the other waitresses are very friendly, professional and hosting. We enjoyed every moment. They have only 4 tables and work from 5pm to 7pm (Saturday is off) Very clean and reasonably priced. Enjoy it..

The best home made food that I eat in Cairo. The place has and excellent service, tasty food and friendly environment. I tried the Moroccan chicken and Rokak and both where excellent. You just need to be there on time because the dishes are finishing fast. An excellent experience and very much worth it and the prices are very good too.

So glad that I stumbled across this place and decided to give it a try… the “beef with chocolate sauce” was simply one of the best food I’ve tried in Cairo - tender, perfectly braised beef served with flavor-packed chocolate sauce. The rice was perfectly seasoned as well.

Beautiful food, lovingly prepared and served. If you want to sample some proper Egyptian home cooking, then this is the place for you. All the dishes that I have tried were delicious. The place is simple but clean and peaceful and offers something different every day. The prices are extremely reasonable and the portions fine. I am unable to comment on the toilet facilities as I did not use them. They do have a Facebook page and you can contact them earlier in the day if you wish to have a takeaway. They will cook your food in addition and separate, as the food they will normally prepare, will be purely for customers that eat in. I hope that makes sense. Highly recommended. We will return here.

I loved fasahet somaya so much, but I’m giving the place 4 stars not 5 because the prices are a little bit high comparing to other places. The food quality is so good we order (pigeons, molokhya, roqaq and shea’arya) all were good and perfectly made. The place is clean, cozy and calm. The serving food hours are from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm only. Every day is a new menu of limited items to order from.

Excellent food, nice place, great service. Pigeon, house salad, moussaka, beef stew, chicken blanquette, rice with mastic or vermicelli. Feeling lucky that such a place exists. If only Cairo had other similar spots!

If you are in Cairo, getting dinner at Fasahet Somaya's is a must! Everyday the menu is different because the owner uses the most fresh local ingredients. The food is heavenly!! You will experience the best Egyptian cuisine there is! For foreigners looking for true Egyptian experiences, look no further than Fasahet Somaya's! Eating here is like getting your favorite home cooked meal from your grandmother or favorite auntie. Fasahet Somaya's is a favorite with the locals for good reason; you will experience Egyptian culture and the best cuisine Egypt has to offer here more than at any other restaurant in town. Nearly every new customer who came in while we were there knew the owner/chef personally and my friend who is from Cairo said it is because the locals have been coming here for years. It is a true local gem! Be sure to arrive right at 5pm when they open or be prepared to wait. If you don't get here early, the wait is more than worth it!! Although have a care, once they run out of food that is it for the night.

(Translated by Google) Eating from toxicity Who would say "eating" or "eating" from somewhere? It is not "personal"; It remains O either Magrbash originally eating the righteousness of his family's home; Or it is just for me, And he lays down himself. "Eating" is a very personal topic As long as we agree on this point, It remains useful to say that when you go to a restaurant, Who will get you back again? It will not be the quality of the food that is served to you. Because in the end, if its people block the soul, God, how old are you? Not just that Also, you will often tell him about your friends and warn them about his experience because his people are disgusted and block the soul; And you will tell them the facts, for sure, that you will not wear them. The important.. "Somaya space" remained; For me; And for many brown people, Adamin Giri; A very personal matter. You are not going to eat, just walk! You will feel that you are in a friendly "house near" of your relatives. It has a real human - not plastic - in dealing with all those who eat within them; Know him personally; Or what they don't know. The atmosphere of the place is simple, and gentle in a very comfortable way for the psychological one who hates flashing, and the breakfast in any and every need. Eating left: You will eat Egyptian food like the book said. Eat my house hard not talking about ads. Also, from time to time, you will try new foods for you. It works as an invention of "toxicity", because it is often the one that has undergone new developments, as long as there is no thought of making her costume before that. The fact that you eat from the hands of the people of Adam Deals with the topic of cooking; To present to its guests an artistic or artistic marrow presentation This always leaves me impressive, warm and beautiful. What does this mean? Somaya means to work every day a new menu; For this day only. She cooks and picks at her convenience with her beautiful workgroup. It means eating eaten in the mood of food. Naturally, it will not be more nutritious than that. You keep talking that all the ingredients in your food are purified in one with the hands of their beautiful chef; You can imagine the beauty and sincerity of the outcome. There is no time for you to eat. Or take away your food by virtue of the immediate circumstance; Otherwise, you will be very cheerful, and fly with him; Also, if I was like this, Eating this can take you from an unpleasant depression. For a state of psychological comfort and great satisfaction; The smart will reveal it from your friends from just your voice in a passing call. I, I praise our Lord for the blessing of take away currently available I just hope that Zaffa Corona will be removed from us; We can come back and sit in the place again like time, and we enjoy its old-fashioned, never-disappointed, and well-adjusted Muzakita.

The food was good with a typical Egyptian homemade taste. Service staff were welcoming with a limited professionalism. No restroom, only sink to wash hands. It’s limited seating, so be there on or before opening time (5pm) as they operate for only two hours. The food is limited too, so expect not to get an item that’s already listed. AC was not working properly, which is necessary in a basement like place. On Facebook page, the menu is posted for the day and the following day without prices. The menu of the day is posted on blackboard at the entrance of the restaurant without prices. Entrees are pricey so check item’s price before ordering to avoid budget discomfort. The business model in my opinion is not an efficient one. It’s good to start your business and continue doing the same things but one may need to improve things in proactive ways from the customer’s feedback and perception.
