So beautiful, historical location. The Abu Al-Futuh Gate, part of Cairo's ancient city walls, is a portal to history. Standing since the 11th century, it's a marvel of Islamic architecture. Adorned with intricate carvings, the gate reflects the cultural richness of its era. Passing through, one is transported to a time when Cairo was a hub of knowledge and power. The gate's endurance through centuries is a testament to the city's resilience. As sunlight filters through its arches, it whispers tales of conquests and civilizations. Abu Al-Futuh Gate is not merely a structure; it's a living artifact connecting the present to the grand tapestry of Cairo's past.

Bab al Futuh is one of three remaining gates in the walls of the islamic part of the old city of Cairo. It stands in the north part of islamic Cairo, at the northern end of Muizz Street. The gate has a single gate for entry, flanked by two massive rounded towers that would’ve looked impregnable in medieval times. The gate is remarkably well preserved and still decorated with vegetal and geometric motifs. Worth a quick look if in islamic Cairo, but I wouldn't go out of the way to see it.

One of the beautiful historical mosque. Very clean and maintained well. Old Egypt city was covered by the wall which is still there. Keep a bag for your shoe storage to carry with you or give some sadaqa money to shoe keeper. I would strongly advise you to have guide to learn more about history to make your visit more beneficial.

Very beautiful gate from the Fatimid Era in Islamic Cairo, the gate is in great shape compared to its age and it’s the start to the Al Moez Street and the other attractions to Islamic Cairo, but be careful it’s extremely busy in Eid times right now.

A walk like no other! A must do. Walk all the way Till the end. Make sure you stop at every corner. Have local coffee at the brewery, go to bait a seheimy and see how the hidden architecture started. Walk all the way to khan Khatoun and have real Egyptian food not the touristy stuff

Very beautiful place. Architectural history dating back to the 10th century with mix of various eras constructions in each building made it an invaluable visit. It might not be a must see place if one is not interested in architecture or Islamic period of Egyptian history i-e Fatimids, Ayuubids, and Mamluks.

Best to visit at night away from the daytime crowds, although still crowded but much less and the nightlights give it a lot more charm. Wouldn’t recommend shopping there at anytime though unless you are a master of haggling (not me).

One of the most beautiful heritage structures in Old Cairo, still standing after more than 1000 years, almost intact in all its glory. We feel like we walk back in time!!

Great vibes; walking there is like walking in the shoes of history, Hat; sinkers; women scarf and bottle of water are needed. Entrance fees for sites are affordable.

Bab al-futuh is a historical landmark that dates back to the 10th century, and it is one of the three main gates that lead to the old city of Cairo. The gate is a massive structure with a large archway and intricate decorations that reflect the Islamic architectural style. Visitors can climb up the gate's towers to get a panoramic view of the city, and they can also explore the surrounding area, which is filled with traditional markets and historic buildings. Overall, Bab al-futuh is a must-see destination for history and architecture enthusiasts visiting Cairo.

A large medieval city gate that leads directly to the Al Mu'izz street. An imposing fortification that's worth taking a look at. The walls extending to right and left are restored and lend further charm to the old city.

It was a bit challenging to rate this historical fortress. Eventually I decided to give it 4 stars because of its historical architecture and old items I found in some shops. The traditional coffee shops make very nice tea and Tukish coffee. For tourists who don't know about local drinks, you might want to try "Sahlab". It consists of Orchid plant powder with sugar and milk. Some places add Glucose and some Nuts. It has a distinguished taste. Two major downsides in this place: 1. You have to be in high alert because of robbers. If somebody touched you by mistake and he wants to apologise, don't do that.. just waive to him and continue your walk. Otherwise you'll discover something wad stolen from you. 2. Motorcyclers are driving reckless!! Whenever they are driving towards you, you better make your maneouver and avoid them or you might find yourself laying on the ground with serious injuries.
