I've always liked this place but hadn't been in forever. We came in as a party of 11 which included 7 young kids. The head chef noticed the kids and surprised our table with a bunny pizza. It was a small gesture that made us feel so welcome and excited the kids beyond belief. The service was wonderful, the food was great and the hospitality unmatched by any in my recent memory.

Really enjoyed this place, great location, great food and great service! Our waiter was really good, stayed on top of everything and was very professional! Really enjoyed the pizza and will be back for more. The Alfredo chicken and sausage was also really good. If you haven't been here I highly recommend you check the place out.

Celebrated our Anniversary there one evening and we will definitely be going back next time we are down there. (Can't wait for the warm weather to try out their patio.) We must say it was one of the best places we have been to in awhile. The Mgr. was beyond kind and hospitable, the Staff were attentive and professional, not to mention we were shocked with how big the layout is inside, with separate areas for adequate seating. The prices are very reasonable too for the quality of the dishes! So when you go and it's a long wait- DON'T let the waiting turn you away....it speaks for itself with how popular the place is.....It's in a nice area, so while we waited we were able to walk around or took a seat outside. They have a great system in place for the wait-list, so you don't feel tied to stand in the doorway. Well done Ottava Via! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

What a great place. Casual, classy Italian dining. I was in Italy last year and the food here was just as authentic and delicious. We had Garden chicken, Cacio y pepe, garlic shrimp and rice balls. Everything was fantastic! Great wine too. There are at least five different eating areas including an outside patio with bocce ball. Attentive and friendly wait staff. Highly recommended.

I was expecting to be wowed by the food but instead I was wowed by the service. Calvin is arguably one of the best servers I've ever had. That aside, the food fell short. It seemed to be missing salt or more flavor. We had the potatoes and the arancini which were bland, and also the garlic shrimp which had decent flavor. The short rib pizza was just okay. The short rib dinner fell short while the sides were flavorful, the actual short rib was not the star. Lastly, the truffle pasta was pretty decent, possibly the best thing on the table. The drinks were also a little lack luster. Also note that the food would come out as it was made. Our dishes came out at different times even though we ordered them together and the small plates as entrees. Unfortunately, I forgot to get photos of most of the dishes. I'm thinking based on the majority of reviews, it may have just been an off day.

Great place, great food, great servers with nice indoor dinning and casual outdoor area. Bocci ball area and fire pits outside. Just an overall neat place to enjoy time with others. We will be back as we have been several times and look forward to the next.

We’ve had Ottava Via on our list of Detroit restaurants to visitor for forever - so glad we finally made it out! Located in Corktown, Ottava Via offers plenty of Italian fare to pick from. Pizza, pasta, salad, bread you name it, they have it. The ambiance was dimly lit and perfect for a date night. The restaurant is quite spacious with bar and table seating. Our waitress was knowledgeable on the menu and able to give us some solid recommendations. I’ll gladly be dining here again in the future. Can’t wait to see what other eateries join in on the Corktown scene.

Pretty cool spot for Italian food. The ambiance is nice and peaceful. The food was good. I liked the pizza but didn't really care for the pasta. The shrimp was really good as well as the drinks. I would definitely go back.

Ottava Via has been on my list to try for a long time. Last night, during Noel Night in Midtown, every restaurant was on an hour plus wait. We decided we might have better luck in Corktown, so I called Ottava Via and luckily, they had a table available right away. I appreciate that there are still places that take walk-ins for those times that you're flying by the seat of your pants. The restaurant is attractive and decorated very festively. The tables are adequately spaced and there are several different dining rooms. We sat in the main room, which was not a quiet environment by any means, but it did exude energy and community. Our waiter, Calvin, was friendly, prompt and provided excellent recommendations upon request. We enjoyed the bread service, Truffle Butter Pasta ( added short rib) and Rucolina Pizza. Everything was tasty with the Truffle Butter Pasta being the star of the show. The short rib was good, but for $12, I think I'd skip it next time. The bread and pasta portions were so large that my husband and I had to take the pizza home for lunch today. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here and recommend this restaurant as a solid dinner choice. I'd rate it closer to 4.5 stars if that were possible.

Wonderful and accommodating staff, Kimber was excellent in preparing the private Music Room for our son and daughter-in-law’s rehearsal dinner on 10/22. Selena was very attentive in serving our group. We received positive feedback from everyone in our group. The pizza, pasta, and salad was amazing, and the calamari was light and fluffy. Thank you to everyone at Ottava Via for hosting this very special event for our family. The couple has spent many years together in Detroit; living, working, serving, and of course dining. They spent their engagement evening at Ottava Via and were very thankful that we could bring everyone together to share in their experience at the rehearsal dinner. Thank you for taking care of us!!

Yummy! Loved the vibe and my entree. Chef 'understood the assignment' and left off the chili and put the salsa Verde on the side. I tasted it and didn't like it all, I'm expecting it to taste like it has roasted tomatilloes (green tomatoes) and jalapeno but instead there was olives so to me it was an oily tapenade, not a fan. But the fish tasted fresh and flakey and the potatoes were nice and garlicky without too much butter. Just the way I like them. My friend got the braised beef, the mashed potatoes with crispy fried onions were excellent. I didn't know the beef was cooked in wine before I tried, and I don't like that flavor note but my friend said it was good. Not sure if I'll return because I'm lactose intolerant and pepper adverse and their specialty is pizza and chilies.

WOW! This Italian place was delicious. We had calamari and the garlic goat cheese to start, then I ate the truffle pasta. Soooo good and creamy. My family also ordered the funghi pizza and the special of the day — pecan (I think) crusted halibut. SO GOOD. The portion sizes were filling (didn’t have leftovers) and it tasted very fresh. The ambiance was also peak Vibe (we ate outside on the patio — so beautiful and such chill energy). The staff is super nice and attentive too.

My favorite restaurant! So well decorated for the holidays. The back area was fun away from the bar. Service was 8/10. Food was very good. Soup not very hot! Yes, yes I highly recommend you take the family. The pizza and pasta are the best.

Well the food reminded me of Rome , it was so good. I would highly recommend you to try this place if you love Italian food. The place looks so rusty and authentic, loved the services and ambiance so much. This place is certainly a must visit and one of my favorites in Michigan for sure.

Wanted to try a new place downtown for my birthday dinner and Ottava Via did NOT disappoint. We got there around 5:00 on a Friday and we did not have to wait. By the time we left, around 6:45 there was a wait, so I’d suggest an early dinner. It was our waiter’s first week on the job and he was attentive and very helpful. Any questions we had that he couldn’t answer, he found out the answer for us. The food was incredible. We had the broccolini appetizer which I would’ve been fine with a big plate of that for my dinner! The arancini was delicious. My husband had the bolognese and I had the pepper pasta (forgot the name of it) and it was super peppery and amazing. If they ask you if you want dessert and they have the Nutella panini, get it! Management (or so we assumed) was walking around checking on all the tables and service was incredible.

The food was amazing!! We were out for a birthday celebration and couldn't have picked a better place for being last minute. Everything we ordered were made to perfection. All Italian restaurants should be like this. The atmosphere was warm and cozy and the staff were very friendly. It was too cold to enjoy the outdoors, but the fireplace and the blankets provided was a very nice touch. Kind of disappointed it was too cold to play bocce ball for they had an amazing set up in the back. Definitely a must try if ever in Corktown.

Older building keeping the heritage of the past alive, much of the old building exist and elicits a wonderful sense of those who came before us. We had to come in through the back of the restaurant. The rear of the restaurant has a large and welcoming outdoor area, my party of nine wanted to go indoors so we dine outdoors. The waitress was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The appetizers and diner were ordered and brought out pretty quickly, the drinks were good. Diner was later. Everyone enjoyed their meals and there we no complaints, I enjoyed the truffle butter pasta, very appetizing. I like the Corktown area of Detroit, it's slower quite yet minutes away from downtown. I'll definitely be back for another meal.

The wait was way too long (2.5 hours) on Valentines Day. They should have been more organized by taking reservations or telling people the waitlist is 20+ people long. The food is good but not worth how long we had to wait. Interestingly enough, we bumped into 2 other parties that also said they had been waiting ~2 hours 🤦🏻‍♀️. Recommendation would be to go on a non-holiday night or one where they take reservations (if that’s a thing). I’d try this place again and fingers crossed for a much shorter wait.

I have been to many Italian restaurants and this pasta was not great. My pasta was very oily and we ordered a variety of appetizers and they were quite small for the price especially the sausage and peppers we got 4 little slices of sausage, and the sausage was probably the best thing we had. If you are looking for great Italian food do not come to this place.

First time here tonight. Husband and I dropped in for dinner before a concert at the masonic temple. Margaret was our waitress and she was amazing, efficient, professional and friendly. Bread service with whipped butter is a great bang for your buck. Sausage and peppers with polenta small plate for an app. My husband had chosen the chicken Alfredo, he said it was delicious and rich, Def tasted homemade. I had gotten the truffle pasta with sausage, it was the best thing ever. The mushrooms and truffle, so simple but felt like perfection. The atmosphere was amazing and cozy, it was loud around 6:30 pm when we were there, means it's popular. And for good reason. Will be back, heard about the gelato.

Wonderful Italian restaurant. Great menu. Food was amazing. We had that pasta Bolognese and mushroom pizza. The gelato was so flavorful and creamy. Friendly service. More seating thank it looks like it would have from outside.

I couldn't have been more happier walking into the place. Beautiful old school looking Italian restaurant. My friend and I were there to celebrate our half-a-versary and we both decided to take the short ribs and I couldn't have been happier. The staff quickly seated us, and friendly. I would definitely recommend that you go!

Nice place for dinner with someone special, have good chat and have some drink. Everything was terrific and tasty, service was nice and the atmosphere inside was extremely good, definitely a place you would visit again. A little bit pricey, but quality overall was super.

WOW! I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could. My husband and I dine here quite often. We have seen this restaurant from the begging until now and we certainly appreciate its staff and owner's resilience. In face of so many challenges with this endemic, bad weather, an d the old city infrastructure, this restaurant proves to be quite a trooper. Thank you to all the staff that are making it happen! You are accommodating, inviting, and wonderful. We have noticed a lot of new faces last night! Thank you for being you. By the way, the food is delicious! I know that the restaurant suffered a big flood and that is why the menu is somewhat limited. To those of you dining here, please be patient and give them time to recover because the full menu is really amazing.

Got the cacio e pepe with the homemade sausage, incredible! The bread you get is also quite amazing. The staff has great energy. And the atmosphere has a classic old brick building Italian restaurant vibe. Will definitely return.

Pricey. The pasta was bland but salt fixed that. The shrimp was pretty pricey (13$) and I thought it was going to be prepared nicely but it tasted very normal and it was thrown in that container. Caesar salad was not special like it was described on the menu. Its very average. It did not taste terrible. We still ate it and made it good, I just think the menu and pictures did not accurately represent the food and the prices were too high for what was served. I did really like the bread.

This was our first visit and we truly hope it won't be our last. We had a fantastic experience. The food and drink presentation, quality and taste were all excellent. The service was fast, friendly, efficient, and very welcoming. The atmosphere is perfect for families, dates, a nice dinner with friends or even a celebration. The pasta was perfect, the salad was wonderful, the appetizers were great. This was just a wonderful experience all around. We had 3 entrees, three appetizers (bread was one) 4 cocktails and two glasses of wine for about $140.

Really good food especially that bread and even though it was super crowded the waiters and waitresses were on top of everything. Inside looked really cool and clean place with nice lights and there was outside seating that looked really nice but it was snowing.

Had a fabulous meal here. Got seated in an isolated area when we asked (my husband is immuno compromised). Really good service and everything we ordered was very good. Recommend the pasta and pizza. The starters were excellent too. Especially the garlic and goat cheese
