Bartender was awesome, and the place itself was a perfect hang out. I'd be a regular if I lived in Cork. This pub was on my list of "must see spots" for our trip to Cork, and it did not disappoint. Beyond the fact it's visually amazing with all sorts of nooks and crannies to sit in, our bartender was super personable and we had a great time visiting with him. We'd arrived just as he'd opened the doors for the day, and he chatted with us as he finished his set up. We ended up staying for more than one because of his great service. He was saying that on a Saturday night it gets quite packed and busy, so we were glad to be there in the afternoon.

A solid place for a beer. We enjoyed some of the craft beers they had on tap (Rising Sons). Good tunes, and a fun atmosphere.

My pal took us to his favourite pub in Cork (this one) and I loved it. Good music from happy bar staff, unassuming place and buzzing crowd. Don't change anything!

Really cosy, nice bar. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere,. Very old bar, but quite young clientele. Nice crowd. I like that they allow dogs in. I highly recommend this very traditional bar in the heart of Cork City. South Main Street, Cork.

Nice pint and a great little bar. Myself and 15 friends came i here drinking and the barmaid gave out to us for standing in the middle of the floor. I dont know where she wanted id to stand the bar only holds 50 people and it was a busy Saturday night. We had one pint and left. It was very disappointing.

The Oval is another one of Cork's iconic pubs and its one of the cozy ones! Located on the corner of S Main St and Tucky St., its a pub with a unique Oval shaped ceiling in Cork City center! The pub has a wonderful ambienceve and the crowd that frequents the bar also gives it a certain charm! The Staff: The staff are friendly and welcoming as soon as you walk in the door! They are very attentive and will serve you quickly! Drink Selection: They have a great selection of beer on tap and they serve all three major stouts! Of which I chose a pint of their delicious Guinness draft! A lot of people were ordering the Murphy's and Beamish aswell so I can only imagine that they are also good aswell! Layout: The layout of the bar is kind of split into two rooms. The first room has the feature for which it owes its namesake, the Oval shaped ceiling. The second room has more seating and is to the rear of the premises. The bar is located in this room along with some seats. The second room is smaller and is located towards the back. The main seating area is in this room and the stairs to the toilet is also here. The bar has access to the seating area on Tucky St. which offers access to people who use wheelchairs. Decor: The pub is decorated with a lot of wood and with little quirky details and morabilia as well as little plaques with historic details, etc. Overall Ipinion: The Oval is an old bar in the City Center where time moves a little slower. They have a great selection of beers to choose from and I highly recommend stopping by for a beautiful pint of Guinness or drink of your choosing and have a chat with friends!

One of Corks finest pubs. Great atmosphere and excellent selection of locally brewed craft beers. An escape from the busy city.

Amazing atmosphere, the playlist was a perfectly curated mix of contemporary and retro tunes, great selection of libations. I wish this place existed in Chicago bc I would be a regular!

What a pub! The decor, the atmosphere and the quality of the pints. This is the place to go in Cork. If you want a lovely relaxed place to enjoy a pint of the black stuff this is your place in the city. Nice mature crowd here. Close to the city center. The girl behind the bar with the cropped blonde hair is a gem, she makes the place. Just do yourself a favour and come here.

Great spot for a pint or two. Don't think the interior has changed in twenty years. Now has outdoor seating if you're hardy.

I found out from a friend that they have tampons in the men's bathroom for men that might need them, made me happy! They also have mulled wine and hot whiskey! I love the music and atmosphere, a really chilled place to have a pint and have a great time.

Cosiest pub ever! My friend and I came in for a drink together and squeezed ourselves into the last remaining bar stools. The staff were so so lovely and the vibe and atmosphere was so great. The place was absolutely packed but in a good and friendly way, and the patrons I spoke to while navigating the pub all seemed in very good spirits.

Fantastic traditional pub with a good selection of drinks. Great pint of Beamish and a good atmosphere as well. Bigger than it looks from the outside with outdoor seating as well.

For some of the best beamish and Guinness in Cork City this is the spot, lots of seating outside for those summer months, and also the perfect cozy interior for the winter months (especially if you're lucky enough to get the seats by the fire) Service is always quick and they know their stuff.

A great pub of Cork city. Over 100 years old and started off as a pub owned by the nearby Beamish and Crawford brewery. Interior left untouched as it was 100 years ago. One of few pubs in city still with a fire. Great selection of beers.

Lovely public house. Lots of seating options from the bar to the nook to a variety of table sizes. Best pint of Beamish youโ€™ll find. Bartenders are friendly and quick. The place was full of locals, and as a tourist I wasnโ€™t made to feel out of place one bit. Also saw dogs were welcome, which was grand to see. Wish this was my local pub. Top marks all around!

Great local bar. Has a real Cork feel and is very popular with locals. Very cosy. Good selection of drinks. Friendly staff and always hits the right balance between relaxed and lively. Basically has the perfect the combination of what makes a great local bar

The sort of pub where people talk to each other. Traditional Irish with unpretentious decor. We sat for a couple of hours reading the papers and enjoying a pint. Perfect.

Great old style Irish pub. Dark, lots of wood and good Guinness. If you are a tourist and looking for a traditional Irish pub, you just found it. Keep an eye on Murphy's stout. Almost no chance to find it on the west coast!

Best pub in Cork and always always will be. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, the music, the selection of Irish whiskeys and the vibe of the Oval. Iโ€™m 11 years in Cork and have still to find better than this bar. Visiting Cork? Go here or miss out completelyโ€ฆup to you, reader!!!

What a cracking pub ! Somehow it has a very funky underground vibe and walking through the doors you feel as though you are on an adventure. Really lovely vibe and just full of lots of happy juice. If you go and this does not work, then go to a sterile wine bar with zero atmosphere and you will feel at home. Love it !
