Shalban Vihar is a remarkable and unique antiquities. The natural environment around it is very beautiful. Nice place to visit with family. There are works of art from the ancient era which are eye-catching. Aesthetically designed architectures have survived through the ages. You can also put the place on your travel list if you want.

An ancient place where you can spend some quality time taking pictures and roaming around. This is an excellent site to give visitors a glimpse of the glorious past of the Buddhist civilization in this part of the world. I wish the place were less crowded, though.

One of the most historical and ancient place of Bangladesh. Those who have interest in History or historical place can spend a very good time here. Morning and evening time is best for visit, but maybe you have to face a lot of crowd here at public holiday. So it’s better to avoid holiday. It's very easy to go there. You have to reach "Kotbari, Cumilla" first and then can go there within 30/40 minute by a CNG or Taxi. You have to bye a ticket to enter into the Bihar.

At the beginning you will find a museum where you will get to see the crafts found there when this place was discovered. Then you would find the plains which is the main place of attraction. After that at the end of the road you may find the new temple. This place was altogether but now the authorities charge two times to enter into the facility that disheartened me. Though it does not cost much for one person but it did not seemed fair from my point of view. Moreover, you may find local stores selling various products outside. Do bargain for each good you buy. They are not that expensive. Also, you can try the street foods carefully.

A perfect place for photography. Which covers the history of Cumilla a period of about seven hundred years from 6th to 12th century A.D. The architecture is quite similar throughout the Shalbon Bihara. # Suggestions: If you want to visit Shalbon Bihara then don't miss the Rupsagor Park which is so close.

Shalban Bihar is an archaeological site in Moinamoti, Comilla, Bangladesh. The ruins are in the middle of the Lalmai hills ridge, and these are of a 7th-century Paharpur-style Buddhist Bihar with 115 cells for monks. It operated through the 12th century. How to get there: The distance by road from Dhaka to Comilla is only 2 hours and 30 minutes. Royal Coach, Tisha and Asia Line are ahead in terms of bus service. You can ride any one on the way to Comilla. Prince Saudia bus will be good for those who want to come from Chittagong. However, the interesting thing is that it takes less time by train than by bus from Chittagong to Comilla, only 3 hours and 30 minutes. The bus takes 4 hours and 30 minutes. Come to Comilla and leave at Thomson Bridge bus stand. You will find a CNG stand there. If you go locally, it will cost 20 Tk and if you want to go to the reserve, maximum 150 Tk. You will be dropped off at Kotbari with CNG. From there you have to go to Shalban Vihar by auto rickshaw. The rent will be 10 Tk.

If you ever plan to travel Cumilla, It's a must visit place. The history of Shalban bihar is quite big even though it's hard to describe the actual history of Shalban Bihar cause there are two or three stories that have been described by locals. But except for the history, it is a must visit place. This is more like a park than a historical place as people have fewer intentions to respect or learn about this place and the authority can't afford to provide any depth information on this place. I tried to learn about this and another vihara nearby, but no one has given me in-depth info, like how this place was built, how the life of a saint or the locals was, and why there are so many viharas in this area and so many questions. The museum told me to contact their main archeological office in Dhaka, The Cumilla library couldn't give me anything on this topic, agh. It's like a whole mess.

One of the most visited place in cumilla district. From Dhaka you can ride on Asia Transport and get down in kutbari bishwaroad . Bus fare BDT 200 per person. Take a CNG or Auto-rickshaw to go to shalbom bihar. Per person BDT 20 only or you can reserve for BDT 100. After reaching you have take entry ticket for BDT 20 per person , go in roam around took pictures. Do not through water bottle or chips packet here and there. There are lots of dustbin installed inside shalbon bihar for your need. Biriyani doesn't test much good in the street hotel infront of entry gate.

This Buddhist monastery is one of the many ancient sites of the Lalmai-Mainamati archeological site in Comilla district. Archaeological remains of the 8th-12th centuries are found in it. Construction It is believed that Srivavadeva, the fourth king of the Deva dynasty, built this Buddhist monastery from the end of the 7th century AD to the beginning of the 8th century AD. There are six phases of construction and reconstruction of Shalban Bihar. Room There are a total of 155 rooms in Bihar. In front of the room is a 7.5 feet wide verandah and low walls at its end. There are three niches on the wall of each room. Goddesses, oil lamps, etc. were kept in the niche. These rooms were occupied by Buddhist monks. He used to study and practice religion there. There is a wide brick road on all four sides of the hall. 1200 years ago the King Bhava Deva, the fourth ruler of the Early-Deva dynasty built that place on 168 square meters of ground. It was the royal palace for the early Buddhist students. This site, previously called Shalban Rajar Bari, came out after archaeological excavation as a Buddhist monastery and hence termed as Salban vihara from the terracotta seals and copper plates discovered. Its original name is supposed to have been Bhava Deva Mahavihara after the 4th king of the early Deva dynasty which ruled this region from the mid-7th to mid-8th centuries AD. It was built in or on the outskirts of Devaparvata, the capital bordering the Lalambi forest.

An ancient place where you can spend some quality time taking pictures and roaming around. This is an excellent site to give visitors a glimpse of the glorious past of the Buddhist civilization in this part of the world. I wish the place were less crowded, though.
