Really good Sri Lankan food! Brings back home for those who miss the local cuisine

Absolutely delicious Sri Lankan food at a great price. They have a daily 6€ rice and curry that changes every day for lunch. It’s a huge meal that comes with 3 vegetable options. The vegetarian meals are vegan and gluten free by nature of being Sri Lankan but you can ask to double check. The staff are so nice and caring. They also make special Sri Lankan meals that you can order the day before so be sure to ask. They also have some counter food of Roti, rolls and other tasty treats. It’s located by the main station and is an easy walk from the historic centre. If you are close by I definitely recommend going there, especially for lunch.

Some of the best and most authentic Sri Lankan food I have ever eaten in my life! We stumbled upon this fantastic restaurant after ten days of Italian food - while delicious, we were craving more flavorful dishes. Tiona’s ambiance is very modest, but the aromas and flavor immediately had me smiling ear to ear with a taste of home. As a Sri Lankan I felt the chicken kotthu + rolls (and chili chicken) far surpassed most Sri Lankan dining experiences I have had in NYC, Canada, and London. Moreover, the hard work this family and their daughter Natalya put into excellent service show very clearly. You can taste their affection and dedication poured into every bite of food. Natalya made sure we were attended to throughout our meal, explaining what dish combos would satiate our hunger. To me, this was a fine dining taste against a humble, unassuming backdrop with company that felt like old friends. The portion sizes are also quite generous especially given extremely reasonable prices!! Whether you are South Asian and craving flavors of our continent, or just looking for a delicious non Italian meal, look no further than Tiona!! I can’t wait to come back and visit!

We had a bit of a language barrier to overcome when we visited this restaurant as noone spoke much english at the time we arrived(later one person arrived that did speak good english) They were however very friendly. The food we had felt authentic in a way. The kottuu was very well made for example. The deviled chicken could have used a bit more seasoning and the hotbutter fish was a bit one toned, even if it was pretty nice.

I ate there with some friends, and it was so good. The food was amazing tasty, and the portion was definitely over the size that we expected. To us it felt like hidden gem 💎

I had the vegan (I asked for no meat, milk or egg, but didn't check further) lunch, that included a dhal, 2 other tastes and a big portion of rice. I was very good, I recommend warmly. One staff person was very nice and pointed the fan at me. Be careful if you're not used to eat spicy

The food is amazing and authentic! Very high quality and the rice and curry is always unique each day. Great quality for price! We highly recommend the short eats, the milk tea, rice and curry! The owners are so kind and giving! We loved the food so much and will definitely visit when we come to Florence again!!

Awesome authentic Sri Lankan food. We tried rice and curry, chicken koththu and few short eats. Everything was super tasty. The staff was very friendly and served us like family. Quick service that we had our food ready within minutes. Prices are very reasonable. Can recommend without hesitation for Sri Lankan and Asian food lovers. Will visit again for sure.

Great food and phenomenal hospitality. The fish bun and kothu are a must try. The portions are massive and the food is prepared very quickly. We will be visiting again.

Hands down one of the best in Europe in terms of flavours and authenticity for a regional cuisine. Down to earth home cooking. Rice and curry lunch plate is phenomenal (finger licking). Please don’t in there looking a restaurant ambiance- but for the food itself..

There are no words to express about the taste of their food and friendliness . We tasted their food on the first day we arrived in Florence.Since that day we never even wanted to try italian food. We tasted rice and curry, fried rice, sea food rice, kottu,hot butter chicken etc.. The food is heavenly. You can feel at home when you go there. Its a small place. If you are a Sri Lankan you should visit there. The girl who works there as well as her parents and family who runs the place treated us like family. This is the best sri lankan food in Florence

Great service. Good taste, not oily and feels home cooked. And believe them when they say portions are big! We got the smaller portion of fried rice and it is enough to feed 3-4 small eaters!

The food is mouth watering good , you can ask for it with or without spice but highly recommend the spice and even asked for extra. The service is top notch as well and the ladies that waited tables are so incredibly sweet and helpful! Portions are also fairly big so you can definitely share.

The food here is so tasty and authentic. Everything in the menu is delicious and well worth the price. The owners are so kind and friendly and we highly recommend this restaurant. Food was VERY cheap and AMAZING! The people there were very nice! I went with my 7 friends, took two big meals and each of us only payed 3 euro! The food was tasty and i will definitely be coming again!!

Tried this place when we first arrived in Florence and it was lovely. We originally anned to get takeaway but they were so friendly and accommodating we ended up eating in the restaurant. It almost felt like we were back in Sri Lanka. The food was delicious and the portions are very generous

Fantastic value for money. Our family of four (two parents and two grown sons) ate well for a total bill of €24!! Food was tasty albeit a little spicy per the Sri Lankan norm. Portions were huge. I would definitely go there again.

I am part Sri Lankan and was curious about this restaurant whilst on holiday in Firenze. We went for dinner and returned again a few days later for lunch. There is a greater selection at lunch time - rice n curry (meat and 3 vegetable curries) for €6 per person. Fabulous authentic homemade food. Highly recommended.

We were looking for asian restaurants around us and saw this place on maps, at first we didn't find it even though we passed it, but then we found it and went in. It was immediately obviouse that this is a family restaurant, the whole vibe was like you are in the living room of a family friend eating dinner! The lady that greeted us, was super kind and attentive. She explained the menu very patiently and even told us a couple of times that the portions are big and we can share it, which was true, as you can see, this is a huge portion for only 11 euros! I had some leftover pizza with me and she was nice enough to offer us plates to eat the food we brought in with us. The food was amazing. my friend ordered ths seafood noodles and I loved it, and you need to know that I don't even like seafood. I can only say that I enjoyed my time there, if you want to feel at home, I recommend this place. My only wish and suggestion to them is to make a big frame or some kind of attention grabber outside, so that people can see the restaurant. Wish you all the best.

Enjoyed a nice break from Italian food with Chicken Kottu. Spicy but not too spicy. Our server explained everything on the menu and made sure we knew what we were getting. She recommended we get the smaller size for 10€ and we still took home extra. Delicious and even better service. Our server was very kind and welcoming. We've been traveling for almost 2 weeks and she provided the best service yet in Italy :)

Had a great experience at Tiona Asian Restaurant! Frankly, my wife and I have been getting a bit tired of Italian food every meal so this was a delightful change of pace. Our server was incredibly friendly and explained the menu in detail so we knew what to expect. We had no previous experience with Sri Lankan cuisine and I have to say, the chicken kottu was quite delicious. Not too spicy, but enough enjoyable heat. I would recommend any tourist visiting Florence to not overlook this hidden gem!
