The most worth it restaurant I've been to do far in river north. Delicious and filling Italian food without breaking the bank. Flavors were well balanced in every dish. Recommending it as a stop for when my family visits. Despite a little bit of a wait, our waitress was awesome and the service was prompt. It's a very busy restaurant, so expect bustling and noise.

This place surprised me!!! Amazing, good quality, family style Italian food! The place is very charming and the staff is very kind. They take true care of you when you’re there. Bread with Olive oil, Parmesan and balsamic to start and the food just got better with time. The food comes out as it’s made and it is all fresh ingredients and hot! Added bonus being the food being very affordable and generous portions- again family style. We ordered 3 dishes and a drink and payed around $50 for everything- TOGETHER! would highly recommend and will be going again on my next visit!!

Tables were tiny and space felt tight. Service was good - we had a trainee as our server so leaving room for some grace there. Great for a date - any larger parties and you're fighting for elbow room. Very interesting layout of the restaurant. It's definitely bigger than one would expect. They have outdoor, indoor, upstairs and balcony seating. Pretty busy place - be sure to make reservations!

Came here for a get together, and the food was delicious. Every appetizer and pasta we ordered were amazing, not even one disappointed us. The meatball was so, so good!!! Highly recommend if you're looking for good Italian food in town, and the price was very reasonable.

We went for lunch on a Tuesday and had a great experience at the bar. Special thanks to the manager Nick and bartender David for taking such good care of us. I drank some “grapefruitcello” (which is made in house) and it was very tasty. Also had the chicken Parmesan, which was delicious. Couldn’t find a fault with the whole experience if I tried. It’s also a very big restaurant, and I’ve definitely seen it packed before for dinner. See pictures for different dining areas, also great for private events (from past experiences). I would definitely recommend this restaurant to tourists and locals. The staff is also really good at remembering locals.

My favorite meal on my first visit to Chicago. We sat on the balcony overlooking beautiful architecture. Great service and delicious food!!! Definitely going home and grilling lemons! Brilliant

Outstanding restaurant! We are so glad we came by! The prices are very affordable, portions very large and as flavorful and authentic Italian you can get anywhere in Chicago. The restaurant was busy when we came for dinner service, but the food still came out quick (tapas style) and service was incredible. We recommend the Calamari, Beef Short Rib, and the Shrimp Diavolo, and the Tiramisu (best I have ever had) Very impressed! We will be sure to stop by again before leaving the city.

Come here. There is unlikely to be a better balance of value, good food, location, and service for Italian anywhere nearby in river north. The restaurant was packed and yet servers always got to us. Definitely eat the neopolitam pizzas because they are do crispy. Also order a few pastas and be prepared to share family style as intended. Bathrooms and clean and the ambiance is nice. The quality of food is good. For example their olive oil is pretty nice. I'll be coming back for sure.

The best Italian restaurant in Chicago! 👍👍Authentic and original Italian tastes👑 I am pretty judgmental and picky about foods. My priority in picking the restaurant is that the foods are healthy. Eating outside in Chicago, sometimes my stomach hurts so bad because of nasty ingredients and vibes, even in restaurants with over 4.5 stars. But This is always my all-time favorite place, and I feel like travel Italy ❤️👍

Fantastic dining experience. Small plates, good wine list, yummy mixed drinks and tasty desserts. We had the veal meatballs, salmon, roasted peppers, artisan sausage, and caramelized banana dessert, plus drinks. Excellent service and absolutely incredible food. The roasted peppers were perfectly charred, the salmon cooked with capers and cherry tomatoes that were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Great selection, fast service and pleasant atmosphere indoors and out. Popular place so get there early (5-6pm) or make a reservation.

We had multiple small plates and wine during our visit and everything was great. Wine questions were answered completely. The tables are pretty close together and the bar is loud but it wasn’t an issue for us, I’m just pointing it out in case you’re looking for something more intimate.

Not pretentious at all. Staff seem to like their job and enjoy the customers. Great food, awesome atmosphere. Waiter was very helpful and kind. 💕 Highly recommend. And the pizza is amazing. Or so thinks my husband. And the salad with goat cheese and shrimp was spectacular. So tired of frozen rubbery shrimp. This place actually serves fresh shrimp and a great salad. We were 5 days new to Chicago. Glad we found it. This place will spoil you and other places will pale in comparison.

Cute restaurant with ample indoor and outdoor seating. Portions are small which I liked. Fresh, authentic food didn’t leave me feeling heavy as other Italian restaurants do. Fettuccine Alfredo was delish. Try the tiramisu for dessert but share it. Quite large but oh so yummy. Restroom was upstairs which is a problem if you can’t climb the stairs. Didn’t see an elevator, but didn’t ask. Will definitely return.

Very lively atmosphere, but it definitely adds to the charm! I love the fact that the plate/portion sizes are smaller so you could really sample the menu. The imported and house made pastas are delicious, and I love the sauce and dough of the pizza. Perfectly well done! You shouldn't leave here without having dessert! I highly recommend visitng at least once when you are in the windy city. You won't be disappointed!

This Italian gem in Chicago will transport your taste buds to a world of shared flavors! With each plate costing around $15, you can savor a variety of delectable dishes with your loved ones. The pizza dough is a divine creation that I'm almost certain has a cheese infusion, resulting in a heavenly combination of crunch, saltiness, and flavor. Don't miss out on the tiramisu—it's an absolute must-try! Step inside, and you'll be transported to an old-world Italian restaurant, with traditional decor that immerses you in the ambiance of another country. Be aware, though, that if you prefer a quieter atmosphere, this bustling spot may not be for you. Even at 10:30 pm, the place was packed. However, the wait for the food was surprisingly short. Lastly, the staff here is incredibly friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall warmth of the experience. Don't miss this delightful culinary adventure in Chicago's dining scene!

A good establishment with tasty food and a nice ambience. A couple of us went for the pizzas, which were great. The rest of our group had some great pasta dishes and salads. Essentially you won’t be disappointed in whichever dish you choose, but I felt the pizzas won the show. The cost is a little pricey but you are in the centre of Chicago and you’ll definitely get your moneys worth.

It’s a very lively and bustling restaurant with amazing food and even better prices! The dishes are a bit smaller, but they’re meant to be shared like tapas. The tapas styled dishes were great because we were able to order a bunch of different plates and try a little bit of everything. Although our server was very busy, she was still very quick, attentive and extremely friendly. I was very pleased with her wine recommendation as well. I highly recommend calling in advance or making a reservation to secure a table.

We went to Quartino’s as a birthday dinner. I will admit, our experience didn’t start off great. We had an 8:30 reservation and had to wait about 35 minutes to get sat. We couldn’t sit outside due to a lack of servers I believe. Inside was very hot and loud, but that’s expected for an open kitchen layout on a Saturday night. We got sat and could immediately notice our server, Julian I believe was his name, just got several tables all at once. The manager came over and was nice enough to get us started with drinks and explain the menu while we waited. We ordered a TON of half portions. It was so much food and every dish was better than the next. I highly recommend the slider, gnocchi, clams, and mussels. Julian was absolutely fantastic. He made sure to constantly check up on us and even brought us over a little birthday sorbet (without singing thank god). Definitely will be requesting him out next time back in!

Came here on a Thursday night and the restaurant was clean, inviting, and service was great. Sat in the bar area with Latoya who was accommodating, friendly, made recommendations and provided excellent service. Ordered the chicken soup which was hearty and hot, definitely recommend. The burrata and veal slider were also great. Overall had such a good experience. Would definitely go back. Don’t miss out!

This place is great. Food is served family/sharing style, similar to tapas. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, but I would recommend making reservations ahead of time especially on the weekends. The bar area is open seating/first come first serve. There is outdoor and indoor seating. We decided to sit outside since it was a nice day. Our server was excellent. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wines. He recommended a great full bodied red wine that was easy to drink and paired well with our dinner. We ordered the Chicken Parm, Penne Al Vodka, and Calamari. The food came out in the order that it was ready so it was great to be eating and continuously getting the rest of the order delivered to the table. The Chicken Parm was good. Honestly, not my favorite order though. It tasted a little bland with a burnt taste to it and the chicken was very thin. The Penne Al Vodka was decent. Very filling and flavored well. It was creamy and delicious. The calamari was good. It was fried just right and tasted delicious. The restaurant was clean. The restrooms were clean. The restaurant has a great old school Italian ambiance to it. Parking is limited to street or garage parking wherever available nearby. I would recommend this spot.

I had an amazing experience! The restaurant was extremely clean, the food was fresh, the outdoor seating was the perfect temperature to eat without having my coat on, and every person I came in contact with was so friendly and helpful. The servers brought out the food fresh from the kitchen as it was prepared and didn't wait to bring everything all at once (major bonus), and complimented us on our selections. Our waiter William was exceptionally knowledgeable of the items on the menu and gave us wonderful suggestions for our meal and for future visits. The food options seemed to be unlimited and yet everything we ordered was so delicious! I cannot wait to come back!

This was our first time visiting since the pandemic, and I have to hand it to Quartino; they are doing it right! We were seated outside for lunch and the manager came out immediately to arrange the heaters around our table. Within 15 minutes of sitting down, our wine and first course had been delivered to the table and the rest of the meal went just as smoothly. We tried four dishes, with our favorites being the house-made goat cheese spread and Italian cheese-blend fondue, and each was delivered piping hot. Given the chilly temperatures they didn't stay that way for long, but it wasn't too big of a deal considering how quickly they were eaten! If you're looking for a fun tapas experience with great customer service, don't hesitate to give Quartino a try!

I went here with some colleagues. The place was packed and there was a wait even with our reservation. However, it was worth it! The food was incredible as was the service! We all walked away stuffed and satisfied! I recommend the homemade pasta!

We went without a reservation and got a table of 2 without wait amidst a busy night, but I highly recommend reserving ahead. We ordered funghi pizza, risotto, pasta , wine and melted chocolate cake dessert. The plate sizes are small so you can order multiple things if you are a foodie like me and don’t believe in eating less when eating out 😛. The foods were delicious, wine was good . Good service. Good choice

Nick was such an amazing guy he was such fun to talk to. He had amazing recommendations and the experience would not have been complete without him. The food was amazing. The calamari was so fresh and great. The Diablo shrimp, the mushroom pizza, the pappardelle and the Australian steak were all soo soo good. And the tiramisu was also very light and tasty.

Beautiful Italian restaurant with fantastic prices! It does get a bit crowded and loud since the tables are close together but I understand why with how popular it is. Although it would be a nice date spot, with how loud it is in there I recommend more for friend or family outings! The food was fantastic as well. The portions are definitely share size which makes the food a great deal. Overall a great experience!

The food was delectable & my server, Luke, was absolutely kind & gracious the entire time. I often worry going to a restaurant as a party of one that I won't get the same level of service that a larger table would get but Luke was incredibly attentive even through a remarkable rush that came in at the time of my reservation. He recommended some excellent dishes & let me know I could get half portions if I wanted to try a variety. I'd like to commend all of the staff for their calmness & professionalism during that rush at what was the end of the day for the kitchen. I will absolutely come here again next time I visit Chicago. The only reason the atmosphere gets 4 stars is because my table was a bit close to the wall & to the tables directly to either side of mine. Due to not liking having my back to a main throughway, this meant I was a bit crowded in my seating location & couldn't easily get into or exit my seat. I didn't want to adjust the table because the only viable way for it to move was towards the main walkway which would impede the servers & bussers. As a disabled individual (its an invisible disability so staff would not have known & I didn't list it in my reservation) ease of accessibility in regards to my seating is something I regularly consider. I will likely try to return during a less busy time of day to mitigate this.

I’ve been to Quartinos a handful of times, and the food is always consistent - all the food is pretty good, but nothing special. The Penne Alla Vodka, Eggplant Parmigiana, and mushroom pizza are my go-to. This place is open pretty late, so it's an excellent place to eat post-games! I’ve been here for a few birthdays, and they can host large parties, which is nice!

Delicious food, would definitely make changes to the environment though. Quartino was delicious! It was everything you could expect out of a nice, city restaurant. Our table got the linguine and clams (with white sauce which was SO good), mussels, fettuccine alfredo, and some dessert. All of it was fantastic. Great portions and honestly quite affordable. The only thing I would warn against is the atmosphere. This restaurant is LOUD and CROWDED. If you have individuals in your party who are sensitive to sound or you’re trying to have a cute, intimate dinner, this is NOT your place. The instant we were seated, the noise level was overstimulating and I’m not usually one who has sensory issues. The tables were also packed super close together. It wasn’t a problem at the end of the day, but it made it hard to hear others and is something to note.

They have hand made pastas with various kinds of pastas. Would highly recommend to book in advance on the busy hours. They are always packed during weekends or Friday nights. Service was very friendly and nice. Second floor is perfect for group of people or large groups.

Great wine selection. Olives were yummy. The zeppole were bomb. Perfectly paired with an espresso martini! I'd try some of their seafood next time.

Really awesome fresh Italian food, small-medium plates for sharing and reasonable prices for the downtown! Super fast service food came out quick and waiter was nice. They brought us extra bread for a small charge when we didn’t ask for it, but we loved all three types of bread and the dipping oil. Cool environment including bathrooms inside, outside was pretty noisy just being right on the street but a lively environment nonetheless. Open late too. Great experience!

Great place and great food. The prices are pretty reasonable. However, this place gets really packed. Service may be a bit slow due to the number of customers, but we had a really good server. Reservation is a MUST! I also suggest Uber or Lyft.

We stopped in because it was one of the few restaurants open late on a Thursday evening. Apparently that's their thing (#lateonState) and I'm so glad we found it. The service is amazing, the ambience is cozy, and the food is delicious! From the insanely long wine menu to the awesome desserts, come hungry!

We sat outside, the environment and temperature is good. The pasta recommended by the waitress is amazing (couldn’t recall the exact, the one with salty meat slices)! Beef short rib is also good, very soft and delicious sauce. We ordered the shrimp but found it was a bit too spicy for us.

Best place by far in alll of my trip in Chicago, the pesto gnocchi and margarita pizza was to die for. Spilled wine and they gave me some extra for free! Service is truly something else.

I like the reservation app, valet was attentive, and host was focused. Server was kind, made suggestions, checked in enough without hovering. Food is EPIC, ambiance is amazing, and energy is high. Love how all the employees are happy and collaborate together! Did I say the food is EPIC? Pricing is a good value, and I'm so happy I chose Quartino for date night before the show. Will be back again soon!

It's a decent Italian place. We were excited about the small plates. My favorite of all was their Caesar Salad. One of the best I have ever had. Aside from that, we tried a few small plates but another worthy mention will be their Risotto. Cooked to perfection and has decent enough meat and vegetables in it. We tried the polenta cakes but it wasn't necessarily something people were excited about. Also they were super hot and I wish the server would have given us the heads up and prevented one of us burning their tongue. Service could have definitely been better compared to what we got. We had to ask several times even to get a check.

Great place to get Italian. Food was well made and tasted great. We sat inside and it felt a little stuffy - might’ve been due to dim lighting. Our server Latoya had great recommendations for us when we had questions about the menu and was overall amazing.

Quartino is a must when in Chicago. The food, service and atmosphere is superb. We started with the salumi salad. We had the tortellini and pappardelle braised beef pasta. They were both excellent the best I’ve had. You can taste authentic flavors and ingredients in there dishes. We ended with the Gran Coppa Quartino dessert.

  • 4/5 M W. 3 years ago on Google
Not the best Italian I’ve tried in Chicago, but not bad overall, especially considering the cheap price. Duck Prosciutto was really good. Beef Short Rib was crazy delicious. Loved these two dishes. Salami Salad was good too, but also very oily, which I didn’t like. Linguini with Clam was way too salty than it should be. Also their sorbet was tasty, but biscotti was just average. So overall, nice flavor, but there was obvious flaws to almost every single dish. That’s why I give it a 4-star.

This restaurant undresses your taste buds, leaving the napkin dropped on the table at long last like your favorite little black dress. Cool, still water is the first to grace the table, followed by fresh bread, olive oil, sea salt, and Modena balsamic vinegar. My drink saunters over in a glass straight out of a Fitzgerald novel, a neat Supersamic martini, coupling gin with fragola (strawberry liqueur), smacked basil, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, and salt and pepper. What a marriage of flavors....sweet, strong, and packed with bold flavors. The table begins to fill like the plot details in a novel. Next comes the trifecta of Castelvetrano olives with rosemary accents, duck prosciutto (sliced as thin as paper), and mostarda, a condiment of candied fruits and mustard-flavored syrup. I’m smitten, but not before I have a chance to mingle with the second appetizer, a house-made goat’s milk ricotta. The honey drizzle is the icing on the cake. It’s as if cannoli gave up some of its sweetness and kissed a hint of sassy oregano. The main course made its grand entrance next. The fusili pasta arrived in a blanket of tomato sauce, covered with ribbons of basil and dollops of fresh ricotta.... As much as I wanted to finish the meal off with a dessert....I had to save it for another rainy day. Your Chicago experience would be lacking without a trip to Quartino. The experience, the food, and the ambiance will definitely leave an impression. Don’t miss out!

I ordered the Steak with Half Cheddar and Half Poblano Sauce and they were both AMAZING! The sandwiches are huge, they put so much meat it's literally falling out of the bread while you're eating it. The bread is the perfect bread for this sandwich. It's soft on the inside with a slight chew on the outside and it's the perfect meat to bread ratio .

Great Italian place in downtown Chicago. The theme is small plate Italian which allows you to try a bit of everything. We ordered five dishes for two and everything was great. Best place I have been to near the magnificent mile (Chicago native). Portions were perfect. Service was great. It is a crowded and busy restaurant, so be prepared but the foot is worth the and the atmosphere is fun for a night.

Its my first time out having a child and during this pandemic. I couldn't have picked a better place to go!! Not only did I feel safe and comfortable with the procedures they have in place to make my son and self feel welcome and comfortable. The staff ( Cole) server, ( Hugo) busboy and managers ( Micheal, Ashley, Trevor) were amazing!!! A LONG WITH THE FOOD!!!!!! Can't think of a better place to go. We will be back soon!!

Would definitely recommend 👍

The chivalry of this restaurant is astronomical. I left my umbrella at the table and before I made it back to the car, the host texted me through my Open Table reservation and informed me they had my umbrella. Unmatched service. Amazing food. Strongly recommend an espresso martini. That’s all. 💯 P.S. You can get the espresso martinis to-go if you are looking for an at home experience.

Haven’t tried Italian in Chicago! It was tasty. Make sure to make reservations, it was packed when we came. We ordered no appetizers because we had a feeling that the portions were going to big. We did order half a carafe of wine since it was the same price as 2 glasses. I got their clam linguine and it was really good. Lots of noodles and lots lots of clams! I could not eat it all but didn’t have a fridge in the hotel to take it back. My friend got a half order of the mushroom risotto and half of the pappardelle. Next time if I know about half portions, I can try more!

Excellent customer service!! Wow, they are willing to go out of their way to serve you. We couldn’t have any wine in our food and they were so willing to accommodate us. They kept going back and forth to the chef, making sure we were happy. Especially Jake and Elizabeth, they both worked together to give us outstanding hospitality and a warm feeling that they really valued and respected our needs. I have not experienced this type of wonderful service and great affordable food in the city. Burrata was excellent, their pizza is amazing, gnocchi was also good. Do come to this place!!!

Even tho it's Covid in Illinois, this restaurant still had dining. We sat in their outer room, luckily warm enough. The choices of food were excellent. And their drinks were delicious. Never felt rushed by server. A great place to share plates.

Anyone who walks into this place is lucky… lucky to have found such a great establishment. I couldn’t believe how many tortellini you get, it’s absolutely insane. And the plate being lined with quality prosciutto. Just heaven on a plate. Great deal pricewise.

Their chicken soup and 🍕 is really good !! But service was not upto the mark. We were rushed the entire time. We felt that our table did not receive appropriate silver ware and basic stuff where as other tables had it. We had to ask for everything. One of the servers was super rude. The main server forgot to get our soft drinks. I have been to better Italian restaurants than this for better price!!!

I started getting pizzas regularly here to support the neighborhood restaurants. They don't have four seasons anymore, but if you order Vegitarina pizza, it comes with fresh arugula topping (ask them to put arugula on the side for pick-up or delivery to enjoy fresh arugula on the pizza). Still best pizzas in town.

Incredible place !! More than 5 stars deserved. 1st of all, they are open during this Covid. The pizza and the driks were great. Not to talk about prices Are extremely low for a downtown italian restaurant !!! Great food and tasty

One of my favorites! Everything I’ve tried has been delicious and the staff has always been so nice. Highly recommend their Pappardelle and eggplant parm (take that from someone who hates eggplant!)! The soups are very good too.
