So Travelodge you expect/usually get a decent bed and a good shower and honestly this is all I care about so no need in talking about dirt etc from me. This one, the bed is not the usual comfortable Travelodge one and you got just 1 rubbish pillow each. The worst thing however is the shower, it is ridiculously small with a hot water pipe in it that you can't help but brush up against and burn yourself, it is so small you cannot lift your arms properly to wash your hair and its a horrible curtain that keeps sticking to you and then the floor outside floods. Also when I went to turn it off I turned the temperature control by accident, safety stop on heat was broke so I got a blast of scorching water. The room itself wasn't too bad but again safety nightmare, I was in like an attack room with Dorma window, very very low hard and sharp edge that you can't help but hit your head on. 2 things any hotel needs to get right, the bed and shower, this one fails miserably and is a danger to health.

Very quite and peaceful hotel. Rooms were clean and well decorated. Tea ,coffee was in the room. There was a cattle also. They provide iron and hairdryer if you need. Frankly speaking the hotel seems bit old but they have maintained it a very good way. I loved my stay at travellodge!!

Just stayed at this travelodge with 10 others, staff were brilliant ,rooms for the cost perfectly adaquate ,if you wanted anything and asked, you got it, Denese ,the manager very pleasent lady, will stay again, good free parking and great location if heading away from Cardiff Centre every day as we were to various golf courses, Toby Carvery good for a drink not so good for food, like all carverys basic and no variation ok for one night but who wants to eat the same meal every night, so we visited various pubs and resturants within 15 mins walk. Great stay

We stayed three nights, the room was comfortable, clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. The staff were all very friendly, and accommodating when we misunderstood the signs. Very quiet, loads of parking, nice bathroom. What more can you expect?

Took my mother-in-law for food for her birthday. We had carvery which was really nice, I had parsley sauce on mine. Staff were very polite and the carvery server was very funny with the mother-in-law as she wanted a small Yorkshire pudding and gave her what looked like a pancake. We had a giggle. Food tasted lovely. Thank you.

We had a one night stay to give us time to catch up on our Christmas shopping and to go to the Christmas Market. We have stayed at Whitchurch Travelodge a few times but this is the first time on the top floor the rooms are smaller moreso due to the sloping ceiling the shower is small with just a curtain which sticks to you and the water tends to go on the floor and pool around the toilet. The bed was comfortable and clean and tidy and the room was too. Being next door to the Toby Inn is ideal for evening meals and breakfast.

Not like the standard Travelodge! This building will benefit from complete renovation and upgrade as everywhere look so old and laidback. From the doors, keys, bathrooms and even WI-FI needs to be upgraded. Not a pleasant experience as I have to check out without staying the entire duration I booked for.

Stay away from this place. Cut a long story short arrived to check in around midnight spent 15 mins in the rain standing outside the reception as door was locked and no one was manning the desk. Pressed buzzer around 20 times but no show. I eventually had to Google the number of the hotel and call, then all of a sudden guys appears from the back room with his mouth full of food. I complain to him and told him I've been waiting 15 mins absolutely soaked and he had the nerve to tell me that I had not been there that long. It was late and I'd had a 7 hour drive so could not be bothered to argue with him. Anyway gets to my room which is we'll below the average standards of a travel lodge very dated...go to take a shower and no shower gel it was completely empty...I could go on but will end it here.

Decided to come here due to it being local to an event we were doing and stayed 2 nights. The room was fine apart from it being a little outdated but it was clean and tidy on arrival, usual facilities to make tea and coffee. Beds were comfortable, extra pillows were in the room. No bath but the shower was nice and hot. Overall a good stay. Would come back again if in the area....I think yes. Staff were friendly and it's next door to the Toby.

VERY grotty depressing rooms with tares in duvet cover, the first room I was given WASNT even made ready for me after the last guest with dirty coffee cups etc, doors don’t have slow shut mechanisms so they bang ALLLLLLLL night waking you up, Wi-Fi code didn’t work, TV remote didn’t work so reception changed batteries and I was told to “push the buttons really hard” Toby carvery empty there glass bottles late at night that wakes you up, very disappointed, very tired.

Dated and worn. But like a university hall of residence. Reception is like the custody suite booking in desk. Loud banging doors everywhere. Poor soundproofing - could hear next door room phone vibration, talking etc. You get what you pay for. On the plus side its handy for the Tesco Express at the petrol station over the road.

Fair Travelodge, rooms a bit tired. Bed comfy and clean. No shower gel or soap for hand wash, ok we bought our own. No idea how the air con works?? 2 tea bags for 2 people, 1 night stay, it's ok you can get more from reception. Would rate the room as ÂŁ50 a night not ÂŁ100. Overpriced. Site needs a good tidy. On a main road into cardiff, nowhere near anything to be honest but the Toby is next door and the staff are lovely and very friendly.

Went for meal in the toby carvery after work the place is nice but the food has gone downhill since our last visit in January the front of house staff very friendly but the chef carving the meats was more interested trying to chat up few young girls who were there getting their meals and ended up cutting all the fat off the beef and putting on my plate when I said can I have some meat instead of just fat he just pushed the plate at me and said there's nothing wrong with my serving I will not be going there again for food and I will be telling all my work friends about my experience

Need to ask for towels. A bit tatty round the edges. Great location for Cardiff. Friendly helpful staff. Adjacent to the Toby ideal for food and cheap. I had a pleasant stay x

Plenty of parking, tesco petrol station opposite (does key fuels), joint onto a Toby carvery, great location

We have stayed here many times, this was the best yet.. it's had a lick of paint and looks good, this time we had a very big room clean and perfect for what we wanted. Staff are helpful and willing to talk with you. Good location, Toby is next door and tesco just across the road, bus into Cardiff, but the buses are poor. Waiting 40 minutes on a Saturday night at 8pm for one back to the Travelodge. This is the best Travelodge I've stayed in. Bigger rooms and cleaner

Location accessible . However the overall stay wasn’t good. Situated behind Toby Carvery. Tiny room, clean & tidy. Shower curtain for a small shower with no mat for floor & soap dispenser was empty . No aircon but a fan was supplied, which had to be on all night. Windows over look rear of restaurant, so could hear staff from kitchen esp 22.50pm! when a member of staff putting rubbish in wheelie bin & trying to slam the lids shut , shouted loudly to another that “ it still won’t shut !!! “ The bin men at 7am were quieter than her ! In the corridors the doors are so heavy they slam shut so could hear people come & go a lot. Just wanted a peaceful sleep as had a 6hr drive down & had a further 6hrs return later the next day. Broken sleep didn’t help.

The pillows and the bed was very comfy. It was very hot but they had fans. Our flush wasnt working properly. The rooms had enough space and entertainment. Location was not obvious and at first looked sketchy. Service was very nice and kind and finally, you have 30 mins free wifi but then have to pay ÂŁ3 for 24 hrs of internet.

Very comfortable beds, plenty of tea bags etc in room, plenty of room. Toby Carvery next door, so can go for breakfast there, but I found the food for breakfast not very nice, and if u want porridge or orange juice, that costs extra. But the normal meals are very nice. And u can have a vegetarian meal, and as much veg as u want.

Good all round. Staff amazing, especially Dave. What a star! Shower had curtain (eewww) and sheer was dirty and had a hole. Sorted pronto by Dave.

Was actually a nice Travelodge to stay at. Got confused where the directions told us to go but figured it out. The bed was really comfy, shower/ bathroom was really nice and clean. Was very pleased with our stay. The staff were really friendly and polite. Recommend this hotel

It wasn't up to the usual standard if Travelodges we have stayed in before. Very basic, despite it's advertised refurbishment. Beds were comfortable, which is good, the place was fairly clean and most of the staff were helpful and friendly, but it was obvious that everything was pared back to the absolute necessities. I didn't expect 5 star luxury, but at ÂŁ100ish a night I think it could have been a bit better.

Visited the Lewis after a nice 7 mile walk up over the Ridgeway, looking forward to a pint of S A. No brains beer on sale, come on sort this out or you'll have even less people coming in through the door

Not great. Clean sheets that smell like eggs. Small hairs all over sink and surrounding area. Very run down. Staff polite.

A fallen down brick wall; electric sparks; disused equipment left on the lawn. The rooms were basic and in need of upgrading. Shower was a dribble and small. Toilet was broken. Just needs a face lift. Management should be changed as this place feels like it’s ready to be in a zombie film.

  • 2/5 Diann T. 2 years ago on Google
The rooms were clean & tidy. However l do think that management need to review their " Disabled rooms". The beds are narrow single beds. My husband who has left hemiplegia after a stroke, is a big man and nearly fell out the bed when he tried to turn on his side. The shower is over the bath. He would not have been able to climb in or out unassisted . I suggest a wet room with a proper seat which can be folded out should it be required.

Where to start!!! Dirty room, dirty carpets tiles falling off walls. No towels provided and had to ask. Poor quality towels then provided but just one hand towel and 2 bath tierls no bath mat. Noisy and overlooked the kitchen and waste area.

Great location and very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are clean and beds are comfy, but the whole place needs a complete refurbishment. Shower is very poor, (the holder fell off the wall) toilet roll holder missing, no hooks on the bathroom door, etc.

The experiance was pretty dreadful even for a budget hotel and I thought considering it’s been recently refurbished I would look past the 1-Star review
but I was definitely wrong. The room which had been recently refurbished (could still smell fresh paint) was in really poor condition and filthy. The window was completely cover in so much dirt it looks cloudy, there were cobwebs and spiders in every corner of the window and walls had ketchup splattered on them in various places. The worse part was the bathroom which had mould in multiple places including the tiles and shower curtain, before then discoving the shower soap dispenser being very watery and smelt awful. I prized the dispenser open to find the soap dispenser completely full of murky dirty stale water and covered in mould. It was absolutely disgusting. If I hadn’t of arrived so late (early hours of morning) and could see the extend of the dirty room in day light, I would of moved to a different hotel. I did write to Tavelodge to share this information but they responded completely ignoring this, the main issue of my email and just offered a £13 refund for a family room I booked that wasn’t actually available when I went to check in at one of their other hotels in Swansea (although that hotel was in a much nicer condition!) Would highly recommend looking at an alternative hotel if your looking to stay in Cardiff.

Tidy! Large family room, comfortable bed. Can't ask for more. Only downside hot water took forever to come through. TV so small and miles away should've supplied binoculars

Comfortable but pricey room ÂŁ179 for a night. I asked why so expensive, staff said Tom Jones Playing in Cardiff. I asked if this pricing policy for Tom Jones concerts was normal? The lady replied " It's not unusual".

Appalling builders’ noise from next door room at 8am. Room and hotel recently painted, obviously by the lowest bidder. New carpet very dusty, room quite dark and airless. Small window. Stayed for 2 nights, 12th & 13th June 2022. Two rooms for single occupation, both of us disturbed at 8am sharp on 14th by the noise of someone presumably fitting carpets in the room next to mine. Complained to Customer Services who declined any refund and only offered “something extra” next time we book with Travelodge, which will be never. Builders’ vans filling car park, weeds growing in guttering outside window, toilet only casually cleaned. Fortunately the Toby next door does a good cheap breakfast. Awful customer service from HQ, who didn’t seem interested; was expecting ‘hotel’ to be below par but then it wasn’t cheap. It’s Premier Inn for me next time. They give you a refund.

Not very clean but ok for a stop gap but what a terrible stay loud banging of doors drunk people who started a fight in the toby carvery next door but staying in hotel police called and they were allowed to stay felt unsafe didnt sleep at all as we couldn't we were frightened

Travel Lodge Whitchurch, Cardiff Wales/ Toby’s Carvery This place is ideal if you are in Cardiff for work or for touring around Cardiff and nearby towns. It is affordable on certain days. The staffs are really lovely and helpful. The place is Easy to Locate, 5-10 min from the city centre and Cardiff Bay. it is actually at the back part of Toby’s Carvery and almost opposite Tesco Express. This Travel lodge is clean, parking is free, downstairs is Toby’s Carvery which is really convenient. The roast food there was delicious.

  • 4/5 Rebecca T. 1 year ago on Google
This travelodge is well located for Cardiff behind a Toby carvery where you can also get breakfast. Rooms clean and basic recently refurbished. Staff friendly and helpful. Our problem was thin walls! the people in the next room were talking all night! Sounded like they were running a call centre 3 different voices non stop, we didn't get much sleep !

  • 5/5 Julie R. 1 year ago on Google
I have to say I was very impressed!! Previous reviews were rubbish, but the location suited us perfectly so I ‘bit the bullet’ and booked a 2 night stay. Rooms have been recently refurbed (July) and still smelled of paint!! Everything was brand new and sparkling! (Coffee machine, kettle, shower
) wayyyy better than I was expecting!! Thank you to Denise and crew for looking after us! If there is a downside it’s
the car park. Full of potholes, uneven surfaces, and a lot of rubbish. Not a good welcome to what is now a nice place to stay 😹

  • 4/5 Jonathan H. 1 year ago on Google
Needs updating but a reasonable hotel. Watch the location as Cardiff stops running buses early and you will need to walk or taxi back. Close to M4 so good if you don't want to fight your way into Cardiff city. Car park is free but don't forget to enter your registration at reception. Useful Tesco express opposite hotel.

They serve small portion of meat. The queue is long. I suggest that the meat cutter should be two persons to do it and also they should assign one staff to supervise their customers in getting their side dish like veggies , potatoes , gravy etc.. so that flow of the queue will be quicker and not too long to wait for the next customer in waiting..
