Don’t be out off by it’s interior. This place makes unbelievable sandwiches. The two soups we had , minestrone & seafood chowder, were great too. Super low key & inexpensive but very good. Highly recommend this spot for a lunch or a quick bite.

We were there for a poetry meeting. They had a decent selection of beer. The space was a bit small for the number of people that attended; however, we still had fun and met great people. The downstairs was empty; so, I got a few good pictures of this famous location. We heard the food is good. It s a good place to pop into while you in city center or on your lunch break. It is very cozy.

Obviously very covid friendly! Fabulous staff and great food. Warm and welcoming atmosphere from this deeply historic, family owned pub. A must-go for tourists!

Now, I've not been here since about 1990, so it has been a long time. As I was flying out of Cork, I really wanted to come to The Long Valley and see a) was it still open, b) had it changed. My fond memories of this place were the old lady making legendary sandwiches behind the bar, and the great pint of Murphy's. My heart sank as I turned off Patrick St as I thought it had been replaced by other venues. Fear not though, it's still standing there, proud as can be and it has not changed from my memory. Well, the bar man told me the toilets had a makeover since I was last in, and I did notice that it now had a roof! Another charming memory from many years ago was going there when my parents were down for a visit, and having to spend a penny or two, coming back covered in snow as there was a bit of a blizzard blowing. I'm so happy to see that it has hardly changed, and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich and pint.

I have been going to this pub for many years. The food is good but admittedly the staff always give the impression they really don't want to be there. As for the new policy on not allowing customers sit outside that don't hold a covid cert, this is illegal and there will be many customers that will never frequent your pub again!!

Loved this bar. The food was simple but very tasty, fresh, and filling. The beer selection was great, and the pumps well maintained. Highly recommend you call in and get a beer and butty! June 23

All round great pub. Always pop in for a few fizzy drinks before going to Musgrave Park. Great staff, great craic, great atmosphere and EPIC sandwiches 😁😁😁. A trip to the true capital isn't the same without a visit to An Gleann Fada ....

If you want an authentically old styled pub with good food and a vast selection of drinks, this is the place to come to in Cork! I was last here over 40 years ago in 1982, the design and atmosphere of the place has barely changed. Still a great place to visit with great memories for me personally!

Nice old style, traditional pub. Centrally located. Good vibe but the food, especially the sandwiches, is highly overrated. This has always puzzled me. Some overdone meat between two doorsteps of bland white bread, with some soggy salad thrown in for good measure - zero flavor. Far better options available around town. But if you like a nice pint of Guinness in a buzzy atmosphere- it’s not a bad place.

Great bar for food and drinks. We went in for one but the bar lady Rita was so friendly and welcoming we stayed for five. She was very personal and if I was the bar owner I’d want more Rita’s behind my bar. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to her service. Would have gave higher over all star rating if the other staff had of been more friendly and engaging. Over all great experience! Thanks Rita.

It is our tradition to go here every Christmas Eve. Sandwiches are always excellent. Staff always pleasant. Despite the crowds everyone is helpful and good humoured!

I went there because I saw reviews that they had a great stew, I arrived and it was packed, but I could see vacant seats at the bar. I waited to be greeted by an employee and no one came to sit me, I finally asked an employee after a while if he had a sit for one and he just said no and turned his back on me. I'm giving 2 stars because it was packed and maybe I caught someone on a bad day, but that's definitely not how you treat a costumer and I'll definitely never come back. I went to a pub nearby and got a proper service and meal instead.

Each time i visit Cork, The long valley is my go to place for lunch, Today i visited ,and it was busy. Ordered my usual seafood chowder and egg salad sandwich. The chowder was terrible, big lumps of one kind of fish..the usual thick sause was now like water. the sandwich was poorly made with very little egg. It was busy.. but that should not be an excuse for bad service, or badly prepaired food. and today the food was thrown together. I was disapointed .. not sure if i will come here again.

Not many pubs left in Cork where you can get a pint on a week day lunch time, a nice treat! And fabulous sandwiches!

Nice pub located centrally in Cork city. The pub is has nice dimmed lighting that gives a good atmosphere. They do food untill 5 in the evening and I recommend the lamb stew. Their sandwiches are also nice.

The Long Valley has a reputation for having lovely sandwiches but I can assure you their Stew isn't that great. I would rank it 6 out of 10 and that's being kind. My friends who were also present did enjoy their toasted sandwiches but one of our group was trying to order and the barman told him it would take 10 - 15 mins to toast his order yet served all the rest of us within a 5 min period. My friend was none to happy. He did have a beverage but it actually created a tense atmosphere as we all sat around eating in front of him. All in all its still a decent bar to visit with good Guinness. Service could be better if truth is to be said plus Stew should be more savoury than watery.

I was here for St. Patrick's Day and I drunk my first Guinness in Cork in this pub with live music and plenty of people. I felt very close the irish ambient!

👍👍 Awesome place to grab a bite to eat and have a nice drink or three in downtown Cork. I had the fish and chips and the wife had the lamb stew...they were both perfect. 👍 Crazy good prices on food and beverages. You sacrifice attentive service, but everyone I talked to there was pleasant and helpful.
