We had a reservation so we were promptly seated; however, we waited 60 minutes before walking out because not a single waiter bother to take our order. Get this, as soon as we sat down, they asked us to move so they can make room for a big group. The group arrived 30 minutes after we were seated, and they were served first. If I could give them zero stars I would. This was the Valentine weekend 🥲 I showed the manager this review so there would be room for interpretation nor denial. We were offered free food, but nothing in their menu could make up for the disrespect.

I just moved here recently from Detroit and to be honest I’m from the suburbs of Detroit and I moved directly into the suburbs of Chicago. I remember telling my my mom I feel like I didn’t move, I don’t feel like I’m in Chicago, everything looks the same. So one can only imagine how I felt once I walked through the doors of Carnivale. Roughly about an hour away from Naperville area, I was delighted to see that this was definitely in the heart of Chicago. Even more it felt like I walked into a Cuban time warp the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant. The colors, the music, the vibe, the staff, all 5 star experiences. Being in COVID ready places where I can still enjoy myself is a rare commodity these days and this place spared no corners when it came to safety as we were asked for our vaccination cards before we could even pass go or collect $200 (or in this case, spend it lol). Once in the dining area we were attended to and waited in hand and foot. I mean they literally watched us make up our mind and then approached us with hospitality and our food came very fast and was so incredibly delicious and fresh. No need to ask a waiter for nothing, you hear me nothing. If I thought it, it was there. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a “must be psychic” ad when they hired the staff as they literally took the thought process out of the entire night. This was my first Chicago dining experience and in my opinion, it’s a must do if you’ve never tried this place out. This will be one of many visits, I can reassure you that! Carnivale Surely lived up to its name, a grown and sexy place where the adults can actually enjoy themselves on a night well deserved. Come here on payday too cause uh, yeah, just come here on payday Chile.

First time visiting this restaurant and decided to dine outdoors. The food was fantastic, hot and presented well. The plantains were cooked to perfection!!! 🙌🏾👍🏾🙏🏾 The service could have been a little better but nothing to make me not return.

Carnivale was such a fun experience! The moment you walk in you will step in to this colorful and vibrant world of Carnivale. The place is huge with different rooms having their own unique decor. This place is perfect for girls night, date nights, celebrations etc. We went here for dinner and made reservations ahead of time. As we walked in we checked in with the host and were quickly seated. I was blown away by the variety in the menu and absolutely loved that they had so many HALAL options. We started with a dozen oysters (6 east coast and 6 west coast) and they were fantastic.The oysters were so fresh, I am partial towards the east coast ones. We also had the seafood paella, charcoal roasted chicken and a side of sautéed spinach. The paella was delicious, it was bursting with flavors. I could keep eating that. The chicken was also splendid and perfectly grilled, loved the stew that accompanied it. Even the sautéed spinach was amazing. Finally we finished our meal with the 16 years of chocolate cake and was blown away by it. Our server Valentino was amazing and made the best recommendations. Overall an incredible dining experience. Strongly recommend this to anyone looking for excellent food, drinks, vibe, and service in Chicago.

I had a great experience dining at carnival. The atmosphere was festive, and don't get me started on the dancing... so fun. The food was above average, and the mixed drinks were amazing. I would definitely think of this place as my go-to place for celebrations and party's. Eating here will get you in a festive mood quickly, but if quiet and romantic is on your mind, think elsewhere. Definitely coming back.

Main dining room was beautiful, but we got seated in the corner of the upstairs room, which took away from the experience a bit. Kale and Brussels salad was missing Brussels, so the meal was off to a rocky start. I really enjoyed the ropa vieja with plantains. Very tasty and unique. I got a seafood platter which is what I expected from it, but if I were to return I will definitely try one of their specialties or meat entrees. We finished off our meal with the ice cream cake. It looks pretty in picture, but tasted fresh out the freezer. It was not spongy, and not as enjoyable to eat as the other options available. Overall pretty decent meal, but the price point doesn’t have me eager to come back any time soon

It is a cool atmosphere, had a wonderful time with friends if I would have gone on a Friday it would have been more entertaining with performances. I will have to try that out sometime. The food was decent but not the best I ever had. I give them five stars because of the atmosphere and the service was excellent and the drinks we're really good and kept coming. Probably a cool place to bring a date.😻

This is one of my favourite places in Chicago to take out-of-towners to! Every serve we have gotten has not only been top-tier, but so friendly, funny, and welcoming. The food is nothing shy of excellent either, I’ve been here a couple times and every new thing we try has been amazing. The portions are always large, and the different flavours never fail to surprise us. It can be a little pricey, but only because you’ll want to try everything on the menu! Cannot recommend this place enough!

The staff was very attentive and knew the menu inside and out! The drinks were fun and delicious. I was celebrating my birthday and they made me feel very special. And the place is beautiful! Loved the cotton candy and sparkler in the cake they brought me. Great experience. Will for sure be back

This place is absolutely stunning, it’s Festive!!! The customer service was great, bartender made me a strawberry/mango Margarita that was delicious!! Our waiter Pete was great. Food was delicious especially the calamari as our appetizer. We had an amazing date I will definitely come back

This place is a great spot to come and enjoy an amazing meal. Great place for date night or meeting up with a group of friends. The seafood tower was great everything was so fresh. Wagu steak was cooked perfectly great drinks rum punch was very good. Service was excellent.

Great tasting Latin American food! Everything we tried from their menu was finger licking good! Our host was well informed and helped us choose the right things to order! Service was fast and ambiance is true to the name of the place! Feels like you’re transported to a carnival. Limited street parking available right around the corner and they also have valet parking.

Their chicken (3rd pic) was very delicious, but their seafood was not very fresh. Enjoyed their drinks and cotton candy. Love the environment and a lot of good photo places. Would visit again.

I’m giving them 3 stars because we found hair in our food otherwise it would have been 5. Overall loved the decor, the food was good, came in large portions. Had good halal options as well. Guacho steak was on point 👌🏼. Corn was ehhh (not like the Mexican street corn) definitely must try the coconut shrimp.

Had a fantastic night here with my partner for our anniversary. The place is beautifully decorated , extremely colorful, just has such a fun chill vibe and there’s so many photo ops! Our waitress was impressive and so friendly and attentive. The food was wow especially the appetizers the calamari it was well made, not too salty like other places! Great ambiance, easy to have a conversation as the music was not overbearing, and was lovely chill music! My partner had the salmon and I had the seafood paella for entrees and those were cooked to perfection. Had a fantastic anniversary date night here. Only reason I’m docking one star is I had reached out to carnivale weeks ago about doing something special for our anniversary ie decorating the dessert with happy anniversary or even a free dessert, like other restaurants do. They acknowledged they would but when we got there and through the night nothing was acknowledged. Wasn’t a big deal but would have been nice as my partner likes those kinda things and would have appreciated it. But that didn’t dampen the mood, it was an overall great night and will definitely be back!

This place is awesome. The service is on point, the atmosphere is so fun and colorful, and all of the food absolutely delicious. Chef even came to check how the food was. I'd definitely love to come back here. I'd love to see one of the performances they have.

What an amazing experience Carnivale is! I got here a little early for a dinner reservation and headed to the bar first! The drink selection was amazing. The food was superb. We started with ropa viena and coconut shrimp—both were absolutely delicious! We then shared an order of seafood paella and it tasted amazingly fresh. Marco our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the foods and drinks. He made us feel welcome. At the end of dinner, we ordered the banana pecan cake—it was WOW! It was an overall amazing experience. I will definitely come back and recommend this place.

Beautiful, Fun, Colorful, Sexy atmosphere. The food offerings are delicious. My friends and I did a couples night with 5 couples. We did a family style meal and everything on the menu selection was delicious. No complaints from anyone only rave reviews.

A manager that every business should have…here’s why: We witnessed how calm he resolved the issues of a rude and unruly guest that night, making us feel and safe throughout the night. Our group of 6 got seated in a table away from the fun and lively vibe of this restaurant, first request to change table with the lady who seated us was denied…just because of the size of our group she said she cannot give us another table…I got up and was told that Luis is the manager to talk…Luis didn’t deny our group right away but instead showed us the next room where he can accommodate us. What a great customer service! Luis, upon knowing that we are there to celebrate my daughter’s 20th birthday, went out of his way to offer us great service…above & beyond our expectations and experience from other restaurant of this class! Everything we ordered tasted awesome …Wagyu beef, Gaucho Steak, Brazilian Churrasco, Lamb Chops, Seafood Paella and Charcoal Roasted Chicken! Desserts: ice cream cake and banana pecan toffee cake…superb to the last piece…16 layer chocolate cake & cotton candy on a glass of caramel popcorn are ok too! We’ll be back for more celebration for sure!

Soft ambience, lovely decor and photos on the walls. Food was delightful and very delicious. Our wait staff was excelley6and made some reccomendation that we tried and enjoyed.

Everything was WONDERFUL! I brought my bf here on a date and it was everything I could have hoped for and more. The food, drinks, staff, and atmosphere was really amazing. I will be back when I am in town again! Food recommendations would be the seafood rower for two, cotton candy martini and Tres Leches which was so delicious.

We came here to celebrate my daughter’s 16th birthday. Everybody had a great time. The food was decent. The service was great. Their desserts were delicious (especially the chocolate cake). This is the type of restaurant you should experience. They also give us complimentary cotton candy and caramel popcorn.

This place in Chicago is a MUST GO. It’s beautiful inside! The place itself without food is entertaining enough. their food and drinks however...are amazing and the service is top notch. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed.

Me and some friends went there to celebrate her mother s birthday. We had a reservation and we were seated within 5 minutes. Our waiter Sebastian was excellent! He took our order without a pen and paper. Excellent memory on that guy. We ordered the appetizer it came quickly and then we ordered our entree and the food came out so fast. I loved the music and the atmosphere. It was a fun experience. Well worth the money we spent.

The atmosphere was the best part! I felt complete awe while walking around, so colorful with a vibrant energy! Our waitress Geneva was incredibly sweet, upbeat and recommended delicious dishes! Started with some drink, i will say i DO NOT RECOMMEND the Cotton candy martini. Tastes like someone ate a lot sugar then spit into your mouth. But the presentation was cute. We were beyond impressed with our meals! I got the Brazilian churrasco which had so much flavor and my bf got the lobster paella which has SO much, there was leftovers 2 for meals! And who doesn’t want leftovers of amazing food!? For dessert we had the tres leches which was a full on presentation and display!! It was awesome to watch! And my bf got the chocolate cigar which i actually enjoyed a little more than the tres leche if you’re a chocolate person! Overall such a great experience and had a wonderful time! Will definitely be returning!

First visit in the longest of time. Went for brunch, with kids, so totally missed the evening Carnivale vibe but loved the interior/decor. The food was really good, and plentiful! Planning to go back for dinner or the Drag Brunch!

Located near Fulton market. Restaurant does offer valet parking which is great because you don’t have to waste time searching for a park. Take a few steps of stairs to enter the dining area. The setting and ambience is very nice, not super fancy where is stuffy but just really nice. I had a party of nine and we were taken care of very well. Our server was Óscar, and he was very attentive to our large table. As a bonus, we had the privilege of meeting chef Carlos and the owner Billy, who were all extremely nice. There were a variety of dishes ordered, and not one complaint. the cotton candy martini was amazing and so was the Caipirinha. Highly suggest those for drinks. We had several appetizers, but I must say these shrimp quesadillas are by far the best out of any I’ve ever tried. We ordered lamb, paella , with and without meat, seafood platter. Everything was delicious and I highly recommend this establishment.

Customer service nonexistent. Our waiter Angel NEVER came back to check on us, refill water, we were celebrating 2 women birthdays that night. The manager came over to over courtesy guacamole and chips the 1st time he went M.I.A. He kept catering to all the other races. We all felt ignored and perhaps he was prejudice. There was a manager heavy set 6'4 Hispanic he kept checking the tables but not once came over to us. It was our first time there, food was SUPERB!However, due to the Customer service we'd never go back or recommend it of anyone African-American.

We had a work dinner at this venue and it was wonderful. They had a private space right off the main room with curtains that allowed access to the greater restaurant with some privacy as well. The servers were so kind and attentive. The food was truly amazing and with our private event/menu set up in a very easy to serve family style way. On top of that, there was impressive live entertainment. Definitely recommend!!!

Love this place. The vivid colors make it so much fun. The service was great. The food was excellent. We started with the tomato salad and coconut shrimp, yummy. Moved on to the octopus and Bone in Ribeye, both very good. Complimented with a couple of tiki drinks, I was very pleased. Finished with Baked Alaska and a cigar dessert, both outstanding.

Food was delicious a bit pricey but overall it was good. This place is beautiful on the inside and outside! Very colorful and inviting inside. Couldn’t help but keep looking around at all the colors,decorations and pictures! Music was great. Our waitress was great very nice and attentive and mention great food recommendation. The Ropa Veija was my favorite! They also have valet parking as well.

Always have a good time when I visit. We were there for the pajama brunch - so fun. Our server was charismatic and accommodating. Great atmosphere, perfect for date night, or just drunch. If you haven't been you have to visit, also try to catch a show.

The food was fair enough and the desert was Great. I've had bigger bang for the buck but with out a doubt this place has charm. The atmosphere was beautiful colorful and welcoming. The service was top notch attentive but not over the top. My family and I had an outstanding experience.

Came here to check it out as a potential venue because it is so incredibly unique that I couldn’t not at least see it in person. It. Is. INCREDIBLE! Unfortunately, it will not fit with our specific needs but I would most definitely consider it for a rehearsal dinner or possibly a work event. They have so many different side rooms and ways they can separate rooms. Each side room has such a different feel or vibe as well. When we went to look, the whole restaurant was being rented out for a company outing. While we went to look at it as a venue this is still on my top list of places I need to check out for dinner when I get back. They host different events for dinners like live entertainment, Sunday brunches as well as holiday themed events so it is more of an experience than just a place to go for dinner. And I am obsessed with the Carnivale theme and fun colors throughout the whole interior. Obviously the cuisine & craft cocktails is yet another point on my list of why I want to come for dinner, I am assuming those too will be more of an experience then just a meal and drinks.

For over a decade I’ve heard good things about this place. I FINALLY had the change to check them out this past Restaurant Week 2022. The space is gorgeous and the vibrant colors does resemble a Carnivale in Rio. But the food…I’m sorry, but I expected more. The drinks, although authentic to what I remember in my travels, were overly iced down. The food, I was looking for a “Pop” that I never really got. All items were appetizing, but IMO a little lacking. I do find it hard to believe such a popular place can underdeliver. I’ll give them one more shot.

Amazing atmosphere!!our server Omar was supper attentive and very knowledgeable on their menu. Food was great ... drinks were on point. I had mango margaritas 🍹 and appetizers... the interior looks very appealing with a carnival theme .. on certain days they have performances with zamba dancers and aerial fabric performers. I definitely recommend.. dress to impress ! Or not either way it's a great spot to go to fir drinks and or food

Lovely place, and great people. Staff was phenomenal and accommodating. They went out of their way to prepare for a dinner I was having. Food was great as well. Highly recommended location.
