I've been coming to Detroit for work for the last 4 years and never knew that "Detroit pizza" was a thing. So I did what any foodie would do, research the area for the best and with Buddy's, I found it. This was hands down the best square slice I've ever had. From the Wisconsin cheese down to the crust this slice was exceptional. What makes it so awesome is that they place the cheese all the way to the edge of the pie and it sort of chars when cooked giving it that sharp taste. Not only will I be back next time I'm in town but I will be looking forward to it. Great job crew!

This place was amazing. i was in Detroit for the first time for just a weekend. I asked the waitress for recommendations and she said "everything here is good" and she was absolutely right. The mac & cheese was very cheesy. and then i got the Sicilian 4 square pizza which was a good size for one person. and again, the taste was very good. Theres good parking and the people were so nice. Definitely can tell there was more travelers along with me. do recommend this place!

Ultimate comfort food of Detroit. The pizzas were so cheesy, great cheese pull, crispy on the sides and the bottoms too. The favorite was the Detroiter. Really nice flavour and you can eat how thick the cheese was. The pricing was also really great which makes it all the more worth it.

I read about this place prior to my trip to Detroit and I decided it was a must visit. Everything about my visit here was good except one thing: the area we were sat in was cold; I expect good climate control when eating indoors. Otherwise the service was good, the employees were efficient and above all, the food was great.

I thought this was a really nice place to watch the game and chill. Don’t have to get dressed up so it’s laid back. My waitress was really nice and helpful!! Her name was Yota I believe, so you should ask for her and have a conversation! The pizza was decent, nothing out of this world. Very high rating as far as the pizza is concerned but over all it’s a good place. The wings are good as well. Check them out and see for yourself though. Support small businesses!!

Originally wanted to grab takeout from Loui’s but the wait for pickup was too long (40mins on a Sunday night ) and had buddys as my backup. I should’ve went to buddys to begin with because this might be the best pizza I’ve had in my life. Ordered the 4 square Hawaiian to go and only took 15 ish mins. It came out piping hot and I knew I had to eat it asap. The dough was crispy but sooo light and fluffy. I’ve had 2-3 squares and it didn’t feel heavy at all. I would definitely recommend and regret not ordering more since I came from Canada.

Excellent pizza in a great atmosphere. Detroit style is extremely underated, but Buddy's is one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten anywhere. Will be back!

While visiting Detroit to go to a wrestling show, my buddy (pun fully intended) decided to check out the home of Detroit pizza. This was my first time having Detroit style pizza and it was amazing! The pizza was fantastic but the highlight was our delightful server! She was super attentive, very friendly and incredibly charming by saying I sound like I should be in Game of Thrones! I guess people from the North of England don't go there very often! Will definitely visit again next time I'm in the motor city!

The Original Buddy's Place was fantastic and well worth it! The pizza tasted like nothing I had ever had in the realm of Detroit Style. The thick crust had a crunchy caramelized edge, giving it an extra boost of flavor, just when your taste buds had been exposed to several glorious bites already. With large and juicy chunks of sausage, made with the right amount of spices, how could you go wrong. Just the right amount of sauce brought everything together, with a slightly more acidic taste that complemented the toppings and crust. The cheese was piled high to give it great taste and texture. The pie had been cooked to perfection wrapping the whole package up with a nice tidy bow. As for the sides, you must include the house salad! Buddy's original dressing compliments the salad and the rest of the meal with old world charm. With all that said, it really shows that Buddy's Place, not only originated the Detroit Style, but maintained it's status as the best for future generations to enjoy.

To sum it up in one word .... Amazing!!! The crust was unlike anything we have had before and the cheese and toppings were just perfect. The service is also excellent and they have a wide variety of pizzas and sandwiches that you can try out from. Did I mention the desserts? They are excellent too. Definitely make it a point to go there if you are visiting Detroit.

Sometimes you get to meet a legend. Here you get to eat a legend. It’s been nearly 30 years since I’ve had a square Sicilian style 313 pizza and if you’re going to break that fast, Buddy’s is the place to do it. Thick, double layers of cheese and pepperoni baked where the edges are all dark and crispy. Crunchy, chewy goodness washed down with a Buddy’s Beer. You need to roll out to the car.

Classic Detroit style pizza! I liked the old world pepperoni topping, I wasn't impressed with the sausage. The crust was caramelized, light and delicious. The minestrone Soup was fabulous!

Incredible Detroit style pizza. The crust is excellent, it's perfectly crispy all the way around and very flavourful. Wide selection of topping options, and you can also build your own pizza. I personally tried the Sicilian which was very good. My only gripe is with the tomato sauce, which could use more garlic to pack a stronger flavour punch.

I love this place all the food id good. But then pizza put them on the map not bad on sodium either they have a nutrition menue. The deep bush is the bomb. Just don't order to many toppings get two instead. Salads are really good and pasta isn't bad not like it use to be but still good. It can get buddy too. Give it s try.

Great tasting Pizza! I had the Detroiter and really enjoyed it. My son had a Vernors float that he said was delicious. Service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant was lively. Recommended!

Individual Greek salad with signature garlic parm dressing was sized well. Healthy portion. Pizza was perfect. Crust was crunchy but not overcooked. Veggies were fresh, fresh, fresh! Lots of cheese. Been in business 75 years and still going strong. Keep it up Buddy's!

Buddy's is SO good. The place is divey and has a really cool family-like atmosphere. The antipasto salad is great but the star is the pizza and it's perfect crust and dough, the sauce may be one of the tastiest I've ever had. We devoured it. Great service as well.

It's one of those cool places that's been around forever and when you are close you have to stop by! Super friendly staff and patrons. The ambiance is very cool and takes you back in time. I visited with my wife and mother in-law. We shared the medium side salad and it was more than enough for all three of us to have two small plates. My mother-in-law and I shared the 8 square Sicilian and finished half, it was delicious! My wife had the gluten free crust and was pleased with the way it tasted. I would definitely return and recommend it if you are in town.

When in Detroit what are the foods you have to eat. One: #DetroitStylePizza Two: #VernorsGingerSoda Where to get both? Answer: #BuddysPizza on Conant (6 Mile) in Detroit. They are the originators of Detroit Style Pizza! We arrived there during the Detroit Lions game on the TV so they were busy, however they had a seat for us right away next to the Bar. We started with the Vernors Ginger Soda, Aged in oak barrels for three years before being bottled and shipped out. They had it on Tap. As the waitress said “we Drink Vernors in Michigan”. It was very good, smooth, I like it, A uniquely flavored Ginger ale. We then enjoyed a wonderful #CaesarSalad made with a fantastic house made dressing and lots of shaved #Parmesan I should’ve bought a bottle of Buddy’s Classic Caesar dressing to bring home, the salad was so good. For Detroit Pizza we ordered 4Squares each of #BBQConant Wisconsin brick cheese, grilled chicken, red onions, fresh cilantro and Buddy's BBQ sauce. The brick cheese gave it great flavor and the BBQ sauce created a lovely sweetness. The #SpicyItalian Motor City cheese blend, Italian sausage, roasted red peppers, red onions, garlic, tomato basil sauce and Buddy's Sicilian spice blend. It was very tasty one of the best Detroit pizzas I’ve had. Loved the roasted red pepper and tomato Basil sauce. We finished the meal, satiated, and very happy. The service was friendly, and sweet. We hope to return to enjoy more Detroit Pizza at Buddy’s.
