I came in here and I had one of the best times of my life. I’ve never had food from Yemen. YEMENI FOOD IS AMAZING!! This is an extremely new and local mom and pop place. I love places like this. You can tell everything is homemade. The person working there suggested what I should eat. Lamb mandi. He gave me different types of lamb to try. It comes with different sides like lemons, onions, caramelized crispy onions. The portions were HUGE! The lamb fell off the bone. It was SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD. Also got a yogurt and cucumber salad/ sauce and a Yemeni tea. Everything was absolutely delicious. Also, I was told I could eat with my hands. In my culture we also eat with our hands. I sat by myself and just ate (half with my hands and half with utensils). Just sat in silence and ate. It was pure unadulterated bliss. I even got to speak to the owner who was telling me that he owned a huge restaurant in Yemen, and this is the same food. He made everything himself. This food was phenomenal and a treat to my taste buds. Looking forward to my leftovers. Can’t wait to go back here!

الاكل طيب والمندي جداً جميل صراحه والشاي العدني بعد جميل شكراً لكم على اجمل وأطيب اكل I recently dined at an exquisite restaurant that left me utterly delighted and craving for more. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance captivated my senses with its elegant decor and soft, ambient lighting. The menu, a culinary masterpiece, offered an array of delectable options that catered to every palate. I started with the chef's special appetizer, a symphony of flavors that danced on my taste buds, setting the tone for an extraordinary dining experience. The main course was a work of art, expertly prepared and bursting with freshness. Each dish was a harmonious blend of ingredients, showcasing the chef's creative genius.

A restaurant that deserves one hundred star, not Five stars. Nice treatment, delicious food, and respect. If you want to taste Yemeni food in its original form, I advise you to go to AL-Diar restaurant.

Al-Diar Restaurant is a new addition to the neighborhood serving incredible Yemeni cuisine in Chicago. While seating may be a bit limited, the food is undeniably delicious and heartwarming. We had Chicken Mandi and Lamb Haneeth during our visit - the Chicken Mandi offered a fantastic charred flavor, while the Lamb Haneeth was incredibly tender, practically melting off the bone. Both dishes were served generously over seasoned rice. The house soup, delivered at the meal’s start, was hearty with a delightful kick of spice. Overall, it was a fulfilling meal and we are excited to return for more.

The Mandi Chicken is phenomenal. My only advice that it needs Lamb Broth مرگ or something of that sort to add to the rice. But otherwise it's pretty good.

The service here is warm and hospitable, reflective of the staffs generosity. Who are also eager to share their knowledge of the cuisine, and a menu that offers an impressive variation of Yemeni specialties, mainly and undoubtedly the perfectly seasoned and slow-cooked lamb Mandi dish served over basmati rice, with a side of homemade Yemeni salsa (shatni), adding a delightful taste. Been here over 4 times yet I’m still as amazed of how good it is as my first time.
