I’m currently at Gaylord’s Indian Cuisine. The website says they close at 2pm. I walked in at 1:40pm and no one greeted me at 1:43pm after staring at me I said to the staff that I would like to eat. He dismissively stated we close at 1:45pm. Perplexed I decided to write this review. I really enjoy Indian Cuisine and in the past have enjoyed Gaylord’s however; I will not come returning. This is treatment was rude and disrespectful and best. Zero customer service.

First & Foremost, This is a Beautiful Restaurant. The service is Amazing, here's a nice story especially since it was my first time here. They we're all out of Piña Colada's at the Bar but the Amazing Staff Accomodated so well that they made one Special for me. I love the hospitality & amazing service. I will definitely be coming back here many times & i would definitely recommend people to come here.... You won't be disappointed 😊😊

They are serving ready to eat food at a fine dine restaurant in one of Chicago's prime location. Attached are pictures of papdi chat (dine in) and murgh badam pasanda (to go) and naans (to go). The murgh pasanda is supposed to have cashew gravy but it is actually gravy from a ready to eat packet from a grocery store. Since it was a to go order, i could not do anything later. The Naans were burnt and old (they were heated up in a microwave) before giving us in the to go box. Have we ever seen a papdi chat like this ? When I told the server he said this is how we serve papdi chat. The manager is rude as many other people in reviews have mentioned. This kind Indian Restaurants are running a scam and a disgrace to Indian food. Hope review is helpful to people. If these things are not shared they will continue with this. I hope owner of this restaurant reads the reviews.

Well located, I was able to walk from Thompson to Graylord for fine Indian cuisine. Enjoyed every bite of my dinner. When I visited it was not busy so it took them less than 25 mns to serve me. Very kind and efficient employees. The garlic naans are to die for.

Good indian food but service needs work. We really like the appetizers here. Portions are good and priced appropriately but curry doesn’t hit the mark. Service was definitely a mixed bag. One of our servers wasn’t attentive and got us the bill even before we had a chance to order dessert after main course. Another time the service was pretty good.

Highly recommended restaurant by many. Located right on north magnificent mile. Below the ground location. Plenty of space for large groups. Buffet is supposed to be awesome however we went for dinner. Excellent taste, service and pricing.

Very attentive staff here. I used to come here as a child with my parents and I stopped in for a light lunch. I found out though that the lunch buffet only takes place on weekends so you should call 📞 ahead just in case. My server has explained to me they need more staff to have the lunch buffet back and because of Covid certain things have changed. I ordered a vegetarian option and enjoyed my chickpeas cooked in curry 🍛 cumin with a light rice to the side that comes with it. As typical of my nature I also love the mango 🥭 lassi and this particular Lassi they make here was delicious. I was quite full and took some leftovers with me to enjoy for tomorrow. The restaurant was quite empty when I arrived-- just me sitting by myself at a comfortable booth and an older gentleman dining alone at a table. Because it was quiet I received wonderful service from all the staff working here today. I like the fact that their menu is extensive so if you're a meat 🍖 eater you have plenty of choices and if you prefer vegetarian fare then you will be pleasantly surprised to see so many options. Very clean and I hope to see their business thrive 🙏

Liked this restaurant offering Indian cuisine in the heart of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. The ambience is fantastic, good array of buffet items for lunch, great professional staff. Being an Indian , though I felt the food lacking the authenticity , still I would rate the restaurant 5 stars for their overall performance.

If you like spicy food I definitely recommend this place. The service was exceptional and the managers were there checking and making sure everything was good. I asked for a little rum with my Mango drink and wooh it was great and strong. Definitely coming again soon.

I had ordered 1 paneer tikka and 2 garlic naan, but the experience was disappointing. The paneer tikka lacked spice, and the garlic naan tasted like plain flour with no garlic flavor. Additionally, the portion of paneer tikka was surprisingly small, not filling the entire box. The food arrived after a lengthy wait, suggesting it was prepared just before delivery. I strongly advise against ordering from this restaurant, as the quality did not match the price paid.

We visited Gaylord restaurant (100 E Walton St, Chicago) yesterday for an important event / celebration. The service was extremely poor, however, the wait staff was courteous. We asked the staff to take our order however, it seems like the only owner/manager was authorized to take the order. We asked the manager to take our order, and he said he will be back, however, he did not come back for 20 more minutes. We tried to flag / wave at him multiple times, however, he completely ignored us. Finally, we had to walk up to him, ask him to take our order which he finally did. It took another 25 minutes to bring our food to our table. Meanwhile I noticed that many people who came after us got their food and were done before we even got our food! We chose this restaurant based on a friend’s recommendation; therefore, we did not check online reviews for this restaurant although, several people have complained about their poor experiences with this restaurant. The food was mediocre as well. No one came to ask us how the food was. The manager was behaving as if he was doing a favor to us. At least, the manger (or the owner) needs to be trained in customer service and basic interactions with customers. I visit Chicago frequently for both business and personal reason, I am certainly never going to this place again.

My order of 1 paneer tikka and 2 garlic naan turned out to be a letdown. The paneer tikka lacked spice, and the garlic naan had no discernible garlic taste, resembling plain flour. Moreover, the portion of paneer tikka was unexpectedly small, failing to fill the entire box. The prolonged wait for the food's arrival hinted that it was prepared just before delivery. I highly discourage ordering from this restaurant, as the quality did not justify the cost.

I am personally very dissatisfied with the experience of visiting this restaurant. There was just only 1 more family when I entered in peak lunch time, and later on I understood why. Firstly, the food was quite expensive in the sense that for the usual rates, the quantity was so little. For example, for a $7 spring rolls plate, they just served 3 pieces of small rolls. Adding to that, the service was so bad. Not at all following an etiquette or a cordial reception. But they nonetheless charged $12 (~20% of my bill) for their service. The only advantage it has got, and the reason I chose it is that it is so close to the Chicago 360. I'm not sure if this is their usual way or if I experienced an exception. But hope this review helps.

Great ambience, tasty food, mediocre service. I was hesitant to try this restaurant having seen the less-than-stellar reviews. Giving it a chance, we found a mostly empty restaurant on a Friday night. This meant that we got personable and speedy service. The food was really excellent. Great spice and loaded with sauce. I believe the reason for their average of 3.7 stars at the time of writing is the service. The waiters were a bit unfriendly and did not talk much. At a "fine cuisine" restuarant where you pay $20-30 per dish, I would hope that the food and service were excellent. So, if you prioritize fast and flavorful food over how you're treated, definitely try out Gaylord's! By no means was the service bad–it was only slightly negative.

I was really disappointed with my experience at the restaurant. The customer service was incredibly lacking - the staff seemed disinterested and unhelpful throughout my meal. To make matters worse, the portion sizes were incredibly small for the price. I left feeling hungry and unsatisfied. Definitely won't be returning.

Loved our experience at this place. We reached there at it's opening time in the evening, the first customers. We found the place empty. It was quiet with gentle music playing. The food was great. The service was great. Loved everything about it. Would strongly recommend to all lovers of Indian food and anyone wanting to try it for the first time.

Saturday lunch. Menu, web site and outdoor signage all say lunch buffet every day. Inside we were told no buffets ever. Poor service. Untrained younger guy, surly older guy. One star service, average food at three stars. Total experience two stars. Disappointing.

dirty, dry and bad service. the man that seated us was very rude and was annoyed that we were taking a while to go down the steps. the server was ‘horrified’ at our mild food request for two dishes and kept rolling his eyes as we ordered.the rice was very hard and obviously not fresh. the chicken was extremely dry in the three chicken dishes we ordered. bread was decent. the rice plate had hairs stuck in it and the yogurt tasted rotten. when brought to their attention we got a useless response and since we entered until we left we received extremely bad treatment. wouldn’t recommend this place as literally ANY other restaurant would be MUCH better. waited 10 minutes to see a server to order the bill when i got it they took a good 5-7 before returning the card even though they were holding the card, machine and bill with 3 people just standing over it. worst experience i have ever had at a restaurant. my toddler could cook better food than whatever the heck that was. absolutely nothing was even passable enough to consume! horrible experience waste of my time and money

People please don't go to this restaurant it's beautiful in the dinning area but it's Deceiving in the kitchen they have meat sitting on the counter the night before defrosting really they open at 4:30pm. And pots of food on the the floor open with no cover on the pots. So just to let all you people that go to this restaurant they have Tons of roaches. And this is the honest truth...

This was literally one of the worst Indian food experiences we had. We walked into an empty dining room. The guy who poured the wine had no interest in what he was doing and poured quite a bit on table. The tandoori prawns that we bought were just stale and very rubbery. It was literally old prawns! We bought a lamb biriyani as well. It tasted like lamb and rice. It was literally the worst biriyani I’ve ever had! It looks like this restaurant is run by folks that don’t want it to do well.

I have been here many times for the lunch buffet and also carried out for dinner. This location is better than the one in Schaumburg. There are great options for both vegetarians and non-veg in the lunch buffet. The fruit bar and mango kulfi are included in the lunch buffet. I have always been able to find parking on the street even if I have to circle around a few times -- it is always worth it.

Nightmare! They didn’t have patience to take our complete order. We were going to order drinks and the waiter just walked away. The food arrived like an hour after we ordered. We saw at least 3 sets of customers leave without grabbing any food. The waiter demands high tips even with such bad service. To add to all this, we sat in an atmosphere where phones wouldn’t stop ringing.

Maybe their lunch buffet is good but a la carte definitely is not We had dinner there, paneer was just horrible as a starter or as a sizzler All of the breads were just blah and customer service just not there

The food is really good. Do not ask them to spice up anything, they only add red pepper flakes to it no spices or masala. Other than that the food is good.

Service has been and always will be poor. Waited over 20 min after sitting down and nobody came. This was an empty place, yet they acted too busy to take our order or even give us complementary papadum or water. The party that came after us was automatically served with eagerness, we were just a party of two. We got up and left this place. Never will come back to Gaylord again. Do not come here. Food is mediocre, go to Indian Garden- better ambiance, delicious food, and great service.

A nightmare experience. Severely understaffed, it took 10 mins to get a table in an empty dinning room. We saw many parties leaving the restaurant without ordering food, or better to say no one came to take order. It took almost an hour and a half to get our food served on the table. Take away was not good either. There were tons of online delivery partners waiting for their packet to arrive. Not recommended.
