I would not recommend the tour. Our guide was super nice but the tour was not informative at all. He started by saying that all Venezuelans were squatters and that they were too many. Later said that Panama was 200% black which seemed out of place. I know I can’t understand local tensions but this just seemed inappropriate. We were given very little information throughout the tour and when we were it was inaccurate (we were told the San Pedro church was built in the 18th century when it’s in the 15th century) which made us lose total trust in the rest of the tour. Most anecdotes related to candy/beer/bar destinations instead of the cultural and historical tour we were really looking for. It has potential but needs much more rigor.

Being quite hot in Cartagena, it was quite difficult to keep attention but our guide did his best. The main issue that I had was that our guide often explained as he walked and so I could not always hear him, despite being in a small group of 6 people. The things that I did hear were interesting though.

Wonderful introduction to this beautiful city. Gustavo was an excellent English-speaking guide with a very profound knowledge of the history. This was the very best way to get acquainted with Cartagena.

We were a little apprehensive on what the tour would be like as never been to Columbia before but as soon as we saw Gustavo we could see what a pleasant young man he was. He gave us a very informative, animated and amusing tour. We also love meeting the story behind the locals we meet . Gustavo had such great interpersonal skills we assumed he was born into a privileged family. Not so. he has obviously worked hard, completing a history degree and wants to have a career in tourism. Heartwarming to see a young man with ambition and his mum and grandmother must be very proud of him. The only tip I would give the company is to tell customers on booking they should only pay $10.00 for a taxi ride from the cruise ship and have the right money as they don’t have change (Gustavo told us after we paid $25.00) and that the square to meet is through the yellow clock tower as when we first arrived it was a bit bewildering as you do get hassled by others in the town and not speaking the language difficult to get directions.
