Today me and my dad experienced Scotty's fish and chips and I have to admit the fish was amazing! The coleslaw was pretty good, but a little dry. The fries were definitely homemade, but were a little soggy unfortunately. Overall an amazing experience and I can say me and my dad will be coming back in the future 👍 Edit: The second visit was even more amazing than the first time! The fries were far from soggy and the coleslaw was very good this time. Thank you so much and you guys absolutely earned that fifth star 🔥🙌

By far some of the BEST Fish N Chips in Michigan. The Shrimp is delicious too. Dinning in is the way to go. Family owned business and wonderful friendly service.

I have to say best fish and chips I've ever had. My Scottish grandmother. God rest her soul agreed. and adjust. Found out something interesting. Founder's name was James Simpson and he was from Scotland. There never was a Scotty Simpson. It was James Simpson founded the restaurant back in 1950 and I'm assuming because he was Scottish people called him Scotty.

Decades ago my family used to come here for lunch after church. The place itself doesn't seem to have changed since then - it's like a time capsule - whereas the Brightmoor neighborhood around it certainly has changed. The fish and chips are great, but the nostalgia is why Scotty's is so wonderful. If you visit (and you should!) be aware that it's cash or checks only; no credit or debit cards accepted.

I was initially a little hesitant the first time I came due to the area being a little sketchy. Upon arrival, we were greeted instantly and were asked to find our seats. The waitress was very kind and on top of everything. This mom and pop's restaurant is an old building with older fisherman-style decor, definitely an older crowd. We were given a large bun with butter, basic but still good. We ordered our fish and chips, I also ordered clam chowder. Honestly, not my favorite chowder, potatoes needed to be cooked longer. Fish and chips came and the golden and lightly fried fish is 4.6/5, the fries were good nothing special and the coleslaw was terrible. Everyone separated their coleslaw on a different plate. I do highly suggest the fish!

Really good fish spot hidden in bright moor. Signage is very good easy to find and good size lot next door for parking. Definitely a old school kinda place but adds to the charm of it. Fish has a nice light batter and is fried crispy but not hard. Chips (fries) im pretty sure are fresh hand cut and skin on which is a great addition they are fried nice and crispy but soft inside still. Everything is very good except the coleslaw. To be fair though I'm not a coleslaw person so I say still try it but it wasn't for me everything else as previously stated is really good. And a very fair price will for sure be coming back

You get what you expect at a famous place like this. Would like to try their seasoned grilled fish next time. If I were into mugging people, this would be the place knowing that every patron walking in is at least worth $20 in cash thanks to the Cash Only Policy.

Seriously hands down without a doubt the best fish n chips AND chicken strips i have ever had. Couldn't taste grease in the slightest, best batter ever, meat was SO FRESH it seemed to just melt in my mouth. My family all the way back to my grandparents always raved about this place but this was my first time going. A true gem. And the service was perfect. Never waited for a drink refill either. Thanks guys for the best dining in experience ive had in forever!!!

I traveled from Flint to try what I read was the best fish and chips in Michigan. I was not disappointed, it was amazing. The Fish was the best fried cod I have ever had, the fried shrimp were also very good. The fries were good as well. The coleslaw was not my favorite, I like the creamy dressing type, but thats not what I came for. And to top it off the banana cream pie was the best I have ever had, I asked if I could get a whole pie to go and was very sad to find out they only had one piece left.

Absolutely delicious we had the fish and shrimp platter and brought home a fish sandwich. We’ve been going there for over 50 years. It’s a 35 minute drive and always worth the drive.

I don't understand the high ratings. Too much breading. Not much fish. The fries were soggy. There are several places around that have better fish and chips. I guess people just don't try them. Very disappointed. Won't be back. I might add that service was very good. But our little table was very dirty.

Everything was great. Most of us had their Fish & Chips, that they're famous for, and some had their Frog Legs. Everyone was happy and their homemade pie(s) for dessert topped it off. The service was phenomenal too. Be sure to check it out, but remember, cash & check only!

Great local Detroit spot for just what the name says, Fish n' Chips. Shrimp and frog legs are tasty as well. The staff is fantastic and full of wonderful people. One note before going, it is cash or check only, no cards.

Known of this place most of my life (I'm 75), finally got there last month. Very unpretentious, doesn't look like it' has changed it's decorating in 50 years. Very 1950s. Unlike other posters, my partner proclaimed it was one of the worst fish and chips she every had. I thought the fish was only O.K. but very smallish portion. She couldn't finish the coleslaw. My clam chowder was mostly potato chunks with one piece of clam. The bread bun was tasteless I've had much better tasting food at my local bar's Friday Fish Fry with bigger portions and lower cost with much nicer décor. Not worth the drive. Go somewhere else.

What a gem. Reminds me of neighborhood fish and chips restaurants of my childhood. The food was delicious and the service was great. Best fish and chips I’ve had in a long, long time. Fresh fish flown in daily - it’s a bargain. Plus you have to love the simple and very comfortable 1960’s ambiance. I’m going to be there often!
