I wanted to love this place. We had the biggest room with a loft area, it felt like a cozy ski lodge with a view of the water. The pool was open, golf, pingpong table, and free breakfast (very basic but better than no free breakfast, eggs were tasty). Service was also friendly. Unfortunately, the rooms are DIRTY. It looks like nothing has ever been cleaned under or behind - wrappers, half empty water/Gatorade bottles, cups, candies, crayons, champagne cork, and a couple kids toys we're under the beds and couches. Corners all had a buildup of dust and hair. Many walls were visibly dirty with splashes, etc. Kitchen drawers had lots of crumbs. The smell when you walk in the room is that of musty, old, not-so-clean carpet. The only exception was the beds and pillows, which I thoroughly inspected. They were all clean and actually quite comfortable. Towels were also clean. We honestly almost left, not even caring about losing the money because if a place can't even clean the GARBAGE under the beds and couch, how dirty is everything else. Alas, we were too tired after travelling all day so I settled on sanitizing everything I could, spraying the couch down, and trying to not think about it. Ramada, you should be ashamed.

I really really wish I had read some of these other reviews. If I had, I really wouldn’t have booked the Ramada because all the other reviews are incredibly accurate. First of all, I have to say the breakfast was quite good and had quite a wide range of typical breakfast items. HOWEVER, there was really only oatmeal for my lactose and egg intolerant husband, which really sucked for him. The cutlery used was plastic, and nothing gets recycled which in my opinion is horrible hotel management, and makes the Ramada look really bad. The room had recycle bins but I sincerely doubt anything actually gets recycled. The plastic usage at breakfast was painful. The rooms were pretty bad, the website states Queen mattresses but they are definitely only doubles, because we regularly sleep on a queen and this was significantly smaller for myself and my toddler. There was mold in the bathroom and I accidentally looked down the drain and saw every single person who’s ever stayed in the room’s hair. The linen and bed are clean but after the second night, we realized that the duvet had no cover, only two flat sheets; one under the duvet and one over it. Which, if you think about it, Is really really revolting. My toddler definitely kicked the sheet about, so, once again, I have been very intimate with every single person who’s ever stayed in this room. Last of all, and definitely the most disappointing of all, was that the pool was closed. We came to Campbell river with our two year old and we booked the Ramada purely for the pool. Like, no exaggeration, we wanted to swim all weekend with our two year old. They told us upon check-in and my face was a look of pure disappointment. I did nothing to hide this. It seems after reading reviews that the pool closing is something that occurs often so I HIGHLY recommend calling to see if the pool is open if you, too, are looking forward to the pool and hot tub. All in all, if anyone ever asks for Campbell river recommendations, I’d highly recommend not going to the Ramada. Happy to speak with the manager if they have a rebuttal.

The worst Ramada I've ever stayed in. An absolute dump! I should know, I paid for seven nights and every night I regretted my choice. Take a look at the photos, this demonstrates what we had to live with to try and make the heat bearable. Why so hot, the beds are located in a loft. All the heat collects up in the sleeping space, and little portable fans do absolutely nothing to cool things down. We had to sleep on top of the sheets in our underwear. Get used to sweating all night! The hotel staff refused to fix the AC. The first two days I asked three different staff if someone could fix it, only to be told that none of the AC works in the hotel. Bizarrely, when challenged that my friend two room doors down had AC, the staff members refused to acknowledge it as real. When I told them his room number, they still claimed that none of the rooms had AC. Talking to other guests, some had AC, some didn't. The ones that didn't were told nobody in the hotel had AC. This meant our patio door had to stay open all night long. So we got to enjoy adjoining rooms smoking on their balconies, which meant that as non-smokers we got stuck with second-hand smoke everyday and throughout the night. Other guests drinking and swearing on their patios, they might as well be doing it right inside your open doored room. Further, the hotel faces onto a busy highway, so all day and all night you get smashed with traffic noise. Half of the wall sockets don't work. The breakfast is mediocre at best. The staff aren't empowered to address any of the issues. Because the hotel is 50yrs old, it's dirty, worn-out, carpets and furniture are filthy, the bathroom is nasty, cleaning staff are absent on the weekends, etc, etc, and etc. I travel a lot. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, even if it only cost $5 per night. Sadly I paid over $200 per night. Ramada, your should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves! Room 314 Jul 10-17, 2023

Worst experience ever staying at a motel/hotel. Unsanitary, dilapidated, horrible customer service. Firstly, the property is completely outdated and dirty. I would expect a lot more from a branded hotel chain such as Ramada. We booked this motel for several reasons including the fact that is had a pool and free continental breakfast included with the stay. The pool remained closed for our entire stay and the first morning when wewalked down to get breakfast the doors were all locked and windows covered. There no note on the door or anything to explain what was going on. We walked to the office and were told a story about a staff member calling in sick. We were given juice boxes and granola bars... If you read through the comments from the past it appears the breakfast is constantly unavailable. The following days were the same story. No breakfast for our entire stay. One of the days were given the hardest most stale cinnamon buns wed ever had in our whole life. Like rocks. The second issue had to do with the unsanitary state of the property. Throughout our entire 3 night stay our bedding was never changed, room never vacuumed or even garages changed and emptied, even when on the second day we phoned the front office. Also, there was blood splattered in the bathroom... When we were checking out I asked to speak with a manager and after explaining all of our issues I was basically mocked for booking through a 3rd party website and was told they could do nothing about it...

Surprised this was a Ramada. Older building but good beds and a patio. We were upgraded to an ocean view bed as they didn't have another room with a microwave. NO airconditioning but a fan in the room worked and it was rainy so no big deal. Great breakfast with lots of variety of hot and cold food.

Had to park on the road across from hotel. Need more parking. My rooms heat was cranked to maximum when I arrived. Felt like a sauna. Took 5 hours to cool down enough for sleep. Also smelled like a public bathroom/bowel movement. To top it off, I was woken up at 9am with a call saying hot water will be shut off in 5 minutes. First I had heard of this. So my terrible hot smelly sleep was topped off with an ice cold shower. Only good thing was the front desk staff.

Needed a place to stay for a single night and with events in town and the summer season i had very few last minute choices. I usually avoid Ramada properties but glad i got to try this one. So the only two bad things i saw was no room had an air conditioner and the breakfast offering for the room price was lacking and ehh. As for the AC, It was warm with the sun beating down but not unbearable. It cooled off a lot after the sun got low which was very nice. The management provides fans to circulate the air and it is nice Now, the good. A very cute hotel in a great location. I was there for work, but felt like it was a mini vacation. Ocean access across the street with only occasional cars blocking the view, and it's a great view. A great walkway for exploring runs along the beach. The bed was comfortable, and it was very clean. Very close proximity to a couple of great restaurants. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly both at check in and at checkout. I would definitely stay again for work or holiday.

I have been thinking about this since it happened and was not sure if I was going to post this a review but when I was checking in a while ago the front desk lady was overwhelmed with guests. Anyways the manager comes out of the office with her things to go home and sees everything and just says “oh wow. Have a good night” and left. Didn’t help the staff member working or anything. That’s absolutely absurd! Poor management in my opinion. I’m taking my business else where next time I’m in Campbell river. 2 stars for this incident, front desk lady was wonderful.

Would I stay here again, no. Old building, little to no updates smokers outside where it clearly states NO SMOKING which comes into your room because there is no option to sleep with the windows/sliders closed because there is NO A/C. Right across the highway to the beach. NO A/C or window screens and even though it wasn't a scorcher of a day it was hot overnight. It definitely needs some major work but overall it was semi-clean and semi-comfortable for the 1 night we stayed there. The continental breakfast was awesome especially compared to a hotel we stayed at in Port Alberni where they wanted $9.99 for their breakfast....

The check-in process was smooth and quick. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is an older model with lots of stairs for the third-floor rooms. The room was clean but dated. Heating and cooling systems worked but again not efficiently as they are older. The location and views were great for access to the ocean. The breakfast was a nice surprise as there were several hot options in addition to the usual free hotel breakfasts.

The front desk staff are not very welcoming, very short with you and kind of have an attitude. The hotel room itself is not so bad, pretty average. However the balconies made for each room is way too close to each other and to the downstairs lounge area. You can hear everything from the balcony. The breakfast food is pretty good though, and the location and price is convenient.

The room smelt like unwashed bodies. I think they did not change the bed linen. We hung an car air freshener on the fan to mask the odor. There was no air conditioning. The bath mat was stained. The previous occupant left dirty socks on the balcony. There was no mesh door on the balcony so the bugs flew in when the door was opened to air out the room. The towels did not smell freshly laundered. The rate charged was not commensurate with the accommodations provided. Would not recommend as it was not a good experience.

This place is inexpensive, but you pay for that in lack of customer service. We (my partner & I) stayed here because I had an emergency surgery & we couldn’t travel once I was discharged from the hospital. The place is very noisy and there’s a lot of noise transfer between rooms. Quiet hours are not enforced, and in fact we were moved once because we complained about our neighbour who quite loud on the phone & hacking loogies quite late into the night. We were moved TWICE all together, the first time because we were put in the wrong room (no kitchen) & the second time because they’d rather move us than enforce their own rules. After our stay, when I addressed these issues in a survey link giving them a generous 3 star review, the GM responded saying we were moved because we didn’t book in advance on the public review (way to save face), but sent an email saying they were sorry for our experience. If you can afford to stay elsewhere, I highly recommend you do.

Affordable for the family, however some investment is long overdue for this location by the property owner. With newer buildings coming in place, this place is already out dated. You can see some things have been updated, however it's time for a rebuild. They had major issues with the door keys not working, drain spouts not connected, and the pool room is needing a new ceiling. I must say the morning breakfast balances out those things, and the staff really try to work with what they have to give their guests a good experience. With prime real estate like this, this could be a amazing with some ROI.

The Guy at the reception who is from britain and speaks some German was amazing, funny and helpful. A group Made Party and disturbing others he helped us stopping the noise. Big room with balcony, fridge, Microwave, Coffee Machine and comfy beds for a good Price. Breakfast was very good. Pool and Sauna too. Room was Clean.

I booked this place for relaxing getaway vacation with my good pal Benji. We packed our bags a set out for a beautiful stay at the Ramada Inn in Campbell River. After 3 or 7 beers, we made our way to the advertised prestige hot tub to soak our tired legs from a long day of site seeing. To our surprise, the hot tub was closed! This was not advertised and was unfortunately a deciding factor in our decision to stay at the Ramada. My heart sank as my knees buckled and I fell to the floor in pool of sadness thinking of how sore my legs would remain for many days due to the lack of heat therapy from the hot tub. Here is a photo of Benji upon our dreadful discovery that the hot tub was not in operation. The room was sufficient and pleasant, but we were beyond disappointed about the broken hot tub. Be warned!

Dirty and gross. Our "non-smoking room" reeked of cigarette smoke. We opened the door to the deck to air out the room, but it wasn't enough. The smell made it hard to sleep. Almost everything was broken, dirty, damaged, or all of the above. The floor of the deck sagged when we stepped on it, so it may be rotting out. We didn't risk using the bath tub or the coffeemaker. The building is so old and neglected.

My stay was very nice & comfortable. The view of Cape Mudge & it’s lighthouse was perfect & beautiful. We were right on the main road so it was super easy to get back into town & not get lost. My room was so comfy cozy. The beds weren’t super firm but firm lol. I slept like I was on a cloud. The pillows…PERFECTION!! They didn’t go flat after an hour but kept their shapes. Excellent pillows!! They have a nice pool & you’ll need to buzz the office so they can unlock the door for you. Great idea so non-guests can’t just go inside to swim. There’s a pretty nice exercise area too for those who want it. I apologize I didn’t take any photos of our room but believe me, room 110 is in my opinion, the best room.

I do not recommend this hotel. It is totally run down. We booked because it had a hot tub, but this wasn't working and there were no plans to fix it. The air conditioning in the room was out of order. We went to breakfast but a sign on the door stated it wasn't available that day. No refund offered. There has to be somewhere better to stay in Campbell River - the price was high.

It's in a convenient spot. The entire place is dated but is clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly. The free breakfast and pool were a nice value add. Over all it is great value for money.

Lovely staff but the room I stayed was straight up filthy. Stains everywhere and lots of hairs in washroom from previous guest. You can smell pot as soon as you open the window. Also no point booking ocean view room. Never staying here again. This is average motel at best.

First of all I want to compliment the staff they went above and beyond, friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately having booked early they put us in the old building where there wereplenty off rooms on ground floor in the new section. We were in Room was freezing cold. Rooms Very dated. They have us a mini heater that blew the breakers putting what ever heat there was out as well. I would stay again because off the staff but never in the old building.

Smoke alarm was ripped out of the wall. The sliding door didn't latch. But my personal favourite was that the toilet paper was folded all fancy but the bathroom hadn't been cleaned (tub had grime, floor desperately needed to be swept, when I wiped the bathroom counter the white cloth came back brown). Walls are super thin. Long hairs and dirt between the sheets. The pool was good though and so was breakfast. The view and location is beautiful.

Booked the rooms seeking a weekend getaway for some up-island adventuring. Our needs are fairly modest and our expectations are pretty reasonable: warm, clean rooms in a pet-friendly motel and inclusive breakfast is a nice bonus. The Campbell River Ramada met these expectations well enough. I booked this motel for the price and as a means to see a bit of the Campbell River seaside while doing late-season skiing around the Paradise Meadows area near Mt. Washington. I banked on the Ramada reputation when I clicked the confirmation. Then I read the reviews which aren't positive. This is a motel from another era and is in a state of bare-bones maintenance as the sea-side district fills with upscale condos situated to take in the stunning views across the Strait of Georgia and up the channel toward the Coast Mountains. The rooms were okay, but the cleaning wasn't perfect as other users have noted. Some trash had been overlooked from the previous occupant, but the sheets were crisp and the furnishings were clean and good-enough. The room was warm and quiet even with a neighbour on each side. Maintenance is so-so. The tub caulking is dirty and old and the tub surround had been painted at some point. There are dings in the furniture and stuff just looks tired inside. Outside there are many signs of the earlier era. Windowboxes stand empty and falling apart and a watering system is likely no longer functioning. An decades old wooden gutter hung from the eaves of our building with holed rotted through while others had been replaced at some point. The pool was non-functioning, but that may be a lingering COVID precaution. Other amenities were good. The WiFi worked well, the in-room coffee was fine and our fridge was cold. The cable package is comprehensive so, although we aren't TV watchers, we had lots of fodder for exhausted zoning out. The hot breakfast was good. The staff kept everything topped up and the selection was very complete with eggs, bacon, waffles, bread, yogurt, fruit cocktail, cereals, juices etc. We left the motel every morning stuffed to the gills and topped up with coffee. Overall our experience was good. The Ramada met our needs, but others with more finicky standards may be disappointed in a place that has seen better days. The owners need to either pony-up some money to renovate the place or cash in on the booming up-island real estate market. 3.5 stars

Very difficult to contact the hotel itself, without getting redirected to a commercial booking site. When we booked with Ramada Campbell River, I specifically asked if the pool was open, as I love swimming, they told me yes it is open. Upon arrival I noticed the pool was M/T, and had not been in service for quite some time. I asked for a ground floor room, and was given a 2nd floor room. Upon more negotiations, I have given a ground floor room. The site is difficult to navigate if you haven't been there before, and had a bizarre dripping sound all night. The 1 star was for the new guy at the desk that was very obliging and a clean room. I might stay there again because you don't get much for $100 now a days.
