The Central Mosque in Greater Mymensingh is the 'Boro Masjid' in Chawkbazar. On Eid, on Fridays, countless people boarded buses and trains and came from far and wide to seek the blessings of the 'Great Mosque'. Mymensingh is known as the city of history and tradition. The big mosque has become one of the monuments of history in this city. Large mosques have been mentioned in various texts on the history and heritage of Mymensingh. Chawkbazar Jame Mosque (Large Mosque) During the reign of Shri Rajeshwari Devi during the reign of British India, the Muslims of the area built a tin hut on a piece of fallow land in Chawkbazar with the verbal permission of the zamindar. It is considered as the central religious institution of greater Mymensingh. On a land of about 1.9 acres, there is a three-storey mosque with a large minaret and domes, a madrasa of two buildings, and a library.
