The Fort itself is nothing special. Been recently refurbished and now has a small art exhibition (Carybé). Free to visit the building but not the art. View to the sea is great.

A small interactive digital art gallery housed in a restored historical building, featuring the works of Carybé inspired by Bahian culture, particularly the iconography of African gods in Candomblé. The fortress offers scenic views of the bay and features historical cannons.

Think of a great place to spend the day: excellent restaurants with Creole cuisine and international cuisine. Excellent hotels and inns.

Interesting topic of art. If you’re an artist or you love art you can visit here.

The view is awesome! You can go by yourself or take your friends and family. There is plenty of wc.

Safe, lots of guards and police around. Paid parking close to the nearby marina. Good view towards Itaparica Island and the other Santa Maria Fort. The museum is of carybe, with interactive media stuff. They have VR headset and a Kinect to let you control a puppet. Cool, but limited. Not in English!
