i would not recommend this hospital to anyone. if you're not pregnant you will be rushed out the door and your pain will absolutely not be taken seriously. first things first, in the emergency room, they allowed the muslim women to have their entire extended families with them. now i understand that's a cultural thing however i'm autistic, 16 and was in excruciating pain and my father wasn't even allowed to sit in the waiting room with me due to "social distancing". (when i arrived in the morning the waiting room was literally empty so i'm not sure what there was to distance me from). if you're going to make rules like that make them apply to everyone or no one at all. it was blatant injustice. the looks i was getting from others in the waiting room was not pleasant either due to my age and assumptions, i was the only non pregnant person there. if my father had been there i would have felt much more comfortable. the waiting lists are absolutely ridiculous in addition to all this too. i am in so much pain every single day due to possible cysts and endometriosis (don't know for sure because yous have had me sitting on a waiting list since february haha xx) yet it's like i'm at the absolute bottom of priorities, not to be seen until september. i've gone to the GP and all they tell me is that all i can do is wait for my appointment here. it's an absolute nightmare. in what can be described as nothing less than agony every single day yet i've waited five months so far and another two to come. i don't know what to do at this point. what other options do i even have other than to just accept this is the pain i'm going to be in for the next two months and there is nothing else i can do about it. i can't get out of bed most days with it. when will the pain get bad enough so that they finally take me seriously?

Terrible experience, completely understaffed, they don't answer phone. It's 2022 and they still are forcing partners to wait outside in the cold as you're not aloud go in unless your wife Is in the delivery suite. I just left my wife inside and she's in agony, absolutely heartbreaking.

the standard of care from the adolescent gynaecologists is abysmal, don’t know how this practise is even legal. getting told convulsing, puking, and passing out during my period is normal because “most girls have painful periods during puberty”. dismissive of my pain because i’m already on the pill. if you’re looking for lifelong medical trauma, rotunda hospital is the place for you!!

Very bad experience... is currently waiting to see a doctor in emergency department for the past 7 hours .. I really don’t understand why this is called an emergency department!! Worst maternity hospital ever !!

I had a horrific experience at this hospital with my daughter who was treated badly n ended up with a blood transfusion ... when I complained because I wasn’t allowed in to help her ..she was very weak n urine bag overflowing n no one changing it ...I wanted to go in to help her at her request n was told I could go in instead of her partner n he wouldn’t be allowed in then ... ..I had to threaten Joe Duffy .. I was allowed in for a couple of hours n helped her get basic things ... then d security man came n ushered me out... I will say that when I had my child there 30 years ago it was a good experience. The whole problem is cuts with staff n this needs to be addressed!!!

Disgraceful experience. There was no preward available, then no delivery room available, then no anesthesiologist available, and I nearly had my child in the toilet. It is only then (when I had pushing contractions in the toilet) that they called me to get out of the toilet and suddenly a delivery ward was avaible. The nurse didnt want to check how many cms I was although I requested before putting anesthesia and I suffered as result the consequences of an anesthesia aplied in a completely untimely manner. Stay away from this hospital. Rooms really old and tiny for four people. Menu portions ridiculously small and very spare!!. And I am not a big eater! Disgraceful. It would have been better to deliver my child on my own.

I'm so happy and honored to write a review regarding my experience from Rotunda hospital.I was so tensed about my entire pregnancy journey as it was not easy for me,but when I approached Rotunda each time with the health issues they given me apt care and attention. I had my baby boy on November 11/2022 via vaccum assisted vaginal delivery and I would say from A&E to post natal ward i got proper attention and care, especially the team working in birth suite Dr Seamus, Eimear Wall, Nereida, Riley Meade,Caroline Ojeda (only know few names) who were working on that evening was unbelievable and I don't know how to explain their exciting team work , didn't see such kind of teamwork anywhere, they are the real superheroes. The way of their reinforcement was superb, I never forget you guys and thanks a million for your care and support , i would recommend Rotunda hospital.

Fed up with the staff on call. Arrogance to the maximum. Its been few times they are very rude. Not sure whether its our accent. Tried to be very nice to them throughout the call. Dublin's best canteen. The canteen staff deserves a medal.

Just had my baby vaginaly last night , after being induced @37w because of gestational diabetes, 8.3lbs every one was so nice and even though I was only in the delivery room for 23min before my son came our Midwife Mellissa from Italy was fabulous so kind and helpful was really the best birth experience I could have asked for I was very scared of doing it all again after my son was born 5 years ago with similar issues in a different hospital and it was very traumatic, but from start to finish I can’t fault the lovely staff at the Rotunda hospital . will always remember this experience with fondness Thank you guys ❤️❤️

Pig of a woman working down in the café, served me for a lighter one day and wouldn’t serve me a scratch card the next. Ignorance isn’t contagious (thank God) as only second negative experience with this hospital. Was almost refused entry to use the toilet at 36 weeks pregnant by a young 1 and male security on the front door. But today being only the second negative experience is one too many, everyone else who works either as doctors or nurses are absolutely amazing and couldn’t be more helpful. The woman working in “Cafe Rotunda “ should be sacked and get her head and eyes tested ASAP!!

at the check-up performed in the maternity hospital, he told me that the girl does not have dysplasia, and gave me a document ,and at 9 months i returned back in my origin Country and I did an investigation and a grade 3 congenital hip dislocation was detected, now the girl has to be in a cast for 6 months. I am very disappointed, the medical staff is careless and unserious.

No doubt there are many fantastic staff at Rotunda, but I felt compelled to say a huge thank you to Aideen, who delivered our baby on April 5. She was absolutely brilliant - incredibly positive, intelligent, compassionate, and completely in control and reassuring through some obstacles faced along the way. What an amazing person she is - a credit to her industry! Thank you Aideen for bringing our baby boy into the world, we won't forget you! :)) Leah & Jackson

My partner had our baby boy on Friday via cesarean section. We brought our little boy (Tommy) home today. The level of care we received over the last few days was something I will never forget and be forever grateful. The doctors and midwives here are simply amazing! Thank you to all the staff in the Rotunda.

My experience was very good during pregnancy, and was excellent during and after labour. The midwives who assisted me in the delivery suite were exceptionally good to me, I really felt accompanied. Later in the wards (I stayed 3 days) I met other friendly and helpful midwives and doctors. And the food; DELICIOUS! All the staff at rotunda who helped me and looked after me during my pregnancy and delivery, thank you so much!

The worst experience in my life and it was supposed to be otherwise. I don't know how long it will take to get rid of the trauma that happened to me there, because despite the year I still can't forget. There is no point in paying extra for a dignified childbirth in this hospital because you can be treated inhumanly like me :(

Vomiting, extreme nausea, dehydration for almost a week at 15weeks pregnant, then started bleeding, was taken straight in and treated with the utmost dignity and respect imaginable. Didn't have to wait more than a few minutes. I think we all need to remind ourselves how lucky we are to have access to any medical services, let alone ones as effective as this. I could cry with how well and how much respect I've been treated with. I've been in many, MANY hospitals and have never experienced anything as caring as the Rotunda.

I don’t recommend Rotuna for child birth AT ALL! It was my first pregnancy last year and had a c section there, I didn’t have milk to breastfeed due to nature of c section but I didn’t know and I wasn’t informed by the staff. My new born was screaming for 3 days and his nappy was dry but the midwifes didn’t told me he is hungry as I don’t have milk ! They didn’t tell me that my breast-feeding is not working!! They could offer formula Plus, i was severely in pain , they didn’t allow my husband to stay at night to help( i had paid and i was in private section ) when i asked midwives for help cz my infant was crying non stop. and i was wounded, they refused to help me saying they are busy. I should have sued them for misinformation, misguiding me and for not letting me get external help nor offering internal

Had terrible experience I the emergency. I had gyne problem and went there on Sunday. I was only person when I went there so got inside straight way. Then after about two hours a doctor came in just had a look and told me may give me a procedure. Then another hour of waiting, they decide sent me back home and do the procedure two days later. They told me it’s only going to be another 48 hours. During the two days waiting at home my problem got so bad that I couldn’t move at all. I just don’t get it.there were two doctors in the emergency unit, they were not busy. Why they let me going home and going through all the pain and make the patient suffer so much.

Unsure why you restrictions are still the same as 2020 when hospitals all around the world have lifted these restrictions, it’s criminal in this day and age to make a father wait outside until it suits to come in. Shameful. Not to mention how understaffed and over worked these midwife’s are, no help for mum and baby. Disgraceful.

Amazing hospital. Cannot fault the maternity care one bit but the gynaecology receptionist could do with alot of training in customer care! A woman in her 40/50s was so rude and inconsiderate that now I feel I cannot return to the hospital for care and I'm at a loss at where to go now. Such a pity that one staff member can ruin a once positive opinion.

Recently I attended this hospital and witnessed two women clearly in a state of distress left waiting in a non-air-conditioned waiting room on hard chairs. Clearly these two women were giving birth and needed to be in a room on their own with medical staff seeing to them. Instead, Medical staff were chatting away in the corridors, with no social distancing or masks, even blocking peoples way. Nice to know what Maternity care means in Ireland in 2021. Sweet Nothing! Clearly Joe Duffy's Liveline show in 2019 about giving birth in Irish hospitals has not been taken into consideration by the HSÉ. Surprise.

Exceptional staff, exceptional care and exceptional food!! I gave birth to my twin boys in November 2021 here, it's taken me quite some time to write a review. My experience was so positive and I'd like to thank all the staff that looked after me during all my appointments, while giving birth and after babies arrived! It's an incredible hospital with amazing, highly competent staff. Thank you so much for everything

Even though I had my baby via emergency c section due to some complications I have to say my birth experience was extremely positive. Being a nurse myself I understand how busy and hectic hospitals are, however every single staff at Rotunda was so attentive and professional in their own area, they reassured me and made this experience easier for me. I could not be happier with everything.I want to thank all of them for the amazing care I received.

The Corbally family. We were all born there. I'm the first born. Was born there in 1970. Then six sisters came after me. Nearly every two years. Me... Stephen. Then Sharon Donna Vanessa belinda Jessica and the last girl. Nicola. The Nurses all new my Mammy... Lol. 😂😂 And they did a great and safe job. My Mother said its a great Maternity Hospital. Now all my sisters had all there children there also. Amazing work they do there. It really is part of most ppls lives on the North side of the City. Never any problems. So I will gladly give them. Five stars. +++++ from first born in our family. Mr Stephen Corbally 🙏✝️💐🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

My wife gave birth to our beautiful , healthy baby Daughter Siún on 19/4/22. We just can’t speak highly enough about the world class medical care my wife and baby received, everything was explained to us step by step and they helped make what is a magical and overwhelming time even more special for us. I want to thank everyone personally, from all the Doctors, Midwives ,health care assistants, catering and cleaning staff. The medical staff are angels that really care. I Can recommend choosing the Rotunda Hospital wholeheartedly. A gem and very important part of the historic fabric of Dublin and Ireland.

05/12/2022 : The surgery that I needed was today performed in Limerick hospital. What a shame to the medical system in Dublin and the inexperienced staff. Just Shame! Previous Review: It is so hard to find a good doctor these days, I might need to travel to UK or Scandinavia to be heard and treated right. Our public services and medical services are just getting worse. I have a Gynea issue and I showed up in this hospital, doctors say I have a minor issue but completely ignore the problems it's causing me, and no final solution is ever suggested. Women like Savita will keep dying, the small initial issues are never taken seriously or cared for and no final solution is provided. I wonder what type of doctors are we producing who have no idea of what they are seeing and treating and don't really understand the patents issue and cannot connect with them. I felt that I am just talking and not heard by them due to their lack of context and knowledge on my Gynea Issue. Would they like the issue to be present in their bodies that I have got, the women in the emergency dept. must ask themselves. Overall, if you are not faking a cry or pain, you will be happily said goodbye, they simply want you to cry with pain before they will take you for an operation.

The system is in complete shambles! Doctors won't show up at least for 4 hours and they call it "Emergency care". 40 weeks pregnant woman is made to wait all night before seen by a doctor. Even for the scheduled appointments they will make you wait at least couple of hours. We are just a bunch of pain for them.

Avoid orthopaedics consultant Dr H.L. here- an x ray suggested for newborn ( should never be done until child is 6 months old) + suggested using pavlik's harness for a healthy child ( she did not know if our child had hip dysplasia or not, but to cover her back). We went to another consultant - no signs of DDH, so our poor child could have been in a cast for 12 weeks for no reason. This doctor also made it look like it was our decision to put the child in a harness. Avoid !

Excellent maternity hospital. I am beautiful daughter's mum and thankful to midwifes's team for everything who during pregnance and labour period care about my baby and me:). There wonderful care about pregnant woman. I had looking there from September 2018 to May 2019. And if I pregnant again I will chouse a Rotunda yet. So, I was on Public Care , I didn't have any question and everything was superb. Thanks a million Rotunda's team! You are super professional area! Emergency there decided different situations it depends of prioritise happening situation and don't enough doctor's stuff it's a minus in Rotunda hospital.

I was a Patient at Rotunda in June 2021. Thanks to the CAREFUL prenatal care - my son and I are healthy and alive! Huge thanks to the ultrasound specialist ( unfortunately I forgot her name) who checked where the umbilical cord is and took immediate action! I had a condition called vasa previa. Thank you Professor Geary for everything! I spent in total 3 weeks at Rotunda. All the nurses at the prenatal care and the NICU are pure gold! Kind, helpful and always alert🏆🏆🏆 The nights were a bit loud, but what do you expect at the prenatal department? Ear plugs did help👍🏻 PS: the food was great💯 I only can recommend the Rotunda❤️

Dr Vicky O Dwyer and her team are absolutely amazing. She is so reassuring and helpful, I had a bad experience in another hospital with my previous baby but the Rotunda semi private experience was absolutely flawless. Short appointment wait times, excellent doctors and the staff on the Lillie Suite were all lovely, the catering staff especially for keeping everyone well fed! Thank you to all involved in my son's care including pre natal ward staff and mid wife Kate. What a very special experience, I wanted for nothing and we were so well cared for by all.

Staff, nurses, doctors are sound, my son was born here recently. the services & those who helped the mother of my son were well... that helpful. Made them comfortable & any needs were given, only reason i ain't putting 5☆ is because of the low numbers in nurses which made some calls slow.

They changed the visiting restriction policy at midnight without notice (one of the nurses could've easily informed me) in March last year and my husband came to the hospital in the morning to see me and was treated terribly by the security staff at the entrance. It was so upsetting. It's been 10 months but I still remember how bad it was.

The security staff are incredibly rude and literally will step into your face and shout. Main issue seems to be that the website contradicts their criteria for visitation rights. Rotunda needs to either update their website or retrain their security staff or both. If you point out what it says online they just shout "OUT OF DATE!" Put a damper on what should be a pleasant experience.

The admittion in ER was very stressful as I was badly treated by a Blond Nurse in a blue uniform called Xiana ( I think). I actually met her twice in the same place. She was very rude and fake on both occasions. After being taken to the Ward almost everyone was very kind and polite, especially Kate the night Nurse.Thank you.

I've been attending the Rotunda since 2017. In that time we have lost 2 angels. It was a very hard journey whixh we couldn't have got through without your amazing staff particularly Jane from the fetal assessment unit. She has been our absolute rock and went above and beyond her duties to make our dreams come true which we are eternally greatful and I'm delighted to say our beautiful baby boy arrived on the 10th October. Jane amongst others including Nollaig and fabulous Dr. Geary have been with us 100 % all the way. Every single staff member we have met from midwives, nursing assistants, doctors, the ladies that bring us fabulous food to the security.. God love them having to put up with all the abuse over covid restrictions.. Have been amazing and made our experience so special. Sharon our midwife from Leitrim who reacted so quickly to get our baby safely to this world.. She was amazing. Also would like to mention Sarah Lyons who got me back on my feet the next day and gave me so many much needed tips and gave Nathan his first bath 😊😊 she is a ball of positivity and such a calm, loving person.. THANK YOU for my wonderful experience ❤️❤️❤️

Absolutely useless on outpatient Appointments.. I was ringing half day and nobody answering.. All the time the staff members are chatting there and they don't care about phone calls.

Just had a section here. Unbelieveable care afterwards - extremely attentive staff, experts in every area calling and checking in on you, lovely food, everything you need, never felt hurried or annoying no matter how busy it was; everything explained during procedures....could not fault it. Very lucky to have had such a positive experience - and that's not to say the section recovery was all plain sailing! But the hospital experience was over and above any expectations.

Been there twice in a month due to infection after the C-Section. Great stuff, friendly and good doctors. The only problem is at night not enough stuff and hard times to start breastfeeding, not enough stuff to show how to breastfeeding but giving bottle. Not easy for the mums who have no experience before, difficult to move even to take baby from the cot. And patients are making too much phone calls, video chats which disturbing babies during the day and at night. Besides, great food and pretty clean.

Rotunda is a great and extremely busy hospital - so tough for staff, and they manage somehow to care which is truly amazing. On the other side, every expected mother must follow their policies (not mother nature's plans) no matter ''if'', which sometime do not suit every woman - a woman as a person and individual. So my point in this particular review is - educate yourself about the process and have faith! Rock beats scissors. Knowledge beats fear. If you believe that YOU CAN DO IT, then you WILL DO IT.

Most traumatic experience of my life. Went through various routes to complain about experience, no follow up. Overworked & understaffed midwives. Do yourself and your baby a favour and seek care elsewhere. I wish I did.

Couldn’t speak more highly of my experience. Staff are friendly, professional and very good at what they do. I went through their private system for the birth of my daughter and I was very impressed. The midwives were extremely knowledgeable and made me feel completely at ease. Highly recommend to anyone considering for the birth of their baby!

I've been in for a colposcopy and I'm having massive medical anxiety so even being in the clinic was very hard. Doctor Kamal and the two nurses Nicola and Barbara took care of me and were fantastic in easing and distracting me. The examination was quick and painless, they had to take biopsies with numbing the area. I didn't feel anything really but the pure thought of a needle in my cervix made me almost flip but everybody was really good and patient in helping me. I felt well taken care of. Thank you 😊

I had a terrible experience, we was wait more than 3 hours to see the doctor with 3 days born baby . Midwives said only one doctor on duty at the hospital during night .And they don’t know , what time doctor will come and see us.with us another 3 babies also waiting , but there are no response. Hospital management should improve their on duty doctors.

😠 This is a circus, not a hospital. I have been waiting for Emergency over 18 hours and in this circus I can only give a pill against pain. They served about 50 people on front of me. Some guy was making a joint in the waiting room when they called him he refused to go. In addition, instead of sec...

😠 The lowest point of my life, the rock bottom. You would get better care in a medical war tent during WW2 than E&A in today's Ireland. Even if the doctors and nurses are doing their best, Beaumont Accident & Emergency is built and staffed to accommodate maybe 20 patients but it is overrun with 200. N...

😠 Disgraceful reception service. I came in for an appointment at 8:00am being 8 months pregnant and was told at the door that they don't have my booking, only to find my name later on their list. I proceeded to the A&E reception and the reception desks were closed with no one to check patients in. The...
