We found our new favorite vegan restaurant! Food was great and highly recommend you visit this place if you are looking for a vegan restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely phenomenal. The food, the service, the atmosphere, everything. This is one of the first fully vegan restaurants I've visited and it blew me away. Everyone, those vegan and those interested in exploring veganism, will find something to fall in love with on the menu. We are already planning our next date night to go back!

I am not a vegan, and I never will be. But, I was very impressed with my visit to Alice's. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is bright and welcoming, and the food had a surprising amount of flavor. If you are like me and naturally skeptical of vegan restaurants, don't be afraid. If you are a vegan, you just found a great restaurant to satisfy your needs!

The food here is so good it’s confusing. I mean, how long has this gone on without me knowing about it!? I cried eating the wonton soup, because it was simple and delicious—just like how my mom made at home. The popcorn chicken reminded me of walking through the night markets of Taiwan with friends and the mush appetizer was inhaled so quickly I didn’t even take a picture of it. Definitely don’t leave without trying every dessert on the menu!

Hands down the very best food I have eaten. Not just vegan, like any food period. Full stop. I was blown away by it. The vegan shrimp were so realistic and delicious. The vegan chicken drumsticks were out of this world delicious. I have no idea what magic they perform in the kitchen to produce such tasty food but Alice and Friends has forever raised the bar on vegan food and my own personal bar on best thing I have ever eaten. It is a must try for anyone visiting or living in Chicago. Like serious, stop reading and get in an order.

Delicious! I had the Heavenly Curry and it was so good! The portion was large so I had enough for dinner and leftovers for breakfast (yep it was that good I couldn't wait for lunch). Large portion, decent prices. Seemed to have good gluten free options as well. Edit: Returned for take out and was disappointed to receive half the portion. Edit: Returned again and it's a decent sized portion. For me it's 2 servings at least.

As a non vegan myself this place is amazing! The "shrimp" was delicious. Definitely, fooled me lol. Our entrées were very tasty. I got the pho soup which was huge with a side of mushrooms. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Such a cute restaurant.

Delicious food with a ton of flavor! Even the raw key lime cheesecake was amazing! Such a cool little vegan gem of Chicago. It's so easy to be vegan when you have a place like this.

Every time I frequent this restaurant the service is fast and friendly. Pictured is their crab rangoon & spam musubi The food here is otherworldly, the crab rangoon warms your soul and their ramen is some of the best in the city. I’ve had takeout, delivery, and dine-in from this restaurant and have never once been disappointed. Alice & Friends is truly serving some of the best vegan food in the city, all made with love.

Great Vegan kitchen❤️ I’m so glad that I finally find a restaurant that has great selection of vegan food and especially desserts. We have tried burger, dumplings, chicken skewers but i forgot the actual name on the menu and we ate tiramisu. Everything is tasty and delicious. People who works there very friendly and nice. Definitely come back💐Thanks Alice & Friends 😍

This is a cute little vegan restaurant with a big punch of awesomeness! My hubby and I enjoyed the warm service and delish food. My hubby in particular was in heaven eating the fried breaded shrimp and the special of the day cheesecake! Delish. Highly recommend!

First vegan dinner I had in Chicago, and officially my favorite in the city. Creative and delicious dishes, big menu with lots of options (was a bit overwhelmed by all the choices but the waiter had been kind and helpful when I asked for recs!). We didn't make any reservations, but we had a table outside when we got there. Not heavily decorated or fancy, but as someone who lived in SE Asia for years, it made me extra nostalgic with the style and flavors. Recommend the popcorn nuggets and Cho Mein Noodles! First stop when I come visit again, no doubt.

Food was delicious!! Authentic, flavorful, and clean. My new go to spot for Thai food. Ordered carry out - Tom Yum soup, Kee Mao, Pad Thai, and green curry dish. All were excellent. Chose 3-4+ spicy and it was perfect for my taste. I like it spicy. Go gentle (1-2+) if you're not a spice fan. Much better than any Thai restaurant in the area. I've tried them all. I will definitely order regularly. Can't wait to try other menu items. Thank you so much Real Thai - you've reminded why I love Thai food so much!

(Also known as Sherrille Lamb) The staff is always warm, gracious, and informative. I can honestly say that I haven't disliked any of the dishes that I've eaten there. And, I've been working my way through the menu "slowly, but surely". My favorite thus far is the Won Ton Soup. This soup tastes fresh, fragrant, and seasoned to perfection. I'm delighted most of all that it's close to my neighborhood; so, biking home from their location is the perfect remedy for eating too much. There's a wide variety of desserts - FABULOUS. I'm a dessert lover. I also appreciate the diversity of the menu. Please don't ever change; you're perfect just the way you are.

The best vegan joint in Chicago, no competition. Everything is vegan, the staff is so friendly and attentive, the menu is insane- there’s something for everyone, even meat-eaters would like it here. So colorful, so fresh, the food is so good, like I don’t need to give a recommendation, it’s all incredible. Losing digits from my bank account and adding digits to my waistline is all I want to do here. I’ve never wished for extra stomachs more than I do right now

I had a really great time here! The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about the food they are serving. The menus options are pretty good, with an Asian food influence on it. I had the Mac and cheese which is on the kids menu, but still a satisfying portion for adults. Portion size is a lot smaller than most restaurants though. It’s also a bring your own booze place. So my party brought in some wine, which makes it cheaper than getting a glass at a restaurant tbh. They have tons of different gluten free, soy free, nut free, sesame free, etc options.

Delicious meal. Incredible burger, no semi-chemical taste that you sometimes get with vegan patties. Phenomenal cheese. Full of flavor without relying on the condiments and toppings. Fries are crispy and yummy. The carrot cake is the best I’ve had in my 4 years being vegan. The potato and corn soup is also unbelievable. You really can’t go wrong at Alice’s.

AMAZING PLACE! This is now my favorite vegan spot in Chicago. The food, environment, and service is outstanding! I have been back here twice- the second time, my car battery died. While waiting for roadside assistance, I ordered more food for on the go- that is how good it is! I simply could not resist more of their delicious Crab Rangoon and Mango Lassi. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone with any sort of diet choices and/or restrictions. They accommodate options on their vegan food, and they offer nut-free options as well. It's a cozy little place, and has a warm environment and kind staff.

The food here was AMAZING!! The shrimp was delicious as was the crab Rangoon. We had the tonkatsu ramen and the Tom kha soups and they had wonderful flavor. All the staff was so nice and the chocolate mousse pie to end the meal was decadent and rich!

I have been coming to this restaurant for YEARS (back when the building was purple) but something is really going on with the delivery and packaging service now. First there was the delivery guy who called, claimed he left my food in front of my door and I couldn't find it. Turns out he just dropped it outside and walked away. I reported that. Now this time I got the Roasted Sesame Ramen dinner. There was sauce all over the top. I thought that was odd but assumed there was a trickle while putting it inside. Then the flap on the vegan wings wasn't fastened properly. I still shrugged it off. But then I pulled the sauce out to pour it on the ramen combination, and the sauce poured everywhere. It splashed all over my couch, my pants, the floor and the table. There was a clear slit in the bottom, and there is no way this container could be wrapped in plastic without noticing that. If the goal was to lose a customer, mission accomplished. I'm cool on them and definitely will not be visiting or ordering online again. That sauce left a permanent stain on my beige couch. All of my favorite menu items keep disappearing from the menu anyway.

I give Alice five rabbits, very clean restaurant excellent food ( first time there ) friendly staff. I tried the Kung Pao and it was great, that was my first impression, meaning I will be back soon to try other culinary specialties. The only thing I would recommend is bigger sign that is sticking out and inviting, it should stand out in that neighborhood as you are. Thanks for the great experience

Heard many good things about this Restaurant. So I had to try it for myself. The Restaurant was Open for take out & Delivery. Everything was very clean inside. I ordered through there web site on yelp to save the extra 10%. Every little bit helps during this time. I went with the Crab Fried Rice (great portion size, & plenty of crab meat), Crying Tiger Beef (was a bit dry but still enjoyable), Garlic Pork Ribs (one of my childhood favorites), Papaya Salad with Fermented Fish & Crab (loved the flavors salty, sweet, sour & spicy), & the Corn Salad (my Absolute favorite. Can't find this anywhere else in Chicago unless you make it yourself). The Service was on point. Bee was very nice & brought the food out to my car when it was finished. Will definitely, be back to try more items on the menu!!.

Superb customer service! Beautiful inside, very clean, very good food! We ordered chicken wings, grilled squid, pad Thai with chicken, and Panang curry with tofu! Everything was delicious! Pad Thai sauce could have used a little more tamarind to my liking though. I love the option to choose your own spice level! The food was perfect temperature and prepared swiftly! Also we ordered the taro and coconut cream dessert which was amazing. Never tried it before but we really enjoyed it! We’re excited to try other items and their secret real Thai menu! This places menu seems super authentic and we are very exited that they have joined our neighborhood! :)

Its not real basil but compare to all Thai restro i have been tasting, this restro is one of the best. No tomato, no broccoli and spicy enough to be Thai cusine. I ordered Som Tam Poo Plara(the Best), Tom saab kraduk Oon, Laab Kai, Krapraow Kai, Pad Thai Kai and fried pork rib, they are all yummy and real Thai taste. Recommended!!!

Omgoodness gracious I am speechless! We love Thai food and it is hard to find authentic clean flavors. We ordered for the first time and we were BLOWN away! I had the Northern Thai curry noodles, Cashew Chicken, Panang Curry, Pad Se Eew - beef (crispy noodles), potstickers, vegetable egg rolls, and Chicken Satay. First of all, let's talk about presentation. Everything came neatly packed with containers clearly labeled, the food items were plated as if you were receiving them from their hands inside of a restaurant. Now the taste, everything was spectacular. We always have leftovers...well, not today. My picky eater daughter who will always just eat two teaspoons of anything finished ALL of the Pad Se Eew. All the flavors were well balanced and clean (didn't leave a funny taste in your mouth). Nothing was greasy... not even the egg rolls and pot stickers. I highly recommend this place. I hope they have huge success so we never loose them. I can't wait to try ALL of the secret menu items.

A wonderful addition to the area food places! FRESHER, healthy, hipper fare. A "secret Thai menu" that is waiting to be explred top-to-bottom. Our Real Thai Veggie Noodles were perfect (carry-out; we live up the street). Good space that was always home to other venues that we're glad are gone. The menu is pretty long, so be brave or just plan on a lot of return visits. We LOVE Thai, and always headed to Cozy Noodle while at Cubs games. So now we have an excellent, new, happy place down the block. REAL THAI is another reason to never move! –Mark Braun, (Retired) food guru formerly of Food Industry News

Awesome food. Friendly staff and honestly very helpful. My husband and I had rode our bikes to the restaurant and I had leftovers but they usually offer a to go box that I KNOW I would’ve dropped if I tried riding with it. Also, if I had tried putting that in my bag it would’ve spilled and I would’ve been hating myself for not thinking and the whole experience. But I asked kindly IF they would happen to have a ziplock bag and she told me they were not the type of location that might have one, but that she would go to the back and look or ask for one. Well, she found one and I was able to take my delicious plate of noodles with the most amazing HOT chili I’ve ever had home. Meddles to say I ate my noodles the next day and they were SO good. My hubby and I are planning on going there again in about two more weeks. Sooooooo I’ll make sure to carry my own ziplock bag just in case. But I do and did appreciate them for trying. 🥰🥰🥰 Also, didn’t have time to take pictures of the food, because I was busy eating some of it and chatting with friends I had not seen in over a year. ♥️

I don’t typically write bad reviews as I usually give places a pass for having a bad night every now and then. Unfortunately I am compelled to write this review as it may save someone’s life. Quite simply, if you have food allergies DO NOT EAT HERE!!! First they advertise a sensitivity to food allergies indicating their ability to modify recipes and protect you from allergens. After being told by the waitress the dish that three items were allergen free for me, I picked one. I trusted her representation. The item I ordered even listed my allergens as excluded items on the menu. After the first bite of my meal my throat started to swell, I had difficulty swallowing and started to loose my voice. The chef put one of my allergens in the meal as a “garnish”. While the waitress was vaguely apologetic and said I would not need to pay for my meal, her attitude and that of the manager was nonchalant and insensitive. Of course I would not pay for the meal as I did not eat it and they could have killed me. After taking Benadryl and sleeping it off, I felt horrible still feeling the effects the next day. The managers only question later was whether I went to the hospital. Fortunately, I did not. But my anniversary was ruined and I was extremely sick. It almost seemed as though this is not such an unusual occurrence at this establishment. Or perhaps I simply wasn’t the type of customer they were concerned about. I go out of my way to avoid allergens so this will not happen. A restaurant that advertises a sensitivity to this should take extra precautions or prepare in the future to have more incidents like this that will likely create substantial civil liability or in worse cases death. I would hope that the owner would be more sensitive to this fact than the chef, waitress or manager. If negative ratings were allowed they would get the lowest possible one.

I am not vegan but I tried the satay skewer and fell in love. It tasted like a real chicken satay. So flavorful! Anything that Chef Ruby makes is DELICIOUS. Update: went back because I saw that they had a boba milk tea cake that looked delicious! Sure enough, it was HEAVENLY! I also ordered the ramen and the mush love (inspired by korean fried chicken). Everything is delicious! You can’t go wrong here.

The shape of the crab rangoons are a bit different from the typical shape, but they are delectable nonetheless! the filling is super creamy + delicious. I also recommend their chocolate cake. Amazing place, fantastic customer service and the food is delicious. 3 stars only because takeout portion is a joke. This is the 3rd time I’ve gotten takeout (have eaten here probably 20-30 times) and each time I hoped it was just an accident or not common occurrence. My wife got a good amount of food in her takeout (golden breeze for $15.75) but every single time I get takeout my food comes with so little especially for the price. I always feel like I get a much better amount in store. Please fix your portions. The pic is of the wonton soups for $8.95. The paper bowl on the left is the one it comes in for takeout and on the right in how it looks inside a normal sized bowl I use for cereal and soup. Banana for size comparison Update: thanks for responding and looking to staying consistent. All things considered Alice & Friends is definitely one of the better vegan places in town and a must try for any local vegan or not. I got the ramen for my manager (non vegan) once and he claimed it to be one of the best ramen dishes he’s ever tried.

God this place is still so so good! A true gem in Rogers Park. As a Loyola alumna, I would come here all the time in my undergraduate years! It had been several years since I had been back and it did not disappoint! The food is amazing, the staff is always so friendly and the decor inside is just as cute as ever. I opted for take out this time and got my old go-to, the heavenly curry with a side of steamed broccoli! The name is true, it truly is a “heavenly” dish. Thick, hearty and bursting with delicious spices and flavor. So darn delicious and filling. Perfect fall dish and the broccoli was yum as well. Also tried the popcorn nuggets with the mushrooms for the first time and they were also so good. Very flavorful, perfectly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I also got a hot sweet cinnamon and ginger tea and a slice of the chocolate mousse pie to finish off my meal. Delicious, delicious, delicious! The service for a carry out was great too! I came in at 5:00pm on a Sunday and my order was ready within 15 minutes. Had a 30 minute drive home and everything was still piping hot when I took it out! They packaged everything up perfectly! I cannot recommend this place enough. Everything is so fresh and house made and you can taste the love that goes into creating each dish! It does not matter what your dietary preference is, Alice & Friends does scratch made vegan Thai food better than any other place I know!

I got take out and absolutely loved this food. As a vegan whose had shrimp in the past, the walnut shrimp entree tasted better than any shrimp I’ve tried. The crispy mushrooms app was killer - how did they get it so crispy?? My partner got a tofu stir fry situation, and that was spot on too. Can’t wait to try everything on the menu. Only regret not buying dessert.

Had a burger, shrimp, fries, and a bite or two of the mac and cheese. For starters I'm a big carnivore, but the burger was delicious- interesting texture (reminded me of a medium rare burger), the shrimp honestly tasted like real shrimp, and the french fries were crunchy with a soft inside that puts most fries to shame. The mac and cheese was ok, but did not win any awards

Got surprise ending, body and soul and invitation roll. There is a super super spicy sauce in one of the pieces in surprise ending. Definitely need to try it if you want a surprise. Friendly service!

Best food in Chicago. Wish they had a location in the loop. Or delivered to the south loop. Everything on the menu is fire.

I love the Burmese Noodle Salad so much I don't want to order anything else. But, today I ordered a strawberry shortcake for dessert. The cool noodle salad is a perfect combination of crunchy, creamy, crispy, sweet, spicy and tangy! It's the perfect summer salad. The light and perfectly sweet shortcake was the very best finish.

This place is usually very solid, a bunch of great experiences, but the last timethe food was very mediocre and my girlfriend who is vegan was really disgusted by it. Would have been 5 stars but the one bad outing definitely took a star. but we're going to give them more chances because all in all it's delicious food.

  • 5/5 Grace J. 3 years ago on Google
really friendly staff, delicious vegan food!! sometimes as a vegan its boring to order a burger at a restaurant bc thats usually the only vegan item but you have to get their house made burger with cheese. it changes the game. and the no bake cheesecakes are beyond

Awesome awesome awesome! From the service to the food, this did not disappoint. They do take reservations but it was surprisingly ok on a Friday night. Paid street parking was easy to find. Service was friendly, the server was helpful in choosing between options and helped me figure out which dishes can be made mild. Ordered the Kung Pao Ding (without the chili) and the Sweet & Sour Cauliflower. Loved them both, though I was not a huge fan of the large strips of ginger in the Kung Pao. But it was easy enough to pick out and both dishes were still very tasty. Definitely save room for dessert and don't let the vegan options fool you- both desserts were so rich and amazing. We got the Chocolate Mousse Pie and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse bar. Delicious. I can't wait to go back and try more things!

WONDERFUL vegan restaurant that is affordable and just puts out amazing food. I would suggest this restaurant for anybody who is normally "afraid" of vegetarian/vegan cuisine, as the flavors were simply incredible. We started with the Vegan crab rangoon that tasted identical to its usual counterpart, with a great sweet and sour sauce that complimented it quite well. Next up was the Tomka soup which featured a coconut broth with lime, lemongrass and all that good stuff. It has a nice "back-end" spiciness that just warms the back of your throat up on its way down, without upsetting the balance of flavors and getting in the way. Paired with some good mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, baby corns, etc. It was easily one of the more delightful and interesting soups I've had in awhile. My friend and I also split 2 rainbow rolls, which were so fresh and amazing. The peanut sauce had a nice tang, and had a great consistency. The rice vinegar also gave it a nice kick. The nearly-transparent rice paper made it a visual treat to behold as well. Finally onto the main course (I DID eat a lot of food but I'll get to that) where I ordered the Bahn Mi, what i would almost call a "vegan viatnamese philly steak sandwich" that comes with jalapenos (et al), they cook the veg. protein in a nice sweet-spicy sauce and you can ask for spicy mayo alongside it too if you'd like. I wanted something really spicy and this did not disappoint. After all the crazy amounts of food my friend and I ordered, it only came to like 20 a person--so likely less if you have a more sensible appetite. The coolest part with all of that cuisine is that I had eaten nearly everything (I definitely recall not having leftovers), yet my body had no pain. Eating one of the healthiest meals in likely years, you could splurge relatively guilt-free here because everything is so fresh and healthy.

Best vegan food ever! Specially dessert baked zucchini. Vegan burger..it was a very good experience and delivery, safety number one with caviar application as always. The great success of the restaurant business starts with their reputation and the quality of their food. It took me a long time to find great vegan food near the site. Thank you 👍

Great Thai food. We got the pad Thai, pad see eiw, fried rice and dumplings. Pad Thai was not too sweet, noddles were cooked just right. Level 2 spicy was actually quite spicy which I also enjoyed. Will definitely order again.

  • 5/5 Shikha B. 3 years ago on Google
Absolutely excellent thai food. The pad kee mao was exactly the way I liked it - you could tell it was cooked in a hot wok, definitely had the flavor. Delicious and authentic for sure. A nice change from the Americanized garbage that most restaurants in Chicago serve. The panang curry was a little more watery than I like, but flavor was pretty good. Spring rolls were excellent. I will definitely be back.
