Couldn’t leave Detroit without having Detroit style pizza. Buddies was right near our hotel and Tiger stadium. Ordered it for pick up and ate at the counter. Definitely like this style of pizza. The Detroiter - It’s as thick as a NY gramma slice with the taste of a Sicilian with pepperoni and bites of crusted Parmesan cheese!!!!! 4 slices was enough for 2 without feeling too full. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Best place to have some Detroit-style square pizza. We ordered an eight square pizza, which was big enough to fill three of us. I would say they serve really delicious cheese loaded pizza. The service here was good and people are really nice. We also had cheese garlic bread here and that was yummy as well.

Great location and solid pizza. The weekend we were there it was impossible to get a table and they were not taking reservations. Don’t let that deter you completely though- get a pizza from the takeout on the side if you can- very good and well worth a try.

Awesome Detroit style pizza. We came back in May 2021 and didn’t need a reservation, the place was pretty empty. Servers were great. Surprisingly easy to find parking. Would love to go back and try the original location!

You have to order the soup! It was warm, earthy and very homey. I also ordered the meat deluxe and the Hawaiian (i know, don't judge me). Both tastes awesome! It was not overwhelming with meat or with cheese, but rathee a good balance. The Hawaiian was a little bit too sweet for me, but that's because of the pineapple so I don't blame anyone but myself for liking pineapple on my pizza. The staff was also super nice! I ordered a bowl but they saw us two so they splitted it into 2 smaller cups! How thoughtful!

Very good lunch experience for a weekend. First time eating here since they opened. Will was our server and he was good: attentive, pretty friendly...he admitted he was tired that day but did a good job. Service was a bit slow overall on pushing food (our salad wasn't brought out first, but instead arrived with the pizza). Pizza and salad were good as usual. Buddy's is usually a treat and it didn't disappoint. A-

I had one of the best pizzas ever. It was just how I like it. 5 stars. Great service. At the end I went to the toilet. One of the chefs was using it. I cannot explain what I've seen. I was totally disgusted. I am so sorry, I really loved this place until I saw how the personal do their needs. I am not easily intimidated by these kind of things but in this case it was too much.

Recommended by a local, this was without a doubt the BEST pizza we ever had. Service was excellent and it was such a great experience. Sauce does belong on top of the cheese.

This location isn't the original one but good nonetheless . Had the traditional Buddy's pie with brick cheese. Very tasty. Just seemed to lack something from the first time I visited. Service is decent.

Not very pleased with the service tonight. We came from out of town and chose Buddy's because of the rave reviews. We were excited to try our first Detroit style pizza but it took over an hour to get it and never once has our server checked back to see if we needed refills. We just ordered soft drinks and the pizza- nothing complicated. We literally had to beg for our bill and once I received it I was appalled that 20% gratuity was already included. So I get crp service and have to pay for it too because this organization doesn't want to pay their employee a fair wage? At least that's the impression I get when I see a 20% gratuity fee for a table with two. The floor managers are all of no use, they should be supporting their servers. It takes nothing to check back on a table. Nothing! Communication is key to customer service. If the food is delayed, fine. Tell us rather than ignore us. The server offered to send a manager but I didn't want to talk to them. There's no use when I'm dying to leave because I'm already so late!

Had some friends in from out of town. One of the guys lives in NYC. I told him "I think you'll like the pizza at Buddy's". After his first bite he said "you so undersold this place! The pizza is phenomenal!" Good eats for sure 👍

Great place! Love the location and the atmosphere. Lots of options on the menu. The individual size salad was really huge... More than enough for two people. I also got the Detroit sour (drink) and it was fabulous. Very close to the Tigers' stadium, Ford Field and Little Cesar's Arena. Great sign inside for photo opps...I think it was "Made in Detroit" ? My teenager wouldn't let me take a picture so I forget now, but very cool, huge sign inside - to the right when you walk in the door.

Came here to try the famous pizza and was disappointed. The service was good - our server was nice and friendly, and the restaurant does have a great vibe and décor. However, the value was poor compared with the quality and portion: one 8-square pizza + one soft drink for each of the 3 of us came out to be around $45 (with mandatory 20% gratuity!) - and it would definitely not have been enough had we not had a filling breakfast that morning (otherwise it could easily have cost north of $60). As for the soft drink, the ice tea was the most watered-down ice tea I had ever had at any restaurant in my memory. Tried it once but would probably not come back.

Located in the middle of downtown Detroit, it's an easy walk from many hotels. The server was very friendly she even recognized I was a veteran and automatically added a veteran's discount without hesitation. The restaurant had a great atmosphere, nicely decorated, and put off a historic Detroit vibe. I ordered the 6 mile pizza, it was very good! It had lots of cheese, and the ingredients tasted fresh. I will definitely be coming here again for some amazing detroit-style pizza!

I was told this is the place that I need to visit while in Detroit, and I see why! The pizza was extremely flavorful, and had the perfect crust. There was the perfect amount of sauce, and there was toasted garlic on the pizza which I did not expect. It all came together so well. Their wings are awesome too, they're a lot better than the wings you find at most pizza shops. For dessert I ate a slice of the lemon cake. It was different than anything I had before. It wasn't very sweet but it still has a ton of flavor, and the flavor itself is unique. I will be coming here again next year when I'm in Detroit.

I came here before a Detroit Pistons with a group of friends for dinner. There were quite a lot of us (16!), but the restaurant did a great job of accommodating us, even as our party showed up in a couple of waves. We got orders in pretty fast and the pizza was out in a timely manner. This was some of our first experiences with Detroit style deep dish pizza, and we were not disappointed. It was cooked very well and everyone enjoyed themselves. They were even able accommodate my gluten and dairy free friend! This is definitely the spot to go if you’re wanting some Detroit style pizza.

On the last day of our trip to Detroit, we had the most anticipated and best meal of our visit at Buddy's Pizza in downtown. We had a 4 square, 1/2 was The Detroiter, the other 1/2 was the Detroit Public Television. Both were amazing. We also got an order of the mac &cheese. It was so cheesy and delicious! But the best part was our server, AJ. She was so sweet and helpful! I would rate this visit with 10 stars if I could just because of how awesome AJ was! It was the perfect way to wrap up our firat trip to the Motor City.

The pizza was so good and nothing like back home in Montana. We had the Jefferson pizza and Greek salad. Both had lots of flavor. The texture of the crust was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, just perfect. We ended it all with the Tiramisu which was huge and we couldn't quite finish it. YUMMY!

The restaurant is beautiful. Their food is pretty good. My only complaint was that the service wasn't that great. Our server seemed to be overwhelmed and was messing up orders. But sometimes that's normal when a restaurant is super busy as it was on this day. Other than that, I'd definitely go back again

Ordered take-out and ate it in the car on our way to Canada!! I'm from Chicago, so when it comes to pizza, I'm hard to impress. Chicago pizza is better, but Buddy's detroit style pizza was also pretty good.I really liked the buttery crust.

Had a great experience tonight! Kennedi was a wonderful server! The pizza was also great. We got the 6 mile and there wasn't a crumb left. A great chain that has withstood the test of time. Would go again in a heartbeat!

This is definitely my new favorite pizza place. We got the 8 slice meat deluxe pizza and it was delicious. The crust was so crisp (but not too crisp) and the cheese to topping ratios were great. Our server was excellent and very friendly but she did however add a 20% tip to our bill automatically. I am not sure if this is customary but she certainly did deserve it. I would highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back.

Tasty pizza and they were quick. The only downfall was that gratuity was added to the check during lunch time and we were a party of 3. I'm a tipper but when I saw that, it turned me off a bit. The food there is tasty.

Our servers were phenomenal. We came here after going to the Disney Immersive Experience and had already set a reservation up about a week prior. The only hiccup was when we arrived they were acting like they weren't expecting us? But it was figured out and we were good. We got our drinks orders first, then apps, then our pizza. Everything was yummy. My son also ordered a pizza to go and somehow it was made incorrectly, but our waiter corrected it expeditiously so no harm no foul. I judge somewhere by the sum total of the experience and I would say it was great 😃. By the way I was having such a good time with my family that I even forgot to take more pictures 😆

Fun stop when in Detroit. Close the the ball field. Pizza is very good. We had the "Six Mile" pizza and it was very good. The hot wings were hot but not overly hot. You get enough mozzarella sticks to share with the table (8). Great food that felt like a good value considering your eating in the city.

Pizza was good but the service is terrible.. 20% gratuity added on to your bill for bad service just isn't worth it.

Awesome place! Thick tasty Minestrone Soup! Huge Serving of Raviolis with bread sticks & sauce. Even the side salad was delicious. Excellent fast service- Jada was friendly & professional. Pizza looked amazing, portions are Large.

This place was the best. I can't for the life of me remember my waiters name :( . The meatballs were AMAZING . The pizza was great, and my waiter picked out a lemon strawberry cake that you must try.. seriously, get the cake. Waiters' name was Tray. He's a must as well.

Buddy’s Pizza lived up to the hype. I was hesitant about getting a pizza(The Henry Ford) with blue cheese on it but it was incredibly tasty. The flavors worked well together. I waited over 45 minutes for my pizza, it was only a 4 square. The price is pretty steep but I would order from Buddy’s again if I am ever back in Detroit.

Everything was great! The service was nice and the food was good. I like the space, big windows and outside seating option.
