We have had a great week - the location was ideal for us, the apartment was large and ideal for a family of 4. The resort had all the facilities you need. Happy hour and the pool side facilities were favourites!

I am surprised to see good reviews about this hotel. I booked it in March for my husband, he arrived and has to leave immediately. It was disgusting, according to him. It was after 7pm there was no one on the premises just a security guard, who tried to help but could not. They do not have a complains book. After few months of negotiation the hotel manager said that if I apology for my partner's behavior he will refund. 700 euros is a significant amount for me. I did. After few months talking to booking.com they confirm that the money will be paid in 20 working days. When, again, I asked about when the money will arrive bookin.com said there is nothing they can do. But "I can write a review to help them improve". However, after so many months it is not possible anymore to write a review there. How do I feel? Very stupid, very frustrated and powerless. Its seems they just took my money because they could and I cannot do anything about it.

Been staying here twice a year for 33 years so it must have something going for it. Reception and maintenance staff are excellent, nothing is too much of a problem for them.

Lovely place, lovely pool, shop was decent but not open a lot, check the times before coming. Not so good a location if you have no car, especially if you don't like heights, you need to cross a bridge to get into estapona or back to villacana from bus back from marbella. Taxis are grand though. Just be organised with your food shopping as most are closed on a Sunday.

Amazing place! Has everything you need. Beach, pools including indoor and heated, jacuzzi, tennis court, gym, beach. Our room has its own bbq which is amazing. Rooms are clean, have everything you might need, kitchen is very thoughtfully stocked with all the utensils. Will definitely come back

Excellent resort that is maintained to the highest standards. Not located at the most amenable place and lacking a little bit in places to dine outside the complex.

Beautiful place, but is a distance from Estepona town. You need to get buses or taxis everywhere. Taxis will only take 4 people, the larger taxis need to be booked in advance. The apartment was perfect and were equipped for a family self catering. The problem we had was getting to Lidl or a super market which was a 16 min walk in the heat. Then carry what we could back. A little tip, bring your wheelie case with you. Suzie's shop is close by, but pricey. I rode a motorbike to the resort and sat nav didn't bring me to the right spot. Eventually I got there. The pool is brilliant and has a life guard. But closed at 8pm. Another tip, bring firestick for kids at night. Overall, I loved it but would like to have had a car. The zoo is 2 bus stops away, but then a half hour walk up hill, we needed to get a taxi from the restaurant at the bottom of the hill. So get a taxi. (Selwo zoo)

Short walk to a beautiful beach with a view of the Pillars of Hercules. Great access to the highway and there are a few places within walking distance.

A really comfortable, well equipped house. Beautiful gardens. A great pool - indoor and outdoor plus sauna and indoor, heated pool

Amazing. Nice spacey rooms. Very nice pattio’s and beautiful gardens. Lpvely swimming area. Perfect location near a lot of things to do: Easy access to the beach. Walking distance to a few good restaurants. Short drive to Estepona; our favorite place in Andalusië. One point of improvement, the beds were not that comfortable. Highly recommended.

Expensive (over €225/night) for what you get in return. It all depends on the house you rent I guess (we rented Elena12/19 via rb&b) but we had a poor equipped outdated place. Pillows were very dirty but replaced after complaining. Most insectscreens were broken and thus mosquitos couldn’t be kept outside. Cutlery, and other kitchen wear was lowest quality so we bought our own knifes and a cooking pot to be able to fry an egg. House was furnished with outdated stuff and atmosphere was not inviting rather dark, muted or sad. Beds were not comfortable and in one bedroom the springs in the matras puncture through. Loose paint on the ceilings, outdated bathroom due for renewal, only one toilet (located in the bathroom) Outdoor furniture broken, missing or in poor state….. Also the next door horseriding school spread a nasty smell we experienced about 50% of the time. Common parking spaces are extremely small and thus inconvenient. Resort is clean with plenty flowers and the swimming pools are nice. Also the small supermarket was nice. Beach was excellent, clean, sandy with sunbeds available. Place is located one hour drive from Gibraltar and Malaga which is very nice. Some issues were resolved after complaining and we didn’t have to pay for the excess kWatts consumed but overall our stay was a disappointment as we felt the owner of the property only wants to make quick money and doesn’t care about the tenants experience.

Very noisy due to being close to A7,two mattresses pushed together so very uncomfortable. Walk to beach so depressing skips and derelict hotels ,dog mess is a major hazard !room was dull due to sliding shutters, why not have opening ones ??

We stay here because the rooms are excellent. Near Estapona and Marbella so lots to see if you have a car. If not local buses are frequent and cheap. Restaurants on site and near are very good also. Reasonably priced.

Villacana looked as lovely as it did 4 years ago. Having been coming here for over 30 years the standard the gardeners and other staff maintain is fantastic. And it was wonderful to see that the shop on the resort (although not run by Macdonalds) is now being run by the inimitable Lisa - fresh baked goods first thing in the morning. So tempting. Wonderful stay - 2 small problems sorted out within a very short space of time.

Stayed here as a friend had a timeshare. Beautiful resort with a great staff. We were impressed! The staff that facilitates both tours and activities were INCREDIBLE. We had so much fun, our suite was gorgeous, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were probably the only guests in our 20s there during our stay. It seems to be a popular destination for older folks from the UK--this was no issue for us (we loved our neighbors!), but maybe important to others to note. A lot of fun!

Loved staying at the MacDonald villanca resort. The staff was quite helpful, the food in the restaurant is nice. It could be an issue of you are a vegetarian. I would have given it 5 stars however we were a bit disappointed by the staff managing the pool area especially the steam and sauna facilities. They were completely shut off and after a bit their maintenance guy shows up and turns them on but it took ages for the steam room to get up and working fully and we couldn't bother waiting anymore. Same story on day 2 as well. Advice to management : please ensure your staff looks after these amenities and keeps them well prepared for guests. Would recommend this place and would also visit it again. Just ensure you inform the reception about the facilities couple of hours in advance to sort them for you.

Beautifully clean and gorgeous flora. I really love this resort, however, i do really hope that some consideration is given to sound proofing between apartments with the refurbishments because, every snore, sneeze, door or cupboard opening and closing, every cupboard, every phone alarm vibration seems to be amplified through the walls so if you have neighbours on different time schedules or are unsettled by the sound of your neighbours toilet habits in the night then don't expect much sleep. Top tip... take ear plugs for a decent holiday rest.

A real slice of heaven. My husband has been coming here for 18 years, for me it's only been three with 4 visits. From the moment you arrive under the parking barrier you start to unwind. Reception always friendly and helpful and booking in is easy. The complex is immaculate. Always. Beautiful flowers with pretty water features in the courtyards. The apartments are clean and tidy with comfy beds that are not rock hard. We have stayed in our regular 2 bed apartment and this time a one bed and it was just as well supplied as you would expect. The main pool area is impressive, heated pool, well tended gardens to sit back and relax. There is a bar and communal area for drinks and snacks and further indoor facilities. Plenty of attendants around should the need to be tidying or assisting. Villacana also has a policy on the sun loungers not being held with towels, which is excellent. I honestly can't fault this place, it's got some great places to eat locally and supermarkets a short drive away.

We have been to Villacana a number of times, and have always had a fantastic experience. The resort is always beautifully kept, the beach is great, and the variety of pools and things for kids to do, is fantastic. There are a good choice of restaurants both on site and relatively nearby, allowing you to have variety in eating out if you wish. There are also local shops for buying food, but I would advise hiring a car as it is a bit of a long walk with all your shopping bags!
