Great value for money, however, the whole place was slightly eerie. I arrived around 21:30 and there was a polite receptionist who explained what to do and where to go. I got to the room and it was tidy, but the carpets were dirty and looked very old. The shower was also very low-key, but the water was very warm and high pressure which made up for it. I didn’t mind too much as it was just a place to stay overnight. Maybe I’m being too critical but the place seemed run down and old.

Excellent service from very helpful and friendly staff. The hotel is much better after the recent refurbishment of the rooms and new Bar area. The noise outside is troublesome, but seeing as it is located in the centre and when the windows are closed it's not that much of an issue. Thanks for the service.

The team is amazing, the location is the best and the beds are so comfy. Just the bathroom is really needing an update and the ventilation and fan were not ok neither. But if you are staying on the center for a couple of nights is so good. The elevator needs some cleaning as well. But i was gonna repeat bc i felt so well attended, they are so helpful and the bed was so good. Wifi signal a bit weak

Bang in Cardiff City centre. Well convent for shoppers. Disappointed was the room we had was at the front and was well noisy. Was hard to get to sleep at night. When making reservations made sure you get the back room. Hopefully less noisy.

The rooms are fine. The noise from outside is actually awful. I know it’s not exactly the hotels fault as there is 2 layers of windows to try and lessen the noise, but the fact of the matter is I stayed here for 5 nights and every night I was awake until the clubs shut as my room was thumping and I could hear everything.

Its like every other travel lodge...but if travel lodge did council houses in Beirut. Staff were lovely hence 2* but its not what you expect hallways are dark and dingy, bed was nice. Room was hotter than Hell. Fan was in the room to push the hot air around. Windows don't open and the showers were useless and would rather have a wash from a garden hose.

Stayed here two nights it was clean and the bed was comfy. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a night club directly opposite so lots of noise but this didn't bother me at all I liked knowing there were people around

Dirty, cold, dark, depressing rooms. Thumping base from nearby nightclub till 4am (even on Sunday night) uncomfortable bed. No sleep. As budget hotels go, this is by far the worst I have stayed in. Only redeeming feature was the staff who were friendly and sympathetic. Not their fault.

Room was clean but the bed was very uncomfortable, quite hard and rooms needed updating in parts. Check-in was quick and easy, friendly staff. Breakfast was fine but had to wait a while for some of it to be cooked after pointing out there was nothing left. Great city centre location, opposite some bars so not ideal for people who are light sleepers. Didn't bother us and couldnt hear much with the windows closed, being central you should expect noise

We were welcomed by a lovely receptionist Vanessa really friendly. the rooms are clean. Me phone lost its charge so i asked a young man on reception if i could borrow one as i had done so before unfortunately he said no and redirected me to the local spar. I had recently had surgery on my leg do that wasn’t an option. We were again welcomed in the morning but a lady called Kelly who didn’t hesitate to lend me one as there were a few in the draw. I was very grateful. So remember guys to take a phone charger!!

The service was lovely. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The location was right in the heart of central Cardiff and it was delightful. The room itself was a complete letdown. I found hair on the table, the sheets were dirty, the eco heater did not heat the room, the room was cold and the sheets bedding left me with a rash on my body

An older style Travelodge, very conveniently located by Cardiff Castle, just off Queen's St. The rooms are standard, clean & the corridors are wide. Hot shower, which is welcome. The outside night time noise can be rather loud & constant, but that is due to the location. The Bar/Cafe is ok & food is reasonable. Friendly staff who try hard. Good for a weekend stay in the city.

I was based here for the weekend with my job, the staff did offer me an alternative hotel after advising me about the noise from the nightclub opposite, it was late and after a long day decided to stay where I was, big mistake. Loud, vibration of music from the live lounge was dreadful. Next time I'll opt for the hotel change.

Business trip to Cardiff city. Location was great, everything you would need is close by. Cardiff Castle is 2 mins walking distance. Staff were helpful and accommodating. They also have a bar which is open till very late, hot buffet breakfast, dinner available... alot of the other branches do not serve a breakfast/dinner at all. I would stay again. Thank you!

Yep, I know its a budget hotel but we didn't pay a budget price. Room was absolutely baking and we only had a tiny fan and the window would only open 2 inches. Staff great and brilliant location.

Stayed for 2 noisy nights. Room was dark and depressing- in need of a good clean with dirty drink spattered walls, poor lighting. Room wasn’t attended to at all between nights. Only dreadful tasting instant coffee available at breakfast as machine was broken - had been for some time by the looks of it. There was a time when I might have overlooked all of the above when Travelodge was cheap but at nearly £120 for one person for a night, won’t rush back.

Staff were friendly, room was big and it is centrally located. No other good points unfortunately. The decor is tired, the rooms and communal areas are grotty. The stairwell is dirty with chewing gum walked into the carpet. I asked to move rooms on arrival due to there being food in the plug hole in the bathroom. It looked like a bean sprout and I had to stop myself imagining how it got there. The staff member was apologetic and very helpful in getting me an alternative room. Generally however, the whole place needs a deep clean and a freshen up.

Central location, perfect if shopping or having a night out. Room was basic but clean with all necessities needed. Wet room style bathroom which was on the smaller side but did us fine for the night. Comfortable bed and not too noisy, considering how close to local nightclubs it is. We had a good night's sleep. Breakfasts was a bit of a let down if I'm honest. A good variety of cereals, yogurts and pastries. However the hot food seemed a little dry and like they'd been left out a long time. Security is great when coming in late, room key access to main doors and to each floor which made us feel very safe. Overall a great value, central hotel and a good night's sleep.

Best thing about this place is the location, you’re in the centre of everything it’s great. Rooms are 2006 core so don’t expect anything fancy… toilets were not my personal favourite either. Also if you find it hard to sleep don’t stay here, loud at night & also no air conditioning for the hot weather (they do give fans but just blows hot air tbh). Breakfast was good tho for the price.

Stayed here 8th July 22. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was lovely plenty to eat, the chief I think his name is Ellis , what a lovely person. I stayed in green zone so not a lot of noise. Rooms were clean & basic. For a budget hotel very good. Would I stay again! Answer is yes.

Stayed last night. Room small and not very welcoming. Scruffy looking and not too clean. I cleaned the skirting boards with wetwipes! The bed was comfy and the shower hot. The main issue was the fact that the room faced the street, opposite, which was a nightclub pumping out music til 3 am! Would definitely NOT stay here again which is a shame as it has a great location

Room was clean, no air con so it was extremely hot. WiFi needed to be paid for as an extra 🙄 no USB ports, extremely odd layout. Staff were lovely on reception. Shower temperature fluctuated. Would I stay at Travelodge again ? No thank you.

Dirty, uncomfortable, tired and in need of a re-do. I had to clean the desk because it was also my ironing board. Sticky brown stuff all along the back would have ruined my trousers. I had to go down stairs three times to finally get an iron that was clean enough to use. The room is baking with a dinky fan and a window that opens 2-inches. Across from my room on the 3rd floor is a very well-lit 24-hour gym. Outside on a Friday night is non-stop bass/club music. I did have and wore ear plugs but didn’t help. Remote was filthy, bathroom cord used to be white, and there was a broken fingernail on the floor. Ew. Worst place ever. I will never stay in a Travelodge again. Staff were nice, embarrassed about the irons. They had aircon! 🤬 Do not stay here. I wished I had booked somewhere else.

Stayed here last night 6th June as we went to watch Coldplay. This was in a perfect location, walking distance from the principality stadium. Rooms were ok (only slept in them) for what we needed for 1 night. The key to our room stopped working when we got back late from the gig but staff helped straight away. Parking was a pain as we had to park in st David's car park and walked 10 mins with the bags, not ideal but hey ho. Brekfast was good and staff were friendly and welcoming.

Stayed here on the 23/12/23. Good Central location, took 2 minutes to check in and out, room was clean and bed comfy. Everything we wanted, and the price of £30 made it great value.

This place has recently been refurbished. Our room was a spacious family room at the rear so no noise from the street. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Would use again.

We stayed here for one night and felt we had good value for money. The check in process was simple and was advised about breakfast times and even the happy hour at the bar. All front of house staff were very friendly. The room was budget and to the usual Travelodge standard but spacious enough for our stay and included a fan and tea making facilities. The bathroom was of a decent size and fully functional. The room we was allocated was on the first floor and we heard very little noise from the bustling street below. We will stay again when in the area.

We knew it would be a basic stay. The staff were friendly. But housekeeping let our stay down. Put sign out on door for fresh towels and more coffee and milk. Didn't get it. Had to ask at reception. Also looking around housekeeping had skipped cleaning in places Wouldn't moan but we had paid for this.....

Absolutely fantastic location, staff very nice. There is bar, restaurant and breakfast available. Room clean. Gym located opposite the street open late but double window stopped all the noises. Bars, takeaways and Mac nearby. The only issue is parking, very expensive up to £26 in multi storey. For bigger vans two NCP open space parking available. First smaller but just few minutes away £21 / 24h . Second bigger and cheaper £16 /24h about 12 mins walking distance.

I really enjoyed this hotel because of the location to the shops and McDonald’s. The bathroom was immaculate, the room was clean, and spacious. My only concern was that the actual duvet was soiled in multiple places with something that looked like blood. Apart from that the room was a nice warm temperature and had a nice fan to cool the air when needed. As for the nightclub directly opposite raving all day till dawn the next morning it didn’t bother me in the slightest. In fact the atmosphere was quite relaxing. The lady with the blonde hair on reception was very polite and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay in Cardiff and will visit again and request the same room number.

A cheap way to stay for a night in Cardiff after a concert at the Motorpoint Arena. Very noisy late at night. At midnight I can still hear the music from across the street at the pub.....

  • 2/5 David C. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel itself is OK but don't stay there if you want to sleep. There is a nightclub opposite that is open until 4am and the music is very very loud. The clientèle queuing to get in were also shouting and screaming. Room and bed were clean and comfortable and people on reception were helpful.

Basic, good value, clean and with helpful/friendly staff. The only downside was the cleaner went in our room and started cleaning before we had checked out! Unsure how that happened as we'd not handed our key card back!

Room was basic, remote control for TV looks like it’s been burnt! Back was off so remote didn’t work, or batteries dead! Couldn’t close window! No toilet brush or shampoo etc, wouldn’t recommend. Loud location for live music, even on a Thursday night -_-

Had to change rooms due to untidy bed, sticky and messy table, marks on the ceiling and floor, toilet roll not changed since last occupant, carpet clearly not hoovered. New room was better although not clean enough as visible dust and outside hallway smelt of urine. Rooms are extremely hot with no air conditioning and poor ventilation

I expected to hear noise at night in the city centre and it did disturb my sleep but I was woken at 6.30 in the morning by loud singing and very loud music which was still happening when I left at 10am. Not the hotel to go to if you like peace and quiet.

  • 4/5 Hermione S. 2 years ago on Google
For £40 a night, it was really good. Rooms where clean and the bed was surprisingly really comfortable. One thing I will say is it’s really noisy during the night so if you’re a fan of quiet definitely request a green room. We was first put into a red room which is one of the loudest rooms in the hotel but the lady at the front desk was very helpful and moved us to an amber room. It was still rather noisy but I couldn’t hear a thing with ear plugs. Great location and overall very impressed. Would stay here again

  • 3/5 Alison B. 2 years ago on Google
Rather a funny white stain down side of bed. Curtains falling down. Very small shower room. Remote control would only work when it wanted. Asked for a quiet room when we checked in but as we were checking in early there weren't the rooms to offer us. Why offer early check in if there are no quiet/quieter rooms available?

  • 1/5 kevin b. 1 year ago on Google
We booked a room at Cardiff travel lodge during the recent heat wave. When we arrive it was clear we wouldn't be able to sleep in a room that hot. So we asked to check out they offered us a room on a lower floor still the room was to hot as they have no air con. We then asked for a refund to which I've been offered a free breakfast. Which we decline. Next offer was 30 off next booking also we declined. Latest offer was £30 refund. Now I think this is disgusting we did not use either room. I know they can't control the weather. But when you book a room to sleep in you would expect to sleep so if the conditions don't allow you to sleep and they have no way to control the conditions why can't they just give a full refund. You would not buy a coat for 90 quid try it on and it doesn't fit take it back for a refund and they say sorry it doesn't fit here's a partial refund

  • 1/5 Craig A. 2 years ago on Google
Wow.......and not in a good way!!! Thank god I am only staying for one night for work. The first room I was given was absolutely disgusting, the carpet was stained and filthy..... I wouldn't have let my dog sleep in there. After initially being told they were fully booked (which I doubt on a Tuesday night), I was given a second room, which wasn't much better. Paint and plaster missing from the wall, bathroom was filthy, including the previous guests hair ok the bathroom floor, shower head loose, and door handle hanging on by a thread. The staff were pleasant enough, but avoid at all costs.......even the vending machine in reception doesn't work properly.

Great for a city centre stay. We booked this last minute after we drove 3 hours from Devon to discover our hotel we had booked months before was closed. We stayed for 2 nights for £87 no breakfast. Room was adequate, however this is a city centre hotel it has its wear and tear, but if your using it as a place to sleep for the night while your out in the day it's perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful

  • 2/5 Gabriele M. 2 years ago on Google
Nobody tells you anything about breakfast or dinner. Very uncomfortable bed, walls scratched and dirty. The only two good things were pressure in the shower and coffee in the room. Although shower curtain was mouldy. There was no toilet brush and after taking a shower the whole room smelled like mould.

Amazing man on night reception !!! Cleaners your doing a good job too. Booked in mother's Day night on line about 9 pm easy but got my dates wrong ! So called they changed them immediately, explained I would not be checking in till at least 12.30 due to work so transferred me to queen Street, the gent I spoke to was so happy and helpful !! When I arrived he had my room ready and even the lights were on inside room which made it feel more homley. Bed yet again very comfortable slept amazing want to know where beds and pillows are from haha. As for noise I was in room 101 and apart from one loud drunk lady really quiet 👍😉 and I did have the window open all night. Highly recommended and I will definitely stay again, p.s I have run hotels so appreciate how hard they can be.

The good thing about staying at a Travelodge is that you know exactly what you're going to get, & Cardiff Queen St. didn't disappoint. Though I must say that the water pressure was a surprise bonus in that it was awesome.

My stay was excellent. The room was comfortable and clean the food was good but it was the staff that made it excellent sherry and other members of staff were amazing. Sherry went above and beyond to make sure our every need was catered for, she even went out of her way to cook us a pizza while there were issues Preventing the use of the kitchen. This lady deserves promotion 👏 👌 🙌 Thank you for making our stay amazing.

Very loud nightclub opposite the room open until 4am. Very hot room with tiny fan. No power outlet by bed. Breakfast overcooked, vegan sausage so hard I couldn’t cut it! Rubbish on floor of room. Shower gel put in place of hand soap in dispenser. Entryway slippery. Lift not working well, had to ask security for help with it. Very noisy clientele at this hotel too - maybe popular with stag and hen nights. I stayed here with one other adult and didn’t feel comfortable. I would not recommend it to families or anyone wanting a decent nights sleep. The bedding had staining on it and the bed runner was in dire need of a wash too. The windows were dirty and the menu in the room had spilt food on it. Avoid this hotel. I’ll be driving home instead next time if this is the only option.

Fantastic value for money, and amazing location! The room was a bit run down but sound proof. Didn't hear any noise from the city. Staff were really helpful. I didn't eat here as the high street offered lots of restaurants.

  • 3/5 Gill P. 1 year ago on Google
The ladies on reception was lovely very friendly and welcoming. Rooms got all you need and very clean. But no good on a hot summer night no air as window don't open much and just a small fan. So trapped warm air.

  • 2/5 Keith 1 year ago on Google
Central location. Room adequate. Room "Top Up" does not include toilet paper (the empty rolls not a big enough hint) which we had to get ourselves or empty shower gel (empty on arrival), had to use our own. Breakfast adequate but cooked items not kept stocked. Seems they started cooking when they ran out so long wait.

  • 5/5 Philip J. 2 years ago on Google
Clean, well equipped, very good location for central Cardiff. Reception helpful. Not easily accessible by car but there is a handy car park at the Capitol Shopping centre a few minutes walk away along the pedestrianised Queen Street.
