Attended the Mater Private for a cardiac procedure. I have no complaints with the consultant who performed the procedure or the care I received both pre and post my procedure from the nursing staff. I was discharged by a consultant, with the title Professor, who spoke to me for a maximum of 40 seconds and informed me everything went fine and stay on aspirin, which I wasn't prescribed, and then left giving me no time to ask a single question. When I complained I was attended by another doctor who informed me of very serious problems with my heart that they were unable to treat. This came as news to me and if I hadn't complained I would still be ignorant of my condition. I have never previously received such arrogance, lack of empathy or basic respect from a medical professional than I experienced on discharge from the Mater on this occasion.

It’s pretty bad. My husband was in an accident. We had to make an appointment at the “emergency department”. (Which kind of defeats the purpose of an emergency department if you ask me) But we got charged 250 euros. But we still sat for 2.5 hours over our appointment time before he was seen by a doctor. The doctor saw him for 3 minutes, then sent him on his way with nothing and just told him to come back if he got worse. Parking was a joke. I had to climb out of my car window because the spaces were so small and we were lucky to get parked at all. I wish I was joking because I’m not exactly dainty. There was another patient next to us with chest pains who was left for hours as well… kind of defeats the purpose of private healthcare if you are faster going to public hospitals anyway?

This hospital is actually on eccles street and entrance is also on same street, google however says it's on Inn's quay. Place looks like a hotel I must say. Clinics are across the road, opposite the building. This place is different from the Mater hospital which is a public hospital. I think you need private insurance to get into this place. Car park available but expensive.

First time went for an appointment with their radiology department, the process was quick and efficient. Reached much before the actual appointment time, yet was acknowledged immediately with needed intervention. The staffs were great. Recently underwent a small procedure in their day care unit, the reception/admission staffs, doctor's secretary, nurses and doctors were so helpful and supportive. The nurses/doctors especially were very empathetic. The Operation theatre, patient ward were well maintained and did seem to have latest equipments and setup. Covid test was taken a day or two before the procedure (only for people undergoing procedure in the hospital) and it was super quick, the staffs were kind. (Isolated from main hospital located in their basement - car park area) Followup consultation based on appointment was at their suites (buildings opposite to the main hospital, segregated from the regular patients at hospital) which was quiet and not crowded. The hospital food/canteen facility serves good hygienic food. The hospital has organized measures to ensure COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. A big thanks to all who played a part during my time there.

I’m writing this review in respect of the Emergency 24 Cardiac Care Unit only (not 24 hours in reality). The main Mater Private is a much better experience. If ever required again, I will just go to a regular A&E. My overall impression is that this is primarily a money making enterprise. At check in, which is in the waiting area, staff just repeat verbatim to each patient what the minimum charge is, how much it could be and what the excess will be on their health insurance if admitted to the hospital. There is no privacy - everyone in the waiting area can hear everything - name, address, date of birth, why you’re there, insurance provider, etc! It seems that no health insurer covers the outpatient side of this service and in my view this is correct. The service itself is good and the medical staff are very professional but, inefficient as it is, I think the public A&E system is more appropriate for urgent cardiac or medical issues.

Both myself and my Dad had surgery in the Mater Private Network and I found the stay in hospital following surgery to be nothing short of horrendous. A strict no visitors policy meant family had to phone to get updates and it took 2 days of constant calling before they got to speak to someone. My Dad had his wallet, containing over £300 and his licence etc. taken from his bedside. 3 months later I'm unable to get a response to my enquiries about the outcome of the investigation that I was informed would be carried out. With strictly no visitors it was only staff who had access to his bedside. The woman I shared a ward with also had money go missing from her purse. On one occasion my 75 year old Dad had to call home to say he was still sitting in a chair in the dark at 10.30pm despite asking for help several hrs earlier to get back into bed. He was weak, sick, exhausted and unable to stand by himself but left sitting in a chair until we phoned the hospital from 100 miles away to ask to have him helped into bed. Some of the staff were amazing, particularly one of the ward attendants (Caroline Hanney), and seemed hugely overworked, but there were definitely other staff who had very little interest, and 1 male nurse who continuously made inappropriate comments. For a hospital that is classed as private, and was paid in excess of £30k euros between the two of us, I was horrified by the treatment and service received and absolutely would not recommend, particularly to anyone who is elderly or vulnerable.

My wife is attending the Mater private for cancer treatment since late January 2022. Unfortunately she has had nothing but bad experiences since day one, from the extremely poor communication from the hospital regarding waiting times for basic scans that are high priority when you are this ill. They seem to have major issues with Radiology department as no appointments seem to be scheduled unless you keep asking. We have to call on a weekly bases to It's disappointing when you have to keep calling about basic treatments/results that should automatically be done for you. You would think that basic patient management should be done without having to ask in order on my wife's treatment to progress. The food they provide is also unhealthy and not inviting when you are sitting around for up to 8 hours. It's stressful enough been diagnosed with cancer when you don't feel safe or supported by the Mater private system that the management claim is the best in Ireland!! My weekly health insurance is paying for this poor service. Every week this hospital just adds more and more stress and anxiety to my wife and I. We actually don't see any difference between public and private but only the vast amount of money that exchanges hands as this is just a money making business as they are certainly not looking after their patients wellbeing or concerned about my wife's health in our view. .

Most people complain about hospitals being understaffed, but here it was quite the opposite, perhaps there wasn't lots of patients that's why. The digital and simple sign in to the welcoming reception staffs to all the nurses are 5 stars in the hopspitality sector. (No pun intended). I went there for a examination and within 3 hours from entry everything was finished from paperwork to getting ready for the procedure and results from the doctor. I thoroughly enjoyed the simple toasts with butter and jam along with the tea. Many thanks to all the staffs for their hearworming and positive welcome here in Mater Private. Syed A. Nadid.

Visited this hospital in order to go to an ER to get treated at a private hospital rather than a public. I was turned away stating ER is accessed through appointments only. It’s an Emergency Room. “Emergency” being the operative word!! How can someone take an appointment to visit an Emergency room. Doesn’t make sense!! You folks have to strip the department and turn it into GP instead of pretending you run an ER!!

This place DOES NOT care about patients. All they care about is $$. This clinic is a joke. Had a vascular scan done here (200€) and discussed the results with a doctor right after, the same day. Called one day later to request the scan results so I could discuss them with a second doctor in my home country. The receptionist informed me it would take 30 days for them to email me the results. Since I kept pushing for a more efficient solution she forwarded my call to a dead-end phone number where eventually they hung up on me.

Dreadful Service. I requested a health check appointment approx 12 months ago. Eventually got one for next Thurs only now to be told it is being cancelled and next available date is in October. If this is what they regard as good customer service I would not recommend using any of their services. I am also recommending to my insurance provider that the Mater Private be removed from their list of approved providers for Executive Health Check.

I was returning from the gents, when a female member of staff walked up to a security guard and proceeded in front of people walking by on the corridor to bully him in an extremely aggressive manner. Not very professional of her and very very disrespectful. Shame on you Madam.

Was at the Mater Private Eccles Road and really was so impressed!! The place is clean and the staff from hospitality to cleaning staff to the Porters Nurses and doctors..nothing too much for them as they always going the extra mile!!! Chef "Joe" kudos to you but your portions are way to big but absolutely delish!! Gordon Ramsey..eat your heart out!! Really great for a hospital for such amazing food..This is food which is so healthy!! Had couscous and chicken sliver salad...First time I finished it even though portion was still big..just to die for.. and it was fresh!! They cater for all types especially Coeliac and Diabetics. First pic..a pigeon laid an egg on Easter Sunday!! Mam must have abandoned baby!! The cleanliness of the passage...really really happy!! So thank you so much....looked after so well after the bypass!!

Health service of a third world country. Waited hours overnight with no doctors taking patients from 3am onwards with people sleeping on chairs in the "Emergency" Department. Absolute joke of a hospital. Could at least tell patients they wont be seen at night and give a next day appointment. No queuing system either so everyone just left in limbo for hours on end.

After waiting +4 years for an initial consultation, the HSE fast tracked me through a new scheme to reduce public waiting lists. Through this scheme, I met with Dr Greg Nason, and his 'bedside manner' was impeccable, which made me relieved after having some previous terrible experiences with consultants (not affiliated with this hospital). He was knowledgeable, treated me like an actual human being, and made me feel at ease in relation to my medical issue when I left. Thanks.

Oh dear. Amateur hour here. Arrived in for some scheduled tests, booked in well in advance. Waited around for an hour navigating several layers of badly designed intake and other processes and watching various personnel floating around the place. Eventually gave up because I was getting indigestion from paying €320 for literally no service at all. I wonder how long the refund will take? No surprise. I was promised a refund within 3 or 4 days and that I would not have to chase them up to make it happen. 7 days later I had to send another email which did at least prompt a response from a professional and courteous member of the finance team and a refund thereafter.

Underwent orthopaedic surgery under the ROI scheme in the Mater Private Hospital Dublin. I had not a good experience for a private hospital. I was an Orthopaedic patient and placed in a cancer ward with three other patients, this hospital does not provide patients with private single wards as in Northern Ireland’s private hospital. I developed athletes foot through sharing a shower with three other patients. The nursing staff at no time checked my wound etc. their experience was in cancer not orthopaedics. I was in an old hospital bed that didn’t have the same operational ability as the other patients in the ward, they were all allocated new hospital beds that also connected up to the ceiling ward TV. My surgeon did not come to see me day one post op.and only came to see me two days after surgery as I developed a drug allergy. I was expected to be discharged two days after major spinal surgery with a 100 mile journey to drive back home. It appeared an obvious annoyance to my surgeon that an anaesthetist had advised that I was to be detained several days longer due to a drug allergy. Overall I was shocked that this hospital is deemed private health care. Considering what I paid for surgery and pre and post op care I would not deem it as private health care, compared to what private patients receive in Northern Ireland, therefore I would not recommend it particularly to Northern Ireland patients coming Cross Border for surgery.

Disappointing. Their "urgent" cardiac clinic works only on working hours and you need to book and appointment. I don't see how some one with an "urgent" cardiac issue can book an appointment in advance and wait few days to be seen. It happened to me twice. Don't bother with this place just go to a better hospital

I am very very disappointed that I did not receive an email from my doctor that I used to met him as with Mr. David Keegan on regarding about me getting my eyesight back. They denied my email requests from him and it is a couple of time when I didn’t receive an answer me. I will never be using Mater Private Network in Dublin anymore , it is sad 😞 to say and now we will be looking elsewhere where to get answer from an Ophthalmic expert in another place until they will refer me to a top government ophthalmologist that specializing for eyesight restoration from Phthisis Bulbi only.

My father was sent here from Belfast for Cardiac Bypass Surgery - everything from the word go was great - the check-in, surgery, post-op aftercare and everything in between.. especially the food! A special thank you to the staff in ICU and then St Joseph ward for taking such good care of him. His recovery has been amazing!

I had laser eye surgery done in the Mater Private February 2023, by Dr Marc Guerin. I hesitated many years before I managed to go through with it as I was very nervous about eye surgery, but I'm so glad I did, and I'm glad I chose this clinic. Marc and his staff were all great; very professional and knowledgeable.

Was admitted due to needing surgery to my chest, and the care has been fantastic. My consultant has checked on me daily and they kept me in a few extra days to ensure I was 100% fit and ready for going home after having some breathing difficulties. The staff have been great and so has the food, in fact it's been other patients whining to staff that's bothered me the most. The only thing I could criticise is being kept in the loop for plans ie. Physio, x-rays, etc but it wasn't that big of a deal, and the ambulances being a bit noisy in the late night/early morning haha

I attended the Urgent Cardiac Care this week and am beyond happy with the service. The staff were all lovely, super attentive and I feel like I was taken seriously and listened to. What probably would've taken a year in public (cardiologist consult, echo, holter, etc.), was treated within a few hours and I am beyond relieved. I'm beyond impressed with this service, delighted.

Received operation for kidney, February 2021. The medical team under urology consultant Mr Nick Hegarty provided professional care over the stay at the hospital and contacted regularly to check on healing progress when returned home. I therefore recommend Mater Private Hospital Dublin for treatment. The staff were friendly and caring at all times.
