Bahadur shah park (Victoria park) is located near Shadarghat at Laxmi bazar, old Dhaka, Bangladesh. I had a chance to visit it on 03 February 2024 at about 1430 hours. Around the park there is a Court Bhavan, DC office, Jagannath University, Shaheed Suhrawardy college, Kabi Nazrul college, Govt Muslim school and St Thomas Church etc. It is open for twenty four hours over the year. It attacks the young and old people who have come to enjoy the peaceful environment as there are so many trees protecting them from the sun. In the morning & afternoon it is buzzing with walkers and joggers. It is the historical park in the country and has witnessed many historical incidents. There is a club and field for Armaanian at Dhaka. Among other games they played billiards. Local people called it “Antaghar” and "Anta maidhan”. The British administrators publicly executed and hanged eleven soldiers in the daytime at that field, who had engaged in Mutiny in the year 1857. The field was renamed “Victoria park” when Queen Victoria took over the power in 1858. In the year of 1957 Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah built a monument there to commemorate the killed soldiers and renamed it “Bahadur shah park”.Ref: Wikipedia & others.

It is a place bearing history of the British Period. But it is now a crowded park and quiet dirty for the lack of peoples' consciousness. The towering monument of the park in the city is now losing its glory as most of its historic infrastructures are in dilapidated condition due to negligence, even the boundary wall has collapsed. Unscrupulous persons have occupied its land and parts of the footpath illegally to set up shops and other business.

Bahadur Shah Park (Victoria Park) is a historical park situated on Jhonson Road, near Sadarghat, at the old part of Dhaka in Bangladesh. The park has witnessed many historical events of almost two centuries. In the late 18th century, the present park was replaced by the Armenian Billiard Club of Dhaka. The locals named it Antaghar. The locals used to call the billiard ball Anta. From there the word ‘Antaghar’ came. Adjacent to the clubhouse was a field known as Antaghar Maidan. After Queen Victoria took over the rule of India in 1858, the Commissioner of Dhaka Division read out a proclamation in this field. Since then, the place has been named Victoria Park. Until 1947, the park was known as Victoria Park.

It's a historical place. But, due to lack of maintenance ,it has lost its attraction. It's dirty place. Homeless people sleep here. Many bus drivers pee here. In the morning people go for a walk here.

You can check this place on your way from Boga lake back to Ruma bazar. You will have to stop at a local boat station. Then you will have to start your 15 minutes journey to the waterfall on a boat through Sangu River. This fall is just beside the river. It was really amazing. Water was ice cool as we travelled there during January. View was great.

This is a very beautiful place. It is in Ruma, Bandarban. The entire river path is nice-looking. There are mountains by river side. It is a great experience to go to Rijuk Falls by trawler and this is the only way to go there. Rijuk waterfall is very high. It flows all over the year. In rainy season there is no place to land there under the fall from the trawler.

One of the parks located in Bahadur Shah Park, formerly known as Victoria Park, is Old Dhaka, Bangladesh. [1] It is a memorial dedicated to the soldiers killed by the British after the Indian Rebellion of 1857. [2] It was built in 1757 in the Sadarghat area on the initiative of Nawab Khwaja Abdul Ghani. It was not until 194 that it was renamed Victoria Park. [3] Later, it was named after the second Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah. The first name of this ground in Laxmibazar near Sadarghat in old Dhaka was 'Antaghar'. It was later renamed Victoria Park. Now it is known as Bahadur Shah Park.

One of the best places in this area. You won't find anything like this park in near of this area. Students of Schools, Colleges, or University need a place like this for rest or gossiping. I saw other day that students even arranged a group study here. On the other hand general people can take a moment out of the jam or heat of the sun. This place help the general people like me a lot.

One of the few parks in Old Dhaka, it once marked the heart of the city. From the whole of the European style Buildings, only the St. Thomas church remains. Here was the hanged of the mutineers of the mutiny rebellion in 1857 and a memorial pays tribute to them. The park is frequented by many students from the University of Jagannath who are just opposite. He is also notorious for his pickpockets, which explains the presence of two guards to ensure the grain.

Bahadur Shah Park was known as Victoria Park initially. This is located at laxmibazar in old Dhaka. History has that during Sepoy’s mutiny in 1857, hundreds of soldiers and their civil compatriots were publicly hanged inside the park. Later the then Nawab of Dhaka city Khwaja Abdul Ghani took an initiative to build a monument to commemorate the soldiers. The park was later renamed as Bahadur Shah Park after the name of “Bahadur Shah II” - the last Mughal Emperor in Bengal. Local people use this park for exercise and morning walk purposes. Also during summer, passers by take rest/nap in surrounding benches inside the park.

Are you searching for a relaxing place on a area that is over crowded all the time? It's Bahadur Shah Park for you. The park is located at Old Dhaka. Nearly the river port of Dhaka city Sadarghat. Very recently the authority has made a huge development to the park. Now it is more enjoyable than before. People from different ages and different backgrounds different occupations spend a lot of time here every day. The park provides walking facility as well as jogging and light running. But you will find it easier and less people here in morning on the other hand in the evening you will find it hard to even walk as the crowd go up in holidays.

Rijuk Waterfall (Rijuk Jhorna) is located at Ruma Upazila of Bandarban District. The water continuously falls onto the Sangu river from about 300 feet high hill, with beautiful sound throughout the year. This water is shiny like pearl particles in the space creating a unique beauty of nature. This lake is surrounded by many kinds of plant and under wood. You can go there any time but during the rainy season the most attractive views of this fall can be seen. This awesome place will make you the most naturalistic and very close to your heart. How to go: You have to make a trip from Bandarban to Ruma by “Chander Gari” (public jeep) or a private vehicle and from Ruma bazar to Rijuk fall you can hire propelled boat. This boat is known as “Reeshongshong” in local dialect. Fare of boat is 800 taka or subject to change.

Rijuk Waterfall (Rijuk Jhorna) is located at Ruma upazilla of Bandarban. The water is continuously falls into the river Sangu from about 300 feet high hill with beautiful sound throughout the year and this water is shiny like pearl particles in the space creating a unique beauty of nature. This lake is surrounded by many kinds of plant and underwood. You can go there any time but during the rainy season you will see the most attractive glance of this fall. This awesome place will make you the most naturalistic and very close to your heart. Rijuk waterfall is located at Ruma upazilla of Bandarban in Bangladesh. It is 66 kilometer southeast from Bandarban town. At first you have to go Bandarban to Ruma upazilla by Public jeep (locally known as “Chander Gari”) or private vehicles and from Ruma bazar to Rijuk fall you can hire propelled boat. This boat is known as “Ree shong shong” in local language. Fare of boat is 500/- BDT. There is no food and accommodation facilities in Rijuk fall area. So if you want to stay there long time, you should take your food and drinking water from Ruma Bazaar. The authority has a future plan to make restaurant and rest house very soon. Then it will become nice tourist area.

This is the best place to walk in the morning and evening, but in the evening when there is a lot of traffic and people can not be comfortable. So in the morning, at a perfect time, the open fairs around a city in old Dhaka are full of plants. At night, in many places, the lights are illuminated. The party is completely open. COVIT19 There is no hygiene system or hand giving system but there are orders to abide by the hygiene rules in the whole country so hygiene must be followed in this park as well.

After the remuneration, the place become one of the most coolest place in old dhaka. Lot's of people come over here every hour to get peace, to breathe in lively, to spend some time to search thyself. There's now no boundary around this is park. It's open from every side. You may concern about security issue in evening and night except for that you are always welcome here to live lively for a while.

Bahadur Shah Park was known as Victoria Park initially. This is located at Luxmibazar (laxmibazar or lokkhibazar) in old Dhaka. It has roads all-around of it. This is a small park and it may appear to you as a road circle to you. The main history behind this park is, during the Sepoy’s mutiny against British, hundreds of sepoys and their civil compatriots were publicly hanged, around the year 1857. Later on, at 1858, the Nawab Khwaja Abdul Ghani took an initiative to build a monument to commemorate the Sepoys. This park was renowned as Victoria Park till 1947. But after that, it is renamed as Bahadur Shah Park after the name of “Bahadur Shah II”, the last Mughal Emperor. But still now, local people used to call this park as Victoria Park. So keep this on your mind when you’ll visit the place, otherwise you may find difficulties to locate the park. Photo:citysytax.com

Bahadur Shah Park, formerly known as Victoria Park, is a park located in Old Dhaka, Bangladesh.[1] It has a memorial dedicated to the soldiers killed by the British in the aftermath of the Indian Mutiny of 1857.[2] It was built in 1858 at the initiative of Nawab Khwaja Abdul Ghani, in the Sadarghat area. It was named Victoria Park until 1947.[3] After that, it was renamed after Bahadur Shah II, the last Mughal emperor. I don't like this area cz of gathering..

It was built in 1858 at the initiative of Nawab Khwaja Abdul Ghani, in the Sadarghat area. The park has a great historical significance whose remarkable glory and architectural beauty are also of great worth. There are two entrances and two memorials (the tallest one is situated at the eastern side, in memory of the martyred sepoys and the other one is Khawja Hafijullah obelisk). There is another small obelisk signifying the throne of Queen Victoria
