I’ve been going to Starters for over 20 years but never wrote a review. Starters is my go to spot! I’ve tried everything they’ve offered and I have my favs. Surf and turf is my fav with a light skin Long Island lol. Double lobster tails yum! Their salad is big and full filling. The service over the years have been exceptional! From the host to waitress to bartender to owners everyone is always give top tier service. They are the best local bar and happy hour. The happy hour menu try the steak bites fried shrimp and fish. Happy hour everyday 2-7 you can’t beat that! My fav location is the original on Plymouth rd. Southfield and Woodward rocks too. I’ve been to Woodward four times since May 9th. So yes I love them all. My motto is I’ll try anything once, twice if I like it!

Everything was great! Although we got there 20 mins before them closing we still got fresh food, which was delicious, excellent service from Diamond, and enjoyed a great vibe! Definitely will be back!

The waitress was very nice. Especially with having to go between all of us in different areas for my aunts birthday celebration. The food was really good. Sorry it all went in my belly there was no pictures of food on this trip. 🙂

Horrible food, ordered “steak Alfredo” and got left over crumbs of some sort of beef and pieces of hamburger. Like they gave me the scraps from the grill. The tomatoes in the salad were mushy and old, the salmon was okay. Maybe come for drinks ONLY! The customer service is great! The kitchen is a whole other story. BE AWARE OF THE FOOD.

Being that Starters is a Detroit staple, it was definitely on my list. I was surprisingly seated right away on a busy Friday night, meeting my friend to get dinner. The music is excellent, I expect nothing less from the city that birthed Motown. My server was excellent and very attentive, despite my friend being late. She quickly directed me to the happy hour menu as it was ending at 7. The bread was amazing and the drinks were delicious! I got a watermelon patron margarita. We got chicken nachos as an appetizer And honestly I could have made those nachos at home. I got the Atlantic salmon with grilled shrimp, asparagus, and loaded potatoes which was very delicious. I am very happy with my experience overall. Starters is definitely a vibe!

Honestly, this place is the definition of mid! I usually get the steak bites, which are pretty good if you don’t get the fatty parts. But a few days ago I decided to get the New York Strip steak, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese, and let me tell you…that whole meal sucked so bad. The steak was quite fatty and distasteful, the mashed potatoes were very bland, I added the gravy to it to try and make it more flavorful but that didn’t work at all, and the mac and cheese was a disgrace, not a lot of flavor and the cheese wasn’t even melted all the way. But at least the service and drinks were good, just get some chefs/cooks who actually knows how to cook, or at least cares about the food they’re making because it seems like there isn’t 100% effort being put into the food.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I could rate them 0 starts, I would. This is the WORST RESTAURANT TO EVER EXIST. No exaggeration. These people must be drunk or something, I kid you not. I get a grilled chicken salad every time I come here, and I get a different salad every single time. I have ordered a grilled chicken salad everyday for 4/5 days straight, and each time, my salad was different. I NEVER get what I order. I was so frustrated with their chefs and hostesses (whoever answers the phones) because either my order isn’t correct, or it is, and the chefs COMPLETELY didn’t even read the ticket. One day I ordered it, the chunks of chicken were HUMONGOUS, barely any lettuce, one egg. The next time I ordered EXTRA chicken, and got the same exact amount of chicken the salad should come with. They always only give you one dressing and you have to order another (pay for it) and they still only give you two dressing. The next time my salad was very full of lettuce, two eggs, plenty of croutons, and about 3 dressings (the best salad I ever got from here outside of the very first one I had. The next time I went up there after ordering online and my salad was still being made after an hour. I go back again and it’s still being made…... I went back inside and it was still being made again so it took me 3 hours of waiting before the salad had to be made at my request so I had to tell the front desk girl what ingredients I had…they still ended up giving me NO DRESSING…………..,So due to this frustration, I stopped ordering for a few days. Today was the last very straw. I requested a grilled chicken salad with FETA, croutons, EXTRA CROUTONS, egg, and I asked for CEASER DRESSING. My salad came with shredded cheddar or American cheese, NO CROUTONS (when I paid for EXTRA CROUTONS) some red sweet dressing, GIGANTIC cucumber chunks and tomato chunks, and some bland bread. I will never come to this restaurant again and I suggest you go to a different starters location or a different restaurant entirely. How hard is it to make a salad??? Is it rocket science? Because this restaurant makes it seem like it is. FIRE THE WHOLE STAFF. The CHEFS SUCK. This place is absolute GARBAGE.

The atmosphere was lively but not so much that it was bothersome. It took our server about 10-15 minutes to initially come to our table and take our orders. After he made the initial contact he was on top of his game from that point forward. We ordered burgers, wings, steak, and catfish. The kids burgers are definitely kid sized which is a plus so it cuts down on waste. The garlic wings were good and so were the Buffalo wings. The fried catfish come with 2 nice sized pieces and the steak is a good size but as far as taste it was ok. The Mac and cheese and the Spanish rice were not really good tho I ordered my steak medium and it was brought to the table medium well but the manager on duty promptly offered to remedy the problem. The only issues with the server were his facial expressions, lack of smiling/happy attitude, and that we asked for the bill to be separate but he didn't separate it. Other than that it was a decent experience.

Great atmosphere. Great service. Good food and they make the best drinks!! My favorite is the Paradise Island Martini.

My wife and I stopped in and off the bat I thought it was rowdy but we entertained it anyway. The restaurant was a little ran down. We waited about 25 minutes to get seated. Meantime there we're two different sections arguing. Just as we were deciding to leave we were seated. The food was decent salmon and steak. The staff members were courteous and attentive. The atmosphere...was a gangsta rap video. Loud profanity laced conversations as children were also there getting an ear full. We kept our jackets on and quickly got carry out containers. It was uncomfortable to say the least. We were overdressed and dissatisfied.

Came in from NYC, my friend took me here. We had the lamb chops, they were well seasoned and tender. Be aware that this is not a baby chop, it has a bone in. The Thai wings were crispy and hot!!!! The broccoli was my least favorite. It was definitely frozen and still kinda cold. Cat fish strips were a hit. I heard. The star of the meal was the jalapeño poppers. They were pippin hot . The two girls that served us were a dynamic duo. Amazing! Bravo. Happy hour prices were amazing . I will be visiting again.

The food has been tremendously down graded. The appetizers taste like they came from the frozen section out of a grocery store. The wings are very big and has no flavor and the cooks just through them in sauce and send them out. The food does not come out together when you order and entree at least ours didn’t . I have never had a bad experience with my food up until Saturday night 11/25

The food was amazing. Wait time for a table on Saturday night was a little long but worth it! The bathrooms on the other hand were absolutely unsanitary.

The food was extremely generous portions and the lunch special prices were excellent! Great place to eat. Our entire family enjoyed it. We had never tasted garlic bread as delicious as what they gave us. Compliments to the kitchen staff!!! Customer service was excellent as well. Would definitely recommend and plan to go back when visiting Detroit again.

The initial order of my companion & I didn't come out right. My steak was over cooked even though I asked for medium & her salad came sans cheese & onions and some of the lettuce was brown. Upon bringing up these issues with staff, everything was replaced & wonderful.

They redeemed themselves. (My husband and I went in on a Saturday night. We sat for 15 minutes before a waitress came to the table. We actually left and went somewhere else.) This particular visit was at 2pm for happy hour. My waitress was prompt and attentive. The food was good, as usual. 4 stars for the visit prior to this one.

I support black businesses. The waitress Latoya P. Is a very good worker! I noticed all the waitresses that were working on 9/18/22 were working very hard. The food was cooked all the way and was very good. The water didn't taste clean. The bathroom floor looked like it hasn't been mopped in a couple days. The people there and the people working there were nice and friendly.

Starter's is a Detroit staple. The food is delicious with a wide menu of options to choose from. Service is attentive and friendly. Make sure to check it out!

Nice Drinks! A few good bartenders! Food is ok, it definitely taste better after a few good drinks.. Good Music, but its not a club.. O YEAH ..And Late night food until like 11 pm..
