My meal was delicious. I was also impressed with my waiter. She was very attentive and even attempted to anticipate my next move. She was 100% correct in doing that. I also love the look of this restaurant. Both inside and the tables set outside offer plenty of seating. I was definitely in the place to be.

Superb food and customer service. Staff will go any extra miles to serve you to perfection. Exquisite appetizers, pastas and entrees, paired with sophisticated red and white wines. Desserts will top your dining experience to above and beyond! Thanks Cesar for such a welcoming experience!

What a great authentic Italian experience! We loved everything about our dinner including the daily happy hour that will have you fully satisfied and tastebuds dancing! Make sure to get the meatballs, veggie lasagna and the clam in their semi spicy garlic broth. Plus, a wide selection of specialty wines and refreshing cocktails that are included in the happy hour pricing. Definitely worth the drive to a romantic date night out. #gifted

A dim and relaxed atmosphere with marvelous food and pleasant staff. Everything we ate was delicious but the carbonara… I would kick my girlfriend out of bed for that pasta. Some of the best I’ve ever had.

Sapori has two stories, and the second floor dining space has a charming homey ambiance reminiscent of a converted apartment. This woodsy setting could make for a lovely date spot, though during peak dinner hours, the noise levels can escalate a bit. For the main courses, we tried the Carbonara and Risotto. While both were flavorful, they seemed a bit lacking in complexity and depth of flavor. The standout star of the meal was the Cacio E Pepe Cheesecake! The whole cheesecake was set on fire with a layer of cheese on top, resulting in a blend of sweet, richness, and savory flavors. It might be one of the best and most unique cheesecakes I've ever tried!

Great spot to go for on a date night or for happy hour! The atmosphere is very homey and warm, perfect for an intimate night out. Their menu is extensive and I really enjoy starting out with their table bread and olive oil/parm. This is definitely a hidden gem in Lincoln Park! It’s on the pricey side but worth it, and it’s not over done like some restaurants in the area. A bit fancy, but not stuffy. I love it here!

I came here with a group of friends and I ordered the Risotto Pescatore which was excellent. The risotto was cooked perfectly and there were plenty of shrimp, calamari, and scallops in there as well. For dessert we all got the chocolate cake and tiramisu. Both desserts were top notch. Overall the food here is amazing and I will definitely be coming back here soon.

Great pasta, tasted very fresh. The Lil’ Pick Me Up cocktail was delicious as well. The only part of our experience that wasn’t so great was how we had specifically made a reservation for outside seating, but when we arrived, we were told inside was our only option.

I came for my birthday dinner and the restaurant was able to accommodate my party of 13. My party was seated as soon as they entered. Although the restaurant was a little tight, the customer service and food made up for it. The carbonara pasta was absolutely amazing. So was the meatball appetizer. Our waitress did amazing job, I wish I remembered her name. I will definitely be back to try more dishes.

I recently dined at this restaurant and tried the Pennette Cardinale and Aragosta. While the seafood flavors in the Aragosta were subtle, the calamari was quite enjoyable and the tiramisu was decent. The service was excellent. However, the dining area felt a bit cramped and the temperature dropped noticeably when the door was opened. Considering the price, I found the overall taste to be average. While my experience wasn't entirely what I hoped for, others may appreciate the offerings differently.

We ordered 2 appetizers, 2 cocktails, and 2 entrees. With a 20% tip, that came out to about $180. The atmosphere was lovely and our server, Cesar, was so kind and personable. The staff was attentive, everything was timely, and recommendations were much appreciated. As for the food, it left a bit to be desired. Our meatball appetizer came out cold which was unfortunate but the flavor was there. Really loved the whipped ricotta however, the bread was really pushing from charred to just straight burnt. We ordered their pork shank special and veal osso buco. For both of us we again really enjoyed the flavor but the meat itself, both pork and veal, was tough/dry. For $36 an entree we were expecting melt in your mouth so there was some disappointment. Again, flavors are good on everything but execution was missing that made everything just okay versus delicious. For the price it makes it hard to say we’d come back because nothing knocked our socks off besides the service. We were celebrating a birthday so we enjoyed a complimentary slice of yummy tiramisu and limoncello which was very thoughtful. If we do return, we’ll likely stick to pasta.

Love this place! Everything is good always! We were visiting from Miami and came here, we ate here last year and quality remains the same . Started with calamari , then had meat lasagna which is awesome! Wife had some carbonara pasta . Highly recommended this place for good home cooked Italian!! Good prices , good wine , nice atmosphere, waiters are excellent!

We had a great time at Sapori Trattoria! The atmosphere was very lively and the restaurant was full at 7 PM, but now I understand why. The food was absolutely delicious and was served in pretty big portions, so we were able to take home a ton of leftovers. The staff was also very friendly and helpful with the menu; however, because it was so busy, service was a little slower. Definitely do not forget to order dessert when you come! The tiramisu and bread pudding were both incredible.

It's a very large restaurant with more seating on the second floor. They have many selection of Italian wine you can choose from. We were recommended a decent one around $60. Steak was perfectly cooked and juice poured out of the shrimp in our pasta. Overall it was a nice, cozy, neighborhood restaurant but it was all a bit too salty for us. All the flavors + texture from each dish was satisfying.

Can’t recommend this spot enough!! For a date night eat on the first floor or with friends definitely upstairs, it’s loud and fun up there. Food is incredible and portions are huuuuuge. The flavor is there. Love this spots. Lamb chops are 10/10 and carbonara is 12/10

A friend and I came her to expand our Chicago Italian food spots and we weren’t disappointed! Starting off our service was fantastic and I’m kicking myself for not getting her name. We were in between a few options trying to explore as much of the menu as we could and she did a great (and honest) job of narrowing our search. We started with a few cocktails. The Chicago 75 (I didn’t try) and the Italian Manhattan- a deep cocktail with a little Italian richness. From there we went to the meatballs and clams. Both fantastic but the clams have a level of spice to them. To us it was perfect but just in case be forewarned. From their I had the All’ Aragosta and my companion had the carbonera. Both 🤌🏼🤌🏼, the seafood combination in the Aragosta with the vodka sauce was delicious and the carbonara was the perfect level of richness. Could eat that one breakfast lunch or dinner. We finished with the pistachio gelato and Vanilla Mascarpone. The perfect end to a great meal!

My girlfriend and I recently came here spur of the moment. We knew we wanted Italian food and it was the best rated places for that in the area. We found some parking that was free for the next hour, so we rushed in to see if they could serve us in time for us to move the car. The hostess was very understanding and assured us we could be out in time. The restaurant had just opened, so even though it was completely booked for the night, they were able to squeeze us in. Our waiter was very understanding of the situation and served us quicky. He got us some wine samples and recommended some of their top dishes. The food came out in about 10 minutes and was super delicious! In total, we completed our entire meal in about a half hour, but I wish we could have stayed longer. We we definitely back with a proper reservation so we can stay and enjoy our time.

finally got to try sapori and i was not disappointed. we started with drinks and the ricotta honey toast was amazing. we got the bucatini carbonara and the rigatoni bolognese and both were amazing. i think the bolognese almost had too much meat sauce but it was still great. our server was attentive and helpful with the menu. we were sat upstairs which was a very cute dining area with a view to the street below. i can’t wait to come back here!

I feel like I have been finding Italian heaven here in Chicago *cue the angels singing!* Here at you get all the vibes - cozy, intimate, and warm paired with authentic, fresh Italian cuisine! I love the interior and there’s even an upstairs for seating. Food I tried: Burrata Platter - loved this and the spreads Calamari - perfectly fried!!! Gnocchi Al Brivido - OMGGGGGG I LOVED THIS 10oz NY Strip - my guest said it was delish! Cacio e pepe cheesecake - it was set on fire and caramelized right in front of me. Perfect balance of sweetness! Triple layer chocolate cake - Probably some of the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had!!! Drinks I tried: Moscato D’asti Lil pick me up Old Fashioned My gnocchi was so soft and that basil pesto - I could eat it on ANYTHING! The rub used on their NY strip comes from Second City Prime (look them up!) so not only is it cooked very well, it’s seasoned perfectly! And the dessert?!?! I could come here just to eat the dessert alone! Both desserts I tried were decadent! Ask for the waitress Gia! She was super sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu! Visit them to try one of their authentic dishes and tell em that Bri from Planes & Plates sent you! Buon Appetito!

Sapori Trattoria is one of my favorite Italian spots in the city for many reasons; quality red sauce, exceptional service, handmade pasta, and a lovely dining room and patio. We sat by the window which was lovely for the weather we've been having in Chicago lately. The Calabrian Clams are a must - clams served in a spicy red broth with crispy bacon and fresh herbs. The Vitello Meatballs are tender and delicious. For pastas, you can't go wrong with any here but we ordered the Carbonara and the Cappellacci Angostora and both were very flavorful. For dessert, you MUST try the Vanilla Marscapone. Light and creamy, this is not your average dessert. It's also not too sweet. Served chilled with candied mangoes - it's one of the best desserts I've ever had. Sapori is a dependable classic in the Lincoln Park/Park West neighborhood.

What an excellent restaurant! Great service, the cuisine is in its own lane, and the cocktails are made with effort. I would definitely come back and try more of their menu!

For me, Sapori Trattoria was a restaurant that I passed by a ton of times, but never acutely went into. I'm so glad that I actually took the time and visited this place. While I was there. I learned that it has been around for about 20 years (at the time of this review). So wasn't surprised that I had passed by it so much. While their food is the typical old world Italian with large portions, it is very high quality. I very much liked everything that I tried. First, even before I got my main dishes, their table bread was great. It was warm and soft. It was a great start to the meal. For main courses I ordered the rigatoni bolognese and the pennette cardinale. The bolognese was rich and thick and coated the rigatoni well. I also enjoyed the pennette cardinale. The sauce was creamy, and I also really enjoy the the sun dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts in it. I also enjoyed the tiramisu for dessert. Overall the food was very good. I also enjoyed the fun, ladies back neighborhood atmosphere. In sum, this Italian restaurant is must visit.

I loved my visit to Sapori Tratorria! When we arrived we were greeted and seated immediately. Our waiter was also lovely. It was quite busy during our visit and he still made sure we had everything we need at all times. The octopus was definitely a stand out for appetizers. Cooked to perfection! For dinner we had the carbonara and lasagna. Sooo good!!! You can tell fresh ingredients were used and it was made thoughtfully. The Cacio de Pepe cheesecake was definitely new for me and I was a bit nervous to try it at first but it was fantastic! A must try! I loved everything about our visit.

Stopped in for a date night here. We have been passing by this place for years and finally got the chance to try it! Ambiance-wise I think it is a great date spot. There are a lot of tables but they're set up in a way that leans towards cozy date rather than big groups. We started with some appetizer and got the burrata platter and the calabrian clams. This was my favorite course by far! The pasta we ordered was great portions, I had left overs for the next day but I thought it was more Ameerican-Italian and I usually like more Italian pasta instead. Desserts were big portions as well, we got the tiramisu and the chocolate cake. Out of the two I liked the tiramisu if I had to choose. On our way out, we did see quite a wait a wait on a Friday night so I suggest reservations if you're planning on coming!

I recently dined at Sapori Trattoria in Chicago, and it was an enchanting culinary experience. From the moment I walked in, the cozy ambiance and welcoming staff set the stage for a delightful evening. The menu at Sapori Trattoria is a celebration of authentic Italian flavors. I started with the Insalata Rustica, brussel sprout salad with parmesan baked bread crumbles, and dried cranberries. House-made buttermilk avocado dressing contains a touch of anchovy and Worcestershire. It was a perfect appetizer to whet the appetite. To keep things interesting, I opted to get the Charred Octupus, made with crispy artichokes, burnt lemon, dill, oregano, pickled and fresno chili. Just perfecto For the main course, I indulged in their Pollo Ternana, and it did not disappoint. Chicken breast stuffed with smoked provolone, basil, mushrooms, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes and pine nuts. Each bite was a burst of Italian comfort. The drink selection was extensive, and the knowledgeable staff helped me choose a perfect pairing for my meal. Their attention to detail and commitment to enhancing the dining experience were truly impressive. To cap off the evening, I enjoyed a decadent cacio e pepe cheesecake for dessert, which was a heavenly conclusion to an outstanding meal. Sapori Trattoria in Chicago is a hidden gem that transports you to the heart of Italy with its authentic cuisine and warm ambiance. Whether it's a romantic dinner or a special celebration, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking exceptional Italian fare in Chicago. I can't wait to return and explore more of their tantalizing menu.

Sapori Trattoria is such an amazing neighborhood spot! Every single thing we ordered was excellent and came in generous portion sizes. They had lots of vegetarian options which was great. The pasta was so delicious. Whatever you do, get the bruschetta and of course the chocolate cake!

I found this restaurant after searching for best Italian restaurants in Chicago. I would say it lived up to that billing. My meal was fantastic, and I went with the Chicagoeater recommended lobster stuffed ravioli. The vodka sauce is decadent so save some of the house bread for dipping into your pasta sauce. The grilled zucchini mixed in was also complimented by the sauce really well. I finished off with the cheesecake which was promptly set on fire by my server. I probably wouldn’t order it again, but it was really good. I would just rather try something different if I were to return. Best Italian restaurant in Chicago will always be subjective in a city with such diverse options, but it is a restaurant that shouldn’t be missed.

A great happy hour deal! The drinks were really good and we enjoyed the apps & dessert. Our favorites were the ricotta toast and the tiramisu! A veryyyy good espresso martini too!

  • 4/5 Elizabeth M. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent service! Amazing food! The sea bass was absolutely delicious! Slight crisp on the skin, perfectly cooked, and I loved the tomato broth it was served with. Their cantaloupe cocktail was also a slam dunk. The only reason I give this 4/5 stars is because the restaurant was so unbelievably cold the entire time, my husband and I had to keep our jackets on. Also we were seated at a very tiny two top table next to the kitchen door so it got pretty noisy even though the restaurant was fairly empty. Other than that great evening. Would come back.

Love the cozy local atmosphere, with large delicious portions! They also are super vegetarian friendly and can customize any dish to your liking. We really enjoyed everything from the drinks, to the food, to the desserts! Definitely a must-try local restaurant!

Such a great place , great environment. Made a reservation here and was seated promptly. Stephanie was great and attentive. Made my experience a wonderful one. The food taste great and well portions. I had the lasagna. I was unable to finish it because I got full from the bruschettas and calamari. The calamari is easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time. It came with bell peppers but I didn’t realize it til the last minute because I was just distracted with the deliciousness. Would definitely come back to dine again. I do recommend reservations. I saw as I was leaving there was a long line to get in. And it is easy to see why.

Food and drinks were amazing! The special holiday espresso martini tastes great! The burrata with prosciutto is the most fresh one I ever had in Chicago. The octopus is grilled to perfection. Steak and carbonara are a great main dish. The cheesecake is too cheesy but so good!! Also their house wine is great!
