Was here last night after being brought there via ambulance for severe pain in my jaw and face and was left in really bad pain for a long time. And to be told because the ambulance people gave me paracetamol (might aswell have been given sweets for the pain!) that they couldn't give me anything stronger. The ambulance people and nurses in a and e obviously have a system of filling patients in severe pain, including a man that was in a car crash with paracetamol to leave them struggle in bad pain to drag out the already long wait times. I ended up leaving a and e after spending last night there and having to walk home in worse pain than I went in. I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEATH TRAP AS THEY WILL DO NOTHING BUT WASTE YOUR TIME.

I have been treated in this hospital with the respect of less than an animal. Absolutely appalling cardiology consultants who do not care about young people having issues - not being treated seriously because one is not constantly screaming for attention is a seriously flawed system. No one will give me back the three days in a place without light or fresh air and the uncertainty of what is going to happen to just be sent home without any treatment because you’re simply not important enough as a person being insured publicly!

Bad memories here. I think everyone in Dublin had a nightmare in matar hospital. Health system in Ireland sucks. Hospitals are butchers. No offence to the nurses and doctors, but that is awful. I was there vomiting for 24 hours. After that I got something and in the meantime they were asking me if I can it’s better to go home!! Unbelievable! I hope instead of going there I die. That makes me feel safer.

On 05/09/2020 They saved my brothers life. He was in a motorcycle accident. My brother George crashed his bike. The next day the surgeon rang me to tell me what injuries he had sustained and the work the team had to do to save his life. I don't even remember the lady's name (I apologise for that). Only a little while after I got off the phone did I realize what effort and experienced work was done. I'm writing this in the hope that ALL the people who work in the Mater Hospital realize how much they are appreciated. Because I guess that most relatives of the people they save and help are too much tied up in their own grief to take the time to let the staff know how much we appreciate what they have done for us and our loved ones. Thank you all so much.

I fell off my bike. The roads in Ireland are filled with potholes. A broken wrist was the end result. I went to the swift clinic in Smithfield. Sweet in and out in less than two hours. Since then I’ve been back to the main hospital twice for X-rays and changing of my cast . Super service no complaints. You will have to wait a while but that’s life.

Staff are nice, but don't keep you posted on what is going on when you're sitting in a waiting room for 5+ hours on a doctors appointment.

It was the worst experience I ever had, 12 hours waiting, dangerous people came in the hospital and the security fail to control the situation, and if it's not enough they didn't sort my problem just made it worse. Seriously, the worst place and service I ever seen!

The most pathetic arrangement for getting into a and e. The lift and stairs are closed from the carpark. You have to walk to the other end of the carpark, up a lift. Go outside, walk up the street and walk into a and e. Horrible with a fractured foot. You'd swear they were doing this on purpose. I hope the person that thought I'd would be a good idea to block off access to a and e from the a and e carpark gets fired.

I have been waiting for an appointment with an orthopedist for several years and finally I was given an appointment. I arrived but the doctor did not want to talk to me because of my poor knowledge of English. When I suggested that my friend translate for me on the phone, the doctor refused and said that I should come with an interpreter. I found an interpreter and planned to come to the doctor, but my apoitment was canceled and I was returned to the general state line to see an orthopedist. This is the first case of such a negative attitude towards the patient. I do not recommend this clinic to anyone.

There's some wonderfully talented brilliant staff working in the Mater Hospital. One or two others should be taken out and whipped!

I had a problem with my vision. I presented to a hospital who advised me to go to this A+E department. I had to be driven there as I couldn't see. I arrived there around 10am and I wasn't seen until 5pm. I appreciate the HSE is underfunded and understaffed which is why I had to wait so long. Just the pain of my eye made it a very unpleasant wait. However the staff were absolutely fantastic. I couldn't find fault in any of them. Just another example of how poorly the HSE is managed.

I was visiting. Customer Service Personnel were great. There are roomy lifts and escillators to access all floors. It is very well signposted, has hand antibacterial wash containers/bars everywhere, and Security personnel are in sight on every floor.

Abandon hope all ye who enters here! The admin, secretaries and nurses are extremely bullish, rude, generally unhelpful and unprofessional. Nothing is common sense here, everything is about procedures, bullying people to submission and protocols. The security at the door is there to get you out if you are upset and complaining about the standards of care which and at the level of a 17th century at the very best. The A&E Department is a nightmare with 12-72 hours waiting times for urgent medical issues on a plastic chair in the overcrowded, freezing, dirty hall. If you came here healthy accompanying someone , you will pick some illness here. You cannot leave and come back even if your specialist/ doctor is not available for another 12 -72 hours. Why to torture people and just not let them go home and then call their mobile when the doctors are ready to see them in 12 or 72 hours? The place is dirty, cold, windy, full of people who consume drugs. The toilets are cleaner and more hygienic at the Oxegen festival than in this hospital Paracetamol is the answer to all problems ( for severe pain like kidney stones or appendicitis!) . doctors are slightly older than 16 years old and I would not trust them to treat my cat, never mind a person in emergency situation

I walked into A&E in Mater last week & was treated very well, good if not better than private medicine. Loads of exploratory tests incl. Xray & CT scan. Was very impressed with nurses, registrar & all staff of the Med Assessment Dept. Consultant

0 stars, Clinic 9 receptionist said she'd left a message saying my appointment I'd been waiting for a year to get was cancelled, which was a lie once checked, what a shambles and just a lack of common curtosy, 1 star for the kind lady at level 1 info desk that helped me find my way around.

As most people say terrible hospital waited more than 10 hours for 2 stitches on my foot. People working there extremely unhelpful, did not prepare me for the wait time in any way, asked for paracetamol from three different nurses they all ignored me. Do not go, better if you stay at home and treat yourself
