It
mainly
is
a
historical
place.
Cherag
means
a
small
kerosine
fuelled
lamp,
a
traditional
old
lamp
used
by
the
rural
people
in
Bangladesh.
It
is
said
that,
once
a
priest
came
to
this
place,
which
was
a
dense
forest
that
time,
and
full
of
bad
spirits.
He
came
with
a
“Cherag”
and
with
it’s
light,
he
drove
all
the
bad
spirits
far
away.
He
then
kept
it
on
all
the
time.
From
then,
this
area
is
named
“Cheragi
Pahar”
meaning
Hill
of
Cherag.
With
the
time
being,
that
huge
hill
was
cut
down
and
only
few
parta
are
remained
now.
A
symbolic
circle
with
a
small
beautiful
monument
is
now
seen
in
the
middle
of
this
place.
This
is
The
most
famous
and
popular
place
in
Chattogram
among
young
peoples
to
hang
out.
At
every
evening
this
place
turn
into
a
huge
crowd
just
because
young
and
middle
aged
people
come
here,
hang
around
and
chat
for
hours.
Probably
one
of
the
liveliest
place
in
the
town.
I
always
love
to
be
there
with
my
friends
and
cousins.
This
place
feels
so
charming
and
relaxing
always.
There
are
lots
of
food
courts,
restaurants,
kiosks
and
many
roadside
benches
for
the
pedestrians
to
sit
and
relax.
Recently
a
stereo
system
has
been
installed
here.
After
evening,
authority
plays
famous
bengali
songs
via
this.
