Viaggio is so delicious and I was very happy with my experience. My family and I had a reservation (I also recommend making one) and were seated at a large table right on time. Our waiter and the host were both extremely friendly, personable, and made the experience so enjoyable! It’s hard to go wrong with any of the food items on the menu. For a party of 6, we ordered 6 different things on the menu and were all extremely impressed by both the quality and quantity of each plate. The Chicken Milanese, Chicken Parmesan, Eggplant Parmesan, Spaghetti Carbonara, and Rigatoni with Sunday Pork Gravy were all delicious - to name a few! The prices are also very reasonable for the portion sizes provided. I will be visiting Viaggio again very soon and I highly recommend it!!

To put it simply amazing service, great food. The menu is diverse with a wide range of choices. The staff is great and prompt. The ambience is amazing and overall a very welcoming place. One of the best itialian places I have visited in Chicago.

This place is amazing! We decided to get dinner here for my husband's birthday and they did not disappoint! Everything about this place was great from the service to the food, we were impressed. Shout out to Nico for an amazing experience! We're definitely coming back again!

Kind of a strange experience when we dined at Viaggio in 2022. The food was certainly above average, from the complimentary bread to the sizeable portions of chicken parm and pasta. The pasta was a bit overcooked, but overall the sauce was very good and the food was well seasoned. I'd be pretty happy to have this at my local Italian spot, more of a homestyle meal than what you might expect to find across the street at Monteverde. But, the prices tell you that you are eating at Monteverde. The atmosphere, and the quality, don't. I guess I just don't know what this place wants to be. Are we fine dining, or are we a sports bar? It seems to want to be both, and it just doesn't make any sense. This wasn't table service where wine choices are suggested with your entree, this was more like a bar that happens to serve good Italian food. In fact, our waitress really didn't even seem to know anything about the offered wines. And hey, I'm all for a more casual atmosphere, but then I shouldn't expect to pay $100 for two entrees and two glasses of wine. The food? Pretty close to four stars. The ambience? A solid 2. If you're spending the money, you're better off going across the street. If you just want a nice, homestyle Italian meal, and want to get in under $60, head a little north to Tutto Fresco.

Had a good time with friends but... Veal parm was okay. Tortellini that came with the parm was garbage. Carbonara was garbage. It tasted like grocery store pasta with frozen peas. Waiter never came either and took 3 attempts to tell me what the rissoto of the day was even though he wrote it down. Waste of money. Have had much better Italian food in Chicago for half the price as well. Definitely not 4.7 outta 5 based on Google reviews. You can even see in the photo how bland this carbonara was for 26 bucks. Thanks Marco

The ATMOSPHERE was FABULOUS, Dave the owner was very friendly; kept us entertained and was the PERFECT HOST. Our waiter Nenad was AWESOME. NOW let's get to the food there are not enough adjectives to describe the SUCCULENT, DELICIOUSNESS EXPLOSIVE Flavors that invaded our mouths. Was worth every penny AND ON TOP OF THAT WE GOT TO MEET TAYLOR KINNY from CHICAGO FIRE

We were planning to go to a nearby restaurant, but we were blown away by Viaggio. The service at the bar was great, the wine lift was respectable and reasonably priced, and the food was excellent; far exceeding expectations. The sausage and peppers was authentic and delicious, with an excellent crust and sauce. The veal in the veal Marsala was EXTREMELY tender, and the dish was hot, with great seasoning and pepper levels. I also appreciated that they had gluten free penne for the meal. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed Saturday dinner and there was great energy in the restaurant.

The best “neighborhood” restaurant! Delicious food with large portions. Wonderful service with 3-4 people attending to your table. The table is given a complimentary bread basket along with yummy roasted peppers, grated parmesan & olive oil. The meatball salad is a meal in itself. The Sunday gravy is too good for words. The eggplant stack appetizer is huge. It was a little rubbery this time but still crispy on the outside. Still tasty though. Seriously, one app and one entree is enough for two people. This place is a real gem. We’re so glad they stayed in the neighborhood when they moved to this new location East on Madison from where Ranali’s is now (the old West End). On a week night it’s perfect for an after work cocktail. The bar is beautiful. Dark wood and real style. $16 cocktails, $8 beers, $25 entrees. Highly recommend.

Dropped by Viaggio’s on a whim (no ressie) while visiting Fulton Market. They were sold out because of the hockey game, but the friendly owner quickly helped us with two seats at the bar. The entire experience was fantastic - plenty of suggestions on both food and wine from the owner and his great staff. The wine selection is perfection here. We really enjoyed the chicken marsala and the vodka rigatoni (added shrimp and asked to make it spicy). One of the best meals we’ve had in a while. Do yourself a favor and get the tiramisu (made in house). We will definitely be back. Thanks!!

Small, but not cramped traditional Italian. At least that I can tell lol. We were greeted by the owner, I think, and seated by the hostess. The staff was great and very attentive. They have a sizable wine list and a midranged quality bar. Their dinner menu is the star though. I had a fortuitous miscommunication with "Joe" our waiter, and received the wrong entree. It was amazing! They brought out my ordered dish shortly after, and I ate them both. The bill was very fair considering the quality of the food and Chicago prices. I will happily return to try more of the menu, and say hi to the staff!

Service was excellent. I had one of the pasta specials and it was prepared very well. Also, they made a good wine recommendation.

The food was great! They start by giving you amazing bread and roasted peppers (bread tasted homemade). Service and hostess super nice and fast. We then got their chopped salad (small) which was very good value for 9 bucks. I got nanas rigatoni, one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had. My gf got chicken Marsala— good but not as good.

Everything was so great, so happy we came here for one of our dinners while visiting Chicago. The wait staff was all extra attentive and personable. The food was stellar. We got the bruschetta to start and for main courses, I got the Chicken Parmesan and my partner got one of their specials, a lobster filled ravioli with shrimp. We loved everything about our visit here. Would highly recommend!

And all around outstanding experience at this spot in the heart of the West Loop. Feels more contemporary in this locale versus the previous one further down Madison. Food, service and atmosphere are all top-notch. Not cheap but you get plenty of food for the money and the vibe is very warm friendly and energetic. Parking can be a challenge but I would not let it deter a visit.

Loved it here, went with a friend and the hostess was very nice, gave us a booth near the bar, pretty space. The service was very good, we ordered a bottle of Ruffino, Clams, Ceasar salad and Chicken Vesuvio, blueberries cheesecake. It was a nice time, I really enjoyed the atmosphere.

We went to this place mid October. Parking was available for this area of town. Service was top of the line. Everyone was helpful and did what was expected of a superb Italian restaurant. The food was delicious. We ordered an appetizer, the fried mozzarella along with some classic bowls, and nothing short of a fine meal. Our kids loved the ravioli and the area was well set.

I wanted to love this place so badly. It’s near my house, had last minute reservations, and had a fun Italian atmosphere. We had the bruschetta and mixed green salad which were both really good. The white wine we had was great too- didn’t want a Chardonnay so we went with the Prunotto arneis and it was a good choice. Lighter than a Chard, not as tart as a Sauv Blanc. Unfortunately our entrees were really, really disappointing. I had the lasagna and it had good flavor but it was so mushy and there was just nothing great about it. I prefer my own lasagna at home. My friend had a chicken and linguini with a lemon butter sauce and it was even worse. The texture of the pasta felt like it had been sitting around all day and reheated and the chicken was rubbery. For $75 a person (shared app, shared salad, one glass of wine and an entree) it felt way over priced for the quality.

Fantastic food and dining experience. I highly recommend the chicken parm.. it comes with a beautiful tortellini and light cream sauce.. absolutely out of this world good!!

Experience was more than wonderful. Especially since it was my first time going. My family and I truly enjoyed! Those green peppers and bread were the bomb and the lemon drop drink topped it off. Thank you for the awesome service.

The atmosphere is amazing! However, the pasta I ordered was okay. The sauce was really good but the pasta closer to the bottom of the plate was chewy. I also noticed that my food came out really fast so not sure if they cooked the pasta properly. Also, I felt rushed by the staff. I can tell they were trying to get tables open.

Excellent experience from start to finish! Excited to go back to try more of the menu.

Staff was aloof. The Caprese salad was good, pasta was just OK, but the veal scallopini texture and sauce were tasteless and not good at all!! Worst part is that my credit card was charged $8 more than the total I had signed for!! Luckily, I always keep my copy and disputed the amount with my credit card company. I don't recommend this restaurant.

Nice Italian spot in the West Loop. Everything we had were good. The portions are pretty generous. Great service.

  • 3/5 Matt D. 1 year ago on Google
The drinks were good, but the food was very under-seasoned for the price; risotto was $30+ and didn't have that much shrimp, and surprisingly tasted quite bland. I've had a better experience at the old location. Also, the door staying open allowed for cigar smoke from outside to drift in, which was not the most pleasant.

Was invited by a couple of locals to join them here after a game at the United Center. It's great! This place is definitely going on the list of must visit sports when in town. Truly is a local neighborhood hangout spot. The drinks are made with love and the food is all good, no matter what you order.

We went to Viaggio to celebrate a birthday. It was a great time. The food was delicious. The lobster ravioli in pesto sauce was excellent. Our server, Joe, was extremely attentive and was always there when we needed anything. I highly recommend them.

We had our last evening meal at Viaggio, the atmosphere is awesome the service was fantastic and the owner came out to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. I had a special the was loaded with meat and vegetables. We shared a very large piece of cheesecake for dessert and we were given complimentary lemon chela. Definitely a great place to eat

Best lasagna, bar none, on the planet. I have lasagna at Italian restaurants all over the world, including Italy, and Viaggio has the best meat lasgna I've ever tasted. A great balance of meat, cheese, noodles, sauce and spices. And because of its dense consistency, it's hot to the last bite. The owner is very personable with his customers and his son is the head chef and is very talented. You got to try this place. You won't be disappointed.

Very friendly staff. Service is excellent. They check on you often to make sure you have what you need. Great selection of food on the menu. To me this seems like one of the few places in the west loop area where you can find traditional Italian pasta dishes. I had some dish with a spicy red sauce and added broccoli and spinach. My daughter had a lobster ravioli special with vodka sauce. We both loved our dishes.
